The gentleman was incredibly helpful and very personable. I honestly just went in for an authentic smoky and the bandit getup for a costume party but I think they made a long time customer of me 😅

This is an amazing store. Very small and homey, but they have so much to offer. They sell Powder River shirts which are hard to find anywhere else. They have everything you need, from saddles and helmets, to boots and clothes, to gifts and trinkets.

After nearly 40 years living in SW Minneapolis, I have never been inside this store although I have driven by and seen it often. Well, I am glad my from-out-of-town niece introduced me to a unique and unusual (for me) establishment. Stop by to chat with the staff and give the shop dog a back scratch. My son and I just returned from a shopping trip to Schatzlein. Paul was the BEST! He was patient, thoughtful and helpful with my son who was looking for the the perfect pair of jeans. He found them with Paul’s help. We will return whenever we need jeans. We encourage you to do the same!

I called Schatzlein Saddle Shop on Friday and asked if they carried Tredstep boots. Gary said no they didnt, but there are other boots l could look at and try on. Gary mentioned certain brands of boots. Gary mentioned if l came in on Saturday, Paul the buyer would be there. I came in on Saturday. Paul showed me a pair of Ariat boots that would fit with what I do at the horse rescue. The Ariat boots were perfect! Not only did l buy the boots, l also bought two tees, horse hair bracelet, earrings and a belt for my friend. I also learned the history of Schatzlein Saddle Shop and uptown. If anyone wants to go to a tack store, please go to Schatzlein Saddle Shop. Youll be treated like family. Ill be coming back soon! I bought my first pair of cowboy boots here yesterday and had an amazing experience! The service was so top notch! They measured my feet and told me a lot of things I never knew, I was completely lost after failing to find a pair of boots I liked and were comfortable at a different store. Turns out I was 2 whole sizes and widths off, now I have a great looking pair of Tony Lama’s that look and fit amazing! Even took it one step further and hooked me up with a nice pair of boot socks. They have a great selection of shirts and jeans as well. I will definitely be back in the future and would highly recommend them to anyone.

Janet was very helpful, both on the phone and in the shop, regarding purchase of my saddle. First time Ive bought a synthetic/leather combination saddle, Western (for a new horse). I like that they offer a 3-day trial., so if a saddle doesnt fit, youre not stuck with it. I would definitely buy from them again.

We took a saddle from the 1940s to get some stitching repairs done. Gary was very helpful and did a great job. A wonderful place to get work done by people who put pride in their workmanship. A place of true History, saddles, tack, with great selection of Western clothing and boots.

Visiting from out of town, went in looking for a pair of caiman or alligator boots, found exactly what I needed and on clearance! Very knowledgeable and courteous owner not pushy at all. Good selection, was willing to order something in if needed, and a good clearance area too with great prices.

Great place, my wife and I just went in to check it out and ended up buying 3 pairs of boots! The owner was friendly and attentive, and also sold us on 4 pairs of these high-tech socks that make boot wearing way more comfortable, especially when trying to break them in (I wasnt convinced until I tried them myself) Next time were in town definitely going back!

I called this shop as they are the only ones I found with the cowboy boot toe rubber over boots. They had the size I needed so I ordered and had them within three days. Boot care is of upmost importance, but it’s hard to find the right tools (conditioners, creams, brushes) in town at places like Target. Thankfully, Schatzlein Saddle Shop has all the tools and very great service. My salt ridden boots are back to their original color.I’ll be coming back to shop the boot selection and stock up on leather care and for friendly boot expertise.

This is the best source for saddles, tack, boots, and apparel. We walked into Schatzlein’s 30 years ago looking for a saddle. We brought a picture of the horse’s head and within five minutes Jan explained the horse needed a wide tree roping saddle. She also explained the seat needing to fit the rider. I wanted to shop for some boots and look at horse tack.When I first walked in nobody was there to help me find boots in the back department for the first 15 minuets. When someone showed up to help me I was being severely rushed as if they had something to do. Very degrading in my boot selection, would LAUGH at my choice (yes I knew it wouldnt fit but i merely wanted to see the style so I could find sizes at another shop). Would not explain very clearly why a boot wouldnt fit and when I asked to try another one on she would be hesitant. Long story short ended up not buying any boots. Not knowledgeable in the western tack department either. Even cussed when she was telling me a story about a horse she knew got injured from racing blinkers.Would probably be a nice store if I had a more respectful employee that didnt act so cocky and vulgar.
