In the past 2 months, Ive been to Tangletown twice for tire issues (front & rear). What is different about Tangletown than any of the other bike shops Ive been to in the Twin Cities is that whatever technician is doing the work teaches and tells you what theyre doing in the moment. The work area is open to the retail area and the repair process is transparent. Tangletown is my new go-to bike shop- highly recommend.

Great service, very helpful and positive vibe, sweetest shop dog. Went in for a brake replacement, looking to get back on the road quickly. No wait; they didnt have the exact same part in stock but found another that worked well and I was back riding in about 15 minutes. Prices were very reasonable. Ill be back!

I took my old bike in to Tangletown and they did some basic tune-ups for a great price. When I needed a new bike, I found one here (from a well-known brand). It turned out to have a few loose parts. When I brought it in to have them fixed, the staff recognized me as soon as I walked in the door. They did the fixes for free, with no paperwork and with no questions asked. Ultimately, the bike needed a new part. They handled the warranty claim entirely on their own. When the warranty process looked like it would take too long, they took apart a new bike they had in stock to get the part for mine. This is a great small business.

I would leave 10 stars if I could. On a cross county bike trip we had Tangletown Bike Shop check, tune, and service our two bicycles. They went beyond for us and Mike and his whole team were exceptional in every way. The bikes continue to ride exceptionally well with everything running like new. Use this shop whenever you can is my recommendation.

Wow, my usual lbs said they would need to keep my daily commuter for 3 weeks for a broken break cable (I know I should just do it myself), but Tangletown got me in and out in less than an hour. I now have a new lbs.

This is such a great bike shop. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful to riders of all levels. I bought a fat tire bike there about a year ago and had a great experience test driving and purchasing. I would recommend anyone to go here over the bigger stores because they have a great selection of bikes and accessories in a very comfortable and personal setting.

These gals and guys are passionate, insightful and experts in their craft. We got a flat about half mile away biking 50th and they repaired it no sweat!

Although we hadnt booked the bikes ahead they provided 2 Cannondale Quicks in less than 15 minutes including pumping them and checking if everything works. Both bikes were good quality and in great condition. We had a really nice ride.

I will not go back to this shop. The staff are extremely rude, dismissive, phoney, and unhelpful. I just went in to drop off a flat tire for my boyfriend and was told they dont carry the right kind of replacement tube. Rather than help me find a solution to the problem, they sent me on a wild goose chase to a different bike shop that doesnt even exist. If they dont want to take our money, they certainly dont have to. But to send me out to drive in circles is pretty disgusting.Edit to respond to owner: Mike, Ive worked in customer service, and I recognize the condescending tone you used to dismiss me. I can understand a national bike tube shortage, what I cant understand is you handing me the tire back and saying I cant help you. You couldve sold me a new bike there on the spot, to be honest, or a wheel or whatever. Ive heard about this tube shortage several months ago, so what is the solution youve offered all your other customers? Too bad, dont ride your bike? I doubt it.

I recently had a friend take apart my bike so I could custom paint it and then he put it back together. A few parts werent perfectly put back together. Tangletown got me in right away without an appointment, fixed the problems within 15 minutes, and they were so incredibly helpful and kind the entire time. Thank you so much! Im so grateful I didnt have to wait several weeks or be without my bike for a few days.Tangletown is the real deal!

I have been pondering a new bike all summer long, and have visited a variety of shops testing bikes out here and there. But my visit at Tangletown was so much better than anywhere else! Not only were the staff super friendly, but they were female! They understood my needs in terms of fit and comfort, and they had several great options. I had no intention of leaving with a bike after my visit, but I ended up walking out with a new Cannondale and my ride this morning was spectacular. Fantastic staff, knowledge and service. Theyve won my loyalty, for sure.

Love this shop!!! Great prices, friendly and knowledgeable staff willing to help customers find the bike thats perfect for them. While there, I saw a beautiful sassy custom surly karate monkey that was beautifully put together, mechanically and aesthetically, down to the very last detail. The shop is even managed by a kickass lady mountain biker (swoon) who really knows her stuff.

Tangletown Bike Shop is my local bike shop so Im happy and familiar with the store. Today was even better than a normal visit as I went in with a repair emergency and Mike and staff took care of my issue as well as everyone else in the store. The place looks great, is very well stocked and I look forward to my next visit. Great store right in the Minneapolis metro area.

Tangletown is the most helpful and friendly bike shop I have encountered. Mike, and all of the shop employees, truly love what they do and always spend time listening and talking with customers to make sure everyone gets the best advice for their needs. I have always been amazed at home many times I have heard them recommend repairs or upgrades rather than just trying to make a sale if it is a better plan for the customer. They also deliver the small town feel by greeting everyone as they walk through the door (quite a few by first name even).I never hesitate to recommend this place for to people for new purchases, repairs, rentals, or even a place to make new friends in the biking community.

The guys who run this place are great! They are quick and accommodating and really know bikes. I stopped in tonight because my chain was skipping in certain gears. They quickly figured out what was going on and got it fixed up quickly on the spot. Love that theyre local and close by. I moved from St Paul to Minneapolis last year, and Ill definitely be bringing my bike here now.

These guys are really fantastic - they did some pretty extensive repairs on my bike after I got nailed by a car and made it look and feel like new. They were quick, flexible, and kept me in the loop throughout the process (plus they called me with questions about my preferences as they were making the repairs). They even took pictures of the damages so I could submit them to insurance. Very friendly and good at what they do! Take your bike here.

No one would mistake me for a god of bicycle maintenance, and when I brought my 14 year old hybrid into Tangletown Bike Shop it was a mess. Alex did a beautiful job of overhauling it, using used hardware where appropriate to keep the cost within my budget and making all the adjustments I had asked for. It did need an adjustment so I brought it back today and Mike, the owner, did some tweaking, and now it is like a brand new bike.This is an awesome shop with great people. I will not go anywhere else for my bike repair.

I just purchased a bike from this shop today. I had an amazing experience. I have not purchased a real bike in my entire life. About 10 years ago, I purchased one from Walmart and hated how I fit on it and it lacked so much comfort and stability that I got rid of it after a week. Fast forward to today when I walked in and told them I had no idea what I wanted/needed. Tangletown bikes staff was incredibly helpful and allowed me to test drive multiple bikes before I found the right fit. Once I found the fit, they also helped me install a bike rack and showed me how to hook my bike up for the first time. I was impressed by this bike shop. Mike listened to what kind of bike I was looking for and found the right bike for me right away. It made finding, test riding, and purchasing a bike very easy. I highly recommend these guys.

The folks at Charlies provide the best warranty service Ive ever experienced.The derailleur broke on a bike Id bought from them a month previously. I dont have a car, so I was stuck with a busted bike and no way to get it to the shop. After I explained the problem to the shop guys, I got an e-mail from Charlie himself, offering to send someone to pick the bike up.And the amazing service didnt stop there. A friend volunteered to haul the bike and me to the shop the next morning, so I didnt take Charlie and Co. up on their offer. When I arrived, Mike looked the damage over, said the best thing to do was to replace the whole derailleur...but they didnt have that model in stock. Could I wait a few days to get the bike back? I agreed and left the shop. We werent three blocks away before I got a phone call. Mike had talked to Charlie, whod told him to take a derailleur off one of the new bikes in stock and put it on my ride. Would 45 minutes be all right?Yes, guys, that would be all right. More than all right. Youre heroes.

These guys are the best! I met Charlie in 2015 on a fat bike ride at Theo Wirth when I noticed he was riding a Framed fat bike like mine. When he told me he was a dealer I started going there for service, and now I bring all my bikes there. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and turn around is very fast compared to the big franchise chains. Charlie is greatly missed, but his passion lives on in the great service that Tangletown Bike Shop delivers.

Out of all the wonderful bike shops in the cities, Tangletown stands above as my clear favorite. All the staff, especially Mike, the owner, are extremely helpful and respectful. Went to Charlies after a 2 mile drive from ANOTHER bike shop. Was greeted at the door by Mike the manager. He was SUPER helpful. Gave me all the info I was unsure about when it came to the bikes I was looking at. The knowledge of the bikes I was looking at, was on point and very professional. On top of helping me, he was VERY VERY nice to my wife and daughter. The last 3 bike shops I went to, my girls were ignored. Mike made us feel super good that I actually bought my new bike on the spot. kudos to Mike. Charlie, you have an AWESOME manager in your employ. All nd every bike and or service we need, will be done at Charlies.

I bought a carbon fiber handle bar on Amazon not knowing anything about them. It didnt remotely fit the bike I bought it for. A friendly staff member helped put together a solution right on the spot and it worked/looked perfect. Amazing service!

Recently, I contacted Tangletown bike shop regarding purchasing a bike for someone with balance issues. They suggested an adult trike and when I gave them our budget they listened carefully to our needs and requests and spent a lot of time putting together a list of suggested parts, upgrades, accessories, and customizations that we could choose from to fit with in that budget, fit the needs of the person who wanted the trike, and met her personal preferences. Over several long phone calls they patiently worked with us as we chose from the options and asked many questions. The turned it into a very fun and informative experience. The staff truly provided us with top notch customer service - I honestly do not think that we could have gotten that level of patience and care from any other bike shop! In less than a week, we had a customized beautiful trike and accessories! Thank you so much, Mike and Gabe! Were very happy!

I had a quick overnight in Minneapolis and wanted to get a ride in early the next morning. Charlie was extremely accommodating and hooked me up with a perfect road bike and even provided recommendations on the best trails in the city. Great guy and a great bike shop.

Cannot thank these guys enough. My back wheel came un-clipped from my bike when I was cycling and they fixed it for free for me. They went out of their way to be helpful and friendly.

The owner, Mike, is almost always in the shop. They charge fair prices and do good work. Most importantly, they tolerate my endless, inane questions and general lack of knowledge. Great place.

If I could give this shop more than five stars I would. Over the last two years I have had numerous repairs and updates done to all of my bikes (I have a few). Work has been excellent, affordable, and always done with brilliant customer service. I had previously taken bikes to some of the bigger bike shops in the twin cities for work I couldnt do myself, but ill never go anywhere else other than Charlies again. The best LBS anywhere.

I took my embarrassingly dirty, rusty, squeaky, well used winter bike in for some much needed TLC. I was shocked by the speed, service, and quality my bike received. It is ready to tackle on more of Mplss never ending winter. I would definitely recommend this local bike shop.

Charlie does more than run a bike shop, he volunteers with my MTB team, attends the races, which are usually more than an hour away by car, he told me to bring in bike because he wanted to fix it and put new rear brake pads on my bike. I brought it in and picked it up the next day, as well as trying out two fatties, and a single speed that I got as an early birthday present, which I am about to take in today, to get a quick check-up.
