First time here Friday 11/5/21 ! It definitely impressed me. I could’ve easily spent $300 here today, however, the owner(?) J.R. said : ‘ You could hold off and buy these in December when all is 50% off ‘ . THAT floored me. He took $ out of his pocket, in essence, to inform me of a 50% off sale ? I had INSTANT RESPECT, to say the least. We’ll, Daddy was hungry for comix so I dropped $126. Told JR we’ll absolutely be back in December for the sale !! Just got into comics recently and I checked out all of the stores in the area and this by far the best one. JR is a super nice and helpful guy.They have more back issues than any other store I’ve seen. They also have very reasonable prices. After going around to all the comic book stores I wouldn’t shop anywhere other than Vortex. Customer service is top notch and the main reason I keep coming back to this store to spend my money.

I went here for Free Comic Book day. They opened early to let ppl in. I wanted to buy something to support the store for doing the event but there isnt much to look at except comics and Batman figurines. On the way out, an employee yelled at my friends and I to stop and see what free comics we took. We would have done it ourselves except there was not instructions to. Nor was there instructions on which way the line to pick comics was, so ppl were trying to pick comics from multiple directions.

Best comic shop in the city, hands down and Ive shopped at them all. No games, no jacked up prices, and no nasty attitudes. Did I mention great prices? I drive past the others to shop here!

No mask policy. Owner doesnt wear one either. This takes nothing to do, happens no one, and can only protect people. Ill just drive a little further to Lost World of Wonders. They have a mask and max capacity policy and their customers are happy to do it.

First time there. Layout was nice. Lots of comics new releases and back issues. Batman statues were awesome.

Massive selection of both old and new comics! Very reasonable prices on everything. The staff was also very personable and were great to talk too. Tons of information on the many of the issues and gave great recommendations. Overall a wonderfully experience! I definitely recommend giving this place a visit if youre looking for a comic book shop with character and quality!

First time here today was really happy and satisfied with the experience. The shop is clean and inviting. Owner was cool and was helpful in me figuring out his shops back order organization. Took me awhile to find my own issues (green arrow) but that could be newbie looking. A great inventory of everything. Had a lot od blue beetle which I liked. Also fantastic prices cant go wrong.

A great place to get your comics

I have spent a lot of my time and money at Vortex, because it is simply the best comic shop in the area. The owner, JR, has a breadth of knowledge of all things comic related, and knows immediately whether or not he has any particular sought after issue. Where other comic shops dont have back issues readily available for perusal, Vortex has its entire inventory on the floor, which is how I buy comics (I rarely, if ever, know what Im looking for when I walk into a comic store).Vortex has an old-school vibe to it, and it is just the best place to get comics, and I cant recommend it enough.

Did not buy anything when I went in today, and I asked for a couple different items. Unfortunately they didnt have them (rare stuff). But extremely helpful, very friendly, store is set up how a comic shop should be. Will be returning again.

So Vortex, great place for comic heads off all sorts. There is a great selection, the owner is super knowledgeable and friendly to get you started on something or, to catch up where you left off if possible! - prices are on point and I always enjoy the conversations I have with just about everyone I encounter when I shop, totally recommend this place for sure!

Found a small box of comics while cleaning my basement. Took it up there & the staff was EXTREMELY friendly. Gave me a great deal. I would recommend them to anyone looking to buy or sell comics. Their selection is extensive & very well organized.

By my far my favorite comic book store in the area. The owner is super friendly and helpful. He really has a passion for comics and that comes through in his store. He has always helped me find what Im looking for and has even offered to set aside any comics I may need. The store also has a great selection of back issues for a good price if you have some catching up to do.

One of the best stores to go to. Walked in the door an the owner greeted me and asked if I was looking for anything specific. From that moment on we talked for a half hour about comics an all. The owner was real nice and the deals you cant beat. 20% off of all new comics!!! You cant beat that will the selection he has. And its not just 20% off of new comics, cause I got 20% off of comics that came out years ago. Amazing deal an nice atmosphere. Will definitely be going back to his store and being a regular customer. P.s. I live 30 minutes away an its worth the drive.

Easily my favorite shop in town! The owner is a great guy. Back issues are always available and there are a ton to look through. By far the best deal in town on new and back issue. If I could find every back issue here I would never shop anywhere else.

Celebrating over eight years in the business, its easy to see why. Open on Mondays with a tasteful selection of mainstream and independent comics. One of the best experiences I have had in terms of customer service and comics-buying. Would definitely return next time Im in town.

Absolutely great comic shop. Moved into the area about 4 months ago and every time I visit I have a great experience. Knowledgeable, helpful and all around down to earth guy running the place. Selection is great and prices are even better. Look no further if your in need of a new shop to explore.

Havent stepped foot inside a comic book store in about 15 yrs. I recognized JR from previous location. It took him a short minute, but he recognized me, from 15 yrs ago. Asked me a few questions, I told him I was going to inventory my stash. He told me to bring my list and he would help me full the holes. Just like before!

As a guy that doesnt read a lot of comics, I still think this is the best comic shop around. The guy that works there (owner?) is really easy to talk to and deal with. Sometimes I just stop in to shoot the breeze and end up leaving with a few comics. Hes really good at suggesting things I find interesting.

Good guy running the place, very knowledgeable and will give you a deal if you treat him halfway decently. Beats most other places around Milwaukee. Give him business, he deserves it.

The guy working there screamed at me for browsing his comics. I think he thought i was in there to steal something but I had money and was ready to pay. Now i would never go back because of how rude he was.

I went into this store because I heard he had a large selection of Kid N Play Comics. Someone told me that he had 126 different issues. I was surprised to find out that marvel only produced nine issues of Kid N Play. The customer service is so awesome at Vortex Comics that the owner tried drawing me issue 10 while I was looking at his back issue selection. NEVER has an owner tried drawing me a comic book to make me happy.

I have been coming to the store for years and it is a real gem in the comic book world. The owner is almost always on hand and is happy to chat and offer thoughts and swap stories. The strength of the store, in addition to the service and prices, is not only the easy parking and close proximity to both the city and the freeway but largely in the library of back issues that they keep on hand. Whether youre looking for something new or something used, maybe just browsing for a gift and need some advice, I highly recommend.

I went in for some comic storage boxes, bags, and backer boards. They had everything and the guy working there even assembled the boxes for me and helped me carry them out to the car! Its a little out of my way, but I will definitely be back.

Vortex comic book store has great selection of comics from, silver, bronze, and the modern era. The owner keeps things friendly and has what I think the fairest pricing intown. He also gives 20 % off daily and tends to throw things in after you purchase occasionally. Tons of knowledge and shares information. I’m s newbie to the whole thing, which can be overwhelming. Of all the comic shops in the area this is one of my favorites. Always a good selection of new and back issues, as well as everything being very well priced.

The best old school comic shop in town . Back issues galore give it a visit and you will get lost in well organized back issues boxes for hours. Plus 20% off new books and a free pull service makes this my go too shop for everything comic book related. Plus a rotating stock of interesting video game and other fandom items can usually be found inside. Youll never know what treasures you will find untill you enter the VORTEX !

Ok thanks guys I have never had a shop pull a magic trick they were all sold out and a customer or employee hooked me up.i will be back and if you have a comic fix that needs an itch get there ok dont go because I am gready and want dont want you to get the last copy of the comic I forgot to get on wensday.

Nice enough selection, but the location has access to direct sun and it is KILLING the books on their back wall. Investing in some UV screening/coating on the front windows would really help this out.

Organized shop, friendly owner

I often stop at different comic shops when Im out of town. As a result, Im looking for something different than someone local would. This place seems like a good place to get your weekly books from. The guy working there (perhaps the owner) was very friendly. They appeared to have all of the newer books and a large selection of back issues. They had some action figures as well. Unfortunately, there was nothing I was really looking for. My only real complaint is the lighting. Had that dim lighting that gives comic shops a bad name.
