The owner of the business gave me an appointment time to bring my boat in.He personally met me and explained the repair. Told me the boat would be ready in 2 hours and it was. They fixed my engine, under warranty at no charge to me. I will be coming here in the futute. Very pleased with the service

Great support with engine survey /inspection, very highly recommended! I used MercMan for an engine survey /inspection on a ‘07 Edgewater 268CC w/ twin ‘06/‘07 Yamaha 225. MercMan was recommended by a SAMS accredited hull surveyor that had worked with them in the past.I was very concerned about possible middle manifold exhaust corrosion on the 225s even though they were low’ish hour and performed well when I seatrialed the boat. Oscar, the owner of MercMan, talked me through the tests they would perform and why/what info it would provide, and patiently responded to my numerous questions.Once retained the survey was quickly scheduled and MercMan traveled to Riveria Beach for the inspection and sea trial in coordination with Hull surveyor. It all went super smooth, which was much appreciated as I was an out of town purchaser not attending the survey. After the survey occurred I promptly (within an hour) got an initial oral report followed by photos and a written summary report. Simply put, MercMan provided geat service, and great support. This type of support and the deep dive inspection I wanted on engines is not cheap, but it is way cheaper than potentially buying somebody else’s problem! I highly recommend MercMan, its owner, Oscar, and technician, Danny, for engine inspection support! Thank you, MercMan!

Stay away from this company. Not trust worthy. If you are crazy enough to do business with them as for proof of purchase for the parts they are charging you for. If they say they can’t then DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS, most likely it will be a used part or renew part.

Oscar has been my outboard mechanic for years and has never let me down. His experience with in boating is top notch and his prices are very fair. I was really glad to see he went from being a mobile mechanic to opening his own shop! Years of experience in the making! You won’t be disappointed!

I had a great experience with Oscar and his team. I took him my 20 proline with 150 mercury outboard to troubleshoot some issues my old mechanic was unable to solve. Oscar found the issue quickly, and made recommendations for other items. He sent me photos of all parts being replaced during the work, and was very quick and professional. I would recommend Mercman Marine to anyone. Thanks Oscar.

So after a couple of bad experiences with mechanics, a close friend had recommended that I should give Mercman Marine a call. I was very pleased with their professionalism and had agreed to send me over a technician that finally got my Intrepid up and running.I highly recommend this fine company.

I have been getting work done on my bot by Oscar, owner of MercMan Marine, for almost two years now and it has not been enjoyable whatsoever. He was recommended to me by a boater friend that only had some small jobs done by Oscar.I used MercMan to survey/sea trial a boat I was purchasing; my first boat. He sent his mechanic and we had the sea trial. At the moment it seemed to me that Oscar overcharged me for the sea trial inspection. I told the mechanic he had sent and the mechanic called Oscar. Oscar does not budge on the price. I paid the mechanic and went on with my newly purchased boat. Two weeks later I call Oscar and tell him that I would like to have a full service done to the engine. He told me that he would let me know when he had availability in his shop. A day after I drop off the boat Oscar calls me to tell me that I had lower unit gear issues. I ask him what the issue is and he tries to explain it to me over the phone (I didn’t know very much about outboard mechanics at the moment). He proceeds to tell me that the labor is going to be expensive and that he has another lower unit in his shop that I can purchase from him. Being new to the world of outboards I took his word for it and purchased the lower unit from him and had him install it for about $2,500. Oscar kept my old lower unit and stayed quiet about it. I ran into the old owner of the boat and told him the story. He told me the original lower unit had lower water pick up and how could my mechanic have kept that. I though perhaps this guy was exaggerating or something.About 6 months down the road I am running heavy at high RPM’s and I blow a hole in the powerhead of my 1996 carb’d Mercury 225. I am looking to repower and I see that MercMan Marine posts a 1998 Mercury 250 EFI on their Instagram page. I called up Oscar and inquired on this engine. He told me that he rebuilt it from head to toe and assured me it was a well running engine. He made me a fair deal and I agreed to proceed with the repower. Besides leaving the boat dirty with grease and extra nuts/bolts (which happens every time), he did a fair job with the repower. The engine ran well for several months. I did notice that gears would slightly grind when shifting. I didn’t think much of it.Two months after the repower my throttle won’t shift into gear. Still not the most familiar with outboard mechanics, I call up Oscar. Oscar tells me to bring in the boat so he can take a better look. After he examines it he tells me that the gears in the lower unit (which he sold me) had been grinder and need to be replaced, and he also told me that a rod in the frame of the engine (which he also sold me) is bent (not the lower unit shaft). I was very upset considering all these things I had purchased from him. He told me he would help me out some. I purchased the new gears for the lower unit. He told me he would need to remove the power head and the mid section to fix the bent rod. He seemed to have felt bad and didn’t try to rip me off with labor hours again. He only charged me $300 for labor. As always, he rushed me to get my boat out of his shop. One week later, I take the boat to the marina and drop it at the boat ramps. When trying to leave I realize that my throttles are inverted. Forward is reverse and reverse is forward. I almost went up the boat ramp!! Oscar how could you turn a bot into a client like that? I call him the next day and he tells me to bring the the boat back and “fixes” it for me. I told him that I also have a bad read on the gauge. After looking at the gauge he tells me “it was just something unplugged in the back” yet still charges me an hour of his time for it.Another week later, I take the boat out and I am getting very little power from the engine and there is gasoline leaking from the cowling. I am very frustrated now take my boat back to MercMan once again. Apparently there were 3 loose fuel hoses that were supposed to be going to the cylinders. Again....Oscar, how do you turn a boat into a client like this?Needless to say I will no longer use MercMan Marine.

The owner either has issues following simple instructions,or passing them along. I had an issue where I pulled my start cord loose on my small outboard. At the time of drop off they were provided with a new cord since the one I had on had gotten frayed pretty badly. I checked the engine today and lo and behold, same frayed cord. Not the type of service I expect when Im paying $105 an hour for labor on what im sure was 20 minutes worth of work.On top of the issue with the cord, the owner was advised that after I had attempted to fix the problem myself, the engine would not stay in reverse and the cowling didnt sit flush like it did out of the box. I took the cowling off to make sure I could place it back on, the way the engine came out of the box. I could not, and to top it off the engine still wont stay in reverse. These folks disregarded ALL instructions and issues that were pointed off at the time of drop off.Coming here was a complete waste of time and money. I would advise to stay far away from this place.
