Santiago is a kind gentlemen, an honest businessman, and a knowledgeable mechanic. These qualities are hard to come by in the same person in car mechanics these days as it seems. Costs of fixes are always reasonable. Labor is $100/hr and seems like they don’t even charge for diagnostics. He’s helped me diagnose things that he thought wasn’t necessary at the moment, and just charged me for my oil change. Nobody is perfect though - there was a complicated EVAP issue which required me to come back quite a few times for him to finally figure out the root cause, but he was so kind and helped me out by charging me minimal hours of labor as compared to the time he and his team had actually put in. Other places would easily charge you the full amount not even until the issue is fully resolved.

This review is way long overdue. I have known this family operated business for close to 6 years now and it started when I failed my emission test. Santiago and his crew took care of me, gave me reasonable quotes on what needs to be fixed, and they got the job done. They are very friendly and really cared about their customers and their vehicles. I wish every mechanic is as honest and as trustworthy and as intelligent as Santiago. He is a man of integrity and I can see his passion in helping out people being his top priority. Santiago and True Family Auto are seriously great! Santiago is hands down the friendliest and most hospitable mechanic I have worked with. Im from UT (moved up to Chicago about 8 months ago), so I feel really lucky to have found him through a friends recommendation.We had the bad fortune of replacing our engine on our Honda around 160,000 miles, but Santiago found a used one that he felt would serve us well. I know a bit about cars and he really gave us a quality price. He switched our brake pads and rotors as well. Well be going back here for any auto repairs and routine maintenance for sure.[I have not benefitted in any way, besides goodwill, by posting this review]
