When you hear about a place that sells farm to store cheese, it gets your attention, even if it is 29 miles away. Google maps to the rescue. The drive up to the parking lot is a bit challenging, gravel and steep. Then you must wear a mask to go into the small building. The refrigerator cases are on the right, pay in the middle. Cheeses and spreads are good, but can I say it was worth it? Hmmm...

The English family knows exactly how to produce only the tastiest curds from their cows milk. Their cows are well taken care of and only steps away from the cheese stand. Can you say farm to table?! Susan is a retired OR nurse, so you know their cheeses are produced under the most hygienic conditions. We love the curds, the spreads, and the aged cheese too. I havent had a single item from here that our family didnt love!

Saw this on the map on the way to Linville Caverns and thought my husband would enjoy stopping. It was an enjoyable nice place to stop. The prices were reasonable and they had a good selection of cheese and spreads. Didnt get pictures of the inside 😬oops. How ever I did get one of my grandson trying a new experience. Lol JK

They are fearful of COVID here. Bring your mask, or better, the Ingles Supermarket in Marion has a better selection of cheese.

Watch out for the mean ole lady in the orange face mask. Not friendly at all, and it seems to be a trend after looking through the reviews

The creamiest, most flavorful cheese you will ever have! I personally LOVE the spreads and anytime I am in the mountains of WNC I make sure to stock up! The flavors are wonderful and creative (the jalapeño, cucumber dill, and pineapple are my favorite staples)! Plus I am happy supporting a small, multigenerational, family owned business. The English’s are great people and do a lot for the local community. Make sure you stop by if you’re visiting the Blue Ridge Mountains in NC!

Some of the most amazing cheese you will get, the buttercup is a must have you will not regret it. The ladys that worked there was so nice and friendly. They offered suggestions and made my family feel at home.

Tasty cheese. Shop is small but what they offer is good, butter cheese was our favorite. Lady working as cashier was not friendly to us or our well behaved teens; we were all very polite. Definitely prefer variety & prices at Ashe County Cheese but may visit again, if the rude lady isn’t there.

Was in town to visit a relative for the weekend and bought several different cheese spreads. Came back to his house and enjoyed a taste test of all of the spreads along with a small block of cheddar cheese. Excellent!! All were winners.I would love it if they shipped to Kentucky!!

English Farmstead Cheese has an incredible variety of cheeses, all made with milk from their own family farm, by the family themselves. They offer samples, and are some of the nicest and most helpful folks we have ever encountered in any shop, anywhere.

The cheese is mountain cheese from mountain cows so its real good. The place is very friendly and family owned. The cows are like part of the family and have a beautiful pasture right up beside the store. There are portraits of cows inside and its all in good fun. You better go before this place gets so popular that you have to stand in line to get in. Its like that! Pure and simple goodness!

Happened upon this little farm store. The farm has been going for 100 years and the milk the cows a few steps away. We picked up some of their cheese to make a charcuterie later. They also sold local meats, spreads, honey, tea, and t-shirts. The people were nice and it was a cute, clean store. Cant wait to try the cheese!

This was my 2nd visit to the cheese shop and now I remember why I liked it so much the first time. The family that runs this shop are so nice and the cheese is super yummy. If youre in the area, you should definitely stop in!

Only open Friday and Saturday. They have samples of most everything sitting out for you to try. Everything has dates on it to show you the day it was packaged. Try the bacon ranch cheese spread.. amazing. Happy to see local business is busy. Will be back.And yes they take credit cards for those of us that dont like carrying cash.

Great cheese curds and I got some apple blossom cheese for my parents. I recommend the plain and Tuscan cheese curds both were excellent. I didnt try the apple blossom but it sounds awesome.

Very small, a few choices. Prices for the cheeses were decent to slightly high. The jams were pricey. Experience could have been better but the women working just sat back and watched. They did ring us out when we needed, but no explanation of the operation, choices, why its different or better than anywhere else weve been. I must say I was disappointed. Good luck on the future.

Found this place while driving near the Blue Ridge Parkway. Had to stop and turn around. Definitely worth finding a spot to turn around if you miss it. Cheeses were tasty and the Jalapeno cheese spread was very good on the sesame crackers. With the stop if you are nearby.

Wonderful staff who answered any questions we needed to ask. Samples selections were wonderful. Walked out with so many wonderful cheeses and meats. Wisc and Minnesota have met thier match.

Normally, I dont taste test. Some people are.... well disgusting.... It is a small place and there were 3 ladies working who watched over everything. The place was very clean. I got an butter pecan icecream cone that I ate while looking around. It was wonderful. The cheeses were wonderful. I almost missed out on the hard salami. It is wrapped up and below the cash register. It is very easy to miss it. We got a bunch of cheese to go and they cut it up for us so we could enjoy it on our way to the Cavern just about a mile away.

These ladies truly have a hidden gem in Linville. Escaped the city with my girlfriend and dog and found this great hideaway to get some delicious homemade jams and honey. The maple walnut ice cream will blow your mind. Very relaxing porch to sit on and enjoy the day.

Great selection of homemade cheese and jams! If you are looking for cheese curds, and trust me, it is hard to find them in the south, they have them and they are phenomenal! I highly recommend this place.

Very good cheese! The cheese curds are addictive and they have several aged and flavored varieties of cheeses. They have free samples when theyre open on Friday and Saturday. The owner and staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Wish they had more hours but it their product can sometimes be found at local produce stands.

We stopped here on our way back from the Linville Caverns. The best cheese spreads I have ever tasted. The woman and the little girl working the counter were extremely welcoming, the service was superb. We are so excited to eat all of the cheese we bought! We will definitely be back our next time in the mountains.

Amazing freshly made cheese products! This cute little shop sits on the side of the road next to a family farm. I would pass it every time I would head to the Newland/ Boone area from Asheville. I kept wanting to stop and check it out but it would pass by so quickly. Im so glad i finally decided to stop! Delicious cheese items! I got the cheese curds and some key lime cheese spread. Both were fantastic! This will become a tradition to stop here on the way to Boone from now on. I look forward to trying their other products.

Wandered past this place and turned around. Theyre only open Friday and Saturdays, but wow, the cheese is wonderful! Picked up small sizes of two spreads, a Buttercup (my favorite) and the Apple Blossom. Great find, and well stop again when were up in that direction.

Was not impressed with the older lady working there. She was NOT friendly and very rude during check out towards my husband. I wanted him to put the stuff back because Im not wasting our money.

Great little cheese shop! Weve been wanting to stop the past couple years traveling through but weve always passed through when they are closed. We finally made it! Its small but amazing cheese along with some nearby meat and jam offerings they sell. Worth the stop!

Great selection of locally produced cheeses and ice cream. My favorite is the buttercup, a farmer cheese, but they offer a very good Gouda style and an excellent smoked cheddar called the Chestoa. The staff is helpful and friendly, and didnt even bat an eye when my kids wiped out all the crackers on the sample table.

So glad we have the English Farmstead Dairy Farm so close. Love being able to buy cheeses right from the source. Everything is delicious, and youll always be greeted by a smiling face from one or more of the English family.

You dont know how good cheese should taste until you try the Tuscan Herb here. Store bought cheese will never bring you joy again.

I was so happy to find a cheese place while visiting the mountains! We arrived early on Saturday morning, tried the samples, and purchased several types of cheese. They have a fairly decent selection, including cheese curds! Definitely worth the stop.

This place was recommended to us at the local Winery after completing the Vineyard Trail. The cheese is amazing but Im only giving 2 stars because the worker was unattentive, did not act like she wanted to be there and was rather rude. After buying over $50 in merchandice and trying to be friendly I figured her attitude might have changed but it did not. If she is there and acts the same way on our next visit, we will take our business elsewhere.

Wonderful little store - theres always a small sample table set up to try some of their cheeses before you purchase. We ALWAYS get a cone of their icecream when we visit. Their cheeses are delish! I cant reccomend enough! Its a must place to visit if youre in the area. If we lived nearby we would visit alot more than we get to.

We love this place. We always stop here if we get within an hour of this place. The staff is pleasant and the location is beautiful. This is a good place to stop o. Your way to Linville Falls vineyards about 15 minutes drive away. The reason we go back over and over again is the cheese! All are good but we especially enjoy the cheddar and the buttercup. The Cheadder is one of the best I have ever had, goes great with a glass of wine from Linville Falls or Grandfather Mountain Vineyards
