I really like this store. The deals are good and the variety of brands for pricing are good. This is a large store with a lot to offer if you are in the market for sporting stuff. The staff is a little absent. I was their for about 30 minutes and witnessed a lot of personal conversations, even when i was in checkout, and they only stopped for the scripted responses like paper or plastic and the like.

Had a great experience shopping for kayaks here. The staff went above and beyond by helping us select our kayak and a rack to be able to haul them. They allowed us to assemble our rack and load the kayaks right there. Mark in the outdoors/sporting goods depwas outstanding!!

The store had a good selection of camouflage shirts. We also found some shoes for my husband.

I have been to this location numerous times and never had an experience like today with all thanks to manager named Matt who for some reason was extremely rude to not only me but his subordinates like Andrew and Mark. Why is this allowed to talk to not only his employees in a belittling way but customers as well! After spending nearly 1.5 hours there this morning I left with out my intended purchase. While at the register Matt presented an attitude over the radio with Andrew about me regarding the advertised price on the rifle. Then did not honor the price that was advertised on the rifle. Every other employee interaction was pleasant excluding macho man Matt.

The staff was very helpful from the greeter at the door to the cashier. I was able to get assistance finding what I was looking to purchase.

Let me just say employee Erica at the Manchester MO store is awesome! She went the extra mile on customer service. She went to back of the store and to the returns to find me 2 shirts in the size I couldnt find on the floor. Then She took the time to explain the fabrics to me. She needs to be praised for a job well done! Great selection and great prices.

This is a great store. I give it 4 stars and not 5 because the last few times Ive been in the inventory has been kind of pathetic. Im not sure if theyre in the middle of restocking the entire store? I primarily shop the fishing section and the BBQ/smoker section.Based on my future experience(s), Id happily increase my review to 5 stars.

This place and their staff are amazing. Ive been looking for a basketball hoop for a trampoline (in-store) everywhere and Academy was literally the only local store but have one in the actual store instead of having to order online which I do not like to have to do. You made this Mema and grandson extremely happy! Thank you 😁

Staff was a bit hard to find, but the place was crowded. Maybe due to Fathers day. Found what we were looking for. Will have to go back during the week when its less crowded for other things.Prices are good. Selection is great. Will be back

Great staff and I can always find what I want and order it if it isnt in store.

We visited this establishments looking for a kayak. The person in this area there was not a big help at all. Totally not helpful, wouldnt go beyond the simplest effort. It was so disappointing that we didnt bother trying to get help at all and we left. We purchased our kayaks somewhere else.

Ill start with the door greeter, he was sure to tell us there was 14 minutes left to make our selection. They close at 9pm, it was 8:16pm when he told us that. I asked him why, he said all of the registers shut down at 9pm sharp. Anyway... That didnt really matter, their selection is so limited that we couldnt find anything we needed. Their team sporting goods is all cheap, low quality products. Youll never find top of the line options. Theyre basically a tier, maybe a teir and a half above walmart.I miss Johnny Macs Sporting Goods. You paid to dollar for everything but at least you could get quality gear right then and there.

I quickly found the item I was looking for and the check out process was very fast

Nice store with good people. Always are willing to help you. I had a 15 minutes conversation with the store manager ( accidentally met him there), who gave me very detailed advise which gun to buy. He did try to sell what they had; wanted to help me to get what I needed. Appreciate that help!

I have stopped by here many times. More so this year when it comes to getting workout items and weights.Id especially would like to thank the staff for being knowledgeable and friendly. Supper happy I was able to get the things I needed today.

Academy has always been one of my favorite sporting goods stores but when they started hiding their shack down shells you that are used for sport I cant give them a high ravie many more

I went in tonight to exchange some clothing for different sizes. This location didnt have the sizes that I needed so I asked the customer service desk if I could order the correct sizes online, then return the items when they came in. Then exchange my items for the ones that I just returned. They didnt seem to understand and they didnt want to try to understand. I felt that I was bothering them with my questions. The girl from apparel turned around and started walking away and the others went on helping other customers and ignored me. Customer Service is apparently NOT their strong suit at this store. Maybe I just went on a bad night. Even the gentlemen at the entrance of the store was not very pleasant. He is the stores first impression and I was not impressed to say the least.

The staff is friendly and reasonable. The customer care team is helpful and knowledgeable, as well. am glad Academy Sports could be available for us through this pandemic.Although, I would recommend the store, but avoid the Outdoor Gourmet combination grill. We exchanged it twice and settled for another brand (Oklahoma Joes Smokers). We were told it does not usually happen with the Outdoor Gourmet grill, but two out of two gets zero stars.The overall customer satisfaction is superior.P.S. The stock employee Mike should not have customer interaction if he cannot resist supplying condescending phrases and comments upon grill pick-ups.

Went today to buy a M&P shield, decent gun at a decent price. When it came time to purchase I presented my active duty military orders and CAC which put me in Missouri which by Missouri LAW is enough to sell me the firearm. The kid behind the counter didn’t know what to do which is understandable since they don’t have a lot of military where I’m stationed. They called the manager and the manager told the guys at the counter that they were NOT allowed to sell me the firearm since I am not a Missouri resident even though I am ACTIVE DUTY stationed in Missouri. This place does NOT know the law and the manager should either study up on the laws or be let go.

Came in to exchange some clothes for a smaller size and or course couldnt find the receipt. The staff was very helpful and willing to help me out. Exchange was quick and easy. My husband needed fishing line and one of the staff spent time helping him puck out different lines for different amd helped him with his new reel. We have become big fans and will keep shopping here.

From the moment we walked in to the moment we left the customer service was non existent. I was interested in purchasing a hand gun and the man over in that area was on his cell phone and could not even be bothered at making a sell and when I did ask a question he seemed annoyed to have to answer and stop his phone call, so I walked away.My fiancé was also looking at shoes had numerous pairs she was interested in buying. The guy who was in shoes could not even say one word to us yet came and put the shoes away that we were interested in. While she had her back to them. So we had to start over and get the shoes again. Again, could not say one word to us yet could talk to his team members that came to visit with him and complain about everything. He even rolled his eyes at us at one point. I even made sure we were putting the shoes back that we decided not to get and did not leave them out. The associate was standing near us for awhile and could not say one single word to us. We felt bad for wanting to spend money in your establishment and there were other family’s who felt the same way.I was interested in some shirts also, the young lady who was in the clothing section also did not say one word to me. She also seemed annoyed that I was in her section. On a positive note the clothes she was folding looked great.Over all, we will not be back to academy the quality of customer service has went down hill dramatically. The associates have no sense of customer service, no commitment to customer satisfaction. We were in the store for over an hour and a half and not one person spoke to us until we checked out. Unacceptable.

Great place to go get some pellets for your smoker. Good price on them and ammunition. Friendly customer service and pretty good prices on work boots.

I am a frequent shopper at this, and other Academy Sports locations. I went today and purchased a new hunting rifle, for my son’s 16th birthday. When I got home, I noticed there were several scratches on the rifle. And, upon further inspection, there was a sticker on the bottom of the box that said “display”. The salesman never disclosed to me that, I was purchasing a display model. He went in the back and brought out a box, with what I assumed was a brand new rifle. And the price of the brand new rifle, was the same as a display model, so there was no advantage to purchasing a display model. I called the store and the manager offered to take 10% off the purchase price. I am very disappointed and I will know longer shop at any of their locations. There are too many other options of places to shop at in the area.

Great selection of home gym equipment exercise gear fitness apparel. Super helpful sales people can always help you find what you need and if they don’t have it in their store they’ll have it online haven’t been here yet to get some thing I couldn’t find an outdoor lovers paradise
