I was in town for the weekend so I decided to do an espresso tour of downtown! This was visit #2I ordered the Thaddeus Double Espresso and it was served with a spoon! This wins extra points because everyone knows that a good shot of espresso should be stirred not swirled!!!The espresso was well prepared and you could very easily taste the brown sugar tasting notes presenting themselves as I started sipping the shot. Love this. I think caramel and brown sugar are my favorites in coffee. There was a heavy presence of fruit once the shot began to cool, not my favorite but I know a lot of people get excited about it! Like my other review from the weekend, I totally believe this place will make killer milk drinks based on how great the espresso tasted on its own.I really enjoyed the vibe of the shop and it’s location.

This coffee house has a happy vibe to it! Is it because of its off-center location, its relaxed seating areas or its smiling staff?! Maybe because of them all. The coffee is good and that makes the whole experience one that is easy and enjoyable.

Visiting from out of town and popped in on a stroll around town. Had the one of their seasonal drinks and it was amazing! They got some cool outdoor seating as well. Pet friendly

Came in with my tiny dog to get a takeaway coffee. The barista made us stand outside in the rain while she prepared it. So the dog doesnt have to sit in here, she told us.She forgot the splenda and skimped on the cream.So much for the mantra on the window, No matter where you are from, were glad youre our neighbor.

Has lots of vegan options and probably the strongest coffee in Lancaster City compared to its competitors. The staff are fun and nice folks and Gabriel is extremely knowledgeable. One day I asked way to many questions and he had all the answers and then some. Emily is also very kind and they are one reason I have started coming here instead of NHC. But the outdoor space is really dope and I believe the only garden style outdoor space at a coffee shop in Lancaster City

I love this coffee so much I got a pound last week when I was in Lancaster and will get more next time. The best flavor, in my opinion--and thats decaf. Strong, unique taste. First had it at Folklore Cafe in Etown. (No longer served in York) Hooked.

Ive been here many time but its always outstanding service, great coffee, and the perfect place to catch up with a friend.

This is my fiance and my favorite coffee shop. We just moved here and go here every weekend although my fiance wants to go every day haha but we get a bag and the barista will grind your preference, french style, manual drip etc etc. everybody is saying price is little steep but honestly the staff are dedicated to making great and delicious coffees and they will make it the way you want. They do offer baked goods I have not tried yet.

It was good coffee. Kind of expensive compared to other options in the area. I paid $6 for one small coffee just because it had planet based milk. I saw they had a vegan muffin or dessert but I didnt try it. The staff was very nice. I wish they would open for indoor dinning.

My favorite coffee shop of all time! The coffee is the amazing, the staff is super friendly, the customers are also super sweet, and the atmosphere is so welcoming! Also, not only is there shop amazing, but I can appreciate a coffee shop that keeps up on their instagram as well! It helps the community stay connected and the photography is also really great too!

This place is wonderful! The best coffee in Lancaster served by the friendliest people. They obtained the highest quality beans and have built relationships with farmers to pay a honest wage. Square One roasts the beans to where it should be and does not over roast. The owners and workers at Square One also care passionately about their community and social justice. Always Square One!!

Lovely venue and friendly staff

The drinks are always great and the atmosphere is relaxing and stylish. I love the outdoor dining area. I always get to run into people I know, so it feels like a real community gem.

Square One has extremely skilled baristas and delicious drinks. Their pumpkin spice latte is the best in Lancaster, not too sweet. I also love their regular coffee.

The display tells you everything you need to know. The also have non dairy alternatives and a great tea selection. Everyone is really nice would go there to have a good time.

Still does not allow indoor seating but the made-from-scratch poptarts and lattes are worth the trek to pick up!

Didnt have a good experience with them. Coffee is good but the staff is kind of stuck up. Im glad they have loyal customers they deserve. I didnt feel welcomed at all. And this was after a visit where they burned my hand while handing me an extremely hot teapot with no plate.

A small coffee shop with artsy rustic design. Indoor seating is limited, but there is a lovely patio in the back. The service is always superb! The baked goods here are delicious, and we always get the espresso- flavorful, not bitter. The lattes are good as well. A gem in Lancaster if youre looking for a quick breakfast on the go!

Get to the cafe after it should be open. Waitress behind the counter locked door pouring out side at the door. So me and my kids can only review them as unwilly to have customers. Thanks for the soggy morning.

I visit Square One regularly, and they absolutely deserve their 5-Star rating. Starting with their actual product, the coffee is amazing. Its rich and flavorful, and better than anything Ive gotten anywhere else. They have a great selection of teas, as well, and a wide range of flavor syrups (many made in-house), and milks, so lots of vegan options available!The service is always top-notch. Everyone who works there is kind and fun to talk to. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a coffee shop in or around Lancaster City. Its Starbucks-priced coffee, but it exceeds Starbucks quality by far.

I think they have wonderful coffee. I get my beans for my home coffee from here and they are top notch. I really appreciate that they do a lot of medium roasts instead of all dark roasts. The coffee drinks made in the store are great as well. I went to one of their classes on manual brewing and found it to be fun and educational. Now my pour overs from home taste a lot more like they do from coffee shops.

This is my go to place for buying coffee and tea. They have (actually) fresh roasted coffee beans and (actually) fresh loose leaf tea. Everything Ive bought from here has tasted great. Recommend to anyone

I took my girlfriend for her first time here. She got the peppermint mocha special and its the best among the other cafes shes tried she said. They had their tomato bisque soup that day and I can still say it is BY FAR the best one Ive ever had. My girlfriend who hates tomato soup tried it and said shed have gotten one for herself had she believed me. The bread that comes with it is Herby and tasty too. She got the roasted red pepper sandwich and its packed with chicken and toppings. Cafe one eight is just a downtown gem through and through.

This is a cozy mom and pop shop I like to support. Great pre-made lunches you can grab and run with. Friendly staff. Stay a little or a while, they always make you feel welcome.

Cool place!My hot-chocolate was neither very hot nor very chocolate (not stirred up). I liked the atmosphere.

Good coffee. There was a sign hanging saying, buy one bag, get one 1/2 off (or something very similar). Although there was no dates on it, when we told the clerk we wanted to take advantage of the sale, he told us the sale ended yesterday. not very polite or customer friendly to not honor your posting. However, the coffee is good.

Very warm and inviting. Cozy!! The lavender latte is very good! Also big thanks to the staff for not misgendering me. It may seem like a small thing but it made me massively comfortable!

Cute, cozy little place with amazing exclusive, small-batch coffee. During the warmer seasons they have a small outdoor area. Food offerings could be better, but I keep going back for the perfect coffee. Very welcoming staff.

I love square one! I’ve gone to the cafe since I was in high school. I’d make special trips into the city just to get coffee here. I’m lucky now because I work just around the block so if I ever want good coffee or a break I just stop over! The staff is always kind!

Im not big on coffee. I heard a lot of people liked this place so I was expecting it to be crowed and to have a coffee tax price tag. I was pleasantly surprised! The coffee was great, the cost very reasonable, and it was very cozy and not crowded! I will definitely stop by here when Im in Lancaster again.

Wonderful coffee! A very warm, welcoming and inclusive space. Its easy to see that the owners and employees value diversity and inclusivity, and it can clearly be seen in the space. Friendly, kind, and helpful, the employees are always willing to go the extra mile. Food and drinks are great too, which certainly helps with the entire experience!

I enjoy the courtyard and vibe. The menu is a little limited. If youre looking for gluten free/dairy free options, your pickings are slim. The extraction of the coffee was correct and the quality of the product is good!

I am always up for trying little hole in the wall places. This is a super cute, pretty small, coffee shop. The coffee wasnt exactly my favorite (although Ive been told I have a odd taste for coffee) and it would probably be awkward to go here with a group any bigger than 2 people because of how their seating is set up. Their prices are average for the area and their small menu has a little something for everyone to try.

What can I say?! For 15 years I have known of this coffee shop. Best in downtown Lancaster, I believe. If not for Square One, Id be lost in space for the past six years.

I like this place. Its the coffee shop I frequent the most but thats mostly due to its close proximity to the library. I havent had a bad a cup of coffee or tea here but I do wish theyd serve hot food. Baked goods are typically fresh.

The coffee is amazing and I like the aura of the café, but the service could use some improvement.The barista placed a boiling tea kettle in my bare hands, spilling some of the BOILING water down my wrist.

Amazing coffee, whether you get espresso or pour-over. Their cappuccini are the correct size (6 oz--they know what theyre doing). I love their beans (Ethiopian, Rwandan and Tanzanian are my favorites). The comfortable seating and local artwork make a really great atmosphere. Also the back garden--sat out there for the first time the other day--what a great spot!

First time got a coffee and a cookie and was really impressed may become a usual.

They offer a good selection of brews. Im a big Chemex fan, so I was excited to see they offered that option! Ended up going with the cold brew, very good. Cool atmosphere and nice staff!

Honestly never had their coffee, I only get lattes. Caramel to be exact. hands down the best lattes in the city. No questions asked. Very on point and very consist. Iced and hot are great. This place made me very snobby with lattes now.

I wanted to love the coffee so badly - they say you shouldn’t need cream or sugar in the cold brew because it’s THAT good - but my brew was bitter and tasted sour. So disappointed. The store is pleasant - but so is Starbucks - and they won’t give me eyes when I ask for cream in my coffee.
