Interesting take on some classic, southern food. You won’t be disappointed. Had the truffle fries, fries Toms, Shrimp & Grits and meatloaf. All were good in their own right. The S&G was rich and tangy. Unexpected flavors that worked really well.

Great service. The stuffed french toast reminded me more of a pancake but it was decent. The eggs were over cooked. The mimosas tasted more like beer rather than champagne. It took forever for the food to come out. The atmosphere and vibe is beautifully modern. Overall I would come back and try something else.

Tried out Cafe 4 for the first time today and the food and experience was wonderful. I got the low country shrimp and it was rich and tasty. The atmosphere was modern and beautiful. From the moment we walked the hostess greeted us with a smile and our server Megan was attentive and very nice, even the manager stopped by and she made sure we enjoyed everything. It made us feel taken care of and our stomachs very happy! we will be back again

We came here on Saturday afternoon and it was our first time here. We were looking for lunch but still went ahead with brunch. The staff was very attentive and courteous. My wife and I ordered mimosa, cheese steak and apple pie. Mimosas were strong ++ for that. We knew we would not finish our whole meala and ended up splitting cheese steak. It was perfect portion for two. Fries were really crisp and fluffy. I liked their seasoning on them. We ordered apple pie for dessert. Holy cow! We did not expect a whole pie. Lol. It was delicious. Only thing I would comment is apple pie could have been cooked few mins longer. Dough was inconsistently cooked and instead of apple slices, I would have preferred diced apples. Overall it was a great experience.

Lovely location, lovely cocktails, lovely food and all in all a great time.I brought my mom here and missed brunch by 15 minutes, but we still had a good time and really good food and drinks. Im definitely coming back for brunch next time!My mom had the pecan salmon with crispy Brussels and soft and semi-sweet tasty carrots. It was a great dish. The fish was cooked perfectly. The sprouts were semi-crispy and soft and the carrots were spot on. A great choice at $26. Well worth being one of the more expensive items on the menu.I tried the pom mimosa which was a perfect brunch cocktail (or anytime tbf), and the fish tacos. I liked the fish tacos, but it was more like cheese, cabbage tacos and not so much fish. I saw the fish... A tiny piece way at the bottom of the taco, but it was very overwhelmed by the rest of the taco filling. Still tasty. Still liked it, but wont get it again. We also got the whipped potatoes and homemade chips as sides and both were really good. The potatoes were smooth with a great flavor and the chips were crispy and seasoned, although came with a very generic remoulade sauce.Lastly I decided to get crazy and order a Briar Patch cocktail (honestly, I saw how cool it looked coming to a table next to us, so had to try it) and was not disappointed, from the presentation to the flavor... Nicely done.We wanted the butterscotch bread pudding, but they were out, so we ended up with apple pie, which was delish and MASSIVE! I MEAN MASSIVE! and at only $5.50 a hella amazing deal! Omg, covered in vanilla ice cream, this has to be at least a quarter of a whole pie!A lot to take home, and well worth traveling downtown for. We will be back to try other things and have no doubt all will be delish!

Went for a friend’s birthday. She had reservations and we met the party there so we were able to sit immediately.I ordered the cheesesteak and did another girl. A friend got the fish and chips and our other friend ordered the shrimp and grits (it doesn’t say shrimp and grits but it is-it’s called “LOW COUNTRY SHRIMPandouille sausage, red peppers, tomatoes, onions, goat cheese, cajun cream sauce”). She doesn’t like grits so they let her substitute it for linguine. My food was ok. The cheese sauce was good but the meat was a little dry. I was not thrilled with the bread and didn’t eat it other than trying one bite.If I were to get it again I would get not bread and extra cheese sauce to make it less dry and dip my fries in.

The Tennessee Cheesesteak and the Low Country Shrimp were absolutely delicious. The grits had the perfect texture with the shrimp in the background with a perfectly cooked texture and complimentary flavor. The calamari batter is fluffy and light while the creamy sriracha sauce provides the perfect amount of heat, might want to ask for cocktail sauce on the side for a more traditional calamari dish.

We showed up around 2-2:30pm to put our names in for a table. We were told that it would be about a 30 minute wait, which we were fine with. So, we left and waited for a text letting us know our table is ready. We browsed some shops, and went for a drink at a neighboring bar. We were tourist, and didnt know much about the place. Finally, around an hour later, we still hadnt gotten a text, so we went to check on the status. We were told we could be seated, but that they wouldnt be ready to serve dinner until about 4pm. I told the hostess that it would have been nice to know that when we first inquired. She argued and was rude with me saying that we had only been waiting for 20-30minutes, when we had receipts from the other places proving otherwise. We finally got seated, and they compromised some, and let us order dinner at about 3:45pm. I still only got an appetizer, and my plate was the last to come out, and they were out of bread for some of their sandwiches. Overall, horrible experience and would not recommend. Hopefully this helps other tourists.

We went here for dinner on a Sunday night. The fried green tomatoes appetizer was delicious, chicken and waffles were very good too. A couple folks in our party also had a wedge salad and a Greek salad, neither were very good. The real issue with the place is the time it took to get our food. It took over 40 minutes to get our food from the time we ordered. Unfortunately, nothing was done or acknowledged about our long wait. With many other restaurants in market square, I’d recommend looking elsewhere for dinner.

First off I want to recognize our server, Carly E. Having worked in the restaurant industry I have a deeper appreciation than most patrons. They were slammed Saturday morning during the farmers market. I have brain issues due to cancer. I’m a little foggy at times. This caused me to ask her constantly for different things. She was on point. Very courteous and professional. My personal opinion of her, she is definitely an asset to the restaurant. My potatoes were lukewarm. She got that squared away quickly.Onto the food….. when the issue with my potatoes was taken care of, I was blown away by the taste. It was outstanding! The fried chicken is nothing to write home about. But, that sawmill gravy? It really set off the chicken. That was very tasty. I do think they need to update their chicken recipe. I did not say anything about the biscuits to her. However, I think the recipe needs to be updated. They need to be more light and fluffy. They had the texture and feel of something that came out of the can & had been left out after breakfast. It appeared very brown on the outside with the taste & texture of being left out for an hour. Other than that, restaurant was very clean with a nice atmosphere. I do recommend going here. The food is very good. They just need to do a little tweaking.

My husband and I came for Brunch. Cafe 4 was recommended to us by a work friend. We are new to the area and wanted to find a good spot. There were so many good sounding things on the menu we had a very hard time choosing what we wanted. We started with the Warm Pimento Cheese Dip with Naan and House Made Pepper Jelly. It was fantastic. Perfect amount for 2 people. Our food came out quickly after that. I had an Eggs Benedict Burger. It was really good, very juicy. I would have liked a little more hollandaise sauce but other than that, it had really good flavor. My husband had the Market Square Breakfast. I love that it came with a tiny jar of strawberry jelly. This may be our new favorite place to eat. Were really excited to go back and try some other items. I have my heart set on the Baked Mascarpone Suffed French Toast with Starwberry Compote next time ♡

I will never recommend nor return to Café 4. My husband and I went to the restaurant to enjoy a nice evening out, and it was made clear by the service we never received on the outdoor patio that we were not welcomed. We were seated at a two top in the center of the patio space. We sat for over twenty minutes watching every other table immediately surrounding us receive service from the same waitress – who by doing so passed our table countless times avoiding eye contact and never offering to help us. We tried to give the benefit of the doubt when we finally flagged her down to request ice water. We even attempted kind conversation with her when she dropped off the drinks. Yet again, from that point forward, we were never acknowledged or served. After more than half an hour of this treatment, we decide to confront the waitress before leaving. Her response to us not being served was that we were not her assigned table and she thought her fellow waitress was helping us. Interesting response given we had to ask for help to even get water and that her fellow waitress never came near our section of the patio the entire time we were seated. When we ask whether she mentioned to her fellow waitress that we were not being helped, she had no response. Her lack of professional courtesy was unbelievable. When we requested to speak to the manager inside, we were approached with an immediate apology as suddenly the manager knew exactly what had happened. Yet the excuses continued as she explained her servers have tunnel vision to only serve their assigned tables, and there was a last-minute change to the patio table assignments. We continue to express how the lack of service was not only unprofessional but made us both feel discriminated against, and she disputes our feelings stating this could certainly not be the case. Rather than professionally addressing the situation and respecting how we were made to feel, she asks us to tell her how to fix the situation. Why should we have to tell you how to fix your lack of management and service? Poor leadership, poor training, poor service, and complete lack of respect for others. Never again. (from an interracial couple in Knoxville, TN)

After watching several groups leave and still waiting at 11:40am we decided to go inside and check our status on the waitlist. At the host stand two people in front of us were told it would only be a 15 minute wait. We knew something was up. Upon asking the host if we were next in line she scrolled on the tablet only to not find our name or the number we had given. There was no apology, only an “I guess I can seat you right now”. I have never in my life had such a careless interaction in this restaurant. Do better.
