As a renter, I did not get to choose the company to first try to repair my AC, but ended up replacing my AC. I am so very glad it was Chaffee Air! The first gentleman (I feel bad, I didnt get his name) to come out to try to repair, was great. He did his best to get it working, but ultimately recommended replacement. The installation crew (David, Duncan, and Roger) that were here today were amazing! Polite, professional, courteous, punctual, I simply cannot say enough. They also really seemed to care about doing the job right – even the clean-up afterwards. Highly recommend this company!

I am an extremely satisfied Chaffee Air customer. Mark Reynolds came to my home to give me an estimate and he explained everything thoroughly and answered all my questions. He was professional and did not use any sales tactics to pressure me to buy. I compared his quote with others I received and felt that Chaffee, while not the cheapest, was definitely the best value. Booking was easy and on the day my mini splits were installed, Mark and the installation crew arrived early and ready to work. Roger, Dustin, and the rest of the crew were exceptionally courteous. After 4 years of dealing with an HVAC system that was thrown together with random parts and required repair after repair, I finally bit the bullet and decided to get a new system. Chaffee had the best reviews in town by far, so after a few quotes I decided to go with them (and their very reasonable price.) Every single person I came in contact with was as nice as can be and super professional. Ill always use Chaffee in the future and recommend them to anyone without question.

Today we had Rex come out and have nothing but great things to say after! This company went above and beyond for me at a time when they didnt have to. Our HVAC system broke a week before our wedding. This was incredibly stressful b/c I would be gone for 10 days and a petsitter was supposed to stay at the house (and it was late July/90+ degrees). I called several companies about a replacement and they all said the same thing. There was a supply and labor shortage and they were booking about a month out. Jacob from Chaffee took a huge amount of his time to call around and find a unit that they could get in before the wedding. He was extremely professional and maintained contact through the whole process. He even brought over a window unit for us to use until they could get the unit installed. The installers did a great job and were also extremely professional. Jacob took the time to come back after the install and make sure all was ok and answer any questions. I dont normally leave reviews for companies but I feel like Chaffee Air (especially Jacob) did such an incredible job for us that I had to leave a review.

A problem showed up with one of my Trane heat pumps. I initially chose Chaffee Air on account of the prevailing number of positive Google reviews. The Chaffee Air tech just left and my problem(s) have been fixed, and Im feeling motivated enough to come on here and add to the series of excellent reviews. First off - I got a very quick turn around on my appointment. When Luka arrived he showed himself as competent, diligent, focused and informative. As he left I had this thought - Chaffee Air are lucky to find a young man that can represent them like this. Also, I felt that the cost of the service call was not a shock to my wallet and something that I was happy to pay....in order words, I felt that I got good value.

Could not be happier with the work I received from Chaffee Air. The tenants in one of my rental properties informed me at 7:30am that the heat went out. I called Chaffee after hours number at 7:35am. I received a return phonecall at 7:45am and they were at my rental property by 8:30am. Greg Duncan showed up on time, he was professional, he was personable, and he was extremely knowledgeable. The repair was completed in a timely fashion and he was just a great guy to talk with. I will be using Chaffee for my personal home and my 4 rental properties, all located in 37917.

Best service of AC you can find in Knoxville.I called Chaffee Air to check my furnace last year. Mark came and gave me some good suggestions, but he didnt push me to buy any thing from them.I kept using my old AC until this Summer when I found it was not working anymore after 15yrs. So I called Chaffee Air and Mark gave me almost same quote he gave 1 year old and got it installed by his colleagues quickly with about half day, and everything works well. I felt they were very professional, nice, clean, and careful about what they were doing.I think they are best in Knoxville area. And Im very glad we have this company serving us in Knoxville area and make it a better place!

My HVAC stopped working in the middle of the night. I called at 7 AM to have someone come service my unit. They had someone out to me by 9 AM! Our downstairs AC went out and we got quotes from a few of the big names in the Knoxville area. Not only did Chaffee offer the best deal, we got a better product and experience. We were able to replace both downstairs and upstairs units with Trane for a little less than what one of the competitors was quoting Goodman. The day of install they sent 2 teams to replace both units in one day. The other HVAC providers I had quoted were going to separate the install dates. The installers were extremely professional and did an amazing job. I highly recommend using Chaffee for any HVAC needs!

At the beginning of December our heat went out on the coldest night of the year. I called Chaffee air and they got me on the schedule to install a new Trane Heat Pump. When they came to install, the crew was on time, extremely helpful and did a fantastic job. We have both our units replaced in the last year. Last year we had many quotes but Chaffee won our quote and it was one of the best Decision. We have two dogs and it was our upstairs unit that went down they brought us a window unit so we could sleep comfortably until the got ours replaced. They are fast and hard working. This was my first time doing business with Chaffee Air. They were recommended by a friend. I called for an appointment in the evening and Mr Rex and James arrived early the next morning. My unit is a few years old with a bad attitude but Mr Rex was able fix the problem, enabling me to buy some time before replacing it. Was having problems with my AC, called Chaffee Air and they had a tech over in about 20 minutes , They found that the compressor was not working correctly. We decided to replace the entire system as it was 16 yrs old. Mark Reynolds came over and showed us the new AC and heating unit they thought was best for our house. On the day of installation the installation team showed up a bit early (awesome) Rick and his team did an excellent job of installing our new system, they were very professional and had the AC and heat installed quickly. they also did a great job of cleaning up. Mark Reynolds is very knowledgeable in this industry. He recommended what was needed for our home and it fit within our budget !! In fact we got more than we had bargained for in a very nice Trane system. Out of the three AC companies we contacted to bid - they were the best. Rick, Brandon, and another installer were awesome. Rick did the job as if it was his own home. He reinstalled the unit to comply with the best filter and easy access for us -based on our older duct work.. 5 Star !! Rex Chaffee conducts his business with a high degree of integrity, character and compassion. Last week my daughters AC went out. Since she has only lived in Knoxville a few years, she did not have any idea who best to call. She randomly chose a company that told her she needed the entire system replaced due to a burned out compressor. Told her in fact this is a fire hazard, due to it drawing 152 amps of current, even though it is on a 60 amp breaker. Rex Chaffee was contacted to give an estimate for replacing the unit, since this first company was going to charge $9000. Mr Chaffee stated Let me first check to see if this unit really needs replacing before we go down that road. He did not have to do that. He could have quoted the job, and been on his way. When he checked, he determined that a capacitor was bad. In fact, there was no way to even test the compressor to know if it was faulty due to this bad capacitor. Mr Chaffee went all the way back to his shop to find a capacitor, came back and installed in order to test the compressor. Turns out, only the capacitor needed replacing. This first company ABSOLUTELY DID NOT test the compressor, there was no way that they could have with this bad capacitor. Do yourself a favor, and call Chaffee first. I wish my daughter had.

Incredible Customer Service!! Chaffee installed a new Mitsubishi heat pump for us last month on our newly constructed garage and did a tremendous job. Last Friday, had an ASAP notification/call from our contractor with a short notice heads-up that the stone masons were coming in the afternoon to begin applying stonework to the exterior garage and that the heat pump cables needed to be loosened from their attachments to the wall in order for the masons to apply stone behind their cable lines and the cabling protective cover. I called Rene and contacted Mark in a panic--even though Chaffee was booked solid 10 days out, Mark sent Rick over within the hour to have the cables detached from the wall. Ive said it once before and need to say it again--the Chaffee folks are truly Customer Focused and stand behind their care of their Customers. They have high quality products, top-notice Customer Service, and go above-and-beyond to help their customers. A++ Service. Thank you!!

We moved into our new home in Farragut and planned to replace both of our HVAC units for upstairs and down. We shopped around and Chaffee gave us a fair price, but also spent the time during their sales visit to do a very thorough inspection to sure we had the proper sized units and that our duct work was in good shape, something the other bidders did not do.Their very competitive pricing included replacing some of our duct systems as well. The installation crews arrived on time as scheduled and completed their work in about 6 hours for both systems, much faster than I thought possible. Their work was well coordinated and with a high level of craftsmanship. They cleaned up the work areas inside and out, and even vacuumed the floors where they had been. All trash was picked up outside and I could hardly tell they had been in my yard, except for the two shiny new Trane units quietly running. This was a major project, and it was handled more smoothly than i thought possible. We are very pleased with the sales process, installation workmanship, and pricing. Chaffee exceeded our expectations!

Had routine maintenance performed on furnace. Technician called on his way with an estimated time of arrival(30mins early); arrived right on time. Tech was professional, friendly and listened to concerns. After completing the maintenance he explained everything he had performed and took payment.I used another competitor in north Knox county who has a famous historical persons name; they did good work but were very pricey. I feel like I got the exact same service if not better for a significant cheaper rate. Will continue to use this company for future needs!

Great HVAC company! They installed our new Trane gas pack in short order and added two new ducts and vents to a room for us. they were quick, only at the house about 4 hours and we only waited four days from the time we ordered our new equipment. All employees were nice and answered my questions. price wise they came in the middle of the pack and I got four quotes! Ultimately we went with Chaffee because of the knowledgeable sales rep who was willing to talk details on the equipment, ie pros and cons, sizing, budget goals. He was not in a rush to push me one way or the other. Go with Chaffee.

I have used Chaffee Air over the past several years for replacing two older residential air conditioning units. The prices were very competitive and the service was excellent. Since installation, I have asked for service twice for minor problems and each time, Chaffee Air responded promptly and at no cost. One service call was a warranty item, the second was so minor that they performed the fix at no cost. Chaffee Air is a great company to due business with!

I have had only great experiences with Chaffee Air. Our first annual routine service was due and boy am I glad they came out. We had accidentally turned on the emergency heat on our thermostat which was running up our electric bill. The technician was extremely knowledgeable, thorough and spent extra time showing us ways to monitor our usage and save money. It’s great to have connection with a company I know will take great care in the years to come for maintenance on our unit.

Im extremely impressed with everything and couldnt be more pleased. My a/c went out on July 5 and I called a company I have a contract with. They charged me 270.00 for absolutely nothing as we still had no air. They knew I had a senior living in the house and that this needed immediate attention. Needless to say, they never got back to me the next day so I decided to write them off permanently The next morning, which was a Monday I called Chaffee and within 48 hours they had a brand new HVAC system installed with an excellent price. These guys are excellent!! We did as anyone would do and got 4 total estimates. Rex, the owner, did ours because his Sales Manager was on vacation. He was the only one who got in our attic and noticed some things that needed to be fixed to which they did. All the others said we dont need to go up there. For Rex, again the owner, to be the only one to go up in our attic spoke volumes of the kind of work he would do. Very trust worthy and professional. The 3 places we did not use stated would take around 2 days to install 2 HVAC units. Rex and his men completed ours in one (5 to 6 hours). All this and he also beat the competitors price! I would recommend Chaffee Air to anyone and everyone and would give 100 stars if I could. Great job guys!!

Highly recommend Chaffee Air. Had several quotes for a new unit back in Oct. 2019 and ended up using Chaffee based on the price as well as their attention to detail even in the quote process. The installation team was top notch and very thorough and professional. I was extremely o impressed with the company, the unit and the customer service. Two weeks ago they installed a system for my parents in the same thorough and professional manner and got them taken care of very quickly. Today, 6 mos later I had an issue with our wall thermostat unit. Received a call back from the owner as well as two other employees to help rectify the situation. Thanks to Shawn it was taken care of over the phone with just a few adjustments to the thermostat because there had been a recent automatic update. Ive had a few of the popular companies come out and service/repair my units and all the technicians did was try and sell me a new unit. My unit is exactly 10 years old this year. Chaffee Air has NEVER tried to hustle me a new unit. They are 100% honest in all of their service and repairs.A year ago I had a company tell me I needed a new furnace/AC unit after being called out for service due to my upstairs unit not blowing cold air, so I obviously called Chaffee Air for their opinion. The technician came out, quoted me a part for my upstairs A/C unit, ordered it up, two days later they came out to install.....two technician came out and told me that it wasnt what they originally thought and was able to get me running with a simple fix, saving me $600+. They could have replaced the part, charged me, and I would have never known.....I would have been happy with having cold air. With that being said, in my opinion, Chaffee Air shows service integrity.Today I had service done on my furnace/AC, Greg D. was the technician that showed up. Coincidentally, my neighbor and I were talking about their service call they just had on their A/C, and had nothing but good things to say about him. Greg was extremely presentable and professional. I watched over his shoulder and he had no problem answer all questions I had. Sean came for heating maintenance and he went the extra mile. He got rid of some pipes that were unsightly left over from when we had gas heat. I didnt realize they could be minimized so quickly and for no extra charge. He also changed our filter while doing the heating maintenance though the size of our filter is unusual. We have a lot of experience with Chaffee and appreciate the quality and consistency!

Could not be more pleased with their customer service. Our house wasnt cooling yesterday and we called a company that had been to our house a few times for annual checks to our system but had never done any service. The employee that showed up tried to scare and upsell me to replace my entire duct system due to one collapsed piece of duct work. Told me how dangerous it was and I really needed to upgrade. I asked if the existing type of duct was so dangerous, why hadnt his company suggested I replace it before now and he couldnt give me an answer. I didnt trust the info that I was receiving so paid them for the diagnostic call and asked them to leave. I went online and saw the great reviews Chaffee had and called them and they were out first thing the next morning, quoted me a fair price to replace with existing duct type and my house is cool again! Thank you all so much for your honesty.

Chaffee REALLY saved us, and we’ll never use another company while in Knoxville. Prior to calling them, we had another company come out to check our HVAC to see why it wasn’t working. That company told us the compressor was bad, and the entire system needed replacing. They quoted us $9000 to replace the system (note: this is for a house ~950 sqft).Thankfully, we contacted Chaffee for a second opinion. He found it was simply a bad capacitor, and we absolutely did not need a full system replacement. Rex changed out the part and for a VERY small fraction of the original quote from the first place, we have functional AC again.We really recommend Chaffee Air. We called and told him the compressor was bad (since that is what we thought from the previous company) and that we needed an estimate on a total system replacement. Rex could have come and did no investigation and just try to sell us the new system, but he didn’t. He checked the system first and tried to identify the problem himself, and then only replaced what needed fixing. This company saved us THOUSANDS of dollars and I’ll recommend them every time.

Showed up on time. Replaced my old split unit and rerouting some of the duct work in less than 3 hours. Didnt leave a mess. The Trane unit is quite and doesnt run all the time like the old system. Rex and team hit out the ball park. Thank you guys.

I had this unit installed in January 2018. I was very impressed with the installation. Everything was neat and tidy, and very timely. It was the coldest day of the winter and I was very glad to get everything up and going quickly. They took their time in showing me the features of the thermostat, and I felt like I had a very good handle on the operation when they left. I highly recommend this company.

Chaffee recommended additional work at a lower price than their competitor.Our new Trane HVAC system was installed 10 days later and we could not be happier. The installation team, led by Rick Booth, arrived early in the morning and went straight to work. They were all professional and respectful, ensuring no damage to our home during the installation. They identified a few problems related to the old installation and addressed them so that the new system could be installed appropriately. Rick showed us how to operate the thermostat and told us where we could find more detailed information online.We needed an additional vent run in one room, but Rick didn’t have the parts with him. He returned the very next day and meticulously installed the new vent run.We called the office with a question. Both Mark Reynolds and the office called me back immediately. We had an issue where the thermostat wouldnt shut off and heat was blowing even though the setting was on AC. My wife called and Chaffee Air sent out a tech right away. It seemed as if he fixed the problem by installing a thermostat my wife had purchased at Lowes. Unfortunately, a few days later - and unknown to me since I was at work - the same issue started again. My wife called Chaffee Air and this time two techs came out - Rex and the other she cannot recall his name. They determined the earlier tech had missed an exposed wire outside that was making the unit default to constant heat. They profusely apologized, fixed the problem while checking out the whole unit and did not charge for the visit. They would not even take a tip that my wife offered.Mistakes happen and its how (and if) theyre rectified that matters and Chaffee Air stepped up and earned a five star rating. We wont hesitate to call them in the future....well just make sure to request Rex!

Ive had Chaffee Air come to my home for air conditioning repair twice in just a couple of months for different issues. The technician was thorough, explained in detail what had to be done and the unit was repaired quickly. The second time I called for help the technician was here within the hour and had the repair done quickly.I am a retired widow and appreciate this company for dependable and prompt service. The technician was so kind and pleasant and again took the time to explain what repair had to be done. I will be calling them again when needed and refer them to anyone who asks.

Rex Chaffee and his team of professionals are THE BEST! I have used this company for over 10 years and they have never failed to exceed my expectations. Chaffee installed a new gas furnace and air conditioning unit to replace a very aged one in my recently purchased new home. The old furnace quit during the night so I called Chaffee Air and they had it running by the end of the day... then they gave me credit for the service call when I decided to get a new one. On the day of install they arrived promptly. It was a rainy day and they took great care to protect my carpet, etc., during the removal and replacement process. Those two guys worked hard and steadily to get the job done, then did an excellent clean-up job afterwards. They were very professional. Over the years I have used Chaffee Air to upgrade and replace units in two other locations. The quality of their product and service continues to get them an ongoing A+ rating.

Had an a/c emergency with stopped up drain. Called office, lady was professional and great to work with. Gregg showed up within 30 minutes. Discovered problem plus incorrectly installed drip pan in attic a/c. I liked service and had them come back for annual furnace check. Great service and great team.

I called at 9am Monday morning and someone was at my home by 11:00 am. Very professional. The installation crew was punctual and friendly; I was very impressed by their work ethic . Couldnt recommend them more.

We lost our furnace around the coldest time of the year (so far). A friend recommended Chaffee Air. I made an appointment and they came out promptly. We decided on a new high-efficiency furnace and it was installed a few days later (would have been sooner, but my schedule got in the way). Chaffee did not try to over-sell or gouge me. The guys installing the furnace arrived on time and got us back in heat right away. Chaffee is now on the top of my list for heat and air.

Its truly nice when you discover a company that exhibits honesty and integrity. Chaffee has done that for me. Greg Duncan came to my home and repaired by HVAC unit. He discovered ants had taken up residence in my outside units switching system causing it not to turn on as requested by the thermostat. He could have included an endless number of charges but only charged me a trip charge. He cleaned everything up and now it works perfectly. KUDOS to the excellent staff and they have earned my business for anytime to come.

Praise to Chaffee Air. Last night when I arrive home I noticed that it was unusually warm. I looked at my thermostat and the inside temperature reading was 78 degrees and I had it set at 73. Preparing for the worse, Believing for the best this morning Im looking at several different heating and cooling companies and being that Im a review person, I ended up giving Chaffee Air a call. I spoke with the receptionist and explained my situation, I was called back within 15 minutes and she mentioned they would have someone over within an hour. I was promptly greeted by Rex and Corey. They were very professional, courteous and informative. The problem was diagnosed as soon as they removed the housing on the unit. The culprit was the capacitor. They replaced the part, cleaned the inside and outside of my A/C unit and replaced the foam insulation around the pipe that leads from the home. Needless to say Im extremely happy, no bait and switch just upfront, honest hard working guys. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Rex and Corey from Chaffee Air!

I have been using Chaffee since my home was built--except for that first service call when I used the people who installed my unit, which was a disaster. I should have known better than to use the people who screwed up my system in the first place. But Chaffee came along and fixed the problem the original contractor couldnt and did so quickly with friendly and affordable service. I have used them ever since and just used them again today. As always they did a great job, timely and affordable. When my unit finally dies Ill be sure to have them install the new one.

I recently had to replace our old HVAC gas and air unit due to lawn mowing accident. I called Chafee Heat and Air and he gave me a great quote on a Trane unit.They Installed it right away and hauled off the old unit. The crew was nice and professional. Our old 18 year old unit suddenly stopped working last month and after doing some research and discovering many outstanding reviews, I called Chaffee Air and Cooling. Sean came out and got the heat going again but said that our unit has seen its better days and recommended a new unit sometime in the near future. He helped us set up an appointment with Mark to discuss purchasing a new Trane unit and after meeting with Mark, who was extremely knowledgeable about what exact unit was needed, we decided to go with Chaffee Air.However,we needed a couple of weeks to decide on whether to finance or purchase the new unit or just cross our fingers and hope that our old unit would last a few more years, because unfortunately we were in the process of having remodeling done at the time of the old unit failure, and the last thing we needed was an unexpected expense to pop up out of nowhere.Understanding that we could nickel and dime our old unit to keep it running or bite the bullet and get a brand new Trane unit, my wife and I both decided to go with Chaffee Air and get the new unit. Mark was very patient while we took our time to decide on the purchase and never did try to pressure us with a quick decision. He then set up an installation date and the crew that arrived, led by Rick, was very kind and courteous and even though it was raining, they pitched a tent-like cover and were eager to get started and do the job and answered every question that we had .Rick was outstanding and made sure we were completely satisfied before they left.The new unit is awesome. It is nice and quiet when it is running and the heat flow is so much nicer AND warmer than our old unit. I cant wait to also see our future electric bills (for once) to see how much our new unit is saving us compared to the loss in savings the old unit was more than likely costing us.Over all, I would highly recommend the team at Chaffee Air & Cooling. They are a locally owned company and really make you feel like you are part of their family. We had a new unit placed about a year ago. Chaffee team was very polite and professional. They came on time and cleaned everything before they left. The unit has been working without any issues. We had some problems with our A/C at Church - during VBS week - and Chaffee sent out tech Greg Duncan. In less than a half an hour he had diagnosed the problem, a blown compressor, and the next morning before 8 he was back out replacing that compressor. Great service, great responsiveness, and a great company.

Chaffee has been a great company to work with. They’re an honest company and get your problem fixed quickly. We have used them for a new heat pump installation and annual maintenance. Both have been good experiences.

I just had 2 HVAC units serviced and 1 of the units repaired. Within 5 hours of my call, Chaffee arrived at my door. My service technician, Sean, did an amazing job of servicing my units - he even cleaned to outside of the units - they even look better. He spent lots of time diagnosing the reason one of the units wouldn’t function and returned in less than 24 hours with the new part. In addition, he spent extra time explaining everything to me. The diagnostics he was performing, why my part was not on the truck (older unit), and he showed me the old part and where the problem was. I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Chaffee. I have used them in the past and will continue to use them in the future. I highly recommend Chaffee!!

I called Chaffee Air after recommendations from my friends. The lady in the office was apologetic that they would not be able to come out the day I called. I told her no problem. Sean Miller came out the next day. He was very professional and had me look at the system and what was wrong with it so there would be no questions about what he was doing. After one month of buying new home in middle of summer our AC went out. Called Chaffee, they came out and installed a new Trane on a Sunday morning. We were so thankful for their quick response, friendly service, and knowledgeable technicians. They took extra time to teach us how to use our new system and even took time to walk us through the downstairs system.

Roger and Duncan replaced my thirty-six year old heat pump with a new Trane unit within a week or so after I had contacted Chaffee Air. The guys worked very hard and efficiently, and I was so pleased to have a new working air conditioning system! I would recommend Chaffee Air any time.

Today was my first maintenance visit from Chaffee Air. Sean was thorough in checking condition and maintenance on my heating systems and very informative in helping me understand how the two systems operate. I appreciate getting to know a company I like and can trust for maintenance and problem issues. Service on the AC units is automatically set up for spring giving me less to keep up with.

I chose them based on a recommendation from my brother who had a system installed a few years before me. The Trane they installed has been running great for almost 3 years now. Customer service has been excellent.

We were in the market for a new heat and air unit last fall through TVA. We contacted five contractors for bids. Of the five three actually came to the house. Two sent flashy salesmen, Chaffee sent the owner Rex. His bid was considerably less for a much better unit then the other two and his was quite thorough. Unlike the other two who were within cents of each other at the maximum bid amount. Rex was under by a considerable amount for a much better unit. He not only came for the quote but was also at our home supervising and working along side his crew for the day and a half it took to complete. They were honest, exceptionally courteous, and clean. Not one piece of material or trash was left behind. I was most impressed then as I am still today. I would recommend Chaffee to anyone.

Ive had these guys servicing my HVAC units for six years now. (They even installed a ductless Mitsubishi unit in my basement back in 2012, which has worked like a dream, and costs virtually nothing to run.) Rex runs a tight ship. His technicians know their stuff, explain anything you dont understand, work quickly, and will come back if you think they need to. Prices are extremely reasonable. Awesome company! I called the office at 5:15 on a Friday with an A/C compressor cycling on and off fully expecting to wait until Monday for an appointment. Rex called back 5 minutes later, arrived by 5:30, and had the problem fixed by 6:00. Can’t thank them enough and will definitely use them again in the future!
