Hillcrest is an amazing organization. They help the community and offer affordable goods. Every time I go there looking for a specific item I find it. Their selection is vast. They have great sales too. If you havent been yet you should. Also its very well organized so you dont have to sift though everything to find what you are looking for.

The volunteers here are awesome! They do such a great job of organizing the store! Everything is so clean and they are a TRUE thrift shop.... not like some other stores. What I mean is, the money raised here isnt going to make the owner rich. The money funds their mission!

Unfortunately I purchased this piece of furniture and 1st of all one of the guys helping me informed me that it would not work being tied to the roof of my van .. well I made it home no problem... and I live in another stateThen find two things that were in the bottom of it were missing from it . I am unhappy about being sold something then having peices taken from it

I do y understand if theyre a non profit and trying to help why are the prices firm? Seems there would be some flexibility for those on a budget

Love the deals they offer here. On top of taking percents off items they do a loyalty program where you can get up to $10 off your total. Lots of really nice items including furniture, jewelry, clothes, electronics and seasonal items. They also have sewing items. Love it here!

I lost a lot of weight recently and still have more to lose, so I didnt want to pay for new clothes that would be too big on me in only a couple of months.Hillcrest was the answer. I got a couple t-shirts for a couple bucks each at their outlet store and their main store had all clothing 50% off on Wednesday (today)... score! My $4.50 shorts were now $2.25 each. I wish they had more shorts my current size, but Ill be back in a couple months to get a smaller size, on Wednesday, of course.They also have a large selection of different furniture, from bedding, couches, tables and chairs, to desks and dressers. I saw a few refrigerators and stoves too.

Very clean and organized. We purchase clothes and books here! The mission of Hilcrest is excellent and helps so many people. We always find great deals and it’s a great place to donate to.Sometimes the lines can be very slow but it’s mostly volunteer ran.

Reasonably priced and great volunteer staff on hand. This thrift store actually helps people in the community unlike other thrift stores in the area and surrounding areas that get items free and then put outrageous prices on them. I have been shopping with Hillcrest for years now and will continue as long as Im in the area or within a reasonable distance.

One of the largest thrift stores we just happened to come across this as we were taking a friend to KCI, it has a large selection of furniture, household goods, clothing etc. Good prices as well !! Nicely set up too. Weve been back a couple times now and never leave this place empty handed.

This is the best thrift store in Kansas City, in my opinion. The prices are very reasonable, the store is clean and organized.

Ethan and the staff here are very professional and do amazing work for the local community. I loved picking through here I am from Denver, and found some amazing items! Stays crowded. Great prices, was able to make terrariums out of odd glass containers which they stock. Childrens books were great gifts for the kids at church and I have purchased my share of clothing, handbags and jewelry.

This is certainly the best thrift store I have ever been in in any state. Very well organized, friendly and motivated volunteers, large inventory of many things from hardware to baby clothes. Very reasonably priced, and dont forget the clearance store behind the main store where they sell items that did not sell in the main store for pennies on the dollar. They are better than most commercial, full price stores. Despite being a thrift store, the items they sell are usually good quality yet at amazingly cheap prices by even thrift store standards. Staff is fantastic. Most are volunteers who love what they do. The store is super clean and extremely well organized. They even have changing rooms to try on clothes! Yes, the changing rooms are back open! (Closed initially due to Covid-19.)They are continually stocking the shelves throughout the day with so many good things.They are a super safe establishment. Do not have a mask? They will sell you one for $1 right at the entrance. They have someone manning the table to (a) make sure all incoming customers are wearing masks and (b) to sell the masks to those that need them.My understanding is they are even taken extra precautions with everything donated to them! Meaning what you buy off the shelf will not be infected.

Wed is half off on clothes day. I also look for other things to to resell

Great, clean thrift store with lots of merchandise options that dont look all picked over. It also didnt smell musty like other thrift stores. It was organized well and there was a good variety. Plus, it is big so you dont feel crowded.Prices were fair in comparison to comparable thrift stores but that doesnt mean you couldnt come up with a few really good finds there!

I enjoy shopping at the Hillcrest Thrift Store. I seem to find something. I never leave empty handed. Price wise is reasonable.

It has all kinds of things at very reasonable prices some still have new stickers on them

Dvds are over priced. This is evident by how many you have. They are double stacked and too high to look at. Nobody is going to bother. 1.00 is an acceptable price and you will move the inventory quicker.

Bought a stereo from there and payed way more than it was worth if it worked properly. The cd player was completely broken. The speakers are blown and the reciever only plays static. Whole stereo system is broke. On top of that was overpriced. They only give store credit for 3 days after selling a broken product. Im usually the one who only leaves good reviews but this was upsetting.

Used to be premier deal hunting but now they sell their best stuff online (Poshmark, etc). Still very clean, neat and well organized. A little bit more price than other Northland thrift stores.

Thrift store with retail prices. They wanted 30 for the duck sells for 8. Same with this piece of Fire King bowl. If they have to mark their prices so high to be able to afford the overhead cost then they need to revamp And look at how theyre doing things.

Nicely laid out with staged examples of how to decorate with items, little vignettes around the store. Good prices and good merchandise.

I don’t visit the store very often but when I do it is always super clean and friendly place. I often find something that will make life easier and usually at a decent price. Only down side is the medical equipment is usually overpriced. Allot of people have no insurance or so, so insurance and rely on used. Have a heart that is something that’s a need. Anyway, I like the place.

I cannot say enough good things about this particular location. The prices are lower than Id expect for the quality of their items. It is extremely clean and well-organized. You will not be searching through bins and overstuffed shelves. It is very easy to find the sizes of clothing you are looking for, as the majority of the clothes are meticulously sorted by size. Even tablecloths and bedding are labeled with their sizes! Toys, small appliances, and electronics have always been in working order for me. Items that are part of a set are put together (i.e. dishes, toys with multiple parts, etc). Books are sorted and not thrown haphazardly on the shelves. I was surprised to find a lot of sheet music! The furniture is in very good condition, and there are always sales on top of their already reasonable prices. There are 3-4 registers or more open at once, so checkout is very fast. They even load big items like furniture for you! The staff is very happy and friendly. Be sure to join their rewards program because you will definitely be coming back. You earn a point for every dollar spent towards coupons ($1 off after $25 spent, $3 off after $50 spent, $10 off after $100 spent, etc). Ive easily redeemed 3 or 4 of the $10 coupons in less than a year.

Good place

My grandmother recently passed and we had personal arrangements with the apartment building to sell some of her items and take the rest from her apartment. Inquired with Hillcrest about POSSIBLY having them come but never gave consent and said would maybe call back. Hillcrest then cleaned out the apartment without notifying us and we can’t locate the furniture items the day of sale. It seems very immoral to do that and I am shocked it even happened.

This is the best thrift store that I am aware of supporting a wonderful ministry to aid the homeless. Everything in the store has been donated by very generous people and all workers except the management are long time devoted volunteers. The workers stock the store everyday and work extremely hard to make it a clean and welcoming environment. There is always a sale on something with the most popular sale being on the Wednesday 1/2 price clothing for seniors. You never know what you will find.

Do not expect to get a friendly service. They have great selections of items that people in need are grateful to buy. It helps if the employees working there to be Happy, and kind to all of the customers. You never know what others are struggling with. Mercy and compassion to all. Great buys always. Very clean and well organized. The items are also priced well. They have a great selection of sports stuff and holiday stuff. A decent amount of furniture. The didnt have a lot of toddler clothes so I will have to check back in hopes to find some.

This is my favorite thrift store. I donate items I no longer need and find things I do at a great price. The items are organized, they have nice displays. The lower level has furniture, sporting goods, household items, decor and tools. Love their philosophy, A Hand up, not a hand out!

Great selection but pretty expensive on certain items. Electronics like monitors for $70 with no guarantee to work go to Walmart get same specs for $30 more new and warrantied. Other electronics and monitors $20 with no rhyme or reason why there was a $50 difference in prices. Im not sure where the pricing comes from. Thats just some things though to be fair and most of it has a very wide selection of items. No returns. Stated when you are in the building.

This place is a hidden treasure shop. Clean and sorted into sections. Wide selection, sales boldly posted along with the month ahead just inside the door. People were helpful and warmly friendly. Items were varried and priced ok, slightly high but I remind myself that it is for a good cause even though I could use a little help too! Well lit with lots of parking.

Made my weekly stop at Hillcrest Thrift. Found a smaller exercise ball that is perfect for my grandchildren. I always find a treasure here.

Great place to find deals on anything you can imagine like clothes, games, household goods, appliances, furniture, electronics, and sporting goods. Selection changes all the time so I go back a lot to find new deals. Staff is always willing to help, too.

I love thrift stores! It wasn’t until we lived in woodsy state of Washington that we came to really appreciate thrift stores. The overall quality of furniture you could find was simply amazing! I bought a nice wooden-glass coffee table for $20 there and jokingly call it “grandma’s table” ..our “family heirloom” we like to tease guests when they put their feet on it, then proceed to put OUR feet on it after telling them how smart we were for getting it so cheap.Here though, you may have to dig around a little more.. but Hillcrest can be a fun place to visit. They have many practical items like scrub top and pants, to shoes, boots and mirrors. The furniture can sometimes be a let down to see though, the furniture that’s lightly used and in great condition always goes first. I swear, there’s back room deals happening only friends know about! Anyways...We found a drawer for $150, except when you opened the drawers, 2/4 were broken and were missing the wooden holder! I don’t have an eye for antiques so maybe I was missing something. But it felt like $150 for a drawer that could not be used as a drawer, maybe a possible project but would need some more money to remodel or just make it practical for use at home. The wood was light, flimsy and showed no sign of decent quality. There’s much furniture like this available.Thrift stores are unpredictable though and you have to keep visiting to experience the enjoyment and savings they have to offer. For convenience I enjoy coming here when I have time and the staff are friendly, don’t be afraid to challenge an appraisal and see if you can get it cheaper... bartering is also fun at Hillcrest.

Very high prices. They used to be fairly priced 5 years ago or so when they werent so greedy. They have a bunch of old people volunteering there who have no clue about pricing USED items. Many times they price their items higher than new. Arbitrary pricing where u buy one thing from them for $12 then years later when u donate it back to them you see it on the floor for sale at $50. Ridiculous. One time I had a half broken toy and asked them if they could lower the price since it was at new price and they acted like I was stealing food out of their mouths and were super rude and wouldnt budge. Not to mention they are getting tax breaks as a non-profit, getting all the items for free and not paying salaries and we dont know how much of their profits really go towards the programs they say they provide. I used to donate all my items to them. I havent since they became greedy, rude, and ungrateful for my donations and patronage. I have been selling my items on Facebook, or giving them directly to people in need , or donating toys and clothing to churches.

I rate this store well above 100%. I shop weekly for those in need only because I can afford excellent quality merchandise for the right price!Thank you all !

Great place they do all the can for the community

One of the VERY BEST thrift stores around! They display the merchandise in an orderly fashion, set up just like a store, and keep the items rotating and fresh! I always find a treasure whenever I stop by!

I bought a Maytag washer from Hill crest for $62.00. They are very reasonable on everything. Very clean and organized environment.

Two levels of goods, top floor is mainly close with little boutiques around the clothing section, the art store, the shoe store, book shop, home goods, toys, the lower floor is more furniture, sports goods, tools, and electronics. Some items are priced a little high but in general youll find some good deals on most items.

Really great thrift store, with a huge selection of items from clothing to household goods. Some clothing still has original tags from the store attached. The staff is helpful and very nice.

Like all thrift stores when you go in without something in mind you find the good stuff. For us it was onesies for our son...50¢ each. Cant beat that price for something hell wear for 2 months! Its clean, has carts and is well the racks and the store is well labeled. I really like this place.
