If you’re looking for an incredible mechanic shop to trust with your car, this is it. Honest, hard working and knowledgeable team they have here. Always something to look at while you wait for your car! I have been coming to KCAW for years, and the customer service has been outstanding every single time. The owner is usually there as well, every day. There’s a reason they are always so busy! Thank you Brett and Pat for all that you have done!

Been to AutoWorx in the past with full satisfaction. Air conditioner started putting out warm air intermittently so bought the freon in the can for DIY. This worked for about 4 days. Brought my 2012 Ford Fusion in for evaluation. They hooked it up to their machine which extracted the freon along with the air bubbles, etc. and kept it on vacuum for 30 minutes to detect any leaks then refreshed the freon. Been two weeks now and the air has never been so cold. Great in this very hot KC environment. Brett is very customer focused and explains in non-mechanic terms the process of the repairs. Highly recommend.

After experiencing some emergency car troubles, I was happy to find a place just down the road with such good reviews and I’m happy to say they lived up to the hype! They got me in right away, had great customer service, and returned my car to me all fixed up in less than 48 hours. The mechanic took the time to make sure my car was fully safe to drive again and explained the issues in a way I could understand. Car shops can be intimidating but they made me feel comfortable throughout the experience. They’ve earned a customer for life!

Paid Pat to install a 10k air bag system on my f250 awhile back. Sat down with him in is office and picked out the system I wanted. He ended up fabricating the brackets out of 1/8 inch plate steel and welding them to the frame of my truck. The first time I towed with it the brackets folded around to what I found out to be low rider airbags. When I confronted Pat about the problem he told me I should tow such heavy things with my f250. Nobody in town would touch it since he welded the brackets straight to the frame unlike the 1/4 inch plate steel brackets I was supposed to get the the kit that are bolt on. Needless to say he did not only over charge me for the system I never received. I spent thousands of dollars being over charged at his shop and thought we became friends until he burned me for 3k on a system that should have cost half of that. Also the air tank he installed on the truck rusted from the inside out and was falling off the truck in under a year.

I dont live in Kansas City anymore, but was in need of someone trustworthy and honest to take a look at my car, which had been through several stressful issues and repairs over the past few weeks and seemed to STILL be leaking oil. I dont know anything about cars and always feel in over my head at auto shops. The only other place I knew in KC was unavailable, so I turned to reviews and decided to give KC Autoworx a shot. Their service was great. They said I could bring my car in right away with no appointment, and they looked over everything and were able to quickly tell me what was causing the apparent leak. They confirmed for me that the repairs Id previously paid for were necessary and fairly priced, and they performed a clean up job that my last auto shop had forgone. On top of that, they didnt even charge me. I was truly grateful for the quick, professional, and comprehensive help I got from KC Autoworx and will be back!

We took our front steering knuckles here to have new bearings pressed in. They assured us they had the appropriate tool to do this, and quoted a price of $100, at 2 flag hours. My husband signed the paperwork and left. when he returned, he was told the charge was double the agreed price. The paperwork signed clearly indicates that they will not change the price without contacting you. despite this, we went ahead and paid the price and got our parts back. They practically destroyed the steering knuckles. They left the bolts in when they worked on the part and stripped them. They then attempted to replace one of the bolts they LOST with a grade 5 bolt. We were not informed. the required grade for this part is a grade 8. This could have caused the suspension to snap and ruin our car. We took the ruined parts back. The manager of the shop was extremely rude and begrudgingly offered my husband a refund and said they would repair the part. The part was finished on a Friday. The shop did not contact us and we only found out when we contacted them days later. When my husband returned to collect the repaired part, Brett was INCREDIBLY rude and not only did not offer the refund, but continued to try to relieve himself and himself rest of the shop of responsibility and practically ejected him from the shop. DO NOT USE THIS SHOP. THEY LIE ABOUT TOOLS THEY HAVE AND DO NOT STAND BY THEIR WORK. We will be contacting appropriate channels to resolve this issue as the shop has made it clear they do not intend to correct their mistakes.

I recently made the decision to begin reviewing good services I receive since it seems as though we tend to only comment on a service when we wish to vent.Today I ran into a bit of car trouble on an older car that I own. Within half an hour, KC Auto Worx had a tow truck come pick me up and take me over to their shop. First of all, everyone there is really friendly and nice. Being young and female, auto guys tend to look at me with $$$ in their eyes. I know nothing about cars, and mine has had its fair share of problems. My only knowledge is whatever I can gather in a quick Google search. Fortunately for me, they fixed only what was needed with my car, didnt try to add a bunch of other repairs (and they could have totally tried to pull this with my car), and gave me a great price. My car was fixed within a few hours, and they informed me of what was going on during the repair. Another review said that they dont work on old cars. This may be true, but my car is like 13 years old and they fixed me up just fine. Overall, I am really happy that I got the recommendation to go to them, and I would definitely go again. Its nice to have a repair shop close to home that is affordable and wont try to take advantage of my probably-very-apparent ignorance regarding cars.

Cant say enough good things. Their shop is clean, convenient Crossroads location (right of I35 too). Never had an issue just dropping it off and at the least same day diagnostics, almost every time fixed/serviced same day. Ive had 1 Jeep and 2 Fords serviced w/ them. The kicker just happened my last trip - there was an honest mistake and work was done that wasnt authorized. The shop waived the labor fees, would not even let me tack on an hour out of three! I feel like its harder and harder to find businesses that will own up like that completely and just take care of things. They have also been lower cost to repair than other quotes I have received elsewhere on two occasions. Keep up the good work!

I recently took my 2004 Jetta GLI to KC AutoWorx for a four-wheel alignment and to replace some suspension parts, I was quite surprised when I stopped in to get an update from Mario the tech working on my GLI. Mario told me that he had not installed any new parts on my car as what was on there was still in perfect working order and in his words, “You really don’t need them, so I did not want to charge you for work that was unnecessary”.Now bear in mind I had planned to pay to have the parts installed regardless of the condition and I was genuinely surprised by Mario honestly and desire to help save me money which as you can see later on would come in handy.I also told them my AC was on the fritz and asked if they could check it out, KC AutoWorx came back and told me the clutch on the compressor was shot and it needed to be replaced. All I could think was perfect, I was supposed to take the car this weekend on short vacation to a Euro Rally in Eureka Springs. I stood there frustrated thinking my weekend plans were shot. As there is no way I could afford to or have the time to replace the AC compressor myself. Also there is no way my fiancee will ride all the way to Arkansas with out AC. ☹But much to my surprise KC AutoWorx came back with not only a fantastic price to fix my AC but they also managed to have it done the same day which allowed me to take both my girls to the Euro Rally in cool comfort. Once again thanks for all the hard work and the affordable prices...this is a great shop if you live and work around downtown. 😊😊Also this is the 3rd car I have taken to them for an alignment..they do amazing work for an affordable price.

Review №72

These guys are nice. Ive used them a handful of times. The earlier times I used them I had a positive experience. But I have to dock them based on my most recent experience.Heres what happened: I go in to have repairs done necessary to satisfy an inspection. They recommend and I authorize replacement of the serpentine belt (I also have them replace the battery). They also list 4 additional items required for them to sign off on the inspection: (1) upper ball joint; (2) lower ball joint; (3) labor for the ball joints; and (4) front end alignment. The invoice showed those 4 repairs came to $320.91. I paid for the work on the belt and battery but told them I would hold off on the additional 4 items for the time being.Almost exactly 1 month later, I return--with their invoice print out in hand--and request that the 4 additional repairs be done (I also had them replace the windshield wipers). When it was time to settle up, suddenly a 5th item appeared on the bill that hadnt been disclosed before: front right wheel bearing for $107.98. Plus, the labor costs were wildly misleading--the initial invoice listed only $90.00 for labor without multiplying the quantity. (the quantity - 2.5 - was not listed in an obvious way on the initial invoice. Instead, it was hidden away in parentheses in the Activity description). So rather than $90.00, the final costs for labor alone came to $225.00.The bottom line--the initial invoice listed the 4 items as costing $320.91. The second invoice (shown to me after the work was done) listed the now 5 items plus the misleading 2.5 quantity multiplier for labor as costing $563.89. Thats a difference of $242.98.I complained. And the guy helping me (who was not the guy who owns the shop but was the other guy), agreed to knock off $45. That helped a little, but I still came away feeling misled and cheated. My advice: review the estimate invoice very thoroughly and get a firm commitment on the final costs before authorizing anything.

Can I please plug these guys a little bit? I cannot say enough good things about KC Autoworx down on Southwest Trafficway, in the Crossroads area. Really neat (and I mean that both ways - it’s cool AND amazingly clean for an automotive shop) place. Honest work. Reasonable price. Brett Ingram, the service manager, is knowledgeable and AWESOME.I had a small cascade of items that after one thing was fixed, another seemed to pop up; my dealership wanted thousands to diagnose, trouble-shoot, replace parts, and fix. Then there was a 100,000 mile check due, for another several hundred more. I walked out of KC AutoWorx for MAYBE a third of what my dealership wanted, all because these guys are consistent and know their stuff instead of “trying” something to see if it works and just replacing things until they get it right. When one of my fixes threw a check engine light shortly after completion, AutoWorx went in and found that a clamp was loose and a hose had popped off; the dealership would have wanted diagnostic fees and to needlessly replace all kinds of sensors. Finally, the cost of replacing my battery here was a much better deal than at the dealership.I highly recommend these guys! It’s a drive for me, but worth it. Their waiting area is cozy. They have drinks. If you live or work in the midtown area, they will shuttle you. They do all kinds of other things, too, like tinting and custom work. Please check them out and say “hi” to Pax, the black and white pup!

Pat and Bret were amazing when our family of 4 was stranded in KC while running the 2016 Hot Rod Power Tour! They tried working their connections to get a rear axel bearing in on Friday to fix us up all in one day. When this didnt work out, Pat took time away from his family and opened the shop up just for us on Saturday. He got us fixed up, loaded up with swag, and on the road! To top it off, the great work and service was at a fair price. It was an opportunity to price gouge that Pat didnt take. An example of a great shop and wonderful people. I hope to see Pat and his family on the 2017 Hot Rod Power Tour since it usually starts where it finishes the year prior. Hot rodders are special people!
