Ordered a rifle several months before my hunt. I was assured I had AT LEAST two months buffer from when my rifle arrives to my hunt. After several months and promises it was down to the week of my hunt, still no rifle. I ended up having to order through another manufacture and have them over night the gun to me. Should of listened to all the negative reviews about this company.

Montana Rifle was bought out in 2018 and is under new ownership. Ron Petty is a legend in the gun industry and is running the business now. Montana rifles were always excellent, now their customer service is also outstanding. Their rifles are semi-custom and mine is shooting 1/2 inch groups on factory ammo right out of the box. Great value for what youre getting. I highly recommend this rifle.

I had a barrel installed by these guys that had a visual scar on the chamber. I tried to see if it would group anyway. No such luck. It shot terrible. After months of taking it back several times (6 hour round trip) and then mailing it back several times they must have known I would eventually give up, which I did. I ended up selling it for nothing. They flat just wouldnt do anything about it.

Buy a Montana rifle at your own risk. Out of the box mine had two round circular pits adjacent to the crown, one on the bore surface and one on the muzzle and adjacent to the crown. I decided to shoot it to assess the accuracy before complaining and when I tried to attach Leupold scope mount bases to the receiver one of the four screws would not tighten.

I ordered an Xtreme Ascent Rifle from MRC as soon as they were announced in Jan 2019. I was told at that time it would be about an 8-10 month lead time. Over the summer I noticed that they removed the rifle from their website. I had to call them about a problem I was having with a different rifle, and while I had them on the phone I asked about it. The rep didnt get into specifics but told me they had stopped offering the rifle, but they were honoring all existing orders. A few months later I received a call from my dealer that my rifle had come in so I went and picked it up. Something didnt seem right about it, so I put it on a scale and it weight approximately 6 lbs 13 oz. This gun was advertised as a mountain rifle with a weight of 5 lbs 10 oz. (I still have the brochure) and I had to pay a premium ($300) over an X3 for that weight savings. The X3 is advertised as about a pound more than the XAR and my X3 weighs about 1-2 oz less. After weighing the gun, I called MRC (the same day I picked it up) and left a voicemail. Over the next few days I called them 4 or 5 more times and left one more voicemail without receiving a call back. Finally on one of my calls someone actually answered. I was told by the rep I spoke with that they changed the specs due to performance issues and that he would call me back with a solution later that day. After a few days with no call back and MRC not answering the phone I got in touch with my dealer. The dealer sent an email to their rep and asked him to call me. After a few more days I received a call from the rep. He confirmed what the first rep had told me about problems with he design and also told me that they basically built them to the X3 specs and that they ended up firing someone who failed to call the customers with orders to see if they still wanted the gun. This rep agreed to refund my money and said he was going to work with the dealer to figure out the logistics and get back in touch with me. After a few days of not hearing anything. I contacted the dealer, who reached out to MRC bit wasnt getting anywhere. This happened about 6 or so more times over the next 2 months before he was finally able to get somewhere. Now MRC is refusing to do a refund and wants to give me a credit towards something else, even though they dont make anything else that even resembles what I ordered. At this point i will never do business with them again. My issue is far from an isolated incident. If you spend any time at all on hunting and shooting forums you will find most reviews of their products are extremely poor, and it usually boils down to customer service. As far as I care if they went out of business tomorrow, hunters and shooters would be better off and it would just serve as a great example to other manufacturers of how not to conduct business.

I won a Montana rifle at an elk foundation banquet. Weve been going back and forth since July 9th for a larger magazine box. Montana is going off of SAAMI specs. SAAMI is outdated. The bullet length I am needing is 3.60 and the ID of the box that the rifle came with was 3.363. This two month long fiasco I still have no box. Wait, I take that back.. They sent another box after I told them the length I needed. They sent the same exact box that is originally in my rifle.. So I called. I sent dimensions yet AGAIN. Received an email 8/20 at 11 am. Sent an email back 8/20 at 4pm. No correspondence back. As much as I do like Montana Rifles, this will be the LAST Montana that I own, because the customer service is HORRIBLE! Beware!

Great Rifle! Always been a M70 fan and this is the next best thing. Waiting for the rifle took some time and then all of a sudden it just showed up without any notice. If your not in a rush and willing to wait than go with this rifle. Fist time I shot the rifle was at 100 yards with Nosler trophy grade ammunition. Fired the rifle off a lead sled to remove human error. What happened amazed me, 3 shots all touching at 100 yards. Never had that happen before even though Ive come close with some M70s. Would highly recommend this rifle as long as you can wait

33 weeks in and still no rifle. Was promised 10 to 14 weeks delivery I have not even seen the rifle and would not recommend this company based on their poor communication alone. If/ when the rifle shows up and it is amazing I will give 2 stars.

I think everyone should know how this company treats their employees. They are horrible. They first do not follow through with what they promise them in their interview with raises. Then they fail to do their job and not order product laying off their employees. Then when their employees call every week asking when they can go back to work they get the run around. Get told by several people that the questions asked is above their pay raise. Then they call someone else and they dont know or wont answer the phone or call back. Then when they still cant do their job and get material in they decide to pull them off of job attachment unemployment and do not tell their employee they no longer have a job. Employee has to find out from unemployment then when calls HR they have no idea and take a few weeks to get employee the answer. Then will not put anything in writing as to why the employee is no longer with the company. Have asked several times for something in writing and nothing. By the way this all happened to my son. Worse company ever.

Bought an X3 last quarter of 2018. Would group about two inches. Tried to contact the MRC warranty department via on line like they suggested. No one responded to my emails or warranty claim. I had the rifle checked by a local experienced gunsmith and he determined the pillars in the stock were sitting crooked. He repaired the rifle and I paid him. MRC finally contacted me after I received my rifle back. I advised them I had a local guy attempt to improve the accuracy and if the rifle would still not shoot, I would send it in. The rifle still grouped about two inches so off to MRC it went in February. I called at least ten times checking on the status of my rifle and Tom in the warranty department stated it was being repaired and would be test fired over the weekend. He told me this several different times. Finally I spoke with another employee and she advised that the rifle would not be covered under warranty because of the outside work. I explained to her my issue with the warranty department not contacting me. After some back and forth, MRC agreed to fix the rifle. Except they probably didn’t. They said it just needed the bottom metal tightened up. I still haven’t received the rifle back but I did receive some negative feedback from MRC after I posted a bad review on their Facebook page. Terrible company. Do not buy from them. Spend the extra money and get a Cooper or custom built by a quality company.

I received an X2 at the end of 2015 (after a twice as long as promised wait), but didnt shoot it until 2016. Once I began shooting the rifle in 2016, accuracy was an issue. At first I tried making excuses, that it was my problem, not the rifle, but I never had issues with accuracy using any others. Set on making this rifle a shooter, I then set out and tried various hand loads, but was still met with no success. After not using the rifle for the 2016 hunting season, I decided to dismantle it. At this point I had 200+ rounds through the gun, and I immediately noticed significant wear on the stock from where the barrel was supposed to be free-floated, but clearly wasnt. Then I looked at the glass bedding, it was so minimal I dont think it was honest to call it a glass-bedded rifle. At this point I wanted a full analysis from a real gunsmith. He reported that the bedding job was a poor attempt, in that it was extremely minimal and consistently uneven. Furthermore, the holes for the action-stays were crooked and the crowning looked to be done with dull tools. I decided to make the gun right which cost hundreds of dollars to do. I emailed MRC through their website, telling them of the extensive process I went through to get this gun to shoot, and I heard nothing back.MRC is in the business of taking your money, not creating or supporting a quality product. The reviews of this company, from their products to their customer service are consistently horrible, they are a disgrace to the Montana name. I am confused by how they still sell enough guns to feed their families. My experience is one of many, to find more visit Rokslide or Longrangehunting.Im posting this review now because MT rifle season is coming up, and despite making this gun right, I get angry when I pick it up.
