Buyers beware. They tried to hide the frame damage by undercoating it. Customer service basically passed it off as my problem and denied any warranty. Ending up saving my energy and getting rid of it, but I wouldn’t trust this place with any vehicle. Take my situation of wasting money and visit a better dealership.

Salesperson was completely useless. I mostly knew what I wanted when I came in and was given no help whatsoever. Didn’t end up buying because I couldn’t get any information about the vehicle from the sales rep. Honestly if you had a different sales person who had some product knowledge and put in enough effort to help customers get the deal their looking for it probably wouldn’t be a bad place, but as it is, it’s useless.
We love our new Mazda CX-9 and are so happy with the entire team at Bill Gatton Mazda who took care of us, especially the salesman Worth Peak. Highly recommended. I had a salesman by the name of Worth Peak, and he was genuine and honest the entire time. He didn’t beat around the bush and he told me what was fact. I got a great deal on a 2018 Hyundai Elantra, and it was honestly a steal. We all know that the dealership can be a sneaky industry, but of all the dealerships I’d put my trust in this one. They empathize with the customer, and aim to make sure you are content before you leave with a great deal on a new car.
The process of buying a new car is never fun. But we walked away with not so much what we wanted but still all in all a very nice vehicle. Zac was very helpful and eventually we found a nice vehicle. Will be going back.

We had looked at several used vehicles on this lot so we decided to test drive a 2012 chevy traverse & even with my low credit they were able to find us a great deal & take my trade in. We bought our second Miata on Saturday from Bill Gatton of Johnson City Mazda dealership. We worked with Worth Peak our sales representative and Chris Hill our financial manager and had the best experience ever. Both men were extremely helpful, knowledgeable, kind, attentive, with great senses of humor, delightful, quick in the financing department, really listened to us, and were most accommodating. We kept them both nearly 2 hours after closing!! I cant say enough good things about them and the way they made us feel very much at home. Skippy went above and behind by delivering a used 4runner. However. What I was told over the phone and what I received were 2 different things. I asked if the under carriage was rusted and was told no. Its in the shop now because the check engine light came on supposedly on the way to Knoxville. You just need a tune up. Nope a $4000 + job with the catalytic converter replacement and because all rusted out, the job has over 8 hours due to broken bolts = more labor. After market radio was turned up so loud when it was delivered, that I couldnt hear the loud crackling because it wasnt hooked up correctly nor was the rear view camera, which Skippy promoted over the phone. Not hooked up. Now I have to pay an electrical / audio company to fix that. It is my fault for not seeing the vehicle before I committed to it. And I actually believed what the sales person told me which was my second mistake. I was lied to, and that is on them.
I was very pleased with the sales team and everyone when I purchased my car here. Until 4 days later it started giving me a check engine light and other errors. I called to see what they would do for me and the service department was condescending and rude. When I spoke with the sales manager they said id get an appointment made and get me taken care of. Only to find out it was going to cost me over $100 for diagnostic and then parts and labor(easily another couple hundred dollars).It is the Mass Air Flow sensor thats either dirty or gone bad, the part is $100 and is two screws to replace, even less expensive if it just needs to be cleaned.I purchased a warrantee and again have only been driving this vehicle for 4 days!It seems to me that Bill Gatton cleared the codes on this car and then sold it to me, up-sold me on a warrantee then said CYA instead if taking care of their customer.Buyer beware, I would never bring my car here, or purchase another vehicle from them again.I went to Firestone in kingsport, they charged me $10 to diagnose and clean my MAF and get me back on the road. Bill Gatton is an absolute scam do not go here.

Bought a used one here. If you think you’re being cautious buying from a dealership rather than a third party, think again.Noticed low coolant and transmission fluid, called the salesmen and asked if they’d give me a discount on a CVT transmission fluid change ( 300-400$ and only a dealership will do it BC it requires a special tool) since I just bought the car a few days ago and everything. Was told “I’ll have to talk to my manager” and I never got a call back.In fact, most of the used cars we test drove had obvious mechanical issues - out of alignment, needed brakes, etc. Meaning they don’t have their maintenance department inspect them before sale. Dunno if this is an industry wide thing now or not, but sketchy behavior nonetheless. Most of the used inventory sold “as is” unless otherwise specified. So, you’re better off just buying from an individual.You would expect they’d give you something for pretty much paying top dollar, but no. Dont get grifted.

I told my salesperson really clear I don’t want more than 2 banks to run my credit ... however without my permission they did in a lot of places .. a lot ... now I am trying to complaint directly with their headquarters about it cause they don’t reply my mails..... —— FURTHERMORE BETWEEN OTHER MAKES AND COMPANIES ... this people give a lot of interest ...I will take this to further steps.
My son teenage son bought a 2016 mustang from this dealership. (He knows nothing about cars.) He purchased this car at night. The next day we go out to look at his car and they sold him a car for 14k with bald tires. Then we get looking the car over better and the back up camera doesnt work. So he calls down there to see what they can do as far as fixing the issues. We are told he could buy tires from them if he would like. And the used car mgr is out of town and they cant tell us anything about the camera. So we wait a few days and go down there to be told again the mgr is still out of town. But pretty much bought it AS IS so they doubt it would be approved to be fixed. My son should not have to just buy this car then turn around and put a grand in it to have tires for the winter and camera fixed...Poor customer service.
Mr. King in the mechanic department was absolutely fabulous to work with. He was straight forward, honest and didnt try to pull the wool over our eyes when we took in our older Mazda for repair. He saved us a ton of money and heartache. Ill definitely be a regular Mazda customer at Bill Gatton as long as hes there.
Dont bother with their service department. Definitely dont bother with an appointment. You are, literally, better off driving to NC and getting your work done there. Apparently they take 4 hours to complete an oil change and tire rotation and expect the customers to believe that it was because employees called out sick. Looks like they suck at finding good technicians, too.

I bought a 2015 charger a few months back and everything about the experience was great. Jeremy was the sales guy and he was very honest with us. Had an issue with the radio after the sale and they even helped out after the sale. We drove 2 hours to get there and it was worth it. I highly recommend them their internet deals are very good.Keep doing what youre doing.

I went to have a recall repaired, and was provided with EXCELLENT service! Chris notified me, and I had actually two recalls on my vehicle, which were both fixed, and a full service report was also given to me. All of this was done in a very timely manner, so my kids and I didnt have too wait long at all. Overall, great experience and will definitely be back :)

I usually don’t like to write negative reviews, but this was such a negative experience, I feel I must share. First, I waited in the hot, humid sun for a sales person a lot longer than one should especially when I saw two were looking at me. Then he finally came down and he acted like it was such a bother. Second, I knew more about the vehicle than he did.Third, When I test drove the vehicle, he said he had to go with me and he didn’t even say it or explain it in a nice way either. Actually his tone was condescending. He said it was standard for insurance purposes. It may be their “standards” but not at other auto dealerships I have recently visited.The sales person just had a very negative attitude from the beginning and it didn’t improve.Not happy with the treatment AT ALL I WILL NEVER GO BACK AND I WILL TELL ALL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY. MAYBE, I’m just use to the 5 star treatment I always receive at JC Ford Lincoln. Worst experience EVER!!! Totally insulted and it takes a lot to insult me.
I was very impressed when I took my car in for a warranty repair. The service department had me take a ride with a technician so that they knew exactly what was going on. They ended up fixing the suspension issue in less than an hour, then had us drive around to verify I was satisfied with the repair. This was not a simple alignment issue, but rather a shifting component in the suspension causing a harmess yet annoying noise. I have had the displeasure of dealing with noises in cars before, so I was genuinely impressed with the speed and accuracy of the correction. Often, in my experience with other service departments, if you come in with a minor inconvenient complaint, thats how you are treated, like a minor complaining customer. Not here, I was treated like a valuable customer and I was provided a service with a sense of urgency and genuine concern with my satisfaction of it.
I read tons of reviews before stopping by and now I can agree, fantastic work at Bill Gatton. I worked with Jeremy James. He was curteous, professional and maintained excellent communication with me. He went out of his way to ensure I was happy and the finance manager got me into the payments I needed WITH a warranty! I told them ONE credit pull and they did. Im very pleased and I know I can count on them. FINALLY a dealership in JC that is trustworthy and focuses on the customer and not their pockets. Service Department: Not a good experience.Went to get my car serviced and they asked me if I had a 30,000 mile service. They said that my transmission fluid needed to be flushed. I wasnt sure, so I called the dealership that I bought the car from and had gotten all my service at in the past and they said DO NOT flush your transmission fluid. Its sealed and SkyActiv Mazdas have lifetime transmission fluid that only needs to be changed when a major transmission component or the entire transmission needs replacement. I checked the manual in my car, and sure enough, transmission flush was NOT on there. Then they asked me if I wanted to replace the cabin filter for $80 or something. I said no because I had one at home that cost me $8 and took about 2 minutes to put in. Finally they told me I needed to replace my brake pads this visit or the next. I said Id do it next time. Its been over a year and probably 15,000 miles and I just took my car to another shop and they said my brake pads are fine and do not need replaced. WHAT?! Are you kidding me?! Super bummed with my experience, but maybe it was just a bunch of unfortunate circumstances happening at once. Only writing this review in the hopes that they read this, and can fix some of those problems in the future.

I recently received an oil change from the service department and was disappointed with the service I received. First off I requested a shuttle to pick me up at work and was told that they would take care of it. Upon leaving work I called to confirm my pick up and was unable to get in touch with the service department for 20 minutes. I ended up walking 5 miles to the dealership in hopes that I made it before closing. Second, my bill is always a different amount and often overcharged most of the time. My bill has never been right the 5 times I have been there. I was also told that my rewards amount was applied to my bill when in truth it wasnt because the balance remained the same. I purchased my Mazda 3 from this dealership back in 2011 and plan on upgrading to the newer model in the near future but will reconsider if the service department does not get it together. Charges need to be in a simple format so I know exactly what I got and exactly what I paid for.

Despite the fact I had two keys for my Mazda 3 I was trading in when I bought my Mazda CX-5 In July they only gave me one key. They gave zero indication I would not be receiving 2 keys during the buying process which I thought was standard. After I completed all my paperwork and they handed over a key I asked about the spare and they said it didn’t come with one. When someone is making a purchase over 20 grand a spare key should come with it. I used them for two car purchases and all my servicing until this incident.

I purchased a 2017 Mazda CX-3 Grand Touring AWD today in dynamic blue mica. Joshua Buchanan was my salesman and I could not have asked for a better experience. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and there was no pressure. He explained the entire process and even calmed me down because he knew I was nervous buying a new car.
