I needed some unexpected repairs before a long trip and after their double-check, I feel safe and ready to go! A main dealership in town was going to charge me over $100 just for a diagnostic and couldn’t get me in for over 2 weeks, but Crom came to the rescue! They didn’t tack on any unnecessary charges and even though they were short staffed at the time, the mechanic gave me an appointment and returned my fixed vehicle within a couple days. I am pleased with their professional and friendly service, clear communication through the whole process, and fair pricing. Plus there is a fun fish tank in the waiting room! It was worth the trip out there.

I brought my Toyota Sienna to Crom because I thought I had a transmission problem. The man in charge actually took me for a test drive in order to diagnose the sound. He was very thorough and explained that it wasnt the transmission, but bad wheel bearings. I have never had a shop let me ride along for the vehicle assessment. This is definitely a business that I will be using for many years to come. Other auto repair businesses could learn a thing or two from the openness and honesty of Crom Transmission and Auto.

The first straightforward, honest, and reliable mechanic shop Ive come across in the Hubert, Jacksonville, and Richlands area. They take the time to explain in great detail what it going on with your vehicle and what needs to be done to fix it. Their price and time estimates are accurate and reasonable. If I believe the stealership is trying to rip me off, I get Croms second opinion. Bottom line there is no one else Id trust to conduct repairs on my vehicles, other than myself.

My 2005 Mariner transmission just finally failed. Took it to Croms and they told me exactly what was wrong, why it went wrong, what needs to be done to correct the issue and a price with a warranty. I had other issues I knew about but couldnt find, they did. This is a I believe 3 generation owned business and it shows. Phenomenal mechanics.My car literally was skating gears at 235k miles to them and it was like a brand new car when I left.Honestly, they are worth every penny. EXTREMELY fast: Rebuilt in a week, superb service. No complaints and highly recommend.

Bob is a true artist and a dying breed. Most people shouldn’t touch the internals of an automatic transmission, with bob that’s not the case. In my case I had a transmission that was recently rebuilt by a couple of kids that didn’t know what they were doing and wasn’t working properly. He quickly started on the job, and it wasn’t an easy one. He caught things that no one else would and stood by his work. Also he explained everything he did and didn’t push things I wouldn’t need.

Took my truck in for an issue. Mr. Crom did a test drive an made a recommendation that I didnt need major work and a simple fluid change should solve the issue. Very professional.

Absolutely amazing. I had taken my Pontiac G6 in for hard shifting that the dealership I had originally purchased the car from had failed to fix. Many, many issues were discovered on my car in a very short amount of time, including issues not related to the transmission such as a misfiring piston, and I was able to get a full refund on my vehicle by the dealership. The pricing is very fair and the staff are very honest about the issues found with your vehicle. This place saved me a lot of time and money and I would highly recommend that you have any and all transmission and/or car repairs performed here.

We had our truck towed here to get a second opinion when another shop said “there’s definitely something wrong but we won’t know what until we get in there” and we were looking at spending about $4000. SO GLAD WE BROUGHT IT HERE. They checked it out thoroughly and quickly and determined it wasn’t even our transmission. While they didn’t work on our truck because the problem was electrical, not mechanical, they ultimately saved us thousands of dollars and unnecessarily opening up the transmission. If we ever do have transmission problems this is where we will bring it for sure!

Bob is were this shop shines, coolest old man you will ever meet, he will teach you more than you know by just listen, he will work with you no matter what and he will tell you if he messed up and he needs another day or two to fix it. I have been on both sides of the counter, and I know what its like to have a heavy work load with customers walking in. That being said, as soon as I arrived Bob came out shortly after and actually rode in my vehicle with me to listen to the noise I was hearing. That was a Saturday afternoon, and my vehicle was ready Tuesday morning. The customer service is well above average here just as all the other comments attest to. The shop was well kept, and professional looking. The job was done right the first time, and I would recommend them to others.

I got a diagnostic done at another shop in Jacksonville on my ‘92 corvette and was advised there was a problem inside my transmission which, along with some other maintenance work, would run me over $2000.00. Im sure they do a good job at least theyve been around for a long time and were busy. I left my truck there for a few days and was told to get an electronic piece replaced elsewhere and then bring it back to be totally rebuilt for a lot of money. Took it to aamco, they figured out the problem and it only cost $125 and had worked fine now for 4 months including pulling trailers.

We bought a car from this gentleman a little over 2 months ago for our daughter. She has yet to get her DL just has her temps. Car has been driven less than 10 times farthest away Keanasville for her Driver exam 2x. Car sits in the driveway. He fast talked his way oh he built it a new transmission, he put new brakes on, runs great, etc. Same story over and over til week picked up the car. We bought brand new tires which he put on. Kept making comments about the brakes how great they were. We drove it 3 times last week. When u press the break the car pulled to the left. I took it to out mechanic who i trust and have worked with for over 5 years. Low & behold the car has no breaks at all but 1 tire. The head gaskets are on their way out any minute. Plus break line leak, and 1 other thing major i forget the name had to be fixed. He said he would not put any of his kids in this car. I called Mr. Bob at Crom, talked to a man vented my frustrations. He tried to blame us and tell us there was no possible way they knew of any. Mr. Bob would call back...guess what he didnt. My husband called he wont pick up the phone. We always go to dealers. We did this because it was her 1st car and insurances is so expensive on cars with loans. She is trying to finish school. This man is a liar, cheat, thief, shister, and an unremarkable person. Do not take ur cars here for anything or buy anything from them. U will be sorry. Im turning them into every person i can think of from the BBB down.

Very friendly and professional, quick turn around on diagnosis and repair. Had one shop tell me something is wrong with my engine thats why is vibrating, Crom diagnosis was i need new U-Joints on my drive shaft. U-Joints were replaced and vibration stopped. Only $4K difference. This is my new place to go for my automotive repair needs.

Service of my 1997 Mercedes-Benz SL500 Was outstanding! I was updated daily on the progress and I drove home today feeling completely comfortable that the service was exceptional at the originally quoted price.

Just recently rebuilt a 68rfe transmission that they done some work on for me in 2017. Supposedly replaced the low/reverse sprag with a “improved, heavier duty all billet” one. It was plastic just like the junk factory one that broke. Ran the part number off of it and it’s a part I could have bought myself for $140. $2,700 job in total for a $140 part. The only reason I gave a star is because it got my truck back on the road and had I not ever rebuilt the transmission again I would have never seen that I had been ripped off. If I could put a picture of the part up here I would because I know they’ll come back with some BS about it not being the part they installed. I had a stage 4 BD Diesel kit put into it with new valve body plates with custom drilled slots, new check valves, all new raybestos clutches, a TRUE billet sprag, new filters, all new snap rings and seals along with 6 gallons of brand new fluid for cheaper than this place charged me to replace a plastic part. Before anything gets twisted in a response, I WATCHED this man rebuild the transmission, I seen every clearance between clutches making sure they were to spec and watched him drill the new slots in the valve body plates(my guy, not croms). All that costed me $1,000(I bought the parts kit, it was $1,500) so in total I basically got a brand new transmission for $2,500 AFTER paying someone else $2,700 to replace a piece of plastic.

Fantastic shop! Bobs knowlage is unrivaled in terms of trans issues. If you need a good reliable shop please look no further than the croms! I thought I needed syncros turns out it was only a clutch. After having the work dont I had a small leak in my rear transfer case and Bob took it personally and fixed it for free had me in and out in 15 mins. They are a highly skilled shop which means they will be busy but it is well worth the wait!

I would give you zero stars if I could. Had my van towed there Wednesday, was told it would be looked at that day. Called back at 130pm and was told they would look at it and call me back. They did not. Thursday I called around 130pm and not only had they not looked at but a man named Bob got on the phone with and proceeded to let me know he was very busy and that if I was in such a hurry it would cost $2495.00 to have my transmission rebuilt. He over talked me and was condescending to boot. I decided to take my business elsewhere but had to pay for the tow. Was then informed by Chad that they cant take credit cards over the phone because there is no way to verify who I am. I drove from Richlands all the to their shop and the lady behind the counter not only took my credit card but gave me the keys WITHOUT ASKING FOR MY ID. These people are without a doubt some of the most rude individuals I have ever dealt with and I wouldnt let them change my oil let alone work on my transmission.

Croms Automotive has Honest Mechanics. Like Jumbo Shrimp, these two words are not usually found in the same sentence. With me, it started years ago. My small, high milage, manual transmission based Nissan truck was jumping out of second gear. I came in with a check for $400, and said call me if you exceed this... Turns out the transmission was fine, the shifter had a worn out a nylon shim. They made one out of scrap and charged me $25 total! This has been repeated enough to see it wasnt a fluke. Clearly, all repairs arent this cheap. But with Croms, you can be confident the required repairs are legitimate.
