Hey, if youre a resident of North Irving and you love comics and board games. This is THE place to go! Its a little small, and sometimes cramped, but it provides a one on one kind of feel. Like, these people are fans of comics like yourself.The staff is friendly and corteous, and from what I know they host these family friendly board/card game nights. Complimentary soda if youre participating. Which is cool.Everyone is masked up and does their best to social distance.Honestly this place is so homey, it feels like being at a friends place. Like, you know, how you have that ONE friend that always has all the cool stuff? Yeah. Thats how it feels when you walk in here.Ooh! And theres a middle eastern snack shop right next door. So you can buy your comics/niche board games and then head home with some delicious snacks too!Check it out if youre in the area. Its a treasure.

What they lack in space, they more than make up for in friendliness and products. Ive historically waited until games go on sale on an online retailer but theres something to be said for seeing a game in person or playing a demo set. Took my 6yo son here recently and he handled himself very respectfully so they let him pick a couple minis for free. Theres a time for buying things at low cost online. And theres a time for building community. I appreciate the way these guys are doing business and hope my kids enjoy coming here often!

Exactly what you want from a game shop: heaps and heaps of games, comics, and paraphernalia, all shoved together to make room for the real heart of the place (the gaming tables); a community of players ready and eager to fold anyone into their games; and a hospitable owner who wants you to share stories, have as much fun as possible, and make friends. Bought six Magic decks from them today, wanting to buy locally, but didnt want to go into the store. They were very cool about it, brought everything out to my car, grabbed my credit card from me and brought it back, so everything was curbside. He wore a mask and even threw in a few bonus items, which was unexpected and super cool. Highly recommend.

I didnt catch the owners name (owners name is Sean) he was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. I had my 3 yo with me and she could be a handful, but we love going to a store like this and feeling welcome, and that we did. I was also very impressed with this stores selection and variety.Its also nice that they offer a place for gamers and enthusiasts of all levels a place to play together.Thank you for the superb service and helping me and my littke girl find a fun lighthearted board game together.Just a follow up, I love this store :)Great place :)

Good selection of board games and a friendly owner.

My wife and I were looking for a LCS, and we had looked at lots of places. We were disheartened when lots of places were all about the quick buck, and no real interaction with you. Then we walked into the final shop of the day - saved the best for last, let me tell you.The minute we walked in, it felt comfortable being in there. There were guys with magic decks, talking about their builds - the various cards theyre hunting for. At the table next to them, running his business listing on eBay - bagging and boarding, was Shawn. He is the absolute nicest guy youll meet, shop owner as well - the man asked if there was anything we were looking for. We gave the usual answer, Just looking around, thanks. Before we turned around, he told us where everything was - where the back issues started, where the new comics were, the books priced on the wall. We could see all of this, but the man wanted to interact and inform us, so were not lost and know whats what. When it was all said and done, we dropped hundreds of dollars that first trip. He took care of us, we opened up a box with him - listed books we want on our pull list, he gave us 20% off the books that were in our pull list. Back issues were very affordable, not overpriced like other shops. He gave us tons of freebies, he talked to us after our transaction was complete. He genuinely wanted to know about us, we went back and forth talking for 2 hours. Thats a man that values his customers, and not just the buck.The shop isnt the biggest, but the layout is the best - as is the company in Shawn. Ill tell you this, Id rather be inside a smaller shop with an owner that interacts with you, than a big shop where its clear they just want the sale. Shawn now has my wife and I as longtime/forever customers and friends. We love him, and his shop - but most importantly we love his company.

I would drive across town past other store just to come to Sanctuary. Their greeting, help and smiles are like mental HUGS. 👑

The staff makes this my #1 comic store!I have been visiting different comic shops near my work and saw this one come up in my search.Before I visited I messaged the store to see if they had a specific issues. They messaged me back within an hour saying they had one issue in stock. When I visited later that day they had pulled the issue for me, even without me asking!The staff was very kind, courteous and love to talk about comics! As a new fan myself, I appreciated them filling me in on where the series has been and where its going. They seemed genuinely happy to have a new comic fan and didnt speak down to me just because I was new (which unfortunately has happened to me at other stores).The selection is great. Tons of comics, games and collectables at good prices. Because Sanctuary is a smaller store it doesnt have quite as much in stock as the much larger stores Ive visited, but thats to be expected. I havent had any issues finding new books or unique collectibles.This will be my store of choice going forward. The great staff and selection makes me feel more welcome than any other store Ive visited so far. Cant wait to talk about new issues the next time I come in!

This place is small but offers a huge array of material of games, collectibles, and comics. Austin was so nice and welcomed me and my son as soon as we entered the store. My son was a little overwhelmed with all the choices there. Well definitely be back.

Sanctuary Comic Books has one of the best statue collections I have seen in a comic book store in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Its a small store that packs a punch. It just so happens to be right around the corner from me in Irving, but I would drive to the outskirts for a store like this, and will have to when I move. The owner and staff seem super chill and nice and it is worth a visit.

My wife and I think we found our new comic book store .. this place is so cool... They have a wall with all the hottest books on the market a good selection of new comics to choose from and they offer subscriptions as well... They have game nights with pizza!!! They also offer a great assortment of action figures as well as models.. And I wanted to give a quick shout out to Nick thank you so much for guiding me to what I needed.. Excellent service friendly staff and a very clean store over all.. I am definitely coming back :)

Its a small place for board games, comics, card games, tabletop games and just a cool welcoming place to chill and play with fellow geeks/nerds. Everyones welcome care of the friendly staff and owner. Definitely worth checking out.

MUST VISIT! This place is absolutely CRAMMED with comics and games. I was impressed with the depth of selection and surprised that they had things Ive never seen before--and thats truly saying something for this board game/RPG fanatic.This store is truly a labor of love, and both the owner and the assistant are friendly, personable, and eager to help. The store is relatively new, just a year old, but already has a thriving community of gamers and loyal customers. I hope they are wildly successful and can move to a larger space soon; the only (slight) downside is the overall lack of space and small gaming area, but even with that issue the place still deserves TEN stars. BRAVO!

A really nice and intimate store with lots of variety, highly recommended

To call it a comic and game shop is not fair. The store has 175 LONG BOXES OF COMIC ON THE SALES FLOOR---1 copy each. That alone should define it as a comic shop, but the owner is 100% dedicated to making it equally as fine of a game shop, running nightly assorted gaming groups. Its been open for less than a year, but it is already one of the best shops in the metroplex. If you know about this shop and havent been there yet, there is something wrong with you.

Very friendly little store in our neck of the woods. They had a nice supply of comics, games, and other goodies. I bought a D&D players handbook and Ill be back for some dice later.

I decided to check out this shop with the two sons interested in such things, ages 10 and 20. We arrived at 11:15 on a Sunday to find the door locked, but I have trouble getting started on Sunday mornings, too. We hit HPB, and returned a short time later to find the shop open. We were greeted kindly on entering, and shortly after the kids dug in at the graphic novel racks, the proprietor came over and explained the discounted items. Gamers were arriving, setting up, and grabbing some lunch prior to starting their games at the few tables in the store. Overall a laid-back, friendly vibe, and a surprisingly large comic book selection for the size of store, covering new publishing, reprints, and vintage selections. Games, gaming accessories, figures, and collectibles are all jammed into the available space, loosely organized.

Absolutely LOVE this place. Shawn, the owner, has stuff you wouldnt think even existed anymore. Incredible variety. Only downside is that once youre in there, its hard as hell to leave! Seriously, this place has everything and the owner is a really cool dude and extremely helpful. Never met anyone who knows more about comics than him. You need to see this place.

Some friend brought me here for some gaming on Sunday and all I have to say is WOW! It doesnt look like much from the outside but trust me, this place is amazing. The owner Shawn very much keeps that neighborhood comic shop feel alive that I felt had died out of Dallas many a year ago. Long story short is that this place became my favorite comic/game shop after 1 visit.

I recently got back into Magic the Gathering at the prerelease event of M20. A buddy of mine recommended I come with him to Sanctuary. From the first visit I was hooked and have been coming back every Tuesday to play drafts ever since. The owner is an outstanding guy that goes out of his way to make sure we are having a great time and greets everyone as a friend. Also the group of players areextremely welcoming and helpful especially to a guy like me who was recently returning to magic after many years and needed some slack on the gameflow/rules. Overall this is now a place I look forward to visiting every Tuesday and afterwards cannot wait for the next Tuesday to play again! I encourage you to stop by and give this place a shot, although I only play Magic they seem to have many different groups that play other games nearly every night. In just a few visits I feel I have already made a handful of friends and met plenty of nice people here, and thats what its all about.

Decent amount of comics and tabletop game selection for a shop of this size. Their figure inventory is great, including quite a bit of DCs Ame-Comi versions.

Been going here nearly every day for a month now, and theres no other place that I feel completely comfortable just hanging out in. The selection of comics and games makes every trip there slightly different in terms of what i do, and the awesome employees make every conversation there fresh and relaxing. Im glad this place exists, and hope it continues to get more support!

So incredibly small and you cant really shop for anything when they have tables of people playing Magic! couldnt even really see what selection of board games they had when you only have a few inches of clearing between everything.

This place is wall to wall with comics, games, art, figures, and collectibles and the owner clearly loves what hes doing. Hes especially knowledgeable about comics and most of the pull boxes are his own beloved collection. I bought a couple of TPB for 50% off and the owner mentioned hes willing to offer discounts for subscriptions and preorders. I will definitely be back.

I stopped by with my kids to buy a board game. The place is packed with comics and games. We bought Axis and Allies. The owner helped us learn the game and play it at a table at the back of the store. There are tables at the back of the store to allow game groups to come play. He sells comics, D&D, Heroclix, Magic the Gathering, Catan and a lot more. The owner is very enthusiastic and helpful.
