What a beautiful job performed by Shade by Design. We had these power shades installed this spring on our new pavilion. Excellent work and great staff to work with. They have been so prompt to our needs on several occasions. We love these. Thank you!

Dont use this company. They never return their phone calls. My shade was six weeks late being installed even though I had a date in the contract. You have to drive to their office to get any service. They have a F rating with the Indianapolis Better Business Bureau and a D rating on Angies list. There are other companies in Indy that make the same shade

Stay Away from this company!Terrible customer service after the salesman leaves. We cannot get return call unless we call repeatedly. Cannot get a straight answer when we do reach an actual person at the office. We ordered ours on July 23rd 2019. Paid half down as required. I was advised by the Owner in person it would be 4-6 weeks.Now it is October and still no awning or time frames.They still have half our money (1,768.00)Needless to say I would not ever recommend this company to anyone ever!I would have given 0 stars if it would have been an option. Very frustrating and unprofessional.

ZERO STARS! I ordered my shades Aug 2019. Its April 2020 and the shades have not been installed. Kevin Drake has my $5061 deposit. He has given me every excuse he could imagine. DO NOT do business with this company. I am going to have to pursue legal action.

Signed a contract with Shade by Design and paid 50% of the total when I submitted the signed contract. I have waited 120 days. Nothing has been done. Called them twice....the response was we dont have the necessary parts. The contract reads, The 50% down payment is non-refundable. Is this true if they dont ever do the job? What is the definition of honesty?

Absolutely terrible communication and customer service. Purchased shade from Kevin in Aug of 2019 and told him my concerns about the reviews of his company. I was assured by him that it wouldn’t be a problem. It has been a huge problem. It is now the end of February and all I have is broken promises dozens of unreturned calls emails and texts and no shade. Do not use this company.

We LOVE our awning! Its provided the perfect shade, colors look great, and the serving we received along the way was great. My only complaint was that they said it would be installed in 4 weeks, and ended up being 7-8 weeks. No big deal - I just wish follow-up would have been better on that. Thanks again! Were very happy!

Shade by Design delivers a quality product and top notch service. Ive had my retractable awning for 5 years and love it. Ive recommended them to neighbors who have purchased awnings and they love them too. 5 stars!

Zero Stars! Ordered two Awnings from this company on March 15th 2019. Called on several occasions and no answer or returned calls. Terrible communications and service! Put a deposit of $2,319.00 down and will file a claim to retrieve our money back. I was e-mailed twice giving dates of when awnings would be finished and installed, but was lied too on both occasions. Never would have purchased product from this company if I would have known it would have taken this long. BUYERS BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!😠

Its the second awning we purchased from shade by design. The family does a great job, the men that installed the awning were very professional. 5 stars

This company promised to have our work done in 4-6 weeks. They never showed up. Wouldn’t return phone calls. We went to the store, it had closed. We went to another location farther away. The door was locked during business hours. We finally got someone to let us in and they were abrupt and defensive when asked when the work would be done. We asked for our money back and they refused. Awful to work with, who knows when/if your work will be done.

I have been waiting since April for my installation and it is now July 11th. I finally got them to commit today at 9:00. On Tuesday, July 10th they called and pushed me out between noon and 2. They are still not here. Called the office and she was unsure where they were. I would not recommend this company. I think they are barely keeping in business by the seat of their pants.

Placed our order for 1 shade the first week of June. Gave them 50% down , around $1200. Promised 6 weeks. After I contacted them numerous times from July on, we still don’t have the shade. I have never gotten a return or follow-up call from all my inquiries. The last excuse inMid August was their distributor was out of motors then the motors were stuck in customs. In late October I asked them to return my deposit, tried again and left messages in November. I guess we are looking at small claims court now. Please, buyer beware!!!!

Poor experience. Very bad at communicating. Our shade was supposed to be installed in 4 weeks but instead it took 8 weeks. I probably left over 7 voicemails and not a single call was returned. I wouldnt expect good customer service once the salesman leaves your home. Will not use again or recommend.

Added shades to our Smart Pergola, and we can now enjoy our backyard year round regardless of the weather! Service has been impeccable!

Sales person came out to my house, discussed options and design. Was supposed to send an estimate out within a few days. Never did. After 6-8 weeks I called in. Talked to a lady over the phone, who got my information and said shed follow up and check on my estimate. Never heard back. Once more I tried another 6-8 later - rinse and repeat. Exactly the same thing, not even a call to say hey, we cant do anything for you. VERY disappointed. I took the time to call the manufacturer of the products they sell to let them know how poorly they are being represented in central Indiana.

WORST..... CUSTOMER .....SERVICE...... EVER. They installed a motorized pergola shade & the motor is broken. We have called them several times, and they don’t return calls. RUN AWAY. Don’t do business with them. They’re incompetent. We will file a report with Better Business Bureau so that others know about this.

Signed contract and have 50 percent down and was promised electric shades for my pavilion in May. Did not complete the job until October. That was only after threatening to sue and also had to file a complaint with the Indiana State attorney. Stay away from this company. CBS channel 4 did story on all the issues with them.

Very disappointing, ordered my awning in early July and was given an estimated delivery date of 4-6 weeks. It has been seven weeks and I still do not have a delivery date. I have called several times and when someone does answer, I am given the same excuse (they are running behind because of rain delays). I put down a 50% deposit with my order. Poor customer service !!!

The company continually delayed coming out to fix the awning under warranty. For over six weeks we would call and they would tell us that they would be out the following week. The following week the company would not show up nor would they call to let us know that they would not make it out to our house. We finally asked them to just take the awning down and give us our money back since they would not honor the warranty.Now it has been two and a half months and of course the awning is still not fixed, nor has it been removed. We have had to hire an attorney to help us come to some resolution due to the companies lack of response. I will update if we ever get this resolved.

Apparently this company does not need new business. Someone from shade by design was supposed to come out to give me an estimate and they never showed. I called a second time (a week later) to ask for an estimate and I never received a return call.

For the most part I had a good experience. But the installers had a hard time hooking to to my electrical as I had a lot of outlets with the reset. Also when they set up my wind gage, they told me they set it at 30 miles an hour as they were pylling out of my driveway. I have since learned that winds of 15 miles an hour are too mucb for the awning. As I never leave the awning out if Im not outside, the wind gage is useless. And on top of that, it spins all the time day and night and sounds lime an old man snori g. So ai put a bag around it so it cant spin.

Ridiculous service. Paid over $4,000 for blinds last fall and they dont work. They come down crooked and wont go all the way down. I called the 6 weeks ago for service (April 2014) and after at least 6 calls and an email requesting service we keep getting well get to you today but today has come and gone multiple times. When asked about their Service Department they admitted not having one. Their installers do their warranty work and apparently only when theyre not doing the money generating new installations. The blinds supposedly carry a 5 years warranty but from what Ive seen, its a taillight warranty, once the truck is out of sight, so are they. Sorry to say, but I cannot recommend this company. We too will be hiring an attorney to resolve as they obviously they do not care about servicing their customers, only getting the next sale.
