Since I was a kid... HSS always had great service... From a dirt lot and shop on 16-17th in HB to front and center on Main st. They have what you need... Pretty solid staff... Snowboards... Surfboards of course...

Great shop! Visited and found some Reefs sandals for the kids and the coffee stand inside makes a really good blacK Americano. Staff was helpful and the selection is pretty good.

Holy moly, Ive been coming here for a long time now, I have bought so so many Surfboards mostly the used ones but Im rough with sport, the surf has been good a little north, theres so much to choose from there first of all the place is huge so take your time and browse some, my girlfriend gets all excited when I get her something from here, Im sure shes thinking of something from there already. Connor helped me out a ton by getting me into a wetsuit that fits my size and also at the price point I wanted. He knows his stuff. Also there’s a ton of good looking girls walking around this store at all times so that’s cool. Thumbs up, Connor!

Good selection of apparel and gear appropriate for your Southern California trip.

They got a nice selections of tees and sweatshirts. I have been shopping here quite a while and my entire wardrobe is basically all their stuff.

All of their clothing is good quality. If you are purchasing name brand clothing you are mostly paying for the big logo, which costs more than the product. Anyway this place was cool to walk around and see but definitley too expensive for me.

Anyone working here better be getting paid big bucks because if you spend more than a couple hours a day here at the dosage of radiation and at the this distance to the cell tower you will be much more likely to develop leukemia or other cancers

Update from my last review: They completely fixed the problem for me. I talked to the Manager (Connor) and they were able to work with me and help me out after the problem I had with my board repair. Great customer service! despite me being pretty vulgar on the phone, Connor kept his cool and calmed me down and assured me that this issue will get resolved and that he just wanted to help out in any way he can. Props to HSS for acknowledging their mistake and making it right!

Great surf shop for trend wear for the whole family. The kids section is very small and limited in sizes. The women’s section is larger than the kids with All the basic surf brand. The men’s section it’s very large with a large selection of different brand .

HSS at Bella Tera customer service is outstanding. especially during these trying times. I was there around 12 noon and the two young men working there were super helpful and polite. Definitely will be going back. Thanks from TJ

Was trying to quickly buy a sweater and the first guy was like yeah you have 5 minutes and another guy came up telling us well he was going to lock the doors very rude like. I understand closing hours but let someone check out at least jeez

Mark and the team were awesome and took good care of me. The new ,used and rental board selection is excellent. Also they open at 6am and even let me store my phone and belongings while I surfed on the rental. The waves were super fun out front . Thanks HB surf 🤙

This was my 2nd time at HSS and once again they took great care of me. Jake helped me set up my surf leash and also waxed my board for free. Great service all around. I’m new to surfing so it’s important to get the right help. It is after all a dangerous sport but if you are prepared, you’ll be ok. HSS has helped me both times really well. Thx, Jake!

Horrible customer service here. I was just trying to rent a board and the gentleman helping me was making strange comments and when I gave him my card information he asked, “what is this your mom’s card?” ??? Good prices, but staff needs some help.

Ive in the area for bout 30+ years and you get a mix of people in HB. Some friendly, some not so much. However, HSS has always had a friendly group of folks working here. This has been my go-to place for surfing supplies, go-pros, and such not only because of their great sales (during holidays you can save a lot), but also their friendly sales staff. Ive always enjoyed their family like feel to the place.

Its a main street staple. Great for buying new gear, but bunk if you want to sell. Low ball offers is all I good so drop stars for that. But at least the customer service was good.

I have rented surfboards here and the staff is great and very knowledgeable and helpful. Cant be the service you get if you are looking to rent or purchase a board!

Im just a freakin tourist that lives out in the middle of America with no ocean waves to totally shred. Im a kook what can I say. , not a regular. This place had me really interested in surfing. The inside was pretty spacious and it was also very clean. The clothes were nice and the employees were pretty knowledgeable about boards. Id visit this place again next time I come back.

Pretty sad when they have items in stock on the website and then after I pay for it I get a cancellation that its not it stock. That just wasted 4 days and charged my card. Now I have to wait to get it back. In this day and age they should have a current website. They should offer a better wetsuit for the same price for their mistake. Very, very irritating.

Its so overpriced as to almost be laughable. seriously go to the frog house or the Green room in Newport Beach its not that far of a drive down PCH and those are with people that actually really know what theyre talking about when it comes to surfing bodysurfing anyting ocean-related excetera. they also offer a lot of good used wetsuits and boards for prices that are way way better than places like Surfside and jacks and here which is just a little bit better

Very poor customer service. They must get so many customers as they are right next to the pier that the employees dont bother asking if you need help or a please and thank you. The blonde girl who checked me out seemed very annoyed and it showed.

I bought 2 boards from here - a retro style fish by lost and a psycho killer also by lost. Jake was super helpful and was very knowledgeable about boards and gave me some advice on trips and packing. He also talked me into buying a boardbag and 2 buell wetsuit tops. 6 star sevice from Jake.

Awful. Very disappointed. I went to exchange a pair of unworn pants because of a seam tear my wife noticed. With receipt tried to exchange the pants for the same pant color and style. The manager said no no. Offered I buy a new pair at a discount. Spent 2800 there on Christmas gifts in December for my daughters and on receipt but still said sorry. Never again. These folks can pound Sand.

Great place for wetsuits and beach gear. Friendly staff, and alot if weekends there are sidewalk sales! Parking sucks but not if you are planning to spend the day at the beach.

I went in to buy a board for my indo trip coming up. Heading to Bali in 1 week and needed a traditional shortboard and a grovel for higher tides at keramas,etc. Jake was working in the wetsuit section and there was no one around so he came up to me and asked “I can tell you have a trip coming up”. Very nice to see how he took an interest in my surfing life. And we talked and talked. Ended up buying a starter (modern) board for my girlfriend too. I got a JS model and a super brand as my grovel. Jake made my day. Of course my boardbag broke, so I came in the next day and he was working in The same spot and said “Hey Jim” and shook my hand. So I bought a 4-Board bag from prolite. Jake was very helpful and had a great experience. I don’t know his last name but he had blonde hair and was around 5’10 wearing a HSS hoodie. Stoked of how young he is working (he told me he was 15 and I would never have guessed). Thanks Jake for the boards!!

Downtown HB icon. We send people to the board room for surfboard rentals a lot and they get a pretty good deal. The coffeeshop is like a hidden gem.

BOARD SHOP REVIEW —Some may be weary about buying a board from a chain — but my experience was different. Ive bought a few boards from local shops (Bruce Jones / Sakal) but HSS had some really nice boards I was interested in. No rush, no hard sell at all. The guys in the board shop were very knowledgable. Thanks.

Quality shop with great staff

Lame. Employees walked around giving me the side eye and ignoring me, even when it was obvious I needed something. Chick at the checkout didnt say a word and practically threw the bag at me over the counter. I walked outside and wanted to turn around and go right back in and take my purchases back. There is so much good shopping in the area, esp surf stuff, I dont know why anyone would go to this place twice.

Great selection, bad service. Not once approached by a sales person, had to ask three times for assistance. Finally had to climb on boxes to help myself to the jacket size I needed. Ridiculous. Staff should be fired.

A good selection of stuff, prices are OK. Go on a Tuesday when you can get some items on discount. Service wasnt very good so you better know what you want to get and not expect much help...

The workers were not friendly and followed my boyfriend around the store . I had a gray dress in my hands that I was going to purchase and was looking around to see if I wanted to buy anything else . They asked if I was looking for anything in a rude voice and I said n I’m browsing . Then he proceeds to talk to the girl over her mic and she asked the same thing . Don’t like to be accused of stealing .
