I really enjoyed this place. The atmosphere is totally Portland! I love it. The vending machine made me laugh! Most of all the bartender Rosie was amazing we had a great talk and went out of her way for us because pancakes are over at 4 pm and I was there at 5 but she talked to the cook and I got pancakes. Great experience! The only thing I didnt like is there is only 2 fountain soda flavors but thats not a huge deal everything else made up for that

Seemed trendy at first but really was stuffed full of charm. I just missed the breakfast rush so there was no wait. On the back deck just enough shade to not be really hot very very chill. I ordered the gorilla biscuit, my server suggested a fried egg in top. It was beautiful and delicious. I think any style egg would work inside or on top. Normally I add pepper, but just a dab of hot sauce around the edges was all it needed. Perfectly seasoned with great flavor.. I will be going back. Ps the bacon was thick and mouth watering, cooked but not dry.

While it might not look like much from the outside, Blackheart is a little gem that personifies Portland perfectly. It has its own character in an adult breakast/lunch bar with outside seating and a unique look inside.I dont eat red meat and ordered a Brunch Burger with a beyond burger instead of beef and veggie bacon instead of regular bacon. After I made my substitutions clear the person taking my order, Rosie, was very astute and asked if I wanted egg or not, with the intuition that I was vegan (Im not, but it was nice that they were thoughtful enough to make sure I was being given everything according to my restrictions).Overall, the burger and included hashbrowns were absolutely delicious! The sauce on the burger was tasty and abundant, the pattie had a slight crisp to it which I loved, and the house made pickles and lemonade were sweet and tart but not overpowering. My only complaints that keep it from a 5-star rating are that the ketchup had some black residue around the top and cap, and the booth seat cushions fell off at the slightest movement forward so getting comfortable was a bit difficult.Other than that, it was a fantastic experience!

There were so many delicious-sounding things on the menu, it was hard to choose! We got the Nashville chicken sandwiches, which were giant! The server was very friendly and I appreciated her honesty in sharing which dishes she liked and which she wouldn’t recommend. Plus...you HAVE to check out the vending machine out back!

I kinda fell in love yesterday, tbh. Their egg sardou was delicious (I devoured it). The back patio is sweet and they have WiFi. I mean... Love going midweek, as they seem not to be busy at that time. Chilling on the patio with my laptop over a delicious lunch sounds just about right! Will definitely be back when I can enjoy one of their house cocktails (Im looking at you, CBDB OMFG!)Edited to add: Today, I introduced my kiddo to Black Heart after spending the day at Oxbow Regional Park on a field trip. We needed to refuel. I had the Scrambler (OMG) and he ordered a single pancake. There are now two huge fans in the family. In addition to very tasty food, we had a tech issue with my payment and they were patient and accommodating. I peeked out back, and they have the patio covered for winter, altho we chose to sit inside in a comfy both. Cant recommended enough.

If 21+ burbon syrup with your chicken & waffles, a dark aesthetic, and a server named Coyote sound like a good time... Well, its because it is.Theres parking on the premises, so if its not too busy you can easily snag a spot for your gas guzzler. The Vegetarian and Vegan options are plenty, as they offer alternatives for most of the dishes on the menu. I got the Fried Chicken Benny with a side of hash browns (so good). My friend got the Vegan Chicken & Waffles with burbon syrup and she digged that too.10/10 would sacrifice a morning or evening to eat here.

Had high hopes for this new breakfast spot in my neighborhood. We ate on the small patio out back. Cool little spot to sit outside. The food was good and reasonably priced. Not cheap, but reasonable. My Fried Chicken Benedict was delicious. Very crispy and well seasoned. However, the service left much to be desired. We were one of 2 occupied tables when we arrived. We had to go find our server to order after she brought our coffee. She had forgotten about us. One of 2 tables. My friend ordered the pancakes and 2 over easy eggs on the side. Eggs did not arrive with the pancakes. The cook had to redo the eggs. The redo came out with a broken yolk. If your cook cant do over easy eggs, you may need a new cook. Just sayin. I ate my Benedict and finished my coffee, but the promise of a refill on the coffee never came. I requested a refill when she went to retrieve our bill. The coffee she poured for me was cold. Not luke warm. Cold. Probably wont be back.

*update* Forget what I said, this place is on point with their food and drinks. I went on a fluke day, and Ive totally changed my mindService was attentive as possible considering the restaurant was full with only 2 waiters during Sunday brunch. Sat down at our table 11:20, didnt get our cold food till 1:20. Apparently a chef didnt show up for work, so the entire restaurant had to wait. Its really unfortunate, the menu looked promising.Food was comped and the waiter was apologetic, but wont be going back after that experience.

This is brunch review. I really wanted to like this place, but let’s just say my experience was less than spectacular. First off, the service was incredibly slow. It wasn’t entirely the server’s fault though, because they seemed short staffed. Still, they forgot about us...twice. We never got any water, I needed to ask for silverware 3 times, and we never had our coffee refilled. The only thing that was quick was the check. Apparently they didn’t forget that. Our server was very apologetic and friendly though. She even gave us a discount. Now the food. Unfortunately our unpleasant brunch experience continued as the food was subpar. Weak coffee, burnt pancakes, burnt, interesting-tasting (not in a good way) sausage and 2 orders of scrambled eggs that tasted completely different. One warm and tasty, the other cool and bland. Meanwhile the chicken and waffles consisted of a small but decent piece of fried chicken on top of a not decent flat rubbery “Belgian” waffle saturated with syrup. The cocktails were okay though. Nothing special, but fine. The only reason I’m giving 2 stars instead of one is because of the friendly staff, and that it’s relatively new and maybe still finding its way. Other than that, nothing worked, and it we were very disappointed.

Interior was brighter than I remembered albeit a little cold. Waitress was nice. Menu items were cleverly named. Lots of options for vegetarians. Most of the menu items seem pretty heavy (ie carb-y/dense). Tons of drink options, especially boozy ones.Im not much of a drinker so started with coffee which was not good, cant put my finger on it, but it was so bad that I checked the menu for the brand and made a mental note not to get it ever again. Got the sardou, tasty, but seemed to lack complexity as the main flavor was dill. My friend got the shrimp and grits which was good but a bit too spicy, covering up any flavors. Not sure if Ill be back but go check it out for yourself.

The food is horrible. HORRIBLE. All the food in Portland is bad now. I blame the newcomers who are constantly raving about how good the food is; everywhere they go.
