Big portions, great taste, kid-friendly AND health-friendly drinks, fast service, outdoor seating, and easy to access to-go containers. So glad we found this gem after a trip to Buchanans nursery. We will definitely be visiting Lola again for brunch post-pandemic. Note to self: my 4 year old will be satisfied with a side salad. One kids meal for two grazing kids is more than plenty.
This diner is self serve, meaning you get your own drinks and silverware. My boyfriend and I came after our regular boomtown coffee. Very difficult to park due to lack of space. It isnt their fault though. I do wish that they were more cautious on distancing customers. Its very packed in the morning around 10AM. I ordered the chicken fried chicken with scrambled eggs and my boyfriend ordered the chicken and waffles with a side of egg. A woman inside was extremely rude and didnt want to move her leg when we wanted to sit down after paying and getting a number, I dont care Im going to sit here I asked if if she had paid and if she could remove her leg, she didnt move and could care less. She stinked and mean mugged me the entire time I was at the restaurant. Sat outside and she still had a starring problem. Regardless, yummy food, good temperature, a lot of food, Id come back.
Love this place. Black bean burger is delicious . My dad always gets the pecorino chicken and he eats the whole thing. Fresh and large portions.
We went at quarter till eight for pie, because their website says that they are open till nine. They are not open till nine. The lady behind the counter tried to give us a rude brush-off: Were only taking take-out orders, and we close at eight. Lady, were just here for pie.We didnt stop the lady from getting home to whatever was more important than her job of feeding people. And the pie was okay, I guess. Well done everyone.
Absolutely wonderful experience. The staff was amazing! The food was great! And I made a new bird friend. Rick would be proud of my bird friend that I was informed was a gracklin by another customer and not a crow.
Food is always delicious, I’m regular customer and my favorite is the Pan seared Salmon. I had late lunch today and I forgot my purse. I called and spoke to Javier about it. He put my purse behind the counter, I just want to thank Javier and staff for being honest people! Thank you!
Im not sure what its like to visit Lola but they are perhaps the worst Houston restaurant for ordering online. For example I ordered pancakes with banana and strawberry which arrived with 2 slices of banana and one quarter of one strawberry. If they had left the fruit out entirely Id think they had simply messed up the order but Im not sure what to make of banana strawberry pancakes with two slices of banana and one quarter of one strawberry. It felt like a cook trying to get fired or something equally strange and personal. Anyway, Id recommend skipping them on Grubhub.
Diner food at its finest and very reasonable prices. The food is consistently delicious, and not overpriced for breakfast, especially for that area. This is always a favorite spot, and we keep coming back
Food was great but gf said the chicken tasted more like fish with the chicken and waffles. Make sure to change the grease or pan fry the chicken. The grits were amazing!
Our first indoor dining experience since the pandemic did not disappoint! We went for breakfast- the potatoes are cooked and seasoned perfectly; multiple delicious vegetarian options for the omelets and can replace the side of sausage or bacon with a fruit bowl which is much appreciated. The portions are huge so plenty to take home. We felt very safe given the distancing of the booths/tables. Will definitely come again when in Houston!
Visited them on a lunch date. Food was tasty, variety of items on the menu. Overall nice atmosphere.
Food was great tasting and flavorful. Service was on point and the ladies were quite friendly. The decor is nice and the floorplan was open. Definitely on the upscale side when it comes to diners. Only thing that threw me off was having to get my own silverware and condiments. All in a all it was a very nice place to have breakfast and start my vacation.
The chicken and waffles was good but the service was lacking. The fruits in my sons chicken strip plate were old. They dont mention when theyre out of things in the menu so we ended up returning my husbands food. Still I do recommend this place because maybe I went on an off day. I will be returning to see how things go when you go earlier in the day. Who knows maybe this will become a regular brunch spot!
Delicious Breakfast. I had the Huevos Rancheros and they were awesome. The workers had face mask and were very polite and patient with me since I had no idea what to order.Sat outside and enjoyed the light music playing in the background. Did not have to wait too long to receive the food and it was delicious. The eggs were cooked perfectly to my liking.Staff was friendly. Walked by a few times to check up on us. Sodas are self served and so are utensils. Ample parking. I saw a dog outside, I hope its dog/pet friendly. :)
A+ food. C- operations. First time here for my bday weekend and they forgot my gfs order. Sat there for 10 mins while they walked by several times while we waited and didn’t touch my food. Finally I said something but didn’t get an apology or anything just “it’s coming”. My food was cold by the time she got hers. I asked for more fruit on the chicken and waffles and no one gave me a reply or anything. I guess 6 blueberries and 1/8th of a strawberry is good enough.
Stopped by for breakfast on the way out of Houston. I ordered breakfast Lola with bacon, scrambled eggs w/ cheese, potatoes, wheat toast and I added grits. I should have said no cheese on the grits because they sprinkled cheese on top instead of cooking it into them. By doing that, it made the grits stiffened up really quick after I mixed it in. The bacon was cold like it was pre-cooked. I don’t have a problem with being prepared but it should have been under cooked and put back on grill as ordered. The cheese was not mixed in the eggs either, just sprinkled on top. I liked the potatoes and toast. My husband ordered pancake, bacon and scrambled eggs with cheese. Coffee was good. Pics are what’s left after we ate. Little changes to the food could really do this place justice.

Im a bit confused about the quality of food I just received. I ordered their famous SoCal omelette with bacon and sausage and their parmesan grits. The parmesan grits had cheddar cheese on top which I thought was strange since it never mentioned this ingredient, extremely bland so I added some salt and pepper. Whats most disappointing is that everything is extremely oily. I mean the eggs the bacon sausage theres just a ton of oil. It seems they dont take much pride in using fresh produce either because the avocados are very...not fresh looking. I was expecting a lot more considering the quality this place seems to give off. On their Instagram it shows completely fresh vibrant food and thats exactly what I was expecting and my expectations were completely ruined by the lack of thought and process put into their food for me. Most likely will not be ordering again unfortunately.
My friend and I found this place by accident. He tried it, and everything was delicious. The service was fantastic!!! Definitely recommend
The customer service and atmosphere is alright, just like your average diner. Its definitely worth trying if youre looking for good comfort food at affordable prices. I got chicken and waffles and I was not disappointed. The breading is soft and flavorful. I would definitely go back.
Went here today, around 4:30 pm. Was hoping it would be a cute little diner with great food but was sadly disappointed. There was only one or two other tables as I walked in. I waited at the counter with no greeting while the cook played on his phone in the kitchen. My order was taken by a woman who seemed flustered and tired (which makes me feel like she was understaffed and over worked) She was nice though and the transaction was quick. As I waited I started to look at the kitchen as I stood at the bar and I was appalled to say the least. The windows need cleaned, and the ceiling above the kitchen as well as the signs, but I gave that the benefit of the doubt because thats not a food prep area. However, in the kitchen prep area there was a giant mayo container that is supposed to be prepped and in the fridge, crusted over on the rims. There were old frying pans sitting on the burners, that hadnt been used or cleaned in who knows how long. There was burnt bread and grime on the toaster oven, The bread on the bread rack was completely open, and there was more pans on the bread rack covered in bacon grease and slime. The final straw though, was another cook came out, and had touched the walls, the doors, everything and both of them touched my meal and picked things off the bread, at that point, I had to call it quits and leave. Im not saying they had to wear gloves but they couldve washed their hands.As someone who has worked in a restaurant I know that dishes get dirty, and kitchens get messy. But this was negligence, and the result of the owner letting this place get to where it is and not maintaining cleaning regularly; frankly the only woman who seemed to care (the one at the counter and being the wait staff), seems over whelmed and I felt sympathetic for her. I really really hope this place gets the cleaning it deserves and the staff it needs. It could be a great place.
Ordered a ceaser chicken wrap and as i took a couple of bites, the taste of the chicken was burnt. From first appearance the chicken didnt seem burnt, but the taste was. I had to remove the chicken in order to eat the rest of the wrap. Will not be going back unfortunately.
My wife and I decided to try this Heights diner after googling “best chicken and waffles in Houston”. Let me say, we were not disappointed.Parking here was plentiful and we were greeted kindly as soon as we walked in. They have paper menus, as well as a large painted menu over the counter where you order.The gentleman taking our order was extremely friendly as we told him we had traveled from League City for our first visit.When our order came to our table we were both pleased with how delicious it was. The chicken was extremely moist and flavorful. The berry compote was delicious and fresh. The waffles were amazing as well.If you’re looking for some great chicken and waffles, give this place a try. But be warned, we were told that it’s packed on the weekends!
They had decent music playing throughout the entire night which was cool.The appetizers were amazing and the overall taste of our food was actually very enjoyable.I wish i had an option to give some additional starsFantastic service and food to die for. A great dining experience in here. Highly recommended.
Very nice overall atmosphere of old diner. Food is equally good and tasty. Ordered milkshake and it was amazing. Will return again to try more items on many.
Recently visited this eclectic spot in the Heights. I loved the atmosphere, the wallpaper in the restroom and especially the phone booth door that was transformed as a real front door. The food was delicious, service was welcoming and prompt, and I will definitely be visiting again in the very near future!
Bring a box of tissues when you come eat hear because tears of joy will flow like the nile. If you can believe it, one of my favorite parts of my breakfast was the sourdough toast! Don’t leave here without getting it. I can’t speak for the other dishes at my table (because I was eating with the “don’t touch my food” people) but the chicken fried chicken was amazing. Perfectly cooked. The inside was moist and the outside crunchy fried. The chicken and waffles here is also very good. Just make sure you come here with people who like to share their food because you’re gonna want a bite!
Good portions and fresh food. However, I was not 100% happy with the pancakes. I ordered plain pancakes with blueberry topping but the blueberries were placed between the pancakes and melted into them which made them taste like blueberry pancakes.
Passed this place so many times, so we decided to finally try the food. The food was very mediocre. First ordered the veggie lasagna, side of sweet potato fries, and the basic cheeseburger. The burger was fine but the fries in the small bowl were slightly burnt. The sweet potato fries were okay, but Ive tasted better, fresher, and less burnt. The veggie lasagna was very liquidy and oily upon using the fork the break the lasagna. I dont know how it tastes because I didnt even eat it. I sent it back for a different dish. I got the chicken Caesar wrap. It was okay, but the chicken was very unseasoned and burnt tasting as well.I would hate to see the type of food they produce when they are actually busy at lunch time because we came around 2:30 and there were less than 10 people in Lolas. I only say this because our food seemed as if it was created in a hurry, yet it took us more than 20 minutes to receive our food. This wont be a go too place of mine. They maybe on their A game during the lunch rush. I may try again at some point, hopefully Ill receive non-burnt food.
Very good food with super friendly staff. They did seem a little understaffed yesterday with the gentleman taking orders and running food but he was busting his butt!Chicken and waffles were to die for. I sampled some other entress my family ordered and they were all pretty good (mine was the best)
Food was good ….the only thing is there was a funny smell where we were sitting …and they dnt clean the tables good we had to ask her to come back and clean the table again.
I was honestly really very excited to eat here with my step-dad. I love the old fashioned theme diner, but the drink machine wasn’t working so they gave us limited options. Which is fine but they don’t accept cash.

They need a new waitstaff. Imagine them letting you sit there waiting an hour for a to go order thats been sitting on the counter with the wrong name the whole time. Now my job is on the line and my customers are upset. If you enjoy being ignored then by all means come on in.
First, the positive. Lola serves all-American diner food at a very reasonable price. Our bill was $26 for two people, and we left satisfied. We ordered the French toast and breakfast skillet. The food came quick and hot. My husband thought his chicken-fried chicken was delicious.Lola cooks, keep doing your thing.Unfortunately, there were several examples of general negligence that any halfway-experienced manager would have remedied immediately.Someone has put some effort into painting, but the same effort needs to go into cleaning and maintaining the restaurant.- The mugs at the drink station were dirty, which I pointed out and the tray was taken away.- The coffee station counter was covered in sugar, milk and coffee spills.- One of the booths in the indoor dining area had been taken apart and was being used for storing boxes.- Outside we wanted to sit at a covered table but there was a spilled drink underneath. We sat at another table and no one came to clean up the spill during our entire meal- Several of the outdoor patio tables had food bits left on the top- Several of the outdoor patio tables were missing chairs and condiments- The table next to us wasnt bussed after they left. So much time passed that a group of crows settled in and starting picking at the plate. This when on for several minutes before a waiter finally appear to shoo the birds away. Only then did they clear the table.Save yourself the headache of trying to find parking on Heights Blvd. Head to Dennys for a similar experience and cleaner table tops.
Meh, waffle machine was broken. So no chicken n waffles for me. Overpriced OJ(pretty sure it is nothing special). They didn’t have milk of any kind. The severing of the food was odd, we had different waiters come over and over to bring out our food. Then twice on items that were forgotten. Seems like the method of getting plates out isn’t ideal. Friendly servers and food was ok for the most part. Not a knock, but not ideal for large parties.(more of an FYI)
Stopped by on Sunday afternoon with my wife for a casual evening. Wasnt expecting too much maybe a sandwich and sit outside to enjoy the beautiful day. Once inside looked over menu and decided on Chicken and Waffles and the wife got Chicken Fried Steak. We paid for food and went outside to wait on our food and sat down at the table for some casual conversation. Shortly into talking the very nice waitress brought out our food and I was immediately excited. The food looked absolutely delicious and was hot. I took out my phone for the plate photos. I must admit.....the food was great!!! The wife and I said we would definitely be coming back. I highly recommend the Chicken and Waffles👍
Usually love this place. Waited for 45 minutes for Pasta Frankie, which is my go to item to order. I do love it, but no pasta is worth a 45 minute wait. Then the wait staff had the audacity to be annoyed when I started getting impatient about how long my wait was. Maybe take some things off the menu at certain times or days when you know you cant prepare it in a decent amount of time
Always a great places ...they have been under staffed since Covid .....but still give them a try cause they are GREAT every time

This was my first time there. The chicken and waffles were delicious. Made perfectly with the right amount of syrup, whip cream and blueberries and cherries. I will definitely be back for breakfast.I also liked the safe distancing shown in and outside of the restaurant. This is a good spot if you want good breakfast food.
My FAVORITE brunch place in Houston. (Which is saying something because I’m very picky when it comes to brunch and Houston has a ton of great places). I have liked every single thing I’ve tried on their menu. Outstanding quality and flavor. The staff is always so friendly. I highly recommend anything with bacon and/or fried chicken. Also, the orange juice is AMAZING.
So, I arrived to Lolas excited, only to leave a bit disappointed. Upon arrival as I ordered my food the cashier told me that they were not able to give/serve me 2 shelled scrambled eggs cooked soft, but not runny. Instead, I was offered liquid eggs to scramble to go with my order of the Lolas Breakfast. When I asked her why, she claimed that they have problems doing that. I was in awe and very disappointed. I repeated my request to her to make sure she understood me. However, she assured me she did understand as I said it to her in Spanish. The other deal was there was no internet/Wi-Fi that was usable in the restaurant. Otherwise, the food was good. They had KATS coffee there. I loved the menu selections. They restaurant was clean and neat. Parking was not so bad. Therefore, even though I liked the food. I will not return anytime soon.
For the past two years Lola’s has been a weekly/bi-weekly go-to. The breakfast is so good! I love their pancakes topped with fruit and chocolate. My favorite breakfast and brunch spot.
I wish I could rate it higher. I went it and asked if they had any vegan options, as their website had said Ask about our vegan options! I was told Not really. I stated that they probably should not advertise vegan options if they didnt have any, and the woman working said Yeah, there has been some talk about removing that from the website. Compete waste of time. Granted, this experience happened quite some time ago, but it has always left a sour taste (or lack of a taste) in my mouth.
The food was AWESOME! Mouthwatering! I had the chicken fried steak w/ the BEST mashed potatoes and fresh greenbeans. My friend had the ribeye (melt in your mouth yummy) w/ fries. We both tasted each others food and if I couldve Id eaten both plates! One of the best chicken fried steak ever! Thanks Lola. The coffee was too weak though.

Ive never had a bad meal here, everything is so delicious and super fresh. They also have vegan options so its a great option to bring your friends with dietary restrictions

If I could rate this restaurant a -0, I would. First off our first time ordering from this place was about a week ago. Delivery driver was kinda slow but hey we didnt trip. Because it was out of hiscontrol of that. He is on Lolas time. Open up our food they forgot the fruit and toppings. TODAY food ordered at 7:30 a.m. this morning our food arrived at 10:00 a.m. In between waiting for our food and the Door Dash driver texting complaining about the wait. I called this restaurant at least 6 times before someone answered. I spoke with Josslyn she said the manager Jason Weaver didnt come in until noon. Long story short she said she was very short hand and was trying to get my order out. Fast forward. Food arrives a 3rd of my order isnt in my bag. Smh. Bad part about all this is. The food isnt bad, their customer service is.

We want to love Lolas and I think at one point we did. Weve ordered from them a handful of times. This last order will likely be our last. We had one item missing entirely and then a salad that cost $12 didnt even come with bacon as included or any dressing for that matter (thankfully we had our own in the fridge). His soup and my fries were also ice cold and needed to be reheated. My husband ordered from Lolas a week ago and the food was cold and took over an hour and a half but we thought we would give it another chance cause typically we do love the taste of the food. I tried calling a few times to explain what happened to our order but each time I got the voicemail (during normal business hours). We were extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with our $45 delivery that fell far short of expectations. Anyone ordering delivery please be cautious during peak business hours.
Got the French toast and the chicken and waffles with fruit, they were delicious. My only complaint is that the chicken and waffles was supposed to come with fruit and we never got the fruit. The restaurant is mostly self served, you place the order and you have to find your table and someone brings you your order. Once they bring you your order no one comes to check if you need something.
Oh my the food was delicious but the space needed serious cleaning. Perhaps they were understaffed that day.
