Got my first decent pipe. Excellent price when compared to online prices. Enjoying a morning bowl now. Cigar price and selection rivals the best in town. The smell of the store is amazing, and the pipe tobacco I picked up is very aromatic and tastes better than any cigar I have ever had. Its hard to explain cigars often have too much of a room note and you will just agitate people after a smoke. However, after a bowl out of the pipe it sent my wife in a tizzy. Im enjoying the new hobby, the ceremony and ritual is very relaxing.

I just got into smoking cigars and knew nothing about them. We were going to dinner next door and decided to stop in. We were greeted very welcoming and had our questions answered and more. We were taught so much to have a enjoyable first time and i was not disapointed. I cant recommend enough

Great smoke shop. This cigar store has a wonderful selection of cigars, including many exclusive or limited release examples that are hard to find elsewhere. If you are looking for gifts for a smoker they have tons of lighters, Ash trays, humidors, and more! Very informative and helpful staff. Indoor smoking area is members only, but there is a patio if you want to smoke at the shop.

My God its full of cigars! Arriving early for lunch Saturday with a buddy near Willowbrook mall and I googled as I always do cigars shop near me. The only thing that came up was Lone Star Tobacco. I was skeptically until I saw the positive Google maps entry and photos. It looked like a interesting, fun real cigar store-just what the doctor ordered.Lunch done and a six minute drive later I was blown away by a hybrid of an old school B&M wrapped in a Galleria Uptown Park facade. But, this place set itself apart with lovely bones, as they say. It was crammed wall to wall, top to bottom, inch by ever loving inch with tobbacco accessories.  Then, like some orphan waif on a pilgrimage trying to deliver a letter to the North Pole, I entered the walk-in humidor.  It was like stumbling into Santas secret workshop where he keeps all the best toys. It was deceptively large space like a coal mines with new veins of the finest cigars to be plucked and harvested all around you. Im a humidor rat so I geeked out from sensory overload. You want it they had it. They had it all and then some (my camera all ready low on battery strength valiantly recorded a record of what I could for those who will come searching for me. The photo of the Bigfoot walking into the caverness humi smoking a LFD will have them puzzled for decades. Lol!). I purchased a few discount smokes, but realized this was where a labor of love met commerce-a small temple to all things good about cigars. It was like being twelve all over again and desiring to squat Indian style and read comic books on the floor for hours, lost in thought, escape, fantasy and pure bliss, but with cigars now.There was a few cons for me, while simple to find it, it was a long drive for me, and had only a members lounge to smoke. The volume of merchandise devoted to cigar afficinados was immense. But, because of that the aisles were a wee bit narrow to navigate. Although, they had a great many metal chairs and tables set up out front to smoke outside, a inside public area is always a welcomed touch, but it is what it is. A pleasant suprise was the long hours (10 am -10 pm) almost daily, except for Sunday. The staff was attentive, helpful and extremely knowledgable. This cigar store got it right and they know it and are proud of that fact. I was going to pass them by for another day where I had more time to spend and explore, but I just had a gut feeling I should make the time to visit that day. And for that I was rewarded greatly.  I highly recommend Lone Star Tobacco as a MUST visit. I know Ill be back, just not as often as I like. It a strong contender for a top five cigars shop in the greater Houston area, if not the state. Why? There so much more steak than sizzle here. So, despite my devilous nature, I think Ill strongly consider changing my way to visit Santas cigar workshop again.

This is one of the very few independent cigar shops left in Houston. Great selections, friendly and knowledgable staff. Open late, which is nice for after dinner cigar hunting. Prices are reasonable. Convenient location and plenty of parking. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Give them a try if you are new in town.

I left it in my car for an hour or so and my car smelled like a dessert shop. Cherry is also a great choice. They also have a wide variety of cigars available.Ive purchased a couple of pipes, pipe tools, and a few ounces of tobacco from Lone Star Tobacco and will be back for more when the time comes.

Stopped in to buy a cigar and do some work in their lounge. Not being from Houston I was looking for a place to work and enjoy a stick in their lounge. I offered to purchase a stick from their humidor if I could work there but their policy is Members Only. I explained my situation but Jake & Jack would not let me use their lounge. So instead I left and went somewhere else to buy my cigars and work. I will not stop here next time I am in town nor will I recommend them to anyone else. What an arrogant place! I wouldnt buy a Swisher Sweets from this place.

As someone relatively new to cigar smoking I was pleased with how helpful the staff is at Lone Star Tobacco. They took the time in teaching me about the cigars and helping me select several to try. I have since returned multiple times to purchase and experience new and delicious smokes.Lone Star Tobacco is my go to store and will continue to see repeat business from me. With the selection they have you will always have something new to try.

Great selection of cigars. Two older guy in the shop, one of them extremely nice, the other one not at all. He rushed me out the shop while looking for some cigars in the humidor, telling me to make it quick because it was time to close, even though it was 15 minutos till closing time. I purshases two cigars (the first ones I had taken a look at) and left 10 minutes before closing time, same time they started turning the light off and closing the doors, guess they were in a rush to leave. Didn’t felt welcomed.

As a new pipe smoker, I found the information, though reluctant at first very informative and educational. The gentleman hand walked me through, piece by piece in helping me find my initial pipe and accessories.

Came in looking for an auxiliary mouthpiece for my fathers pipe, staff was attentive and quick to assist me, even made a quality suggestion on starter pipe tobacco at request. Nice shop.

Still relatively new to cigars and this place was a great find. Staff is exceptionally knowledgeable and answered all my questions without making me feel inferior. Will be back soon.

Entirely too much attitude from the staff when I walked in the door. Acting like youre doing me a favor by letting me in the door means Ill be perfectly happy to walk right back out. I can go to my country club if I want to make fun of snobs with my buddies.

My and his buddy visited the shop today and had a similar experience to Terrance. Bad customer service and this day pass thing is utterly ridiculous. Considering the prices are so elevated. The only shop that I know that would rather lose customers then let them smoke the cigar that they purchased in the shop. Will make sure to tell all our friends not to come to this shop.

I am from out of town, here in Houston for a week. A good friend and his family, also from out of town just happened to be at Fort Hood Texas this week so we decide to link up in Houston, grab some chow and a cigar. So far so good, right.We Google cigar shops and the reviews on this spot were great so we go. We were greeted by an older gentleman that promptly informed us within seconds of entering that the smoking lounge was for members only and we would not be allowed to sit and smoke. And, it didnt stop there... He told us we could sit outside and smoke (it was nearly 100 degrees at the time) or we could go down the street and sit outside at a restaurant that allowed smoking.We decided neither option was what we were looking for, but decided to give the humidor a look since we were there. My buddy decided to purchase a batch of cigars (nearly $100 dollars worth) and as he is cashing out I decided to ask the young guy at register if they would consider making an exception for a couple of retired military guys that had driven two hours each to get caught up over a good cigar?The young guy says to us the room is for members only, but we do have $5 dollar day passes you can buy and enter the room. When we inform him that his co-worker (the older guy) told us we would have to sit outside the young guy apologizes and gives us the passes and allowed us to enter the lounge.Im not trying to call this anything than what it felt like to my buddy and I... One he is Hispanic and I am Black. Together we have nearly 48 years of military service as Infantry and Special Forces officers. We spent nearly 12 mins or more with the older White guy and he made it VERY clear we had no chance in Hell smoking in the shopss lounge. He had more than enough time to tell us about the day pass option, instead he elected to tell us we could smoke outside or wait an hour and go down the street when a restaurant that allowed smoking opened...Thats how it happened... Plain and simple and I leave up to all that read this review to form their own conclusions.RESPONSE TO FORBES - 8/9/16Hello ForbesThanks for your kind response. Unfortunately, we are no longer in the area, but I do appreciate your offer. Your shop, humidor, selections and smoke lounge is indeed top notch. And, I do understand the members only concept. I have visited this cigar shop twice, on both occasions I got a feeling that I wasn’t welcome. In my opinion, the cigars are way over priced and I would not be back.
