We bought a small wedge of buttermilk blue cheese and it was pretty good. The people working here seem to know their cheeses. It would be nice to sample some of the cheeses, I might buy more if I knew I liked it. You can get snacks or stuff that pairs well, they even have wine.

Probably the greatest cheese shop in Texas. The kind and extremely helpful staff even keep a profile of the cheeses you’ve had, and are always willing to help suggest great pairings. The cheeses are top notch and selection is wide— what more could one want?

Wonderful place and fun too! Houston Dairymaids showcase 5 different unique cheeses on Saturday. You can have a small taste of each of these 5 cheeses. Then, you can buy, if you wish, your favorite(s) or none! Dairymaids also feature French baguettes, crackers, jellies, honey, and wines. These folks are experts! They are open during the week, closed on Sunday. However, I have only been on Saturday so I dont know if cheese samples are available during the week. Special order cheese boards are also available for online or in-store purchase. Delivery may be available but, again, not sure about this. Cool place to buy family and friends an unique holiday or party gift!

We recently moved away from the Heights due to a job change, and I seriously miss this place (Houston Dairymaids). I havent found anywhere else in Houston that compares to the selection, quality, pricing, and staff at Houston Dairymaids. We will be making trips up to the Heights for Houston Dairymaids and a few other favorites!Lindsey, the owner, is a class-act human and her shop deserves all the positive press theyve received and then some! If you enjoy and want to access to real quality cheeses, this is the place in Houston, Texas. They are easy to find being just inside loop 610 in the Heights. The owner works hard to find the best hand-made cheeses she can find. They are generally made from 100% all natural unpasteurized milk, and the variety of cheeses they offer is really impressive. I suggest going in, visiting with their super friendly staff. Check out all the different products from all over the world, including Texas goat cheeses, aged Vermont cheddars, picirino-romano from Italy, and let them share their vast cheese knowledge with you. I promise they know cheeses, their products and will take really good care of you.

I had a speedy but friendly visit as part of a Wheres Waldo local business search. I truly wish that I had discovered this place before I developed a dairy allergy. The staff were quite gracious and welcoming. They host free weekly cheese tastings of six of their 150 Texas cheeses. They also offer a decent selection of wines, jams, and crackers to pair with the cheeses. Additionally, cheese plates of various sizes can be ordered online.

A great and rememberable experience!🙂First visit, and was pleasantly surprised to learn that every day they’re open they offer complementary cheese tasting of six different cheeses.Where else in town can you find that!They change the selection every week.That is definitely awesome and unique.The team was friendly, knowledgeable, and very generous about offering cheese to try. After tasting the daily samples and had made my selection, they were still happy to let me try other varieties.Their cheeses are cut to order. Meaning once you find a cheese you like, you can have them portion you a piece in a quarter, a third, half, or full pound.Also while sampling the cheese they had a preservative to try. It was so good and helped offset the cheese. Especially the one I didn’t care for.Another pleasant surprise is that they offer to track your purchases in a “Cheese Profile”. So once they ring you up at the counter, they can put your information in their system and keep track of what cheese you bought. They also have a note section in your “cheese profile” to make comments about cheeses you don’t like, or whatever other information you want to keep as a reminder.What I like so much about the shop is that it’s small, the interactions are personable, and the team seemed genuinely interested in cheese.Overall, a wonderful experience.I’d recommend you stop by and check out this cheese specialty store the next time you get a craving for cheese.🧀 I’m sure they’ll have you “cheeseing” 🙂 before you leave.

Only thing better than the staff is the cheese. Tried their taster tray with the five cheeses of the day and it was the perfect end to a busy Saturday. Try the truffle oil almonds and some fresh baguettes to go with your cheese.

Houston Dairymaids is one of the best cheese shops ever! I learned of them through the pairings they do with Saint Arnolds Brewery and had to visit the shop. Been a couple times and everyone is so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Plus they have extra accoutrements to go with your cheese and they keep track of what youve ordered so you know what youve bought before! Amazing!

This small local shop is really great. Love the complimentary cheese tasting offered to help you select what you want and the fact that they will keep a profile to help you make future purchases based on past selections. Their ricotta cheese is so good you could eat it plain with a spoon. (Super elevated in homemade ravioli and lasagna, though.)

Wow!! We got 8 different cheeses and they were amazing!! Every one of them!! You can 100% taste the difference between this cheese, and the ones you can get from a big retailer! The only issue is not knowing the complete selection of cheeses they have.. we got 8, but definitely would have gotten a ton more.. Hopefully covid is gone soon so we can start tasting again!

I loved them all, but we paired it down to 8.It is a gem hidden in a somewhat imposing neighborhood, but perfectly safe.Parking lot next door to their building and the gals working their really know their cheese!I will go back when we are near.

Fun, knowledgeable staff that enjoys not only the cheese, but the customers as well. They carry a good selection of all the bread, crackers, and fine meats that you need for a fun evening with friends or in your pajamas solo! The tasting menu is fun and lets you figure out if that bold blue or sharp cheddar should come home with you. Stop in, buy a bottle of wine, some cheese and enjoy the perks of adulting!

Extremely strict on covid regulations. Only six people allowed inside, no sampling, no dine in, no drinking. As someone who is curious about cheese and wanting to learn more I had about the same experience here as cluelessly browsing the cheese area in the grocery store. I think under normal circumstances this would be a really fun and educational experience, a good place to spend a few hours.

I dont know a lot about cheese...but these people do! Incredibly knowledgeable and hospitable. They remembered us and our preferences from 2 weeks prior. Dreaming of their cheeses till next weekend.

Houston Dairy Maids is a local treasure my only complaint is that they are not closer to my house! The selection and knowledge of the staff is always impressive. I enjoy the way that the wines are organized by types of cheeses would pair best. I have a hard time not going crazy on cheeses on a visit.If pre Thanksgiving shoppung be sure to get cheeses like the 15yr Hooks Cheddar they get one wheel of each year and the Rush Creek Reserve. Such a treat.

Lovely little hidden gem! They provide free cheese tastings of 5-6 their featured cheeses. We ended up purchasing three of the cheeses that we tried - fresh mozzarella, a French take on a hard cheddar, and a blue goat cheese. Cheeses are priced by the pound but they will cut them down to half, third, or quarter pounds. Reasonable prices for amazing cheeses! I will definitely be back.

I tell everyone I know to come here. The cheese tasting is such a fun experience that you cant get anywhere else in Houston. They have about a million to choose from (I think its actually like 200) and the staff are total pros and can help narrow it down to get you what you like. They also have crackers and bread, olives, jams... Many cheese boards enjoyed thanks to these guys.

Drove an hour to visit. We walked out with a brie, a cheddar and a Bleu. We were promptly greeted and put on a list for a tasting. All of the cheeses where amazing and the girl who did our flight was very knowledgeable and attentive. We will definitely make a trip up there again for any party or date night.

Best spot to get cheese in town. Tastings are always on offer and keep us trying new and different things. If you want old favorites, theyll keep a log of what youve purchased so you can reference it later. Theyre also great at pairing/recommendations if you give them a situation/recipe/flavor/texture youre looking for. Staff is always friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient.

This is a brilliant place if you enjoy cheese. Growing up I remember doing to real cheese shops where they would let you try cheeses and you went home with wonderful cheeses. Now days, Whole Foods is about the only place that comes to mind with great cheese. These ladies have a much broader selection.You can sample cheeses here, many are local. They also sell a variety of other high quality dairy products that cant be beat. I am so happy I found this place. Their truffle honey is amazing. Honestly everything is amazing here, and they will help you find what you desire. Amazing ladies.

Best place in Houston for quality, high end cheese. Imported and domestic cheeses plus other items like wine, oil, butter, crackers, etc. They have a daily tasting of 5 to 7 cheeses and the sampling never disappoints. Prices are on par with what you pay Kroger and better than what you pay at Central Market.

This place is simply a must stop if youre a cheese fan. We were welcomed right as we entered the door and guided to a tasting of six unique cheeses. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful. They also had a multitude of items to pair with cheeses, such as wine, nuts, oils, meats and fresh breads. If youre into cheese, check this place out.

Hands down, Houston Dairymaids is the best place in Houston to get cheese. The cheesemongers here know their product, and most importantly, they know how to store and serve it. Central Market and Specs Downtown have good cheese, but it spoils in cellophane. Houston Dairymaids have many cheeses you know and love, but youll be delighted to discover new favorites. I moved to Houston from France, and frankly this shop is the only store in Houston whose quality and selection rivals a good cheese shop in France. They also have good wines and other beverages to accompany their cheese--I would highly recommend their cider from Normandy.For all who have high standards and have been disappointed elsewhere, and for anyone who loves cheese, give this shop a try.
