I know nothing about painting. My friend sent me with a list of items to buy. The gentleman there was extremely helpful and walked me through explaining the paints, brushes and types of canvases I would need. Everyone was so helpful. Including helping me bring everything out to my car. The assortment is incredible. They have everything and my 5 year old daughter loved exploring. I’ll be back.

I grew up with Texas Art Supply and always felt welcomed to try new mediums. The staff has always been encouraging and helpful. After training in Equine Assisted Therapies, I have taught a miniature horse to paint with a brush in his mouth, as a child holds the canvas. We have proven Dr Temple Grandins theory of Interspecies Communication. Had the staff ever acted pretentious toward me, I never would have dared to try this new venture. Was ordering from poor quality hobby shops or online before finding out about TAS like a dummy. They have so many tools for my painting hobby! Staff are very helpful.

My wife is the artist in the family, but there is still plenty to enjoy for a dabbler such as myself. Its a good store in its own right, but I like it because it is old Montrose and there isnt too much of that left.

I mean this in the nicest way. It reminded me of a old classroom I loved as a kid. The vibe the ceilings the floor just was a nostalgia rush. Oh and they have a bunch of awesome art supplies check em out.

I love Texas Art Supply! I noticed the prices are so much cheaper than Michaels and Hobby Lobby on the exact same products even without a coupon. Theres more of a variety to choose from when it comes to paints and other art stuff. I can get lost in that store for hours!

I have been coming to Texas Art Supply for probably 20 years and am absolutely in love with this store. I always buy more things than I need because they are stocked with everything that you would need for any skill level from beginner to professional. Everything is always clean and organized and there is a huge selection of brands to choose from for each type of material. Staff is friendly and happy to answer questions you may have about certain products. If you love art, crafts, or anything in between I highly recommend you stop on in.

I went in to get a present for a kindergartners birthday and came out with presents for three other kids with birthdays a month out! Such great ideas inspired by their products. They also gave us paper remnants and scraps for home art projects for free. Its truly a place for professional artists, but also for parents looking for kid art projects. They gave us a student discount because my daughter, who is a student, was with me. So generous!

The best brick and mortar art supply in Houston. Many art supplies available. From individual sheets of fine art papers and individual pens to tubes of paint and paint brushes. Most items are a grade above what you will find at most of the big box store craft suppliers. They have student grade up to professional level supplies in paints and brushes and colored pencils both sold individually and in sets. Watercolors also.Sketching pencils and charcoals and pads of student to archival quality papers in various grades for pencil, ink, watercolors, pastels, charcoal, markers etc. Hard to find and items rarely available in a store are often available on the shelf. Texas art is a large, well stocked art supply house for the amateur and professional artist and they have just about everything. Friendly staff with good knowledge of the artist tools.

Has kid art supplies at very reasonable prices. Adult supplies are competitive in the more expensive brands. Employees are friendly and manager was on the ball with customer who refused to wear a mask. Common sense; if your disabled and cannot wear a mask for medical reasons please do curbside pickup. Dont scare the rest of us until more people are vaccinated. Manager asked them to leave and I agree with them.

Its expensive just like Jerrys is you can probably find the same supplies cheaper online but it helps to look at everything. The store is MASSIVE it has canvases, frames, arts and crafts, paint, pastels, novelty items, the list goes on! Some stuff is actually pretty cheap but dont expect big name brand stuff to be cheaper here, it wont be. They have single sheets of paper that are pretty big too but they didnt have the one size I needed so thats why its 4 starts but this is definitely bigger than most Jerrys Artaramas Ive seen. Overall, pricey but it has everything you need in one spot!

I always feel cool when someone asks what Im doing and I can say, oh, just running by Texas Art Supply to pick up a few things. Flashing my cool artsy smile! Truth is Im an artist want to be.BUT, Im on my way. I ran into a lady who read my mind......spray paint...you dont like it, or mess it up, spray over it!! Big return, not much effort! The guys that work there will help you out and not make fun of you or laugh out loud. There is so much to work with that there is something to tweak the artistic bone in everyone! Here are a couple of MY latest spray paint recycled objects. About ready to move on.

Everyone was helpful. We were able to get the items needed really quickly with the support from the staff. I was happy to get in and out. When there were 3 customers waiting they opened another line to make for a smoother transaction.

The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. They have a HUGE range of supplies. Probably one of the largest in Houston. I love coming in and wondering though the aisles. This is my first stop when searching for anything with a certain niche.

The staff was super courteous and helpful. Let us browse but were on hand if we needed any assistance. The only thing was that the aisles were a little bit too tight for a wheelchair so we ended up bumping into a few of the aisles. Otherwise it was a great experience. Hopefully they will consider making their aisles a little but more ADA friendly.

Awesome art store, great for college students and aspiring artists. Products ranging from any paints, pencils, markers, poster boards, etc. There are also products and coloring books to keep the kids entertained as well.

I left this place because they had specific art supplies that I needed for a watercolor virtual workshop that the other art store didnt have. The people working there were also very informative about specific art supplies and helped me find exactly what I needed. Overall I had a great experience and that people there are very friendly knowledgeable and good people overall that will take the time to help you even though they are busy or close to leaving. I just love the large variety of art supplies that they carry and the prices are very reasonable as well like when you compare them to other stores youre getting pretty much the same deal so its good.

A great store whos supply and prices never disappoint! YES: they accept teacher & student ID for great discounts!!! The whole store is awesome, clean, calming, and almost all the workers are super nice. Almost all. This is the 2nd time Ive gone in the past 2 months, and both times, my cashier (same guy) seemed to be in the worst mood.

Was really excited to visit this store but very disappointed about the service that was provided or should I say NOT provided. We were not greeted when we walked in and were followed and watched by one of the workers the entire time we were shopping. Needlessly to say I put everything I had in my hands back on the shelves and we walked out empty handed but not before I told the worker that she needed to work on her customer service skills. I would not recommend.

They have, by far, the largest selection of Moleskin writing notebooks in town.As well as a huge selection of other artistic and plane notebooks and journals.

Really lovely place if your looking for anything art related ! I was super happy to find out they carry the exact spray paints I was looking for and even more happier to know they had so many niche items I’ve been trying to find ! The guy at the counter was also very nice to me and I’m definitely shopping here again ! I even got a student discount which I didn’t know they did !

I enjoy sketching, and have done it intermittently over the years. Some months Ill sketch a lot, others not at all, but every single time I pick up the hobby again I come here, if only to pick up some pencils and a pad.Ive only ever been to this art supply store. I dont even know if there are any others. I cant say Ive ever left wanting more. The place is clean, the workers are friendly but also arent badgering you. Not to mention that youd be hard- pressed to not find what youre looking for. You could split the store in half and neither would go out of business.I dare anyone who enjoys making art to walk out of this store empty-handed.
