Punahou Auto Repair is now my go to shop. I drive for Uber and obviously require regular maintenance and service with wear and tear and the horrible roads on Oahu. Theyre always straightforward and willing to listen. Reasonable rates and quick with service if not busy. Theyll also be honest if they are and coming next morning is better. Highly recommended!

Honest guys, quick work. I went here for a safety check and they didnt charge me for the check because I failed for a faulty windshield wiper pump. Didnt even try to force me to get them to fix it. Other places charge just to initiate the safety check regardless of pass or fail. I highly recommend these guys.

Great for obvious easy repairs. But harder things, I will have to get other shops to do after first paying them. I come and go but they are sometimes a good choice, but.. Maybe scammed me, (?) don’t like certain kinds of people, or something, or they just are not that great. Again and again, seem to guess wrong cause of problems and give expensive option of possible fixes. Yes they couldn’t fix problems that seem not too hard. Other places fix them after they failed. Or I got charged close to $1000, and the problems still not fixed. They can do some simple things, but complex things, forget about it in my opinion. Nice folks. Quick usually.

Punahou Auto Service is the best one stop automotive repair shop on island. I have patronized many different auto repair shops over the years and Punahou Auto Service is nonetheless the best I ever seen and experienced! I recently stopped in to have my alternator replaced for my Chevrolet Suburban. I met with shop manager Won who was very knowledgeable and professional. He immediately meet with me and discussed options and even offered to do the repair the same day! A few hours later I left with a new alternator installed and paid a price that no one else could beat! I highly recommend Punahou Auto Service for your automotive repair needs!

Such a nice group of people, very accommodating and looked out for ways to save money on repairs. I would suggest them to anyone who wants a trusting and friendly mechanic or a quick place for a safety inspection.

The AC compressor on my 4runner seized. I called several shops to get a quote. This was not a cheap repair. However the guys at Punahou Auto Repair took the extra 5 minutes on the call with me to explain why the repair is expensive, the work that needed to be done, and how they would need to do these repairs to ensure the AC works properly. Another shop had quoted much cheaper but after a 2nd phone call to that shop I realized they didnt include the additional things that needed to be done and didnt bother explaining it upfront. Because of their professional explanation I chose to have Punahou Auto Repair perform my AC repairs. A few months later and I couldnt be more pleased with how cold my AC is blowing now. Will be going back to these guys for future repairs on my 4runner.

They fixed my car in a few hours without an appointment. Very fast and convenient, but definitely overcharged for parts. My car had a blown fuse in the blower motor, and required a Import Direct Ignition 4 Terminal Blower Motor Resistor Part # 30-0131. We were charged $175.46 for this part, when it costs $63 dollars at OReilly next door. Nearly 300% the price. They also charged $10 for waste disposal even though I took the old part home.

If there is a negative star rating that would be my rate for the safety check service they provide. The guy was unprofessional. He went outside of their office when I’m still paying my fee without saying anything that the transaction is done. I waited for him to come back inside their office but he did not, so I came out and check him outside, saw him talking to someone, later I found out that the process is done. When I saw the safety check sticker it is not properly installed the other side of the sticker was outside of the metal holder. Good thing I was able to remove the sticker and properly aligned it to the holder. Will not come back to this shop. Worst safety check experience.

I try to get 3 prices always for my truck Punahou is always one of the better prices.they have kept $$$ in my pocket and my island truck running.this shop has been around forever for a reason.

Ask for Malcolm he’s the guy! He was professional and honest. I brought my car in thinking that I might have to replace the rotors because I’ve been hearing noise every time I brake. He checked and told me everything’s fine it was just rust building up on the rotors and the noise should be gone within a few days. And he’s right! He didn’t charge me anything and told me if anything in the futre just walk in early morning around 7. I sure will!

Very good and fast service for safety check

My 2013 Smart car had 31,212 miles on it. The break tattle tell stared making noise.-I took it to Firestone Complete Care, They Said all I needed was front pads, that the back breaks and all my rotors were fine. They said the could not do the work because special tools are needed.-I called Midus, I told them all I need is front break pad replaced. The told me in order to get break pads replaced, it is mandatory by their company that I also replace rotors and flush hydraulic.-I bought some Top of the Line pads at OReillys thinking I would have to do it myself. Then I drove pass Punahou Auto and thought: why not, so I stopped.-I told them all of the above. They evaluated my breaks. Charged me for only labor. And I was in and out within 2 hours.-Fair price for work done. nice people, good conversation, did NOT try to up sale or con.-

At first I thought they were very professional and honest but when I got there to pay I realized they were charging me 100$ for a safety check which they hadnt even done yet and another 100 for an engine diagnostic (which I didnt need cause I didnt have any check engine lights), Im not going back there

I pulled in at the Repair shop. Asked the mechanic or the shop owner I want to get safety and he already get negative comment on my aftermarket exhaust. He stated is too loud. Poor customer service very rude. Definitely no aloha. I advised him I do have reconstruction paperwork for the exhaust and it written there in the paperwork. Then try to get inside my car. I was very shocked I told him forget it. It ruined my day...period!!!!!!

This is where I go for my safety check because its close to my work. Mr. Ho will charge the basic fee which is $25. I go when they open the safety check at 8 am and they close the safety check at 11am and reopen at 1pm. If you go when they reopen, expect to wait a long time because this place is smack in the middle of town. But one thing for sure, you wont get ripped off here.

Honest people. I asked for advise on mounting my license plates and they found the most cost effective way. First impressions are important and I was impressed.
