Great store had everything I was looking for and if they didnt have it they could get it for me.

I dont say this lightly: Mainbrew is definitely a 10/10 shopping experience. They have a great assortment of products and knowledgeable, helpful staff that go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. They wont BS you and try to sell you stuff for the sake of sales; if they think you dont need something, they will tell you. Ive only had positive experiences here, and I recommend it to anyone who needs supplies or help with brewing!

Just our closest homebrew store that Ive been coming to for years. The trip today was to spend all the gift cards Ive received over the past couple of years on beer and mead.Their bottle shop has a fantastic selection to choose from and a substantial variety of English and western European brews.Its honestly the best option within a 30 mile radius from homebrew supplies and single can and bottle purchases.

Everyone is so helpful and nice! We’ve been brewing our own beer for at least 12 years and never made a bad one yet thanks to main brew!

My wife got lost in the bottle room while I looked at gear. Lots of great beer to pick up and greater malt selection than my old spot. Will definitely be back soon!

Great supply, and cool owner, but as a customer of over 10 years, I will no longer shop here. The new employees are as bright and useful as a brick but as rude as Oprah on her period. Sad, but dont shop here, Ive since gone to Amazon and they dont have the same problems, just a few days for shipping.

Nice group of lads here. Helpful and knowledgeable when you have questions. Their hops are a little pricey, but a great selection on what is trending as far as pellets and leaf. Once finished shopping, their pub is a good stop to get beer ideas.

This applies for both fermenting beer wine and cider is just amazing and the staff is outstanding. I have never been in there when the staff wasnt ready to help in any way they can and wherever so pleasant. The fact that they have a sit down Deli next door doesnt hurt either.

When I first started brewing, I had very little clue how to brew. Kevin at Main Brew took me step by step on how to brew. My first brew was an IPA, Kevin gave me the recipe. It turned out amazing and super easy.Main Brew is organized and clean. The employees are knowledgeable, but more than anything, they are nice and helpful (often not found at a brew store). Awesome place to home brew supplies and a growler fill!

Love this brew store. Very nice staff and the selection/prices are great. I moved to a part of town where its hard to get supplies so I started ordering online from them. Delivery was incredibly fast and everything was packaged very well. 4 stars because 2 of my grain bags had a rip and ended up on the bottom of the box. Luckily both the grains were going into the same batch so it didnt cause too much trouble. Thanks for all your hard work!!!

Main Brew has a great selection of grain, yeast, equipment, and cold beer ready to drink! However, I went to this establishment to buy ingredients for a 3 gallon batch and was at one point talking to an employee about the diversity of grain and yeast, the conversation got pretty in depth, and we talked a while, roughly 20 minutes. That is until the owner or manager (dont know which, but my gut says owner) comes over and right in front of us (no discretion at all!) basically says forget this guy, he is only buying a 3 gallon batch worth of grain and one packet of yeast... so stop talking to him. We got orders to fill at this point the worker is clearly in trouble, hangs his head low, and gives me the cold shoulder from thereafter whereas prior we were really clicking, he was imparting vast knowledge on me, I was very grateful, and really digging Main Brew. So basically I feel that this place has great selection, great staff... but unfortunately a money hungry, lets move lots and lots of grain, but disregard community, and disregard the art of the brew type of boss. The soulless feeling of “all that matters is the money” emanating from the owner hit me hard and has been really bothering me for weeks now. I wont name any of the other brew shops around town but at these other places I have always felt a part of a community that appreciated the art of the brew first and was happy to make money only second. Keep Portland Weird, keep people like the boss man at Main Brew from bastardizing our diverse and vibrant brew community where we look out for each other, converse with one another, learn together, and grow together. I partly came to this city for the beer culture, years ago. It has since grown vastly which is awesome but let us please push back against those who want to rob it of its genuine worth and corporatize our beer!

This place is always great. Ive ran into a bit of snobbery at other places and found the staff extremely helpful, knowledgable and friendly. Incredible selection of hops and yeast. Really good prices as well. For the cherry on top, if you sign-up for their membership you get a $5 growler fill on your birthday!

My buddies and I brew and for the most part use these guys. Their information and helpfulness in explaining and recommending is first class. Their prices and selection might not always be the best though. This new location is much better than the old Main Street (hence the name) location.

One of the best places to get your supplies. Kevin the owner has forgotten more in one night of sleep than most brewers have known their entire life. From the very first time we were in their store(old location) these folks relentlessly explained everything in detail, and in print as to how we will brew our first batch of beer. And I turned out perfect. BE SURE AND FREQUENT THE RESTAURANT THAT IS PART OF THE BUSINESS AS WELL. GREAT FOOD! Cant say enough good things, except THANK YOU!

Best place to go if you need mead making advice, super friendly and massive selection of hard to find beer. A word of advice though, avoid this place between 3:30pm and 5:30pm, thats when the tap room they opened - ABV Public House - has their happy hour and parking sucks. Youll most likely end up walking from the next building over because Impact Signs and the extraordinarily lame indoor shooting range reserve a bunch of parking spaces...if you do try to park in one of the spaces theyve reserved youll be greeted by some of the most delightfully wretched parking trolls ever.

Awesome selection of beers and brewing supplies. This place has the best customer service Ive ever experienced. Their employees are all genuinely happy and their culture is regardless whether youre spending $10 or $300, theyll talk beer and brewing with you all day and treat you the same regardless. Mainbrew has carved out quite the niche in what would otherwise be considered a poor location but their niche is an entire market of beer lovers west of Portland who may not want the hassle of driving into the city for great beer...its somewhat genius when you think about it. Theyve got a permanent customer here.

Was gearing up for a big brew day and stopped by to grab my ingredients and supplies for the next day. I go to mainbrew to buy all my beer-making supplies. They have a good selection of malt extracts in liquid and powder form, as well as a pretty large selection of fresh hops and hop pellets - a lot more than Steinbarts in Portland! They are extremely friendly, and very helpful and you are never lacking for customer service. They also have beer and wine tastings at certain times, but you will want to call and check the times of the tastings.Also, next door is a really awesome restaurant and tavern, so be sure and check out ABV public house while youre here!

Very helpful staff with the right insight to help you get the results you expect

These guys are awesome! Seriously friendly staff, which is more than willing to help. The store is clean and well organized. On thursday nights there are beer tastings (awesome!). There is a well stocked cold case full of very carefully selected bottles, I think of it as the danger zone, as it is the easiest way I know of to empty your bank account, but it wouldnt happen if they didnt have such great beers. The store has great variety, selling everything from kombucha making supplies to hot sauce.

Solid selection, knowlegible staff. Its great they have self serve for those who want it, but when I go to places like my home brew shop I like to give them my recipe, let them put it together while I browse, discuss beer with staff and other patron. Not work. Unfortunatly, this place makes you feel like a lazy degenerate if you walk in and want the staff to pull your order for you. I have even been told I have to pull my own when I asked for assistance.

Best home brew shop in the Portland Metro area in my opinion. Doug is one of the most helpful home brewers and he never got frustrated with my novice questions when I getting started. They have a lot knowledge on top many recipes that I can compare mine against. Love that their warehouse location has good brews to buy plus a rotation free beer tasting every time I come in. Staff is much more useful and friendly than those guys out at F.H.

Went for dinner tonight with my neighbors. We were told a half hour wait, but we did not care. 45 minutes later I asked the hostess how much longer we could expect and she told us at least 20 more minutes. Finally after one hour and fifteen minutes of waiting we, a group of four, were taken to a two top. The three of us present, one could not wait the entire time and had to rejoin us, put two of the small tables together. We were immediately berated by a young lady that claimed to be a general manager. Her rude demeanor and confrontational behavior was shocking in the least. She wanted to segregate our group into different tables. She felt more obliged to argue with us than serve us. We asked to speak to her manager, but she claimed to be the only manager. We asked for the owners information but she refused telling us to get it from the hostess. I will be contacting Kevin tomorrow to discuss this as I am certain any business owner would be disgusted by this. I have purchased kegs and brought business partners to the restaurant before but may never again.

Ive been to several brewer supply shops in the area and this is the best of them. Great selection, good prices and a fridge full of good beer. They also have a rotating supply of beers to fill your growlers.

Did business with him ONCE. Never again. I wrote Kevin an email disagreeing with something on his web site. Instead of being respectful, he told me thats your opinion and nothing more. Very rude!I visited his store once. Went in to buy some yeast. Virtually nothing had a price on it. I asked him why? He said to ask him if I want to know. Seriously? How about if stores did that? Just scan everything. We arent going to tell you the price. No Kevin, Im not going to ask you how much every cost will cost.Of the few items with a price tag, he is more expensive than Above The Rest, and another brewery in my hometown. Much higher. I asked him why the prices were so high. I expected an answer telling me his shipping or rent went up. No. Instead he told me if I dont like the prices, go somewhere else. RUDE.My entire was not very long, but during my stay, he came across very rude, arrogant, and incredibly rude. His attitude was essentially I know more about brewing than ANYBODY else. If I disagreed, he had no problem telling me I was wrong.I have gone to Brew Brothers many times and the owners have told me that numerous customers have complained about how rude, condescending, and arrogant Kevin was to them. That is my experience.For those who love and worship Kevin, its your money, give him all of your business. He was so incredibly rude and arrogant with me that I will never give him a dime of business again. What an ass.Its fine if you dont agree with your customers, but never tell them if go to somewhere else. Kevin, you are the ONLY business owner to tell me I should take my business somewhere else. I did, and I also let others knows how VERY RUDE you are.A final point I will mention. Ive met a handful of people who stand up for Kevin and love him, but they also had the same rude, arrogant, sour look he has. Rude people like him defend each other.

The team here is well knowledged and of assistance. As an aspiring amateur brewer they made me feel comfortable asking what may I feel may be the simplest of questions. They do growler fills and are adjacent to ABV as well. This place is a hidden gem in North Hillsboros business parks.

Ok, I read the one star review and can only assume that he either went to another homebrew shop and got them confused, or he works for one of the other ones in Portland and is worried folks will travel to Hillsboro just to buy there.I first started brewing back in 1997. I bought the initial equipment from some place in Tigard because I didnt know Main Brew was nearby. I have bought nowhere else ever since.Kevin is the most knowledgeable brewmeister I have even met. He is infinitely patient with everyone - seriously the guy is a rock. Ive watched his place be filled to the brim and he never was once short with anyone. Ever. And Ive been going there 17 years.Most conversations with him is usually me having a vague idea of what I want to brew, and he runs with that - walking me through exactly what grains, extracts, hops, and yeast I need to do the job. I have never made a bad batch when I follow his lead. Hell point you to the right equipment to do the job, depending on how meticulous you want to be. He wont try to sell you anything you dont need.Seriously, the guy loves his job and it shows. He is a Beer God.
