Very friendly and helpful staff. I was attempting to locate a book and could not find it on the shelf. The lady working at the customer service desk quickly found the book I was looking for unfortunately I dont recall her name. Very excellent selection of books to choose from highly recommend this business.....

First time visiting this location, and was definitely impressed. The staff was excellent. The young lady that assisted me, searched until she found the book I was looking for, and was quick too offer her assistance if the need should arise. I will definitely be returning.

I miss the old layout, but I guess thats because Ive been going to this store since I was 15, when they first opened in 1998.It has a nice environment, with the pleasant aroma of coffee and a hint of wood pulp, from the new paper of thousands of books. Theres a place to sit at the cafe, and benches in the magazine section. They also have a great kids section, that actually feels kid friendly.Even on their busiest days, theres room to browse, but my favorite time to go is during the morning on weekdays, when you can pretty much get the isles to yourself.I tend to avoid the on sale books especially during busy times, due to their placement in the main aisles, as this area is more trafficked, and Im socially anxious.B&N is the best place in the area, if youre desperate for a new book, or just want to enjoy browsing for something interesting. Sometimes I just enjoy the feeling of being surrounded by so many books.They have regular sales, in order to clear stock, but its generally slightly aged titles or novels that underperformed. There are certainly good reads among these tables.Also love that they highlight employee favorites, which have led me to several good books over the years.Given the convenience, the prices are higher than online retailers. You can also save a lot with online resellers of used books.. which gets you a few books for the same price of one new on at B&N.Still, if youre a book person, nothing beats a trip to the bookstore.

First off I wanna say the employees are super nice and helpful. All you entitled people out there that get upset over something so stupid. Just keep your mouth shut. They are there to help customers not be a verbal punching bag.

We think this Barnes and Noble because we dont feel rushed to make a decision. The employees greet you and then let you take your time picking out a book. We have spent a couple hours walking around this store looking at all the toys, trinkets, and extras that they carry. Its the perfect spot to gift shop. They carry something for everyone.

Love this place, my daughters will spend hours here. It feel like going on an adventure trying to find something new.

The gentleman in the self improvement section was able to help me find a book to help with a loss of a close friend.

Not as large a manga section as I remember and definitely not enough BL and GL for my liking but theres plenty to look at here! I could honestly look for hours at all of it! The wonderful smell of coffee and books mingling together just made the trip here even more wonderful. I definitely recommend coming here if youre looking for manga, or just about anything else!

Visited the Cafe and cruised the store for horror and occult. Was pleasantly surprised by the increase in tarot and oracle stock this time. Hoping its not just a seasonal boost. Good visit.

I love bookstores but I dream of the day this company is bought out by Amazon. An empty parking lot is more welcoming than this store. Literally the rudest bunch of employees Ive ever had the unfortunate displeasure to meet. I loathed my experience here so much that I contacted my publisher about never having any of my novels placed in this particular store. You know how you can block people on Facebook? I wish I could block this store from my reality so I wouldnt have to see it every time I drove to Hickory.

I am above pleased with this store. I honestly couldnt believe I found a book Id been searching for for awhile. Amazon did have a copy, but it wasnt anywhere near as aesthetically beautiful as the one I found in Barnes & Noble. Im actually going to go back and purchase a few more. I took my 7-year-old cousin and she had the time of her life looking at the 📚 and other items for her age. We will definitely be going back soon. I was so busy watching her have fun that I forgot to pick up 🔖which is the only thing I went in to get besides ☕.

Store easy handicap access with snack area in front by door for people waiting for shoppers or just sitting to read. No other seats available. Teaching and visuals on one side, creative display of childrens books at end, and resources on other side. All fiction, biographies, topical books are in middle with too many sales tables. I saw 2 staff available on a weekday (Friday)to assist customers other than cashier. In general, a pleasant store with many extras to purchase for gifts or educational or entertainment needs.

I just love this place. Its such a comfort to smell coffee and have a book at your finger tips. The Employees are always nice and help find or order what you need/want. Ooh and the bathrooms are super clean 😃

What has happened to treating customers with some respect. I have always been treated good visiting the coffee Cafe in B&N in Hickory NC until today. The barista was not friendly and almost to the point of being rude. No recognition that I was waiting to place an order, not helpful, no heres your order or thank you and come again. Im surprised she didnt throw it at me. I will not visit there again when she is working. If you dont like your job go find another one.

The staff are always so helpful and kind! They almost always know how to help. The only time someone didnt know the answer to one of my questions, she came with me to ask someone else! She did this so she would know for next time. Such a wonderful person!

My friend wanted a Carpentry book (They had it!), and I went to browse. Large selection of periodicals. Sweet toy section ( I was surprised!), and friendly, helpful staff. If you want to have a coffee and read, go there. Its relaxing if youre a reader

There is nothing quite like a bookstore. Its a great place no matter who owns it B&N is no exception. You might pay a little more but you cant replace the feel of a real book in your hands.

This place has everything. Of course a huge book selection. Not as much in paperback like I would prefer but yep they got it all. Employees are very helpful and friendly. Not to busy for the most part. They have a book club on certain days. I would highly recommend stopping here. Edit; just wanted to add the awesome vinyl section. Huge variety. Love old records. Brought back a lot of memories. If you love vinyl you need to come check it out.

Everything in this store was very tidy and well laid out. The employees were were polite and helpful doesnt matter how many questions you ask there are always there to help you out and not give you a dirty look or any kind of attitude. Would highly recommend going here for any book lover

Number one in book sales this week apparently! Its easy to see why. They are the prime example of what a trip into a Barnes & Noble should be, from the friendliness of the staff, to the quaint, rustic, calm aesthetic of the overall store. Its very kept up as well. Nothing needs to be updated, just kept up and maintained. Dont ever change guys.

You know, if you got a library card at your local library, (or just used Thriftbooks.com) and brewed your own Folgers Black Silk at home, youd never miss this overpriced place. How does it even still exist in 2021?

I love the self help section. Plenty of tarot decks to choose from. Information on magic, tarot, witchcraft, and gemstones. Things Im interested in knowing more about. They have all kinds of books and projects that are family friendly as well as a section just for the kids. They also have a coffee and snack shop. Looked clean and smelled heavenly if you like coffee. Stop by sometime. You wont be disappointed unless everyone goes at once and the stock runs low. Friendly and helpful staff. I have enjoyed my trip each time I go.

Has a big section of tools for learning other languages. Why do much shelf space being wasted on Moochelle Obamination books? Nobody wants her book.

My daughter wanted to spend her birthday at Barnes and Noble. Weve been before without any issues. Today we were immediately accosted about not wearing masks. I calmly told them that because of health issues we didnt wear them. We were told wear them or youll have to leave. So they effectively ruined the one thing my daughter was looking forward to on her birthday. Good job.

Stopped by looking for something specific but didnt know what section it would be in. I asked the female employee at the desk if she could help me. She looked up the ibsn number I had and took me right to the section that had the book I needed. Thanks so much for the great customer service.

They were 100% awesome I did the curbside pickup on a Christmas present for my son-in-law and even greater they had it in stock but I picked it out paid for it couldnt go to the next morning to get it which was cool they still had it and said that they would hold it up to like 7 days which I only just needed to the next morning but that was awesome and they were so kind brought it out you know were safe had gloves mask slipped it through the window everything was great and my son-in-law was tickled so pink I mean and every other color possible he literally could not wait and it was wanting that book so bad and his wife my daughter had chose to get him something different and every year Im always like so what is it he wants real bad this year so this year it was this book so I got it and he was so tired Christmas day but he said I dont think I can sleep I need to read so thank you very much ❣️

The new layout is kind of dysfunctional in some sections, making customers have to loop around rather than snake through isles (which is probably corporates idea of making customers look at more but it’s really just inconvenient) however the associates and the store are great. The store stays clean and organized, I’m always asked if I need help, and I love that they continue to enforce COVID-19 restrictions while other retailers have seemingly given up or never tried.

Ive shopped with this book store for 15 years now, but never again. I was wearing my mask, because its sort of the law around here. Some stores seriously enforce the policy, and some dont. I was in here and decided to buy a cup of ice coffee. The people at the Starbucks told me to not let down my mask accept to drink a sip. Then while shopping, I had no idea where to find my books, so I asked a sweet girl where they were, and she helped me. Then came along a manager, (or so it seemed) and told me to stay 6 feet apart. Never again.

Great experience. The store had exactly what we needed and it was easy to find. The staff member we checked out with was nice and very professional.

I enjoy working word search and I have always been able to find large print books there when I couldnt find them anywhere else. Although we have to drive approximately 35 miles to purchase them.

The store is good overall except for the girl that runs the cafe. Too loud and makes the whole store hear her personal business.

This place is one of my favorite places to be. Some days I’ll just come and pick up “Julius Cesar” and read Indian style on the floor. The employees are very nice! As you can tell, I am a big bookworm. And if you are too, I highly encourage this Barnes & Nobel specifically!

Love this Barnes and Noble! They’ve really adapted over time to change in tastes (like expanding the manga section!!) and even in a pandemic, people are bustling to buy books there. I do like that they’ve limited capacity to protect shoppers during the pandemic.

Had a great book signing experience with Robert Beatty! Only real complaint I had was how hot it got in the store, but it WAS full of people for a long time.

Walked in with no mask, my daughter had a mask. She was looking for a book so i was just walking around. I was told to put on a mask. I simple said i would leave. As i was looking for my daughter two store employees started to harrass me about not having a mask. Then they threatened me with calling the law. Way to go barnes and noble, i hope other book stores will put yall out of business. Having your employees to harass a customer for not wanting to wear a mask. Well i will never be back

Still my favorite bookshop to date. Ive never had a problem here everyone is always so nice and their selection of books is great.

Long time customer (5 years) of this location. Tonight I came to the coffee shop to purchase a drink and dessert. With one customer in front of me, it took 15 minutes to receive my order (while standing at the register area). After I received my purchase, I sat at a table labelled with a sign requesting customers limit their stay to 30 minutes. After exactly 25 minutes, the manager tapped me on the shoulder and shouted that I was only allowed to sit there for 30 minutes. This startled me because I had headphones on and am not accustomed to being poked in public. The manager proceed to loudly chastise an elderly gentleman and people at several other tables. This rude behavior toward customers is unacceptable.

The staff here are very friendly. My wife and I always visit when we come back into town.

The store is always immaculate, has a large selection of books, media, toys and more. The downside is that everything is 20-40% more than Amazon.

I just want to thank Barnes & Noble for being opening and having Wifi. I had a dentist appt in the area and finished right before 9am and my girls had their zoom meetings at 9am. Being 10mins from the store we stopped in, got their laptop/tablet out, able to do their meeting with the teachers and did some of their lessons. The gentleman at the door was very kind to point out the tables out and the lady at the cafe was very sweet as well. We just wanted to say Thank you cause I was running around trying to find a spot that had wifi, was peaceful and we could get a snack so a 8 & 9 year old could learn. THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU.

I have shopped here for the past three years and I never leave disappointed in regard to customer service. There are times when they do not have particular books, but you can always order them through their online store at home or at the location itself. I went in the other day to try and find a book for my fiance because his birthday is next week. I had three people help me look for the perfect gift, even though they were not very familiar with the genre I was looking into. I just appreciate the time and effort. Thank you for a good experience.

I went to Barnes and Noble on Friday, August 14 in the morning to get someone to help me with my new Nook.I had mask on and walked up to Customer Service to ask for help. The woman first told me I could not approach the counter which was obvious.The woman then told me SHE could not touch my Nook. Finally she put gloves on and said I KNOW it is your charger. The charger was new too.Then She told me loudly I did not know how to turn on.Later, my friend and I went to front to pay for our purchases and she yelled CAN YOU NOT READ THE SIGN? Apparently they were checking people out in the coffee shop.We purchased over $60 of books today. What we should have done is lay the books down and walk out of the store.This virus is making us all upset, but common courtesy would help us get through this.

Love this store! Good selection in every genre of books. Always have some good stuff on discount. Toy section with some really unique things and lots of games. They reduced the amount of movies they sell but still have a good selection. They also sell records now. Small coffee shop inside and a few places to sit. Good parking and easy to get around inside the store.

When this bookstore first opened I was absolutely delighted, Ive loved to read since I learned in first grade...I would go to Barnes and Noble almost every weekend and browse for hours through all the shelves..when nook came out I was beside myself, couldnt wait to get one, then few years later my eyes started getting bad and replaced old nook with largest Samsung Nook tablet, was a godsend because Im losing vision in right eye now and cant read regular books and my nook was my way of helping me through the really rough times after my father and then eldest brother died and my husband developed COPD and had heart attack...I had almost 180 books on my nook, then suddenly something crazy happened and all books except for 20 are no longer downloaded...my husband and I are elderly and retired and in bad health and not supposed to go out during this pandemic except during emergencys, like doctor visits and pharmacy visits and to buy groceries...have one close friend who understands our position and was willing to help, was actually going to get me a new largest Samsung nook tablet, only to find out that they no long carry any nooks worth buying and all are small and impossible for me to read....we live very meager lives and can no longer afford wifi and my friend thought since my nook is almost 4 years old would be better to get new one and thought that Barnes and Noble would help him to change everything over...once again a shock to find out they no longer service them either...sounds like bad business to sell a product and give absolutely no help or service and worse business to forget about the elderly out there who have eye trouble like myself and completely depended on their larger nooks in order to read....Barnes and Noble used to have best and not knowledgeable salespeople and best customer service, now they have become nothing more than a over expensive bad joke....has really changed for the worst..

Unhappy because they were not requiring all customers to wear masks it leave. Do not want to return there. The clerk that we spoke to was not supportive or helpful. Half of the people did not have masks on.

I love the atmosphere in Barnes & Noble. The aroma of Starbucks is such a welcomed aroma. There are chairs and tables to drink your coffee or food. There are big comfy chairs to sit and read a book or magazine. Books abound everywhere in categories unlimited. There is a special section in the back of the store for children. Little tables and chairs for reading and maybe chatting. Very friendly and helpful staff. I would highly recommend them.

Enjoyed my visit, even if I didnt find the book I was looking for in stock. They did offer to order it for me, though!
