Ever since the move to mostly self checkout, service has been terrible. Workers are stressed/frustrated, there are no efficiencies put in place, yet alone ones to improve the customer experience (ex: having select self checkouts for under 20 items), and a “quick run to the grocery store” isn’t realistic any longer - it’s taken me an hour to get less than 10 items the last two times I’ve been in. General manager doesn’t care, store cleanliness has gone down, and there are never hand baskets when you walk in. I’ll be going elsewhere moving forward. Gave an extra star for the workers who, for the most part, truly do want to help but often can’t because of the system.

I would give this Kroger a ZERO Star if possible! THEY CLEARLY HAVE RODENTS!!!! I went to pick up some bread, only to be startled by not just one, not two, but MORE THAN TEN MICE 🐁 under and in the bread loads on their shelves! ABSOLUTELY Disgusting!!! After walking to the customer service counter, which was completely empty -no one on duty, I got the attention of a cashier on the self checkout area and explained I needed to see the STORE MANAGER, I waited for about ten minutes until the store manager came to me, I explained the situation with the mice in the bread isle, THE STORE MANAGER BRUSHED ME OFF AND I QUOTE TOLD ME “THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AS THE WEATHER WAS GETTING COLDER AND MICE 🐁 NATURALLY COME IN AROUND THIS TIME OF THE SEASON! I was absolutely appalled and disappointed to say the very least!!! I WILL NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN! EVER!!!!!!! This place is super gross and it’s definitely a management issue, management has 💯 the worst customer service. CORPORATE KROGER NEEDS TO STEP IN AND CORRET THIS LACK OF MANAGEMENT AND THE RODENT ISSUE!!!!!

I shopped at this store for a decade and Im appalled at the state it is in. When I visited last Tuesday the first thing I noticed was a rancid smell that permeated the entire store.The second thing I noticed was how filthy the floors were, and then I noticed how filthy and disorganized everything else was. The freezers also felt like they werent cold enough, perhaps power problems??? To be clear: I dont blame the employees. This is clearly a management issue. I will never return to this location. For a recently renovated store it sure felt like a mess of hot, fetid garbage.

There are consistently lines that go to the back of the store and take 15-20 minutes to get through. It is not an issue of the store being busy, but not enough lanes being open. Frequently there is only 1 self check out lane open, even though it would only take one additional employee to staff another lane and this would make the line go significantly quicker. The store is also poorly stocked much of the time. The Meijer about a mile away does not have these issues.

Saw Remy from Ratatouille in the cereal aisle, had a good laugh and remembered fond memories of buying groceries in a clean Kroger at 12 and Campbell. Best bet is to go to Meijer on 8 or one of the other local grocers up Hilton and John R.

This is the second time I have been in the store before the posted closing time of customer service. Both times the staff has been extremely rude. Today I was hatefully told that the customer service desk was closed. When asked when they would open back up again the reply was hateful and sarcastic, and was told we will not be opening today. Had to ask if they would open tomorrow to find out when they would be opening again. Will never return.

Absolutely terrible, expect to be here for at least an hour. doesn’t matter when you go the store will be completely empty and they will close all the self checkout lines except for one tiny little section and have one worker manning the entire store. Pay the people to show up.

This place has an absolute horrible selection, and when I asked a manager if they could start stocking something that I would buy very regularly, I was told that its not there problem that they dont have what Im looking for. Then when I clarified I was just asking if they could start stocking it, I was told that they cant stop stupid stuff for random people. I used to shop here regularly. I will never be back!

Not bad in terms of what you can find but probably the worst service I’ve ever consistently experienced. They usually only have self check out open and they only open 4 at a time so a line forms through the whole store. I only come here for emergencies cause it’s next to my house but Avoid this place at all costs until they fix it.

Bottle return is awful. They love selling returnables but bottle return area is atrocious.

Compared to many other area Krogers this one is very clean and fairly large. The parking lot was even clean with very few baskets outside cart corrals. It has spacious aisles and was very well stocked. I was able to get every dale item for which I was searching, which I frequently find difficult in other stores.

Typically 15+ person lines, improper staffing. Usually no carts. Deli counter shuts down at random times. The ppl dont like to slice meats, only give you pre-sliced.Almost always out of salami

I wish I could give no stars. Lines consistently long with only one nom, self checkout lane open. Cashiers dont know how to step it up or do their job half the time. One actually spilled my fresh fish on the scanner and did nothing about it, getting the rest of my groceries fishy. If I had not already stood in line for 35 minutes, I would have considered that a highlight. Dont go here unless you want to die slowly.

This Kroger can get really busy at times. Their produce is usually pretty good but not a huge selection. Great wine and beer aisle. Polite and helpful staff. Biggest issue is how busy it gets and out of stock items.

Its great - for me! Anything on sale here I always check the expiration date before purchasing. They frequently sell stuff at a discount thats already expired, i.e. snack foods. Fine with me, but others may wanna check to see the expiration date, if it hasnt been rubbed off lol.

I normally try to defend this Kroger but when you consistently get bad customer service its hard to give them credit. Tried to get a price adjustment on a sale item that I was charged full price on but the customer service department was going to be closed for a week. If i needed a price adjustment I would have to get in the mile long line at the register...smh.

Unkempt and smells funny. They are constantly understaffed so it takes a good 30 minutes to cash out since only 1 of the 3 self checkout stations are ever open. Gets worse at busy times. Hire more people

I have been sent away while trying to use u.s. currency to pay because they told me if theyve had too much of the currency which is he legal also I have seen mice in their store and apparently they dont know how to use a calculator so when their machines are down and you only have cash they refuse service to you

This Kroger location is awesome! The employees are helpful, the prices are cheap, and they have fresh items, and it is the closest kroger near me!

I have ordered their grocery pick up many times, always giving them the benefit of the doubt that this time will be better. I constantly get the wrong thing, or they make the weirdest substitutions (oftentimes I dont get the chance to review and then it says on the receipt no response). Its not a pleasant shopping experience inside the store either (often entire aisles out of stock...), so I wont be ordering from or shopping here anymore and cant recommend it!

Constantly have problems with sale items not ringing up on sale produce a lot of times isnt very good the morning shift seem to be the only helpful employees day shift wants to argue over items that should have rung up on sale this place is quickly going downhill

A manager at the Hazel Park Kroger location terminated a 69 year old woman due to her contacting Human Resources over missing pay for hours worked. Why shop at an establishment that has no regards to elderly workers?

Nothing to wipe your cart down with. COVID-19 is still alive and well. And everybody just grabbing a cart like nothing happening out here. It’s going to take people you love to start catching Covid before stores and people start moving correctly.

Been going to this Kroger for some years now and it just keeps getting worse. Rather than take the difference out of my coinstar receipt, I was handed cash at a u-scan that didnt take cash then had another customer step in front of me in line at a register.Never going back to this location and I suggest you stop going as well.

Always a long line when checking out, your trip ends up being longer than expected. Normal only see one cashier working

I give this review for the managers at this location. Severely understaffed and instead of lifting a finger to help the extremely long checkout lines, they call over the intercom for more baggers to the front. Shameful. I’ll drive over to the next town for the :30+ I’ll wait here.

Today I shopped & used the Self Checkout. As I finished checking out, I forgot to get cigarettes. I told the Self Checkout Lady, I forgot to get cigarettes. She said, you are done checking out & wouldnt help me. I was shocked. Great customer service. I went and spoke to a Store Manager on her poor customer service. He apologized & got my cigarettes.

I drove over to Kroger after work 6 this evening to buy dinner, when I got there they were all out of fried chicken from the deli and mostly everything else that was pre-cooked. So I walked around to choose something else and when I went to pay for it, the self-check line went all the way to the back of the store. That was the only line, except for the also really long Cashier line. Ridiculous!!! I wont stand in a line that long! I put my groceries down and left without dinner. What a waste of time! Where is your staff Kroger??? This store is ran very poorly and seems under and poorly staffed.

Always out of everything. Went there for a few items, produce was out, didnt have ground beef, no hash browns, limited everything. Aisles are so tight, barely two people can get down. Better watch you receipt, they will overcharge. I have a question, do different Kroger stores have different prices? I feel bad for the people who shop at this location, drive a couple miles up I75 to Royal Oak.

This review is for the bakery. Today I had an amazing experience with manager Diane. I ordered a custom cake on Thu for pickup today, but the employee I spoke with then made some mistakes and it seems there were miscommunications. Basically, that employee should not have accepted the order I filled out on Thu because they were too swamped with other orders.Despite all this, Diane dropped everything she was working on and put together an AMAZING cake for me in about 10 minutes flat. She was determined to make it right, and that matters. My girlfriends birthday celebration is later tonight and shes going to be ecstatic with the cake Diane decorated.Shes an amazing manager. :)

This Kroger is awful. Lines of people waiting to checkout down 3 aisles. Not enough cashiers, manager does not know how to run this store. Meanwhile there are two blocks of self checkout closed. Fix it this is ridiculous!!!!!

Dont come here unless you enjoy spending 5 minutes shopping and 45 in a checkout line, because theres 2 open lanes and 4 self-checkout for 40 people.

I called the store to speak to customer service just to see if the Bottle Return area was open. She said yes and that they close it down when it reaches capacity. I asked if it was at capacity and the answer was no. 15 minutes later I take all my returns out of my car and pull into the store with the cart and be bedamned the recycle center has a printed sign that says OUT of ORDER and it looked that way for some time. How can you not know that your own recycle center isnt open. Waste of my time and just poor customer service. Im beginning to think all Detroit area Krogers are managed by the same person.

They hired me knowing I was a full time student and tutor. They was trying to schedule me on school days, when I asked for a weekend position, and when I complained twice, they fired me without me knowing. I went up to the store to figure out what was going on with my schedule and the hiring manager told me that she was informed that I quit. Those words never came out my mouth.

Boutta give this Kroger a negative review with all 6 of my emails. And that’s not even enough for every bad experience I’ve had here. Smh.

Long wait Long Lines, 6 cash Registers and only 2 open.....16 self check out registers and only 10 open with long line down the aisle where am I? Aldis? Save -A-Lot? I am confused with how they do things here ...why have a crowd when it can be quick and minimal to the business and customer needs??? This is why I rarely come to this store. Kroger do better than this please.

If you need specialty produce do not come here. You will not find less popular produce like fennel anise rutabaga etc. In a sense it tells you why Americans are fat and hypertensive. The size of the produce department pales in comparison to pre-made frozen food aisles. No one enjoys veggies but everyone enjoys fried chicken and pizza and ice cream.

They had 3/18 self checkouts open and the line to checkout was extending along the back side of the store. Probably would have taken 40 minutes to checkout so I put my stuff back and left.

This is the worst Kroger I have ever had the displeasure of visiting. The pharmacy is good.The individuals that work there are so rude that i wonder how Kroger even allows that kind of atmosphere to exist at one of their locations.I live a couple blocks down the road from this Kroger but travel to the Royal oak Kroger and avoid the miserable and complete rude employees that work here.... Even if its just one thing that I need... Its simply not worth the headache of trying to get anything done here.Do yourself a favor, keep your peace and serenity and go elsewhere for your grocery needs.

Ill admit before Covid came along I was not really a Kroger shopper, BUT I will be from now on !! I have ordered curbside pickup many times since March. Sometimes my orders are huge because Im shopping for the month. I have been happy each time. There is the occasional substitution, but most of the time I end up on the winning end of that with a better version of what i ordered. Once or twice Ive gotten something I may not have picked myself, like a bigger size, but its usually still acceptable or sometimes they might be out of an item, but for the most part I can accept those little quirks because sitting at home placing an order and having someone else shop for it and load it in my truck is a wonderful thing !! I just wish I could grab one of the many nice employees that have loaded up my truck and take them home to help unload it too lol A girl can dream right lol. Seriously though I think I will continue to use pick up even after Covid is long gone. I highly recommend it for anyone that dispises shopping as much as I do !!

I used to think this was the best Kroger in this area. I used to drive out if my way to go here. The tantalizing aroma of fresh baked bread when you walk in the door was a good start. I havent been to this location in years. I went because wed been to Kohls. By the time I left I was without half the things on my list. I couldnt wait to just leave. The store seemed disorganized. The checkout lines were long. The had to be at least 200 people shopping so even the aisles were packed. We started leaving the cart at the end of the aisles and just running down the aisle to get what we wanted and walking back to the cart. There is a much better Kroger on 12 Mile that is bigger, better socked, and also features my favorite: scan and go. You scan your items as you put them in your cart and when you checkout all you have to do is pay!

Ya know, I wish I could go somewhere to shop or eat where customer service really means something. Everywhere you go youre met with rude cashiers, rude floor clerks and sometimes even rude managers. NEVER does anyone ever address you with Im sorry, sir, My apologies or Excuse me, but . . . , instead, all you get are a few words barked at you as if you, the customer, would have the nerve to ask a question. Its closed, The machines broke. Really? Is that the best you can do? You chose to work here, I didnt. Besides, Im sure customer service is in the job description, or at least it used to be back in the 80s when I used to do the same thing.

Ive been here before 5:30 multiple times and the deli is never open. Lines are long. Only 5 out of 18 self checks were available for use.

Consistently the worst Kroger around. Lines are always atrocious. The have 16 self checkouts and only 5 open. And they only have 2 regular registers open, max. Tons of products always out of stock. But I go to another Kroger and they have tons. This Kroger has been consistently going downhill year over year. They have poor management at this location.

Pretty dope Kroger when it comes to Krogers 👌 however the meat isles smell terrible. Its like all the meat is rotting or something. Oh! Also, this Kroger is the ONLY Kroger that stocks my favorite Xochitl Purple Corn Chips that I have found. Happy they do :) I wont eat any other type of tortilla chip. Purple corn is much easier to digest.

Never had a problem at this location...The employees have always been nice and willing to help if asked...unlike the 8mile and Livernois location, stay away from there unless you dont mind unhelpful, rude and stra8 disrespectful employees.

Cashiers are rude and the employees are even more rude.. this store is a disgrace to the Kroger brand; it’s dirty; everything in produce and frozen products are expired, gloves and masks are all over the parking lotThis store should be shut down; I’d rather starve than go there...

Sick and tired of only 1 checkout lane open at a time, sick of the price gouging during covid to make the shareholders happy, sick of terrible customer service that starts at the store manager on down. Kroger has been consistently going downhill for a while now and the only reason I shop here is for the fuel points and the close proximity to my house.

There’s 7 lanes open and lines pouring down aisles of the store, Kroger should be absolutely ashamed of this given their billion dollar profits of the last year.

Had my first racism experience at this Kroger. I gave the cashier cash as payment, when she gave me back change, she throw it on the counter instead of putting it in my outstretched hand. She worked at the register next to the self check out, closer to the information counter today. Sad to say that I live close by this one and used it frequently. Will have to drive all the way to The Kroger at 13 and Harper because the people working there are actually nice, not racists.

This was my 1st time at this store. I truly enjoy the consistency with the Kroger stores. I found everything I wanted and needed. It didnt matter that I was at a different Kroger than I normally go to. No matter which store I go to I am always pleased with the inventory and prices. Took care of some business and bought some groceries. They have the best Red Velvet cake. Oh, the stores are always kept clean and this 1 was no different. The staff was polite. The parking was reasonable. The surrounding stores are plus too. Did I mention they have a free Kroger card that helps reduce your purchase prices? Better go check it out and get yours. I will definitely be returning.

Never seen a store that is out of stock of half of the items on my list (worth about $100) for THREE months straight. This Kroger is trash.

Literally no produce! Produce section was HORRIBLE! Old ,moldy expired fruit & vegetables. Organic/Natural section lacks variety. As well as the water section. A waste of my time. If i could rate 0 stars i would’ve but i can’t so 1 will have to do.

The employees are why I like coming here. They remember you, and theres a near constant security presence (and theyre cool, too). The store has gotten really clean over the last year or so, which I take as an indication that they actually care.Once a lady in the bakery went out of her way to give me fresh cookies when they were out on the table. Super nice. Ill keep coming back.

I was at the Hazel Park Michigan Kroger today to buy a roast for dinner! When I arrived I went straight to the meat department to pick out my roast witch to my surprise was on sale by one get one of equal or less value for free! So I picked two roast both roasts were in the same section one happened to be an English roast witch I was unaware of thought they were the same! When I proceeded to the checkout the roasts would not ring up by one get one free so the nice lady at the checkout told me they were two different kinds of roasts thats why they would not ring up, both roast had the same sticker on them! I said OK and the nice supervisor Im guessing she was offered to go get me a different one of the same kind I said OK! When she brought the roast back that one would still not ring up either! So they called somebody from the meat department and that lady accused me of stealing by switching the stickers on the meat!! When little to no surprise I wasnt even the one that went and got the meat one of the store supervisors was kind enough to run and get it for me as I was holding my 17 month old son! It is quite an offense to accuse someone of stealing in front of everyone in the store! When I wasnt even the one to go get the roast the second time with the same sticker on the meat! Didnt even receive an apology from the young lady in the meat department! Wow

I was at the 9 Mile and JohnR store. It was very busy with the check out lines 5 or 6 people deep. The cashier was closing the line after checking out the persons order in front of me. There were still two other people and I in line who had waited at five minutes.

If I could give no stars I would. Took 35 minutes for someone to inform me that the OPEN bakery counterwasclosed until a certain time. No sign up. Not a single employee spoke to me to see if I needed help. 9 employees walked by, avoiding eye contact the whole time

This trip to pick up and go was fantastic! Made up for the last by far. The shopper picked out excellent produce and meat I would of picked myself. Service was extremely helpful and friendly. A+++

I love Kroger. They have the best fruit, sales and selection of food than the most competitive merchants. Their deli and pastry depts are the best ever. Such a wide variety of excellent products.

The staff is amazing! The management is terrible. I often show up at busy times to find one or two lanes open, often with one of no baggers. I hope the staff talk quietly among themselves and follow the UAW. Perhaps sometime right before a busy holiday.

After shopping here for a few months, Ive decided to go here for emergencies only. Im surprised by the number of times Ive gone in and there were no carts available. They are frequently out of items, regularly have too few cashiers, long lines and wait times (I just had two things to get and was there over 20 minutes), and will close down self checkout lanes even when that would clearly alleviate some of the congestion. Also, despite stating they are open until midnight, customer service is not.At this point, its worth the extra ten minutes to drive up to the Kroger in Royal Oak. They have sushi, liquor, and a far greater selection of products.

9 mile and John R: Made significant improvements to this store a year ago. Dramatic improvement. Gripes:. Customer Service counter takes forever, closes at 9 or 10, often people buying lottery without bet slips, always out of stock on certain items if you shop late, Produce is often not restocked promptly and has very small footprint.

Its fine. Wonderful selection of healthy foods from teas to snacks. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A good portion of the store 25% Id estimate. Located when you first enter just past the produce. They also have a small enclave between meat & dairy, that has reduced items not only food. ..I purchased a Mr Coffee maker for $7, many soaps & other hygienic products for 50% -75% off. The main reason I go they always have cottage cheese & sour cream for $1. The only thing that isnt Great they have like 50 employees & if you are at customers service counter or check out NO ONE WILL STOP & TRY TO HELP YOU. They all seem to be on break at the same time,Wont even make eye contact. The cashier has to leave & do what needs to be done, and of course there are other people in line waiting.

My shopping experience here has been less than satisfactory. Prices are awful in my opinion. They do have some weekly sales but doesnt every place? Place is usually crowded and food is not really all that fresh in the produce department. If you need to stop somewhere quickly and grab something it will work but I would definitely recommend finding a different store to grocery shop at.

Very convenient close to home low prices great sales items! unfortunately Im in there every single day (mostly) spending alot of money but great quality of food, if not theyll make it right, exchange it or give you a refund! they stand by their products! good job Kroger

Trashy, dirty, worst kroger ever!

Living in Ferndale, we have a lack of large grocery stores so this seemed like a good option. I was wrong.The clientele here is super trashy. Lots of drunks and homeless begging. Management should at least do something about the begging...The store just feels really dingy and dirty and lots of items are out.I was charged for several items which I later found were put in the wrong customers basket! Next time I want to loose $40 I will go to the casino. Two bottles of wine, some meat and frozen food all charged for but I didnt get.Needless to say it is worth the drive to a different Kroger or even paying a little more somewhere nicer.

Use self checkout. Did not see signs on register that it cash only. I was looking around for cashier. I see a Kroger employee with merchandise in her hand. I thought they were waiting check out. I had to ask her if she was working self checkout. I mean she was just starring at me. THEN she came to assist and showed me the signs. ( in front of my face) Cashed me out. I was in a lot of pain and wasnt functioning correctly. I was thinking why did I have to reach out to her?I just left the Greenfield Kroger in Oak Park. There is a 2 day sale that starts tomorrow. I thought it began today. My cashier, Pearl told me (very rudely) the sale dates. I apologized to HER ( she never acknowledged me). I asked her what should I do with the items. She snapped and said, just leave Ill get someone to take care of it. She asked/told a bagger to get it. Once again, very rudely. Ms. Pearl probably needs her job. However, her attitude is horrendous!. I will pick up the sale items tomorrow at a different Kroger. I am employed PT in retail @ a major venue in Detroit. Good customer service is encouraged daily.

This is my go to grocery store for my larger shopping trips. Deli staff is very helpful getting me what I need. Sometimes the items I buy arent always on sale or may be a little more expensive then some other grocery stores, but they always have what I want. Also has a gas station which is convient if i happen to need gas while I am there.

It’s like a zoo in here sometimes, the bottle return is always full and a worker is no where to be found. Small store, small parking lot, with too many people in there.

The store is well stocked. Good beer selection. The cashiers are always friendly to my family. We like shopping here. Parking can be tough.

Lived in the neighborhood 6 years and this place has always been a dump. From the parking lot to the employees. Aside from the pharmacy staff this place is a tear down.

This is only my 2nd visit to this location in some time. Staff was great: helpful without a lot of hassle. I would have given them five stars, but I use scooters & it was not easy obtaining one.

The best thing about this Kroger is that the check-out lines are reliably fast. Theres actually a decent selection of foods, but it is definitely skewed toward a lower price point compared to other Kroger stores. The last store renovation brought a nice health/natural/organic foods section, which is nice.

I have been shopping at this Kroger for 14 years now. The staff is great, convenient location. They have watched my kids grow up, some of the employees are almost like family!

You know i love shopping at Krogers but many times i leave and i am let down because i like to buy a lottery ticket on my way out and it seems to be out of service quite a bit. They need to get a new. machine .win or lose i would walk out smiling.
