Went to get dog kennel panels and they were all chewed up. Online said they had 28 of them drove 57 miles to buy 3 that looked liked they belonged in the dumpster. Never again

I purchased a fourteen thousand dollar lawn mower. found out I got screwed out of more than a thousand dollars.. all the sudden NOBODY works at southerlands that can help me.. No managers are around... No returned phone calls.. the complete staff , I am told is either on vacation or at meetings.... What a company. Rob Harris

We are always disappointed in this store, they never have what we need. We always try here first and always end up going to Home Depot for everything. We wish Sutherlands was better because its just around the corner from us.

We came to shop in the garden center. We were disappointed in the appearance of the garden center. It looked like the middle of winter. There were plants ,but not taken good care of. The employees looked disgruntled. I have not shopped your store in a long time, but we were out for a drive and I had seen your Memorial day ad and wanted to shop there. We got a couple of items. Employees are always nice here. However today we were looking forward to buying some new flowers from the garden centre. It did look as though they must have somehow gotten too much heat or too much cold because so many were dead or damaged. Disappointed, but will still go back.

Prices are competitive with the bigger stores up north on quite a few things. But it can be relatively difficult to get some help when you need it.

Had a unique experience. A piece of foam pipe insulation rang up at 46,100.00. I told the cashier I was not paying that much for that. We all had a good laugh. The item was fixed in a speedy time. Good cashier and management.

Great customer service, everyone I asked for help sounded happy to do so and they have a wide selection of products though the prices for most things are above elsewhere. All employees were wearing a mask and gave me my 6 feet. The floors could use some attention and I have no idea if the bathrooms are open or not so I dont know if they are clean. 4 stars for customer service and product availability and 1 star off for prices and cleanliness.

My Family and I used to buy from Sutherlands on a regular biases, but now are very disappointed with the Harrisonville MO store. Prices are nearly doubled compare to other hardware stores. The customer service is unacceptable when it comes to returning products and when needing help. The employees are constantly not in their department and it takes up to thirty minuets to get the appropriate help needed. The store is also filthy and constantly understocked. The employees are great to talk to, but they need to work more on working and less talking.

Seemed a little short handed, but it was lunch time on Sunday. Had several keys made & they were done quickly & properly.

Difficulty finding what we were looking for. Couldnt find any employees to help. Service desk wasnt helpful at all, and directed us to an aisle that didnt exist. This was our 2nd failed attempt to purchase this same item (that was showing as available in the store, when we checked online). Very disappointed. We will probably go elsewhere in the future.

Clean, had what I needed.

People are friendly and selection is good, but there are several frustrations. Bring a notepad to write down what individual bolts, nuts and washers ate worth because they have no system of pricing them at the checkout. The lumber, at least the pine, is mostly all worthless and hours can be spent digging through a pile of hundreds of boards to find one or two that are slightly less bad than the others. I guess that would be fine if it was free, but they expect you to pay for the junk lumber they sell. That said this seems to be true of all lumber companies I have shopped at and not inherent of Southlands. They are perhaps a grade in quality below Lowes, but that seems to depend on the day and the batch of lumber.

Super convenient local store which is what makes it hard to not go back, with not much else to pick from. You would think they would screen there employees for outgoing personalities and maybe some sort of knowledge of what they are selling before hiring them. The gentlemen working at the service desk the last few times Ive been in there are rude as hell and seem like I am bothering them from there nap or something!! They dont seem to care that I want to spend money in there and support my local community! Family Center may be getting most my business in the future.

I ordered online for in store pickup. Four hours later, still not started. Once they did have my order, I paid full price, even though I had a military discount.I get home and noticed they didnt include a couple of items in my order.My fault for not double checking, but they seemed like I was bothering them, so I left as soon as I could.Dont plan on returning.

3 days in a row they screwed me around on my order, tools, and prices. Crazy they are still in business. FORGET the small town “family owned” feeling. I get better customer service from Home Depot and Lowe’s!!! ZERO accountability for anything. Last time I’ll be back.

The prices on what I went for were twice the price of big-name competitors. However the employee I spoke with had no clue what they were talking about. Im a professional contractor and she was trying to appear knowledgeable so I gave her an A for effort but that could potentially lead to misinforming a customer

I have to say I did not expect to like doing inventory there but my own experiences is that the people at this southerlands happen to to be pretty awesome! Not only where they friendly they also go above and beyond to help people! I am thankful to have had the opportunity to work in the store and I can tell you in my personal time I will go back!!

After waiting 45 minutes on someone to get something down off a shelf, the tags were marked wrong and all they had was the display. 20 minutes later they still couldn’t find the box for the display power tool only. Proceed to plywood wait around forever to get assistance getting sheets from top shelf. Off to the register and checkout can’t find the right tag in the book for sheets of plywood, then tells me the display with nothing and no box is full price. What little staff they have is friendly. The manager had to be pagged 4 times. The store is a disaster with stuff all over the isles that you can’t even get through them with a cart.

They need to update the store hours sign on the building. It still says open until 9PM and out-of-towners like myself arent aware of this. I was just in there shopping around then suddenly the lights all shut down and there were still a bunch of people milling around like myself. I dont think they knew either plus no one announced anything over the intercom. You just had to figure it out yourself.

They had flowers on sale today and they are already all gone. There prices seem a little high but I looking at wind chimes so they might just be priced higher. The staff seems pretty nice.

Complaint for one of their subcontractors- Since their subcontractor has no online or social media presence, with the exception of their website stating that they are the storage building provider for Kansas Citys Sutherlands locations, this review reflects the type of workers representing Sutherlands.I saw a YouTube video of one of their trucks clearly marked Black Arrow Builders using an on ramp to pass on the right at high speeds. The youtuber states that he called and the company would not take a driving complaint. There is an audio of that call, and they were more interested in the callers vehicle, never once got the complaint information or even asked what the traffic violation was. I saw the video and it was clear that they dont care about safety of others. They flew past a car with 2 infant in the back, in the video they zoomed in on that and the logo on the truck so it was very clear. I would never use them, I can not recommend them and shame on Sutherlands for allowing them to affect their image.

Great DIY store. Staff is always helpful. They must rotate staffing because sometimes there are all new faces. For us in the rural areas, having Sutherland in small towns is a +++plus.

Never Again will I go there! I drove 45 minutes to this store because of receiving a notice through email of a sale on trees. The man that helped us buying our trees never mentioned the sale started tomorrow. When I got to the truck and looked at the receipt they were not the sale price. Upon going back in I was informed the sale was not until the next day. I ask what I could do about it and the man got extremely rude saying he couldnt help what Sutherlands did. I returned the trees and will never go back. I will just have to drive 15 minutes more to the next one and see if they are better at customer service.

I like Sutherlands, prices are fair & they usually have what I need & theres always someone available to help if I need it. I wouldve given them 5 Stars if not for the fact that I almost always have trouble finding a material cart inside the store, so I usually get one from a cart rack in the parking lot before going inside.

Dirk the manager and the gentleman that answered the phone do not have ANY people skills! I am a member of friends of the family, but they treated me like an ENEMY of the state! I will never shop there again, i will encourage my family and friends not to shop there! Not one more penny!It is not possible to give less than one star or i would have! Please shop at other stores, we can do better! We do not have to accept such poor treatment and poor service from anyone! Terrible service and selection, if youre in a hurry forget about everything, way under staffed, ran in other day was doing work in Hville area was a last resort to run in there, spent couple hundred bucks for some over priced materials, then they lost a $250 phone sale for terrible service. I packed up and took the rest of my business to Home Depot!

They didnt have the wire I needed, which is pretty common, and had to walk up to the front counter to get any help. And I find 3 employees up there two of them just standing there talking. After getting there attention and telling them what I wanted the one behind the counter says ok and then turns away from me and finishes what he was doing and called for someone. Didnt say Im sending someone back there or head on back there or anything. So I walked back to electrical and the girl who shows up doesnt have a clue about wire or what they actually carried or had in stock. So I settled for something off the shelf and was just glad that was all I needed.

I usually have great service as I spend a lot of time and money in this store. HOWEVER, I recently had a jackass help me, or really roll his eyes and try to sell me a microwave that had no mounting bracket. After I asked about a bracket, he still insisted everything was there, then I told him I had just installed one and that there should be one. I asked him if he was sure that it didnt need one, and finally he said probably. Newsflash Steve, just because you are retiring in 6-8 months doesnt mean you need to be rude. You work in an industry where customer service is a must, dont treat people like they are stupid!

I dont know why I bother going to Sutherlands. Every time I go I leave frustrated and having to go other places to get my merchandise. Today I was there to get a set of common lift handles that youd find on a garage door along with some nuts and bolts. I spoke to three different employees, none of them offered to show me where they were nor did any of them even tell me to look in the same isle. This isnt the first time theyve failed in their product selection or their customer service. I did go to Family Center right after leaving sutherlands and Family Center had the lift handles I needed to get my project finished up.

I really like the that you can always find someone to help you and they know what theyre doing.

Today is their annual apple sale. It is hard to find someone who works in the store. Their prices are lower than the competitors. When they do their produce sale they are always cheaper and better quality than the grocery stores.
