I have been going to this shop, and working with Christine for about a year now. I have been to quite a few dive shops, and I have never felt more like at home when I go to Underwater Adventures. She has guided me to some of the best gear I have ever dove with. My favorite thing about the shop, besides the amazing amount of knowledge at this shop, Is I never had to worry about getting a sales persons answer. With this shop Its always up front and tells you the truth. Christine has not only won my business for my short time here but, I will always go through Underwater Adventures for a life time! I promise you, you cant go wrong here. So stop in, you wont regret it!

I highly recommend this as your number one scuba spot if to shop or learn new skills staff and instructors are greatly accommodating and friendly.The owner of the store is the best her knowledge and recommendations of gear and dive locations are alone worth the visit!Hope you take my advice and check uwa out for your selves!

Not Kid Friendly!I brought my kids to this scuba shop to try and fit them for masks. My kids are only 9 and 12, but their heads are at least as big as mine, so I wanted to get them an adult mask. I was hoping to let them try a couple of masks on to make sure they could get a proper seal, but the individual working that day was completely uninterested in allowing us to do this. As soon as I mentioned masks for my kids, with a regrettable tone, she pointed me to the children’s bundles. There were only two and one was pink. I am trying to get my kids into scuba, not snorkeling, as they begin the junior certification process this year and next. They need scuba appropriate fins and a mask that fits their face.When I mentioned that I wanted to have them try some masks on, the employee, clearly annoyed just said that she could tell by looking that the adult masks wouldn’t fit and on top of that, everything they touch she has to clean.It was evident that she was annoyed to be dealing with kids. She was annoyed to be asked to actually have masks tried on. She didn’t want us there. So, we left. I ended up giving her the benefit of a doubt and buying two boys kits. Lo and behold, I was right. The kids stuff was too small. So, thanks for not only wasting my time, but wasting my money.If you’ve got kids and are trying to share the joy of scuba with them, don’t come to Undersea Adventures in Hampton, VA. Personally, I won’t go there for anything at all ever again.

I cant say enough about the staff at Underwater Adventures. I received my training from them a couple of decades ago, dont judge. My experience was great then. Forward to today and I decided to get my kids certified and went back to them. I could not be happier with them again! My kids loved the classes; yes, my kids loved a class. They kept it interesting and most importantly they gave them all the information they needed.On top of having a great class they were able to provide the gear that was needed. It is nice to actually try on equipment and get a good feel for what fits best. They have plenty of stuff in stock and their prices are very competitive. Plus having recommendations from people who actually dive is great.If you are thinking of instruction or just looking for product I would recommend stopping by to see them.

I just recently got certified through this dive shop. What a great experience I had. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful and just great people. Highly recommend this shop if you’re in the need to become certified or need to purchase equipment.

Stuff is knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. Instructors have many years of experience, individually and even more so collectively. Everything is reasonably priced, and usually beats online prices. Servicing of equipment is excellent and also very reasonably priced.

Chris & Jim run a great shop. I got certified through them 3 years ago and it was great. Their gear is all competitively priced. I highly recommend Underwater Adventures as you Local Dive Shop. (LDS).

The gentleman who runs the store was a great help in finding some equipment we needed that was hard to find. We will definitely be coming back for any other diving equipment we need.

Just certified as a diver through Underwater Adventures. I could not have been more pleased. They were very organized, explained everything clearly, then sent very detailed emails, so I knew exactly what, and by when, I needed to get things done. The shop was great about fitting me out, and Kendell the instructor could not have been better. The place to go for scuba cert!

Got my dive training here 25 years ago......So did my sons.....Now three of my grandchildren were just certified here this past summer. Good Training isnt cheap.... Cheap training isnt good ..... Your life may depend on it... P.S. Buy your quality dive gear from them as well. Expert advice.

The best dive shop I have ever been to. I have been diving for 20 years and the helpful staff makes it easy for me to get what I need with great recommendations. Also if I am planning a trip, I always use them as they make sure all details are taken care of. Awesome job! 5 stars!!

Our family has been going to Underwater Adventures for over 20 years. They certified my husband and I back in 1994, and recently certified my nephew and nieces. While we had different instructors, the instruction was excellent back then and still today. Every time we go on a trip, the Divemaster on the boat always remarks about our excellent training. Their instructors really care about their students. I had trouble clearing my mask and was falling behind in class. They took extra care and brought in an additional instructor and that instructor worked with me one on one until I finally got it! We have our gear serviced at Underwater Adventures too. We have never had to worry about an equipment problem in all the years that we have been diving. I cant say enough good things about Underwater Adventures. They plan our dive travel and all of our trips are at great rates, with all details attended to. For us, Underwater Adventures offers the best in diving. They are honest, dependable, and know the dive business. We definitely rely on their expertise.

You cannot beat their total number of years of experience in this industry. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Great travel resource as well.

Instructors seemed to really care.very structured and well run.enjoyed it and felt I learned a lot.would recommend to anyone.was a great experience.

I have tried to work with this dive shop multiple times and each time has been very frustrating. What it boils down to, if you deal with any other dive shop in the area, this one will not accept their certs or inspections. They would not fill my tanks despite them being up to date on all requirements. They would also not accept a VIP from PCS/PSI because they did not do it. I guess that is their right, but it is also my right to not spend my money here or recommend them.

My wife and I signed up to get SCUBA certified at this shop but purchased our gear elsewhere. When we brought our gear in to UA so they could make sure it was the right equipment for the certification class, we were told we needed to buy new fins because ours were snorkel fins. We researched ahead of time and purchased the #1 selling SCUBA fins in the world (Mares VOLO Power dive fins for $180) but somehow, according to UA, they were not SCUBA quality. When I asked why, I was told that it was because the instructor doesnt like them. They were very rude and refused to allow us to take the certification class without purchasing new fins from them. We took our fins to Divers Unlimited in Norfolk, VA and they had no problem with them and even encouraged us to use them since they are one of the best fins. Whatever you do, DO NOT do business with this shop.

I took in 3 dive tanks to have an annual visual inspection done, besides the price being a bit higher than the other large dive shops in the Hampton Roads area and knowing this before taking them in. It was so be it. When I was contacted that the tanks were ready for pickup I went in to pay for them, expecting around $75 plus tax and possible O-rings ect... My bill was $233.90 I asked why so much? the response I was given was 1 tank failed visual due to a couple of small cracks around the neck. OK Im fine with that it was an old U.S. Divers Luxfer tank manufactured in 1985 and had it for 30yrs. 2 hydros were done on the two good tanks which was not requested to have done and did not need to be done until after Feb. 2016. The break down: 2-hydros unneeded @ $45 each, 3-visuals @ $25 each, 2-burst assy. @ 22.50 each, 2-air fills @ $10 each. Visuals have always included the air fill in the price, and hydros included a visual and air fill in the price of having a hydro done. VERY UNSATISFIED WITH UNDERWATER ADVENTURES,first time using them and it will be the last dime that business ever receives from me.
