An awesome music store with a nice selection of record albums in a beautiful part of town. Heres a picture of what this same place looked like way back in 1884 before rock n roll came along.

This is the best place to buy a guitar or amplifier in Hamilton. They have very reasonable prices on new and used gear. I was lucky enough to get a tour of the studio upstairs. Definitely check this place out if you want to do any recording.

I’ve bought several instruments through 3rd street and have used their studio many times for recording. Love the people and the environment!

I tried to take my daughter here for guitar lessons because of the good reviews on fb and the convenient location. I looked at the website and thought the building and its history were interesting, too. It seemed like a cool place to take music lessons. However, I regretted my decision pretty quickly. I wonder if the other reviewers went to the same place we did...My daughters first lesson started 45 min late. When we arrived, the owners son said his dad (my daughters instructor), Pete, was a little behind. He said someone else had his first lesson that day, too, and sometimes the first lessons run a little longer than 30 min. Ok... Well, the boy scheduled before my daughter didnt even begin his lesson till 10 min after we arrived, but Pete seemed nice and my daughter enjoyed the lesson, so I wasnt really bothered by the wait. The next week her lesson started 45 min late again. The third week, we arrived a few min early. The sign on the front door said OPEN, but the door was locked and I could see that no one was in the front room by the register. We waited out front for several minutes, then I called to see if someone might hear the phone. Voice mail picked up, so I left a msg saying we were out front and the door was locked. We waited several more min before returning to our car. We continued to wait and I called again, but it still went to voice mail.We were still in the parking lot about to leave when the same boy who had lessons before my daughter appeared inside the front room with his mom. They exited out the front door. A moment later, we can see Pete walking around in the front room. It was now 20 min past the time my daughters lesson should have started. I waited a moment longer to see if Pete would return my calls. He did not. I was reasonably annoyed by this point, so we left.We did not return the following week.I never got so much as a phone call that day or the next. I didnt get a call during the next week. What I got was a flippant text msg from Pete two weeks after the fact, which Im sure was sent only for his convenience to determine if he should keep the time slot open. It stated that he had missed us the previous week and two weeks ago he had run late again and Miles (who I am assuming is his son, and who also posted one of the 5 star reviews, surprise), had to leave and thats why the door was locked. He said he was ready for my daughters lesson, which would have been later that evening, and he hoped we would be there. Ha! Good one.I never got a phone call. Never got, Sorry for starting your lessons 45 min late and letting you guys sit outside for a half hour. Not even a simple, My bad.  Im pretty laid back and not hung up on formalities. I appreciated the casual atmosphere at 3rd Street, but I do not appreciate someone being so unprofessional as to persistently waste my time and gas. The time my daughters lessons were scheduled for was offered as being available. Why offer a particular time if you cant honor the commitment? And youd think some effort would be made to at least pretend that your customers convenience and business mattered, even a little.I suppose 3rd Street makes enough profit from instrument sales and studio rental to not need to be concerned with losing music students. Thats fine. It took less than a week to enroll my daughter in a reputable music school at the same cost.If youre looking for lessons AND value your time and money, go somewhere else.
