If you go around to the back of the store you might be able to find a blue cube like bin and inside that bin is all sorts of still decent produce that they are sending away to be composted best thing is although discouraged it is totally legal to get the food out of these bins from a precedent set by the Supreme Court in the case People vs. Greenwood back in the mid 80’s but that is only if they leave the gate open/unlocked. Happy hunting 🤓

First time at this Safeway and Rhonda at the Deli department made my experience AMAZING! She had ton of patience and made my sandwiches so perfect! Definitely going to be back just for the sandwiches next time i visit !❤️❤️❤️

Is totally understopped or just didnt have any of the things that I normally buy yet not a good night

Clerk was very kind, bathrooms were clean, found the store too crowded with merchandise, to the point grocery carts were cumbersome in the isles. I love Safeway, but their prices tend to be higher, GREAT BAKERY, BUT high prices, the second clerk was weird, no expression, no interaction, very blunt, I felt he was being bothered to check the lady in front of me as well as myself

I like this Safeway. It’s pretty mellow and clean and the folks are nice.

Best Customer Service EVER. I always shop late due to my schedule, which leads me to and i to this store 15 minutes prior to closing. Even though staff are tired and ready to shut the doors, they are ALWAYS helpful and happy.

During these times, it has been decadent. Most of the times they are out stock on some items or another. Long lines at check out, lack of cashiers most of the times.

My favorite grocery store of all time. I am not much a fan of Albertsons, who owns Safeway as their prices are higher so I am glad they have kept Safeway, Safeway and not turned it into a Vons or Albertsons.

I do not shop at Safeway unless I have no other choice. I may run there for anItem or two at times. The prices are too high, the food spoils quickly if not immediately, and there are a few staff members who clearly dont like people. I always drive to Pacifica to shop at Grocery Outlet. I spend $300 and that buys $600 worth of groceries.I love it and the people are pleasant.

After calling 11 Safeway stores in my area of San Jose to order our Thanksgiving dinner..only to find out they were all sold out!! I couldnt believe it😬..So I decided to call this location and OMG they only had 2 dinners left to order!. I was able to score one!! They have slowly started raising prices and changing brands of the regular items I buy. Now I have to go to Pacifica or San Mateo which sucks cause I work in HMB and would do my shopping during my lunch. Now I have to wait to go somewhere else.

Rude store employees, high prices, and often i find dairy products that go bad before their expiration date.Sometimes they are strangely out of basic things, like organic milk.I avoid going here.This is a junky safeway, the one in pacifica is much nicer.Im at this safeway right now. March 12th.Employees(cashiers) are not following social distancing.The place is a zoo. I’m loyal to Safeway because they do a lot to support the local community. They sponsor the pumpkin festival and donate cakes and pastries to feed the hungry on saturdays.

I like Safeway, At the moment their honeycrisp apples and hot chicken pot pies are on sale. Theres no bog rolls ( english slang for toilet paper), and I really miss their hot soup. I always use the self checkout.

Very clean and attractive grocery store. A little crowded due to holiday shopping, but customer service was exceptionally good.

Run down, associates are zombies. No interaction whatsoever. Seems like you were annoying them.Shelves were emptied,most of the sale items were out of stock.It is just me but since the COVID-19 started does it seems anywhere you go with bigbox the associates seem disinterested in helping you and move 3x as slow.

I shop at this Safeway probably 5 times a week. Its a very old store and its very compact. I understand it was supposed to be a 2 story Safeway to save money they made it a one story. The bathrooms are in serious need of remodeling. In my opinion you can judge a location I how well kept the restrooms are maintained. The other design flaw of the store is the restrooms right behind the fish/meat department. I like the store staff but the store itself needs updating.

After 2 letters to store, I must say this about the fish department. About 35% of time nobody to pull out fish and put in a wrapper. Employees ignore me standing about. Then, I just leave and go elsewhere. 2 times, fish guy was just staring out in space like on drugs and would not help me at all. Today was final straw. No more shopping for fish at this Safeway. I now will go across street at another market where the fish department will let me buy fish when I go in. Everything else in this Safeway store is OK.

We bought wood from the brand blue dragon by the time we got to the camp site and took it out we noticed moisture with in the bag. The wood was damp we had to source other wood since it wouldn’t catch on.

Gigantic selection of groceries also got very good service, we grabbed a bunch of prepared food and had a picnic everything that we got was great they had a huge selection it was a good experience we will definitely go back. I recommend this place!

The lines can get impossibly long so I always have ti use self checkout, they always have amazing food deals going on so a great place to go to, to save a pretty penny.

Great place to stop for groceries if you’re renting a beach house in the area. Only have 4 stars because their selection and quality of fruit was really lacking. Wanted some strawberries but they looked moldy and only half ripe. Maybe due to the location on coast it’s hard to get good fruit this time of year? But it’s we found some great blackberries, bananas and apples. Found everything else we needed plus some!

I like here because I save money on my purchases.

To be honest 2 and a half stars would be fair. Im a frequent customer and a local. I dont suggest coming here. The bread and donuts in the bakery arent usually fresh. The employees are not well treated and underpaid. I feel as if I was discriminated against on my last visit today. All I can think about was how bad the customer service was towards me and my husband. Her name was Carmen and she is the reason why I even decided to leave a review. She followed us around the store the second we walked inside. When we checked out, she was extremely rude and not wanting to assist us, especially when she was standing around etc. This experience did not leave me feeling well at all. I dont suggest coming here unless you plan on being profiled and stalked. Ill be going to New Leaf instead because they believe in EQUALITY & acceptance.

The Half Moon Bay Safeway is almost always busy. It has the full line of groceries and related household products. Theres a deli, bakery, a full line of produce and a complete meat section. Its a safe environment with relatively easy parking. Theres a CVS, McDonalds, Round Table Pizza and other businesses in the same area.Its not unusual for homeless persons to be present, but the ones I have encountered are neither aggressive or otherwise problematic.

I liked it because of the fact that you didnt have to wait in line to go in and they had pretty much everything in stock

My favorite Pharmacy, yes better than Walgreens and CVS BY A MILE.Plus Walgreens and CVS Dont have a Bathroom.My favorite Safeway is this one at Howard Ave.At Burlingame.

This Safeway store is well organized and fully stocked, although today the broccoli bin was empty. So I chose green beans instead which were fresh and tasty.

Prices go up every week. Signature private label is increasingly becoming ones only choice. People are more inconsiderate.

I shop here regularly. And I like most Safeways. Today I was dressed in full regalia complete with mask leftover from the fires and my gardening gloves. I was shocked to see not one other mask, nor gloves. I figure with my pre-existings and hovering at 69, I would bite the bullet. The only way to tell we have a pandemic that could pop up anytimeIs by the very empty shelves. There were no potatoes, no cabbage, only bagged raw carrots,so you Irish better get creative. The. Virus is in San Francisco and Santa Clara county.

Prices are way to high. Big company taking advantage. Will shop at new leaf from now on.
