The kid working in the gun section knows nothing about handguns and because I came there in work clothes after work he kept trying to steer towards the inexpensive handguns like I couldnt afford the gun I was asking to see. Was ready to buy the gun but because of the vibe and lack of knowledge by the salesperson, not to mention his assumptions, I decided to order the gun online from Buds. If you are experienced with firearms Academy might be fine but if youre a novice or first time buyer, go to an actual gun store where the sales people know what theyre talking about...

Overall a nice place to get a variety of items you need. The people greet you when coming into the store. Never had a bad experience here but also nobody going above and beyond either. So no complaints. I go I. And get what I need and then leave. 😁

Its the only bad thing that I ever have to say about Academy is that they run out of certain things too quickly And most importantly,to my family at least, is that they do not support veterans by honoring a veterans discount. I believe those that serve our country can at least be honored with a small discount with businesses as large as Academy sports and outdoors. As a matter of fact I believe every business should honor those who serve with this discount, after all we wouldnt be enjoying the freedoms that we do such a shopping without them.Especially considering how many veterans shop there. My family included! But on a much more positive note I do like the selection that they offer.

Everyone was helpful and we found exactly what we were looking for! They have everything from sports cleats to guns and ammo. Grilling section is pretty extensive as well! Definitely a gift stop for the sportsman in your life!

Store was organized, employees asked if I needed any help while I was looking around. I ended up buying a few outfits dressing rooms were simple and checkout process was no problem at all.

My friend and I went to the Gulfport store today to get some things for a boat we just purchased.We hear a very pleasant accented voice ask if we have found everything we needed....... well that was the beginning of the Jenny train/parade. Jenny (who was over that department but still learning) took our list and helped us find everything. Even showed us how to use a manual bilge pump!! Jenny you were awesome. Curbside pickup is kind of poor. Word of advise, CALL when you arrive to speed up service. The app is kind of slow. Other than that, friendly and helpful employees, along with a clean store.

Great sporting good store! Huge selection of everything and they regularly have discounts for first responders military and sometimes health care workers. Staff is friendly. Have a huge fishing section, and when in stock, firearms area. Can’t seem to keep ammo in stock. Huge shoe selection as well

Called this store after D’Iberville failed to provide me with customer assistance. I spoke with Michael who had what I needed in stock. He was extremely patient with looking up a few things I was interested in purchasing. He even offered to hold the items til I arrived. Once I got to this store, I noticed employees actually working and they were friendly. Thanks to all who go me in and out in an orderly fashion. This is the second time Ive had to return something in the past 30 years without a receipt. Both times they rip you off as much as possible I paid $16 for a hat and they wanted to give me a I bought the hat 2 days ago. This is the last time I will ever shop at this store any sports. Pro shop here I come.

Went on their website looking to buy a fly rod it said they have them in stock.Wrong! All they have are little travel fly rods. Longest they have is 66And no fly fishing equipment Academy Sports get with the program

Went to 4 different academies looking for mens camouflage frog toggs suit... They had a large selection of sizes.Not really all of the possible camo patterns... But they had what I Needed and when I called they answered the first ring... Hattiesburg store I was on hold for almost 10 minutes... Thank you Gulfport store for the great experience!

Nice place to find sporting goods but has no toddler selections of clothes and nobody was around to assist me everyone seemed to be hiding and one cashier even just stood there with her sunglasses on while I was waiting to ask a question she didnt even speak until I said something to her first. All the cashier where practically just standing around with nothing to do.

I love that Academy actually beats the prices on athletic shoes at other near by shoe stores. At another competitor, they wanted 49.99, Academy had the same ones on sale for 29.99. Shop around folks!

Good place to find camping gear.

I bought a USM T- shirt from the clearance rack which said 50% off. I assumed they would take it off at the register because all the collegiate shirts were on the same racks. I paid full price which didn’t make me happy.

Out of stock on a lot of items though out the store.

Academy usually has good stuff and good prices but they do practice a lot of deceptive sales like this track bees are actually $30 shorts and they dont honor the sign but they love to put up sale signs like this and they do this kind of stuff all the time....

The Gulfport location generally has a better selection than Diberville. I like it much better.

Todays visit to the Gulfport store was less than satisfying. The associates were rude. And very vocal that they did not want to help me. Today will be the last visit to this store

I have visited this location several times in the past few months. Pretty typical to big box store. Nothing really stands out on the good or bad side. Pretty clean. Pleasant staff. Decent selection of merchandise, low or out of some of the more popular items/sizes, but overall good experience.

Gulfport store was friendly and fast. No attitude like Mike in the diberville store.

Multiple occasions with very very rude employees. Today I witnessed an employee standing outside and manually shut the doors in front of an older gentleman without saying a word and then just pointed at a small sign on the door saying store hours when the asked if they were open. I have refrained all the other times that employees have been overly rude but it seems it’s just a common occurrence at this store

Academy has fallen off my favorite list. The Chinese products are taken over everything. Probably not ever going back.
