Mechanic said to bring car in at 1:30 on a Friday and he would install the sensor while I waited. He did not show up. Foolishly left car and keys with receptionist. A week later still no call so I called them. Receptionist said she would consult mechanic and call back. Days later no call. Called again and this time she said he was talking to a customer so she would talk to him and call me in 10 minutes. Days later still no call back. I went in and she said she tried to call but my phone must be out of order. Funny, I get calls every day and no one has had a problem getting through. I was so glad to get my car out of there.

1 star.If you need an oil change/ tire rotation or in and out job, this place is for you. Hard Lesson learned.Took our truck to East End auto for issues we thought were due to the transfer case going bad. Needed to get it in and out of a shop, so we called to see if they would take a look. After about a week I called the shop to check if they could tell me what they thought. We were told it was the transfer case, but until they pulled the part number off the truck, they wouldn’t be able to tell us a price, said they would call us 3 days later... a week later without any call I called them again to find out what they were charging.. Nearly $3,000 for parts and labor for a new transfer case, $1,400 for a used. After discussion, we went with used, but asked for the mileage on the used part. They told us they would be working on it a week later once they got the used part, and it would be done at the end of that week. The day we were told it would be done, we call at noon and were told we would be able to pick it up at 5:00, and they would stay late to finish. We waited with no call until 6:15 so we called and the shop was empty. Monday we call again to ask why we were never contacted and they said they had to order a part that was needed to finish and the part would be in Tuesday. We were sent a text message Monday night stating the part was in and we could get it the next day. We waited all day Tuesday for a call letting us know we could come pick it up and never got one. We ended up picking up the truck on Wednesday paying almost $1,500 and not one phone call in the month they had it. After talking to shops in Newton and surrounding areas that do transmission work, we were told the job would have cost us half of that if we had taken it to them, and no longer than 2 weeks to compete. We were charged almost $1,000 for the used transfer case alone, and were never told any information about mileage or prior use. I know shops have customers, and we were falling in line, but over a month with one text message about the status of anything..... I also would have liked to have been told I couldn’t get my bad transfer case back. Before being pulled into the shop, I did ask for it so I could inspect that it was actually bad. They told me the place they got my used one takes the bad one... Communicate appropriately.

Scott Cook is a mechanic you can trust. My granddaughter left her car in a Grinnell College parking lot thinking it was dead. I called Scott from 1400 miles away telling where it was and what I had been told was wrong with it. He found the car drove it to his shop[keys were left in car with door unlocked] and tested it . He found nothing wrong. He could have told me it would cost the $ 900 my own mechanic told me to expect if the problem was as I suspected. Instead nothing was wrong and I paid $78.65 for him finding and testing the car. There was nothing wrong. Car drove flawlessly 1400 miles home. WAY TO GO SCOTT. WISH I COULD GIVE YOU MORE BUSINESS.

The brakes went out on the car my daughter drives to college. I called East End Auto and Im glad I did, they are good honest people. The repair was in the range I was expecting to fix the problem they found. If youre out of town and wondering who to have a broken car taken too for repair you can trust East End to be honest with a fair price.
