Im a huge crystal collector and I had no idea this store was so close to home. I loved the experience, they have a variety of sizes and stones. These gems are a little higher in price but they have good quality gems. They also have gems Im not able to find anywhere else. Would go back.

I loved it here! Two store owners were very informative and nice. I got some raw & smooth crystals and a 2$ grab bag with lots of small amethyst and other cool rocks. Everything was pretty much reasonably priced and it was neat looking at their collection of larger crystals. I will definitely be coming back!

I have read many of the one star reviews, and I can understand why someone might feel uncomfortable, but here is my take...I’ve been a couple of times. The first time, I found the quiet and lack of greeting odd. Yet, once you ask a question and get the owners talking, they are very friendly, helpful, and informative. Sometimes one of them seems to hover near, but I take it as them wanting to be nearby in case I need something or have a question.They have a nice selection, and things are reasonably priced- many loose stones, but also some jewelry and fossils. I will be going back.

The owners of Dixie gem are so kind. They are two brothers who were so excited to show me their favorite pieces. I work at a crystal shop in Asheville and this is genuinely one of the best crystal shops I have ever been in. The deals are phenomenal and when I come back to Greenville I am definitely going again. This place is a must go for any person that collects crystals or makes crystals into jewelry and art. I really love to wire wrap gems and I got a great deal on them here! I will be coming back.

If i could give it 0 stars i would. my friend and i went in there alone and they stared at us like absolute creeps & followed us immediately upon entering one step behind as though we were going to steal from them. i was completely prepared to give them my business but i will never be returning. they never greeted us and the store was creepily quiet. if you’re a women, do not go here alone.

This is a cute little rock shop! The owners are really friendly and knowledgeable. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I was looking for a bigger raw stone collection. Their selection of display pieces and tumbled stone is great! But I make jewelry with raw un-tumbled stones and it would have been great to have a supplier so close! But if you like interesting rocks and stones definitely check them out!

So my daughter and I went in there it was a very draft place the two men never greeted us but would follow and stare as if we was going to steal something. Idk what their problem was but we will not be back. Women should not go in there alone beware !

Walked in, just got watched like we were a part of a zoo. No help offered. We left and went to the crystal shop down town. BTW were two AA women...decked out in crystals.

The owners were so nice, and the variety of this place is amazing! It looks run down one the outside, but when you walk inside, its just like magic! I bought many fossils here myself!

Very large selection and lots of beautiful and unique pieces! I love what they have to offer and will go back there for sure the next time Im in town. The 2 men there were very helpful as well.

Very creepy, felt like we were being watched the whole time (because we were). The owners were circling us constantly. Very uncomfortable, could not stay in there for more like 5 minutes without having to leave. No greeting, no words nothing. Very strange

We wanted to shop local instead of always buying gemstones and crystals from NC and other states. We came across a WSPA News clip of Dixie Gem and rushed to get to this place in excitement as we were surprising our daughter to spend $100 on gemstones and crystals. We were never greeted by either of the owners ( twin brothers). I had to speak first and asked how are you only to get a head nod. Only 1 customer was in at the time and both brothers put their eyes on us ( me, my husband and 2 children). I am guessing we did not fit the description of their preferred customer base. Our few minutes in the store was so awkward and uncomfortable. After our daughter selected 2 miniature size pieces of calcite, we were ready to take our business elsewhere.Soft skills are a must especially when operating a business in such a diverse area and great location. This place should be a drive- by museum since the owners are so unbothered by the presence of customers. I suggest the owners go into security surveillance because they nailed it in that profession.

Brothers own this place. They are very knowledgeable about all the stones they sell. They are a little different tho. They are quiet for the most part unless you engage them in conversation or ask questions. Dont expect them to engage, but if they happen to its a rare thing.

Nice gem and rock store. The brothers who own it were nice, but I wished they talked to us more when we first entered. They waited until we were about to make our purchase before telling us about their collection. They converted an old gas station into a store. The store was air conditioned well, which is very important to me. Loved their $2 grab bags

They have some of the most unusual and rarest gems that you will find in the world and the guys are great theyre really nice. Add jewelry to have gemstones Im summer rough summer smooth no. They have beautiful crystals and beautiful fluoride and Amethyst beds.

They have a beautiful selection and are very helpful! I had some stones I could not identify and they helped me with everything. I find that this place has good prices and some very unique pieces, its a great place to stop and learn something new as well.

Great experience! I took my grandson and the two owners took a great deal of time explaining fossil history to us. We bought shark teeth and polished stones. My grandson ask about sharks the rest of the day. I personally don’t know where else you can find a selection like this is Greenville. I saw a lot of reviews about an uncomfortable atmosphere, well it’s a rock store owned by people who know a lot about geology, it’s not a Starbucks.

Ive honestly spent way too much money here. I come whenever I have some extra cash and a little time. Theyre amazing for both metaphysical believers, those looking for jewellery, and the general gem and stone lover. Be warned theyre closed on Monday! The two brothers who own this store are quiet and very sweet and know exactly what theyre doing. The merchandise is different every time I come and theres always new things to pine after and make the occasional splurge on. Some larger or rarer pieces have large prices, but they also offer smaller pieces for $1 and even have a large bin of small 20-cent stones. My only complaint is I always end up spending more than Id intended because they have so many wonderful pieces. Even for those without much interest, its fun to come see the fossils and ammonites and maybe look at some of the jewellery and brooches. Perfect for both the small and big buyer.

Live this place for gems minerals and fossils. Two fellas are the sweetest and most intelligent guys. You couldnt ask for a better place seriously

I really enjoy going in here. The store is unique in many ways. It has a personal touch that can only happen with many people who know each other working together to provide a service to the community, no computers are used, folks. That matters.

Great prices but the guys that run it dont seem very talkative to people

Love the outside look of the shop, very retro which you dont see too often. However, once I walked into the store it was very silent, no music, nothing, just very awkward silence. Plus, the people who worked there didnt even say a word which made me quite uncomfortable, I also wasnt impressed on how the interior of the store looked. They have a lot of nice jewelry, gems, and minerals, but the display of the inside was just poor. I ended up buying three healing crystals, I will most likely never set foot in that shop again.

When I lived in Florida, I looked most forward to getting to go to Dixie Gems each time I could visit Greenville. Not only were the prices always much lower than I expected, but the variety of items was really exciting. The owners look like they must be brothers, and are such likeable fellows. Cant say this about other stores Ive been in, but the two of them have a lot to do with why shopping there make hunting new rocks an even better feeling. I cant wait to get back there again!

Just recently stopped by there with my mother because we both have an interest in gems and minerals. The place doesnt look very “fancy”, inside and out, but they had a good selection of gems judging by the pictures and the amount of 5-star reviews made it seem promising.After stepping in for less than five minutes, I cannot believe this place has so many high ratings. One star for the nice selection of genuine gemstones, but the owners never said a word to us, even when my mother gave them a cheerful “good morning”, and one of them followed us around at a distance and stared at us like he expected us to rob them blind.I think I speak for both of us when I say that we felt very uncomfortable there, on top of completely unwelcome. I am very disappointed and we will not be going back there again.

Great selection of minerals, fossils, jewelry, coins, and other items at low prices. There have been several times that I was looking for something in particular, so I asked the owners if they had it, and they either had it on a shelf or in the back. They are a real rock shop, not a tourist trap.

Well this is a nice little place to visit owned by two brothers. The guys who own it are very informative, and very friendly. If youre ever open Greenville and passed by this place you should stop and check it out.

I have always wanted to go here for years. Then when I get the chance, the people who worked there never said a word to me. Ive seen bar bouncers with more people skills. But what really topped it off was how they followed you everywhere like you were going steal something. Wont be going back.

Growing up just around the corner Ive always thought of Dixie Gem as a cornerstone of Greenville. Wonderful shop, extremely friendly owners who are willing to chat about all the amazing rocks and minerals they have! My mother loves to take her grandkids down there to look around and they always have a great time (and naturally theres something each of them just HAS to have!). Definitely a great place to visit if you want to look at some neat rocks and minerals.

I went here a while ago to sell some stone jewelry, and this place had been recommended. However when I went there and inquired about the jewelry the guy gave me a face and said no because they dont have a licence for it. Thats fine, but what is not fine is what happened next. I started looking around while the same guy stood stared at me. Then he followed me. Just because I wanted to sell some stuff doesnt mean Im going to steal somthing or that you have to follow in silence 1 foot behind me everywhere. I spent about 2 minutes in there before leaving, because I honestly couldnt tell if the guy was going to call the police or grope me. The only thing keeping this from a 1 star review is that they do have a very nice selection of stone products. Just dont go there alone.

The best place in greenville for gemstones, jewelry, gold panning supplies, fossils, cool trinkets, rock polishing equipment ans materials, or some highly informative local and global geological information. The prices here are beyond a bargain. The quality surpasses the pricing. The two gentlemen owners are very kind and very helpful. They have so many wonderful and fascinating gemstones, minerals, and fossils on display you feel like you are viewing some incredible Smithsonian exhibit. The store is neat clean and organized and very easy to maneuver. You will need to probably go around the store four or five times- slowly, to catch the majority of the amazing and beautiful specimens, cut gemstones, fossils, rough, and any other amazing high quality items they have for sale. I recommend this olace with all my heart. Dont pay downtown orices before you go here first. Im saving you at least 25% and you will be much happier because you will have at least that much more to spend.

Had some nice gems cut in Gatlinburg and wanted to get them set as dangling earrings. I got them set here, and the results are horrible. They were supposed to be set in sterling silver but it obviousley is not. It’s already turning a dull color whereas sterling silver should be bright/shiny. They haven’t even been worn, still in the box 2 days after getting them, and they already dull. Not only is the “sterling” low quality, but they didn’t even make the earrings the same length! The quality of their work is definitely sub-par. I wouldn’t have accepted them if I had been the one picking them up, but my fiancé went to pick them up. They will be receiving a visit from me, and will see if they will fix their mistake. I will update my review based on their response.

This place is a diamond in the rough. Initially it’s slightly tired seeming with a second hand store feeling but thier selection and prices are very good. They have a lot of gemstones, tons of second hand bead and stone jewelry, some stone beads for making malas (not a huge selection), and other trinkets and interesting things. The store feels a little old fashioned - to me, in a good way. The owners are quirky (I believe they’re brothers) but very nice and knowledgeable if you ask them questions. I’m glad to have this store in Greenville and I’ll definitely be back.

CreepyI was forewarned with a few of the reviews so instead of being angry just disappointed. I walk in and turn to the right to look at the specimens there and as I make my way around I look up to see that one of the guys was standing there just watching me, when I looked up he walked away. At one point I had to cross paths in the small store and I stopped to let one of them go by, no acknowledgment of my presence at all. I completed the whole tour of the store in silence without being acknowledged the entire time. Ive been collecting for years and could easily have dropped $400 on a few items in there. Instead I walked out. Guess Im still not welcome in Dixie...
