Update: I was able to get an excellent resolution by working with Chris who was able to rectify every issue and make good on the Gates promise! We are satisfied with both our Mazda 6 and our Nissan Murano!I am a returning customer and I have sent plenty of friends and family to Gates including my husband, I should have read the latest reviews before I made my latest purchase. More stress than what its worth; waited days to pick my vehicle up only for the same issues discussed during the test drive that they would be more than happy to take care of to still be present when I picked the vehicle up!!! I’m just going to leave it at that because the situation just doesn’t make any sense!

I used the express oil change service they offer. Cant beat a $23 oil change! However, I only give a 4-star review because I was told it would be 1.5 hours before my car would be pulled in and it was done in 45 minutes instead. I almost left because of the time wait because I have a 3 month old baby with me. At least it worked out this time but they need to work on their estimates for waiting time.

Recently purchased a 2018 Chevy Traverse and I couldnt be happier. Jerry Gross was a rockstar and got me into exactly what I needed and got me in and out in under 3 hours. I will definitely be coming back for my next purchase. I was unable to take the car home the day i bought it due to a repair bulletin put out by Chevy but they made sure I had a nice loaner while I waited. I just took delivery and am honestly smiling ear to ear, this experience was amazing thanks to Gates. This was my first car buying experience and they were there every step of the way from signing to delivery keeping me updated the whole time. I was a little impatient at times due to waiting for the service to be finished but Gates cant be blamed for it as there is a global shortage on parts, chips, and pretty much everything for every industry. Instead of skipping things to get me the car faster they made sure it was done right and honestly I appreciate that very much. Id rather have it right, than right now. The Manager Ralph stopped in when I picked up the vehicle to make sure I was happy with my purchase and to clear up a few questions I had and he put my mind at ease. Bought a truck from Andrew Claeys and couldn’t be more happy. Andrew is hard working, transparent, educational and an all around great guy that wants to get you into the right vehicle for you. I came in already approved for a loan but Ralph found a new lender with an extremely better rate (almost a full percent off). Car wouldn’t start so I asked Gates of Granger to check battery & alternator. Replacement of BOTH was recommended. Took car to Batteries Plus for a second opinion. Battery bad; alternator held steady at 13 volts which is on lower side of normal when idling. Replaced battery only; problem solved & saved $650. Gates misdiagnosed a perfectly working alternator. Always get a second professional opinion!

I highly recommend NOT using Gates Of Granger service department, about 8 months ago on a Wednesday I took my car there for a routine oil change, to only end up back there Thursday AND Friday. They had messed up the SAME oil change twice causing my engine to not have oil in it for 2 in a half days. Friday upon “fixing” the problem and professionally trying to tell me what happened without saying the employee was just careless and I say careless because it happened twice with the same oil change that’s just carelessness, they tell me the next couple of oil changes are on them for all the trouble. After that I decided it was best to trade that car in. In June I go for a routine oil change before leaving on vacation and coincidentally they don’t recall the free oil changes they offered me for my troubles last time. I then refresh their memories of the situation and did not pay for that that oil change and everything was ok THAT time. I go yesterday to get an oil change which is suppose to be my next free one that I winded up paying for and they recommend rotating the tires so I tell them to go ahead and do that. After getting home yesterday I look over my tires and my black rims are now all scratched and scraped up. Yet another careless employee worked on my vehicle. I called to make them aware of the situation so it doesn’t happen to someone else’s vehicle and I get a thanks for calling, I will let them know… Needless to say I will not be going back.

Bought 2016 dodge mini van. Drove 2 hrs to check out. When viewed. Just traded in. Broken windshield. Broke front spoiler. Both replaced. Told sales person after test drive, needs front alignment and inside massive detailed. Went back 2 weeks later after. Windshield was replaced and front spoiler was replaced. Cleaning inside and outside very,very poor. No front end alignment. Signed on contract yesterday. Heard from sales manager will honor verbal agreement. Van is suppose to be delivered today with repairs, still waiting. Will not recommend any gates or will be back for another car.

I recently bought a car that had spots of sap all over it. Gates was going to buff it out for me. It took them 4 days to get this done. I had to request a loaner after 2 days because they did not offer one. I also had to call every day to see if it was done because no one communicated with me. They did get the sap off but my windows were all spotted with wax when I got it back. There were also spots on the hood where the wax was still on there. I thought it was very unprofessional, especially having my car almost a full week.

Made our visit easy, pleasant, and assured. Warranty is unmatched by everyone else. I couldnt say not interested. Price was right. Id say they worked with me. But there was no struggle getting our new car. We spent a couple hours here... And will spend a couple more when we decide to purchase another.

Have replaced the headlights 5x and have owned the car less than a year. This is a major safety hazard and any normal functioning person would recognize that replacing headlamps 5x in less than a year that there is an electrical problem that is the cause. The initial replacement happened 2 months after having the vehicle. If the car was in good working order when sold to me then why I am making replacements to the car less than 2 months later. Which I clearly demonstrated my own ability to take care of the car because I have replaced the tires and upgraded from the trash ones Gates provided, new windshield wipers, and other regular maintenance to which I have handle on my own no problems. It is problematic when Gates fails to do anything to remedy the problem other than me paying out of pocket to have the car fixed from an issue that originated before the car was in my possession. Clearly I am not going to pay you even more money to fix something that should have been addressed to begin with or disclosed as a potential problem. Unfathomable that they even had the audacity to ask me to pay for the repairs as well. Additionally, why would I have the very people who sold me the damaged vehicle repair the damage so they can do more shady work and/or damage my car further to which would all be on my dime. I will NEVER purchase a car under good faith that these car dealerships are disclosing all of the problems my next vehicle purchase will only occur when I can bring my own mechanic to take it apart from top to bottom prior to purchasing the vehicle. It is more than disgusting that due to one sale representative failing to give a proper disclosure that I am having to purchase a new extended warranty which should have also been presented with the car and pay for the repairs on top of a 5th set of head lights which have all been $75. Disgusting company that thinks it is more than acceptable to not disclose the right information even at the risk of jeopardizing the safety of a young mom and 1 year old little girl. I will not be purchasing cars in South Bend again there are no regulations or accountability from the dealers in this area. The man thought it was a good idea to mention how long they have been in business as if that is a good indication that they would not scam people. Quite the contrary in my eyes it just shows that due to people such as myself getting defeated due to the lack of professionalism to handle the situation in an ethical manner many people just never return for more business and no one ever sees their complaint so businesses like Gates get to continue to victimize more people. Just because you have been doing something for 90 years does not mean it is right, you just got away with it. It is just disturbing that money is more important than the safety of two individuals and operating a business with integrity. Equally disgusting that they have employees that try to insult customers by suggesting to the customer that they were negligent for how many miles were put on the car. When the point of a car is to drive which therefore puts miles on the car. Clearly do not buy from a car lot that encourages you to leave the car in your driveway and not drive it. I was trying to buy a vehicle so I could have reliable transportation for my daughter and I, not a safety-hazard lawn ornament. The amount of miles your employee was trying to insult me about was put on 26,000 by first owner/1 yr or less and 40,000 by me/ 1 year or less) and in the same amount of time by the previous owner Gates got the car from this still should not justify electrical issues. I will be doing my research before I make any more decisions or repairs concerning the vehicle definitely do not trust you guys as I am beginning to question the purchase in its entirety. I am not going to make more of an investment with you guys to have it wasted so I will be consulting other places before I make a final decision especially if I am paying for the repairs myself your “solution” offers me no benefit just gives you more money.

During these tough times in 2021 trying to find a new vehicle has been difficult and we did not want to buy a used vehicle. However at Gates Toyota they found us a 2018 4Runner with 24,000 miles and was very well taken care of so we purchased the truck. So far it has been fantastic. I will also say that because of Gatess life time warranty on the drivetrain made it a no brainer as far as I was concerned. Our sales guy Andrew was awesome and I did get a great deal even though dealers are not giving any deals, Gates really stepped up. With the lifetime warranty on any vehicle you buy from them under 100,000 miles it is the only dealer I will buy from, from now on. Excellent work. Through in their diagnosis & making sure all the components in the coolant & transmission were looked at after the radiator internally cracked & coolant was mixing with transmission fluid.
