I called Tom on Monday afternoon and he was at my house by Wednesday. My issue was a jammed door caused by a minor vehicular impact to the external part of the door (lady drivers, am i right gents?). Tom was over at my house at 245 and done by 330. He not only addressed my issue but also did some basic PM work on both doors (!!!), after which I could tell a clear difference in the functionality in both doors. He also advised me on a route to replace both these doors with a single 17 foot door. I havent even had the chance to have Tom over to work on my door... I called originally with an issue. Once I told him that the garage door was Chamberlain, he kindly informed me that I should call the company and troubleshoot with them. He explained that Chamberlain was a great company and would help me out quickly. I did that, got the part they suggested and thought the problem was going to be fixed. After putting in the new part, the problem persisted. I called Tom again because I didnt think Chamberlain was going to be able to help me a second time. I explained in one sentence what the issue was and Tom responded its your sensor... He was willing to come on the weekend to put in the part for me because he didnt want my garage door to be broken any longer. He also told me that I should call Chamberlain to tell them the part they suggested didnt work and that they would probably give me a refund. I did that and now the sensor is being sent to me, free of charge. Tom has lost out on 2 opportunities to earn money because of his honesty and kindness. If ever an issue comes up with my garage door again, Im calling Tom!

In the end, we got the job replacing our door spring done and are happy with the work--the car is in the garage now. We are happy with the cost and being relieved of the hassle of fixing it ourselves.

Tom did a very good job with replacing my garage door. He had very good price compared with other companies I called. He even fixed/re-conditioned my garage door opener for free. Tom was very honest and good at what he does. Hes been doing it for a long time and enjoys the work and helping people. But keep in mind from time to time, you need to be patient with him. He may postpone the appointment several hours or even for a day or two, and for multiple times. If you are flexible with your schedule, and can wait around, Tom does a very good service eventually. Like one of the reviewer said - worth the wait.

I had a broken spring and decided to fix it myself. After doing some research, I realized there were many different sized springs for garage doors... who knew. Anyway, after sizing my spring I called several local well known garage door companies only to be told it would take them a couple days to get them for me. I checked online also, and could get them, it would be a few days as well. Knowing we live in the 2nd largest city in the state I figured there had to be a place that had them. Checked google one more time and found “Universal door”.I called the number and Tom answered. He said he had the springs and asked when I wanted to pick them up. I was there 20 minutes after the phone call and got the springs and bearings I needed. He works out of his house, so be prepared if you do go there to get parts.Tom was a breeze to deal with, very helpful and knowledgeable.

After reading the reviews, I decided to call since it seemed to have great reviews. I called on Monday and spoke to Tom. He didnt have anything available on Monday, but could be there at 9 am on Tuesday. My sister was going to meet him since I had to go to work. At 10:30 am, she called me and wondered what was going on because Tom had not shown up yet. I called and he told me that he was just finishing his cereal as if that explains why he was an hour and a half late. I explained that we had a 9 am appointment and my sister was waiting, but had an appointment at noon. He apologized and said that he would give me a good deal because of the mistake. His new time was between 1:30-2:00. Again I received a call from my sister that he had not arrived and it was almost 2:30. When he did arrive shortly after that, he did complete the job. What really upset me was that he had told me the amount on Monday of $205 since I wouldnt be there. His deal for being late not once, but twice was charging me $215! I would avoid this business at all cost.

After getting a ridiculous quote from Precision Door and putting down $75 for a quote, I gave Tom a call. He was professional and honest with me and was a fraction of the price I was quoted from other companies. Tom worked the entire time and wouldn’t leave until the job was done, and he did a phenomenal job!! I have already recommended Tom to my friends and I won’t use another company. He’s got my business and should have yours too.

I called Tom on 6/16 to schedule a garage door opener replacement on 6/19. He advised he would be at my house at around 3-4 pm and that he would call when he was 15 minutes away. At 4:30 pm I hadnt heard anything so I called and Tom; he let me know he wouldnt be able to come. Reason given was that it was too hot that day. He advised he would re-schedule for Monday 6/22 between 9-10am. On Monday at around 4pm he called and said he was delayed due to other jobs and he would be able to make it Wednesday or Thursday. He was at least able to refer me to other companies.

Tom did a great job installing a new (rebuilt) opener on one of our doors and replacing a spring on the other. We got a really great deal on the rebuild and Tom gave us a lot of information about the equipment he was installing and how to use and maintain it. I should have called Tom so much sooner. Typically I’m a DIY kind of person, but my nearly 300lb wooden double garage door is a job I should have left to a pro. I had some damage to my garage door and I called Tom at Universal Door for some assistance. I wanted to know if the door could be repaired, or if a new door would be required. I was very specific in my expectations of how the repaired product needed to look. He tried hard to repair the door to my satisfaction, but he knew he was not going to be able to make that happen. After a couple of hours of work, we agreed to fall back on the bail out cost that we had agreed on which was a very fair price. I am very happy with the current result. It is about 85% better than it was and his repair saved me the cost of a new door.Tom is a hard working guy that if given a chance will take care of your door problems at a very competitive price. I have used Tom for years at our home and rental property. Yesterday, he helped troubleshoot several problems with our older garage door. Tom replaced a bracket on one side and a cable on the other. He also aligned and re-tensioned the door and lubricated the rails. It works smoothly and his rates were reasonable as always.

I called Tom this morning after our garage would not open. He asked a few questions, and knew right away what was wrong. A few hours later he was at my house fixing the problem (snapped spring). Thankfully, he was able to take care of it for a very reasonable price (originally I was thinking the whole door would need to be replaced, so this was a relief), and was also able to fix a few things the original installer did not do correctly. The spring installed was clearly superior to the original one, and I felt that he took extra time to make sure the whole door was in good working order (not just fixing the problem and jetting out). I would absolutely suggest anyone call him for quick service that is fairly priced, but more importantly thorough and solid.

One of the springs on our garage door broke and my vehicle was inside. I could not get the door open. Tom came out the same day and fixed it quickly, hes a nice guy and did a great job. He made some recommendations on how to prolong the life of the door, and even cleaned out the bugs and spiderwebs from the garage door opener. Nice guy, does a great job, and came the same day... thats a 5 star in my book!

When I called Tom he seemed to be in a bit of a rush, which I dont fault him for at all. My old garage door was dying quickly and it was time to replace it rather than try to repair it. He took my information and told me it would be 3-3.5 weeks before he could get to my door, not a big deal, especially for the price he quoted me.3.5 weeks later I had not heard from him, so I called, just to see what the story was. He claimed that he was just about to call me, and set up a time to come to my house to verify dimensions etc. for an install a few days later.He never showed up and never called. I called the and he was very apologetic, and said he would be there the following day between 3-5. He never showed or called. He finally showed up some time after 5:30 and left his card in the door as no one was around due to previous commitments.Once again I called him, and he was very apologetic, and swore he would be there the next day. Once again, no show, no call.After that I decided that I was not interested in chasing people down and begging them to work for me. I am sure Tom would have done a fine job, if he ever showed up. He may know garage doors, but he does not know customer service.I called Environmental Door and had a good customer service experience. The equivalent door (the same gauge steel) was $100 more, but I didnt have to nag them to come out to my house, and they kept the appointments that they set.

Tom is terrific - he tried to help me fix the garage door myself during our initial conversation, but when he mentioned wire cutters - I knew I wasnt willing to take that on. He came over with the possibility of needing to replace the electronic eye through an additional phone call, but his honesty is such that he merely made a few adjustments, oiled everything up and I was charged a very reasonable service call fee. Id recommend him to everyone I know.

Tom tried to help us over the phone when our garage door stopped working by recommending an inexpensive belt. If that had been the only issue, it would have cost us only $13 instead of hundreds of dollars that another company could have charged us to come out and fix a discontinued garage door opener. Unfortunately there was another issue, but Tom came by as soon as we were available and not only fixed that issue, but also did a few tune up extras that got our door moving more smoothly and quieter than ever! And the price was less than half of what it would have cost to replace the opener, which was the alternative. Hopefully it lasts several more years as its working great now! As for punctuality...I told Tom I was flexible on the time but even when he was less than an hour behind schedule he called twice to be sure I knew what the status was.

Tom replaced my two stall garage door springs. He was honest and delivered when he said he would. He also upgraded my door with longer springs for the same price as the competitor would do for standard springs. He noticed my other garage door had a gap and and was a little rough when opening and shutting. So he threw in some basic maintenance free of charge! Rather than replace our out-dated (parts discontinued by manufacturer) opener with an entire new unit, Tom helped me fix the old circuit board by scrounging up parts from scrap units he had. Total price of approx. 450.00 later to complete job was for 2 huge 60 springs with labor but had to be ordered with a truck load and indicated that, 2 weeks went by Enrique called demanded that job be done asap the same day! 2 honest delays when I said I will get job completed next day after labor day he said forget the job ill find another co this job was a 60% discounted off normal pricing with 100% better product. Enrique backed out of a Binding Contract!

I was looking for some springs so I could replace them myself. I called Tom looking for a couple of replacement springs for my 18 x 8 garage door. I called another place earlier and they did not have them in stock and they were asking $190 for the pair. He sold the pair to me for half the price. When I spoke with Tom, he helped me get the correct info to match the springs, including how to get the spring wire size. When I showed up to pickup the springs he also told me how many windings the springs would need for my door size. Very helpful. And yes Tom, I survived the process without a hospital visit and everything is working great again.

Horrible experience, he came and quoted us for some repairs on some springs for us. Gave us a quote for the repairs and we agreed on it. He said he could completely replace the springs for a certain amount and that it would take 1 week to order them, as long as we put a deposit down. Put the deposit down and three weeks later still nothing. Asked for our deposit back and he says No, because I did extra work for you and I should have charged you more. We have a signed receipt for what we agreed on and will be following up on it. Very horrible customer experience.

Friendly service, but...Tom came right away (within an hour) to get me out of my garage after I hit the bottom of my garage door with the top of my car.If you are looking to get a spring replaced or a chain undone or if there is a minor mechanical issue, Tom is great. But if you need to get your garage door replaced or need some major repair, he is not the right person to contact.While Tom helped for the immediate need and a temporary fix, he said hed come back the next morning for a major repair. We called multiple times to get our door fixed. They said theyd be over in about two weeks. Its been about 4 or 5 months and no one has showed up.

Tom told me he would be here at 4:00 pm. He was almost 5 hours late after telling me numerous times he was on his way. I sent him on his way when he showed up just before 9:00 pm. I would not count on him.

Very knowledgable, quick, and well priced.
