I apologize if I cant give five stars, I just have to give stars based on my collective memory of other stores that Ive seen. This Target is five stars compared to the one in downtown. It has way more variety than that such as home improvement options, clothes, a bit of bedding, etc. But, still compared to the Target stores that I have seen in other towns, and even on roads, this one is mediocre. I dont know why it appears that the chain stores in Santa Barbara are shabby... They may improve in future in which case I may change my review, but as of now, they are 3.5 stars at the best...

Its hard to know whether to review on the brand, the location, the products, or the people. So Ill review them all.The Brand. Target has come a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG way since 1902 when it was first established as Goodfellow Dry Goods. Who knew Target had been around so long? The incorporation of groceries, home goods, designer clothing, and more has made Target a one-stop-shop for many people, including me. Theyve had their ups and, for sure, downs with certain policies that I have adamantly disagreed with, but overall theyve come a long way.The Location. Goleta has been SCREAMING for a store better than K-Mart for decades. We are super happy that Goleta finally has a place to go for most things at a (fairly) reasonable price.The Products. Most of the items you buy at Target are fair-to-mid quality and about the same for the price. Some things you just know youll use three times and toss. The variety of products is good, if you can find them at this particular store. This is where we lose some points. This store has far too many EMPTY shelves! Whats going on? I still have to go to Ventura to buy things? Cmon Target! Get those shelves stocked! Youre in IV for Heavens sake, a college town brimming with students needing part-time work!The People. Well we lose a star here for sure. I have only met one or two people who wear a smile. Most of the employees look like they are on death row waiting for the sun to go down. My goodness, but if you arent happy where youre planted, then go plant yourself elsewhere! Customers dont need saggy, discouraged, depressed faces or answers when were there trying to shop for...mostly things we dont need. So heres a tip: SMILE! Itll make you AND us feel better :D

I don’t know what’s wrong with this store (management, staff, or corporate), but it’s had consistent problems with its stock and general cleanliness ever since it first opened. Normally it’s just totally empty shelves for days at a time, which is annoying, but not a dealbreaker. But today I got home from shopping to find that the eggs I just bought expired eleven days ago and the milk a week ago. I wouldn’t think I would have to worry about these sort of things at a major retailer. This is more something I would expect of a dingy gas station on the side of a desolate highway, and it makes me wonder what else I’ve bought here in the past that wouldn’t pass health codes. Probably fine for home goods and the like (though these are outrageously priced as well), but don’t bother with much else. Poorly priced food that’s half-rotten sold in a store that is far below the standards of any other Target I’ve ever been in. Not worth your time.

Excellent addition in Goleta. Very big space and a lot of options for each department. Excellent location and ample parking space.

Poor customer service. No leadership whatsoever, and lack of professionalism. Untrained staff who act like they’re doing you a favor. Very disappointed!

Bathrooms were disgusting. Worst experience at a target, will never go here again.

Yay finally open!

A exploitive company Today I had the worst experience at this particular target. I was checking my self out on the self check out and security guard approached me and ask to see inside the backpack that I had just bought. I said ok because I knew there was nothing inside. I feel stereotyped and targeted because I’m Hispanic. The security guard Tyler didn’t even apologize. His excuse was he wanted to make sure there was no trash or other items inside the bag. It wasn’t even a school backpack it was a fashion small bag. This is upsetting because I love going to Target. After this experience I don’t feel like shopping at Target anymore.

Staff not very helpful, just the other day I went in with more than 30 minutes until close while looking for a certain battery that showed in stock at the store online. The attendant said she couldn’t help me, so I asked if she can walkie someone else who could or if I could ask her manager for help in finding some inventory that may be in the back and not on the sales floor. Then I was told that she would be off in 5 minutes and that everyone else in the store would be clocking out soon too but it wasn’t even 9:30 pm yet and the store closes at 10 pm. I left very confused and found them at another store but customer service is below par.

The store is beautiful. A lot of stock workers but not one said anything.The task was more important. One person did acknowledge me because I looked her directly in the eyes and smiled.She did smile back. The reason I went in to look at tree toppers. I could look at samples but shelves empty.The Best part of the visit was the young man at self checkouts. WOW are you lucky to have him. Will come back again.Happy holidays

Nice new store with a clean, modern layout, but it was very hard to find some simple items like men’s hair products, which didn’t seem to be stocked. Some other selections seemed to be limited as well. Hopefully they’ll be able to work the kinks out in the next few weeks after being open for a while.

George at Customer service was super super helpful! He went on and beyond to understand my needs. Because a cashier lady made an error on my purchase and it was so easy for her to say “just take your receipt to customer service cause this is not my area...People should be trained like him.!! Thank You George for making this an easy transaction!!

Watch out for the employee, Noe. He has terrible customer service skills. Stares at woman disgustingly. Hes a creep.

Rude staff harassed me about my service animal

Great retail shopping experience. Easy on line browsing. Shop on line, store pick up logistics could be better. Should have a single line for order pick up and return respectively.

I just want to say that while in line the cashier was polite enough to give the lady checking out a computer lesson. Not sure why the idiot thought it was part of the cashiers job to do that but the cashier was very cordial and professional. It was about 5:15 on March 6th and the only not self serve checkout open. Kudos to that cashier cuz I would of lost it.

One one hand, they have a lot of useful stuff available for the community at respectable prices. On the other hand their management is pretty darn sloppy. My girlfriend works there and shes had to talk to the management 6-7 times because they continue to screw up her schedule in the same way and stress her out. Also they havent paid some of their contractors according to another review? They gotta step their game up.

Easy checkout, good wine selection!

Never buy an electronic in this target, I PAID 1, 239 dollars for an iPhone 11 Pro Max and the electronic guy gave me the phone locked when I was supposed to get the phone unlocked since I paid the whole price of the phone. The next day I went back and he was just ignoring me and my parents. Saying we were barking at him, when we were simply reporting why the phone was locked. He was super disrespectful and racist. So we made the right decision to return the iphone. Please never buy an Apple product from this target!!

Target Store is Open and all is well for them I see..but they have not paid my company for more than 200,000 of steel work on that site. Must be nice to be collecting revenue and not paying the subcontractors who made it happen.

The cashier working here Rebecca should lose her job she’s always rude and unhelpful to customers I happened to get to the checkout at the exact same time as another customer and she was rude to me for no reason I ended up letting the customer go ahead but she accused me of cutting someone. Rebecca needs to get fired she should not be representing a company like target

Bought TV. TV was defective. Returned TV, and asked how to get a new one. They said they were now sold out and that I should go to Costco. Will do, thanks.

I must agree with the low star reviews. Under stocked, under staffed, undertrained, underwhelming. Imagine if you will a regular Target - how glorious it is, how it makes you want to spend all the money. This one is drab, depressing, empty, devoid of shoppers, goods and employees. None of us want to be there. The stock doesn’t even want to be there. Please send your team to check out a normal thriving Target so they can bring this one to life.

I am a 38 year old man, and I was looking at the legos, and these young college punks were looking at the legos too, and they were cursing, and it totally ruined my experience.

I’ve been here several times since it opened. I’ve always had great service from both the floor staff and the cashiers. The store is neat with well organized displays; the cosmetics and home decor areas are especially great. I was also pleasantly surprised to see many sprcialty food items in the grocery section. I’m very pleased and thankful to have this Target store in town; it’s wonderful to have another option for consumers in this area as we were really lacking before; it’s nice not to have to drive all the way to Ventura to find a birthday present for a child’s party for example.

Great new addition to the Goodland. Spacious aisles, well-stocked shelves, courteous employees, and a tremendous selection of everything you need.

I enjoy the store though I don’t go often I still enjoy I might even apply for a job

No selection on mens/Boys foot wear, maybe 4 shelves for both. Not enough variety like other stores Ive been to and seems cluttered.

Overall poor customer service, items on shelves that “cannot be sold”, and coupons that are not valid. Generally slow service and a lack of proficient staff.
