Excellent, excellent, excellent - Jeff knows how to run a coffee shop! They have the most reasonably priced and tastiest coffee in town (in my humble opinion), as well as an ample selection of baked goods and some food items. I havent gotten a bad review yet from any of my friends whom Ive taken to this shop.The vibe is great for relaxing, socializing, and studying. Many indoor/outdoor seating options are available, and they always have great music in the air. The interior is decorated with a charming selection of local artwork, as well as a variety of plants.Wifi is available, and their operating hours beat anyone else in Golden. Want a cup of coffee? You gotta try out this place.

I love the Higher Grounds Cafe. Delicious coffee and espresso, toasted bagels and pastries. Good prices, very friendly service and an outdoor deck to hang out on that I swear I could spend the rest of my life on. Leave Starbucks behind for now, they’re everywhere. There’s only one Higher Grounds Cafe and it’s right here!

Both times Ive been in, the same female barista has been unnecessarily rude to me, even though I have been friendly. The second time she immediately stared me down and was short with me. I want to support this place because its local, but I likely wont be back. The coffee was decent, but the space is cramped, the WIFI is weak and the bathroom kinda blows, old and dirty.

This ruined coffee at any other place because no place could ever top this one. It is truly amazing and we want to drive all the way back to Colorado from Ohio just to go here again. Their strawberries and cream flavor was amazing!!

I just started working in Golden, so I decided to check out a different coffee shop instead of the big brands. I walked in everything was clean and I was greeted right away. I asked the cashier what he recommended. He had good product knowledge. My coffee was so good. Definitely will be back.

I went to Higher Grounds Cafe today and I LOVED it! What a great place. I asked the barrista what a good combo of hot chocolate and chai latte would be and he combined the two for me for a fantastic drink. This place has a friendly staff and nice customers - a fabulous place to be!

One of the very few bright spots that we found in Golden on our stay there. Cashier was excellent, and the product was good.

As tourists we wanted to try a small coffee shop because they are usually the best. But not this one, 20 min in line for a chai latte that it was not even ok.

Excellent beans and a good barista make for a better than average coffee experience. I did not expect to walk into such a good latte but I am glad I did.

I was a student at the School of Mines for over 5 years, and have been coming here almost that entire time. Being a caffeine-fiend engineering student and having grown up in Miami, Im very very picky when it comes to my coffee. This place was a very short walk from my 2nd apartment in town and it changed EVERYTHING. The all-nighters, near-all-nighters, and rough early mornings of my senior and first grad school years were sustained by this café. You want something simple? Done. You want a crazy latte with all the bells and whistles? Done, they even got an incredible seasonal menu. You want good tea? Done. I havent been to a chain coffee shop in ages. The quality of coffee and tea selection here is superb, and the pastries are local. The service is excellent as well, with the place being tidy and clean and the baristas courteous. Especially Nate and Jeff, who are here basically every morning as far as I can tell, who know every regular customer who walks through the door. Best café in town, period.

I feel like the employees should try a little bit harder to put out top quality drinks with Starbucks next door but it was just mediocre. Consistency is key when it comes to coffee!

This coffee shop is cute and off main street in Golden so it feels a little more like a nook than the other coffee and tea places here. I appreciate the unique art, they make great beverages and also have a stellar tea selection.

2 stars for the cold brew I’m currently trying to get through.That being said, I’ve had decent coffee from Higher Grounds. It’s a super cozy atmosphere that is always displaying local art. They also have a cool patio that over looks the south end of town. The baristas are super nice and get your drinks out quickly. We’ve taken friends who were visiting here and it was great for that.Better than Starbucks, but definitely not Pangea.

This coffee shop is down the road from my home and is my go-to! Everything there is serviced with love and near perfection. This is my opinion, but I love to sit on the pation and eat a breakfast burrito.

Seattleite here. Im pretty sure my body maybe 25% coffee...Higher grounds barista was friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered a cortado (off menu) and he knew exactly what to do. The beans were delightful and complex. Highly recommend.

Visited this lovely coffee shop while in town for a work event for a few days.I ordered a coffee and realized I had swapped out my hotel key card with my credit card in my wallet so had no money on me. I offered to run back to my hotel to get my card but the nice barista said not to worry about it and that I could come back later to pay for it. Thanks for helping out a woman just in need of her caffeine!Nice people, good coffee!

Very calm and quiet coffee shop at the end of downtown Golden. The owner was a very nice gentleman who made good conversation and also the beverages we got were very nice. Many were even working out of the cafe as it provided a peaceful environment. Was just passing by the area, but if I happen to be in the neighborhood again, will definitely stop by.

This particular day was busy, but the server still managed to bring out drinks at a reasonable time.

Simple, ordinary coffee place hidden in14th street. Ordinary drink but not ordinary service. Friendly people and warmth place to take a sip.

Stopped by after a hike through Golden Gate Canyon. Great selection of teas and coffee drinks. Well developed menu. I wouldve appreciated one or two comfortable chairs in which to relax, but I found a table that fit my needs.

The coffee is good, the price is average. There are a number of choices within a block, and I wouldnt recommend higher grounds above any others. It can be a bit noisy in there, so other shops may be better for studying, but for quick coffee its fine. Staff are friendly and chatty.

Went here while we had a street shut down to load roof units from a crane truck. Service was super friendly AND they let me use the bathroom before i bought coffee. Coffe was excellent. Not bitter and overly strong like other places. Also has wifi. Was busy yet still quiet enough to have a conversation. Very respectful customers. Best coffee shop ive been to in Colorado. Prices were less than i expected. Barely more than the gas station coffee i usually have. Highly recommend this cafe. Hope we work that area soon. I will definitely return as soon as possible.
