I cant remember a holiday without Nichols Chocolates - I was glad this Valentines would be one of those sweet and special days, thanks to Nichols! Sadly recent times and circumstances have made all things difficult. Upon googling I saw that you have to call and order ahead. I knew that would take some effort as they a rightfully so popular. I got lucky on my 40th redial. Jan took my order on Wednesday and I picked up on Friday. A simple speakeasy-ish knock on the door and my order was in hand. It was well worth the effort and patience as we all look for the sweet spots in these challenging times. Thanks Nichols Chocolates for always being there!

Been to Nichols twice. Never again. First time I felt the inside help cared little that I was there and weren’t too enthusiastic to introduce me to their variety. But I bought some candy and rate it a 3 out of 5. Chalked it up to a one time thing. Went back yesterday for some Christmas candy for my wife’s stocking. There was a line outside but no one going in. When they came out to speak with next in line we tried to ask for clarification. We Got a finger waive response to wait a moment. When they finished speaking with the customer they ignored us, turned around and closed the door. Thankfully a customer filled us in. Phone orders only. I then tried calling. Between yesterday and today, at least 15 times. I kept trying because their website provides a number for phone order and pick up. But all I got were busy signals. After repeated attempts it became clear the Phone was apparently taken off the hook rather than provide a recorded explanation for customers. Just a busy signal. Nothing on their website about no longer taking orders just a prominently displayed phone number to call for pick up orders. Thankfully there is another candy store in Gloucester.

Its simply the BEST chocolate anywhere. The proof is in the taste. It is surpassingly smooth and not overly sweet. Despite the challenges of ordering ahead of time, they couldnt have been nicer. My only critique is that the website needs to be a little more user friendly under the circumstances.

This is such a cute candy shop,.hard to miss as youre driving as its right beside the freeway. The candy is really fresh and amazing! Must visit.

We had a great time visiting. Its well worth the trip, their chocolate & candy is delicious! There is a HUGE selection of candy, chocolates, fudge and more, here, I was pleasantly surprised! Plenty of chocolates to choose from, something for everyone, dark, milk, white, with and without nuts, caramel, crispy, peanut butter, nougat, and way more still...sugarfeee chocolate, etc.... and you can buy small amounts, per piece or per pound. An employee helped us selecting what we wanted and she kindly answered each question we had. Very knowledgable and helped us. They also have prepackaged bags to grab & go too. We bought some homemade maple chunks that dissolve a bit once you start eating them and wow, very nice, Ive never tried anything like it before, they were so good. We could see some candy being made in the next room through the glass which was nice. Also, they have specialized chocolate bars for occasions which was cool to see. We stopped in on our way to the beach and it was easy to continue on our way right after. Im definitely looking forward to going back!

Cast in time... This priceless candy shop seems never to change. It was here and excellent when I was in school in the area in the early 80s. More recently, I took a group of college students to visit New England over spring break and stopped at Nichols to satisfy my own nostalgia. And the students loved it. Superb chocolate candies made on the premises. Also try the sponge candy. You may never see it anywhere else. Enjoy this little treasure of a shop while its still with us. Its the real deal.

The selection is amazing and you can get quite a bit in the half pound box. Dark and milk chocolate options for almost everything. Be prepared to have a difficult time choosing. Great views of the water outside as well. Definitely worth a trip if youre in the area.

I stopped in here yesterday after a whale watch in Gloucester and Im so happy I did. The woman working there was very friendly. She helped me choose all of my favorite candies. I ate 4 pieces on the way home to Connecticut and hid the rest of the box in my house so my husband wont eat them. Definitely the highlight at the end of a great day in Gloucester.

Ive shopped Nichols Candy for years, both in the store when I visited friends nearby, and now on-line, since I have moved away. The candy is always fresh and wonderful, and the service has always been spot on. This year they went above and beyond when they gift wrapped my selections, and shipped them the very next day! The chocolates I always order from Nichols are not available anywhere else, and they remind me of my beloved Dad who used to make these candies every Christmas.The boxes are always stuffed full and I am always thrilled with my purchase. This has become a beloved tradition for me!

Chocolates were good. Plenty of variety, theres something for everyone here. Price is by the pound and you can mix and match.

Came upon this place by chance while we were traveling, and had to stop and check it out. We were not disappointed! The staff was warm and welcoming. Theyve got a ton of variety and it really felt like stepping back in time - in a good way. But they are not coasting on nostalgia, the candy is mostly hand made, high quality and definitely delicious. Its not cheap but its not overpried by any means. Definitely worth a stop.

I was a little boy when my parents took me here . and now at 51 taking the last of my kids there . I finding that my life has come full circle . I hope before I leave this life to go the next . I will be able to take my grand kids on day

Nichols Candies is fantastic. Theyre a little confectioner right by the water thats been around since 1932 and makes some of the most delicious chocolates Ive had the pleasure of eating. Theyre right on the way to grandmas house and have become a holiday tradition for my family. If youre hearing to Gloucester or Rockport make sure to stop by!

Chocolate is ok. Lots of candies that they sell they dont make and are stale. Intermittent list in packages is the same for every item and incorrect for the specific item. Not impressed.

A great old fashioned highway candy shop like you ted to see everywhere60 years ago. Go and enjoy. Its like something you would have seen on Cape Cod many years ago before…just go, relax and enjoy!To someone having trouble with the service:Its a slice of America from many years ago. Its not Disneyland or Walmart. If you didnt get good service or think the prices are too high then go to CVS, chances are the person you are buying candy for is not going to notice the difference.

We did not have a good experience here. Very strange to us. We walked in and were not welcomed by the two older ladies there. We were not allowed to touch or take the candy we wanted to purchase. Needless to say we left with nothing.
