She was friendly, professional and was able to confidently recommend what was needed and get the job done well. I felt pampered and well-taken care of. The name is a LIE.I saw a recommendation for Awsum Salon from my neighborhood Nextdoor page. The stylist that was recommended is not who I ended up with when I called to make an appointment for a consultation for hair extensions. I wonder now if I would have had a better experience had I insisted on being booked with the stylist mentioned in the referral.I was full of regret after cutting off 10 inches of hair, and after doing a lot of research about extensions I decided to go ahead and do it. My hair is naturally curly, and I love my curly hair (which I told Corey), and just wanted extensions that basically would erase the horrible mistake I made of cutting so much of it off. Corey told me that the curly extensions would be TOO curly (but never showed me what they look like) and said they wouldnt match my curl. She recommended wavy hair extensions which would mean having to buy a curling iron and spending a lot of time on my hair every day. Having curly hair, Ive never owned a curling iron, but was willing to do whatever I needed to in order to get my hair back.The extensions were in a long see-through package and definitely appeared to be wavy. I now know that the extensions were actually straight...straight as an arrow, and only looked wavy because the packaging was shorter than the hair. I dont know if the wrong extensions were ordered or if the wrong extensions were sent BUT...when Corey took them out of the packaging, surely she saw that the hair was straight and proceeded to sew the extensions into my hair anyway. I had no way to see what she was doing in the back of my head or I would have said something right then and there.Corey ended up sewing the beads in SO tight that no amount of Ibuprofen (as she suggested) was working to relieve the pain. I also could not find any position comfortable enough to put my head down to sleep, so I was miserable. I had her personal cell number and really needed to get an appointment to get the beads loosened but being 6:30 in the morning, I chose to text so she wouldnt be disturbed if she was still asleep. When she contacted me back, she made it pretty clear how unhappy she was about the early text, making no apologies for putting the beads so tight in my hair that I couldnt sleep. She also gave me a quick I told you so speech. The unprofessionalism continues....When I arrived back at the salon the next day, I was informed that she had discussed this situation with the owner and felt it was only fair to charged me an additional $100 to loosen the beads. I was in so much pain that I didnt even argue with her...I just wanted it done. But really?! I had to pay her to undo the terrible job she did?? And being a new customer (and also enough to be her mother), I was very unappreciative of constantly being called baby like I was one of her friends from the hood.The positioning of the extensions was also an issue, one of the weft rows being attached so close to my ears that I had a constant headache. I decided that I just needed that row removed, to which she charged me another $25 on visit number three. I was lucky to find another stylist who felt terrible about my experience and was kind enough to take the rest of the extensions out at no charge.I wish I had actually done some research and seen all the terrible reviews on this place AND the owner before wasting so much time and money. Also, not ONE person in this place wears a mask. Sadly, zero stars isnt an option here.

Had my first appointment today, needed a haircut badly. Cody was my stylist and he did an amazing job. I showed Cody a picture of the hairstyle I wanted, he asked me questions during the cut, making sure the length wasn’t going to be too long or too short. He was very easy to talk to, made me feel very comfortable. My daughter and I love the style, I’ll be going back again and again. Thank You Cody and Awsum hair salon!

Awful. Just awful. Stains bloody everywhere when getting your hair colored. Tried it because it was near by and they ruined someone very special to me’s entire evening. Don’t bother replying with nonsense. I’m trying to save people some time and trouble.

Cody did a nice job with my hair this past Tuesday but, unfortunately, I will not be returning to this salon because they do not require their patrons, nor stylists, to wear masks. Only a few customers and employees wore a mask (including me) while I was there, and the salon was completely full! I will be finding another salon.

Natalie at Awsum Salon killed it with my balayage, cut, and style. I am so happy I gave this place a chance. Being a small business owner myself, I know how much these reviews can affect business and I wish nothing but the best for this business. I usually do not do reviews, but this place deserves it. Natalie is amazing, not only a fantastic colorist and artist but overall person (I can tell just from my first visit). I will definitely be back and continue to do business at this location. This place is the best customer service and hair experience I have EVER had in my life. Kenzie is my stylist. I gave her a inspiration picture of what I would like my hair to look like. I am a natural, curly red head and I wanted to add blonde extensions to appear to have an ombre/balayage without damaging my own hair plus add some length and thickness. I ordered the Belami body wave 22 inch weft extensions. They are beautiful and great quality. Kenzie used here natural creative juices to bring my picture to life with a few tweaks that were better for my hair color and skin tone. My hair turned out absolutely beautiful...so so so much BETTER than I ever expected.I love the vibe of the Awsum salon!! It is a modern very nicely decoration salon. The staff are allowed to express themselves creatively through their hair, the dress and (my favorite) their tattoos. The environment the owner creates is one of a kind. The front desk staff are always friendly and welcoming. The two assistants are great at what they do and are very mature and professional. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE and would recommend it to anyone. I have never had sooo many compliments on my hair. It doesnt matter where I go someone always compliments my hair...men and woman and want the name of the salon. GO KENZIE AND AWSUM SALON!

First time there today, it’s been over 2yrs since I had my hair colored professionally, simply avoiding the situation due to not ever really leaving with what I wanted. This is the first time since I can remember (My husband can contest) that I left feeling like I paid for a look that I was trying to achieve! The atmosphere is nice, intimate and client focused. Friendly staff and clean environment. So happy I found this place!

I had my hair done by Sabrina and what a nightmare. She was so busy talking about her previous night at a bar and who she went home with that she held the blow dryer in one spot too long.I did have to interrupt her to tell her that it was burning my head. I could not touch my scalp for days because of the pain. Not to mention how uncomfortable I felt with the conversation. Totally unprofessional.

I followed Krysta from another salon and I do like Awsum better. Its very open and bright, with lots of natural light which will give you a better idea of your true hair color (you know what I mean if youve ever had your hair done in a dark salon). I highly recommend Krysta for your color needs. She did my Dany Targaryen hair for my winter themed wedding and it was perfect. Very scary to bleach and tone 100% of your hair but Krysta got it done

I went to the salon for the first time and Kelly did my color. She was phenomenal!! Hands down the best color Ive had in a long time. The salon was beautiful also.

First off the lady I saw Dana was great. I came in needing a corrective color and highlights. It was my first time meeting her and first time at the salon. My hair ended up taking awhile to lift and she had a plan that worked and I’m happy with my hair. We ended up staying past the closing time which is where it got uncomfortable. The owner Chris apparently had to stay till my hair was done. He kept walking by on the phone saying apparently she doesn’t know what time the F*** salon closes. It’s ridiculous, so selfish, etc. I couldn’t believe it and he kept doing it. It was seriously multiple calls and so loud. I was like I get the drift. I felt so uncomfortable I’m sorry my hair took longer and it cut into your night but I’m still a customer and deserved better. I couldn’t believe that attitude or comments would be allowed ever. I was a first time client and don’t plan to return due to this type of environment.

I saw Krysta to get my hair dyed silver and she did a phenomenal job! She was talkative, funny, and very friendly. I couldnt have asked for a better stylist. My hair turned out fantastic! Its only been a day but Ive already received so many compliments. It also still feels very healthy despite starting from mostly virgin dark brown hair! I will be seeing her for all of my touch ups and trims!

If I cud then I would give 0 . I went there 1st time for a haircut based on the so called great reviews. Had an appt with the owner Chris . As per him he has 20 yrs of experience but his work was like an amateur. I showed him my previous cut pic and asked dif he cud do it. He said YES he can. I waited for the cut to finish but it was nothing like the pic. Upon asking him he said that he doesnt do 80s haircut. This is the best he cud do and he walked away. All I asked was front and back layers with side swept bangs. Chris could not do that. He was highly unprofessional , full of anger and as per girls in the front he did a good job. I begged him to fix my haircut. I left crying that place.Do not recommend Chris at all.

Awsum Salon is being sabotaged.Dana has done my hair for 20 years and she is amazing! I have waist-length, ridiculously thick locks and she cuts and colors them to perfection. Whenever I am complimented on my hair, I give Dana all the credit. She’s truly a miracle worker.When her salon opened, it was a vibrant, positive, sparkling place. Customers were naturally drawn there by her skills and the positive atmosphere. It didn’t take long for all of the chairs to be filled every time I was in on a Saturday.Unfortunately, her business partner, Chris, is a petty, vindictive, jealous man. When I went for my appointment this past Saturday morning he had changed the locks, leaving Dana and me - a paying customer - literally standing outside in the cold. Even though the sign on the front window clearly says they open at 8:00 on Saturday. Even though I have seen him in there before 8:00 for every Saturday appointment I’ve had since they opened the salon. Even though my appointment had been in the books since November. Even with all of this and knowing that he had changed the locks the night before, he didn’t show up until almost 9:00.Dana handled it as professionally as possible, especially since this was clearly designed to embarrass her. She called him twice to come and let us into the salon. He hung up on her twice. When Chris finally showed up, he unlocked the door and turned and walked away. He didn’t apologize to me (or to Dana) in fact, he didn’t say a single word to either of us. His childish behavior is completely unprofessional.And frankly, it’s taking a toll on the business. For the first time since it was a brand new salon, I looked around midday on Saturday and saw more empty chairs than full. His unprofessionalism will kill Awsum Salon.I can’t recommend Dana highly enough. At the same time, I cannot in good conscience recommend anyone else at the salon, as long as Chris is having his temper tantrum.

I’ve only ever had my hair cut before, but decided it was finally time to add some color and I’m so glad I went to Kenzie for it! She did an AMAZING job and made it look exactly how I wanted! Highly recommend!

This was 10 days ago and Cody was the one who cut my hair and Chris wasn’t the one I wanted the appointment with but was told isn’t available but yet he was walking around doing nothing a hour before I got there and hour during my haircut he was cleaning up a kid who seemed to be his relative...... Awsum butchered haircut. Very disappointed with the haircut and the service environment. I got there 30 minutes before my appointment and 4-5 different people came to the front counter and not a single one acknowledged me even though we looked at each other dead in the eyes, didnt even care to pass a smile. So after 30 minutes of awkwardness and sitting there I finally asked one of the girls if the person I came to see would be ready for my appointment. I SHOULDVE listened to my instincts and left instead of giving them a chance but lesson learned, the person who cut my hair was very nice. However, I got the feeling he was new to cutting hair because even after talking about what kind of fade I want he gave me this super high fade which almost completely messed up my hair and I knew for a fact at that point he was blowing smoke about how good he was. Didnt get the fade I wanted and then to make it worse, it was uneven ‍ fml. High uneven fade which a barber couldnt even fix. So after the fade was butchered I thought maybe hell cut the top of my hair correctly but to no surprise that was a fail too, I was very cautious with the top and decided to just leave with what I have. In conclusion, seemed like the only good guy there but gave me a bad haircut and wouldnt go there again. Oh what was even worse than the experience, the person I wanted to get the haircut from was just chilling there killing time the entire time when I was told hes booked, no appointment came the entire time I was there.

Check it out, my hair was fried, roots grown out, and I was positive I would of had to chop it all off (Britney Spears Style). I came across Awsum Salon and booked an appointment with Kelly. After going over the details with her and filling her in on my dream of having beautiful blonde hair, she was enthusiastic and confident that she could deliver.A couple hours later, my hair felt renewed and I felt like a whole new person. Kelly is seriously the best! I still cannot believe how amazing my hair feels and looks from the condition it was in before. Kelly was so pleasant to talk to and super knowledgeable. Thank you so so much Kelly! You are a miracle worker!I highly recommend going to Kelly at Awsum Salon! I cannot wait for my next appointment!

This was a great experience. I have lived in AZ for over two years, been to many different salons and couldnt find anyone to blonde my hair the way I like. I found them on Instagram and decided to give a try. I needed a last minute highlight and they got in me in the next day! Savana was awesome, sweet, and personable. I finally got a nice ashy blonde with no brass! The salon is very nice, clean, and modern. I will definitely be returning!
