Paul went above and beyond to help us find what we were looking for this evening. I didn’t catch their names but the cashiers were also super friendly! They have put together an incredible team at this location and we will definitely be back! I can’t say enough about how impressed I am with their customer service!

It’s a very nice clean store. But today was the third time I’ve called ahead for someone to confirm that there was a product there in store in stock and it’s always “yea we have one I see it.” I call ahead because I have to drive 35 minutes to get there and each time they tell me “no we don’t have it” when I get there, for all three different instances. So i won’t be wasting my time, or gas to get there, or my money at this location again. And if you ever call in to see if they have something in stock, be assured that an employee will never go lay eyes on it or set it aside for you. I was going to spend $500 today, but I’ll take my business elsewhere.

Saw a 1911 pistol was available there for purchase and wanted it badly. Called the store to have Cleark put gun in hand and make sure it was the one I wanted. It was the exact one I wanted. I then proceeded to purchase it online it took 5 minutes. Transaction went through without a hitch. Immediately called store to ask how they proceed when a gun is purchased online. It was explained to me and was insured it would be available. I received the email notification and it was available for pickup and headed directly to the store. 1 hour drive in rush hour traffic from Dallas too North Frisco. Upon my arrival the wrong gun had been put into my box. Additionally the original one had been sold. This is a very hard to locate gun. Spoke with a nice young man Steven the manager. He assured me he would locate one for me. That was on the 28th of October. For now I give them one star. I will change that when I received the firearm I paid for.

I went into my local Academy Store today looking for my husband some shoes. So I was a little lost in making my mind up with some clothes so a sales associate by the name of Joshua and there was two more of his associates that took the time and gave me there undivided attention and helping me find the sizes I was needing and lord knows these sales associates went above and beyond to help. Those teenagers there absolutely are phenomenal in providing excellent quality customer service. Thank you again to each and everyone of them.

Busy location! The store is typically organized and clean, but I find that selection can be limited simply because so many people shop here. Staff is generally pretty friendly and helpful, so Ill keep coming back.

The store has anything you could need related to sports and outdoor fitness and recreation. They even had a 10% veterans discount over the Independence Day weekend. Staff is kind and knowledgeable. The store layout is easy to navigate.

Team leader Stephanie is amazing. I had a difficult situation with false advertising and Stephanie was more than extremely helpful.She resolved my issue quickly and efficiently and she is the ONLY reason I will shop there a second time.I initially felt scammed by shady advertising to enter the store in the first place; but team leader Stephanie resolved my complaint in a very satisfactory manner. I may not shop here again because of the corporate scandalous advertising, but if I do it will be because her stellar customer service skills were above and beyond her pay grade.Academy would do well to promote her as an example of people skills that make the customer experience worthwhile.

BE AWARE! If you see a discount online they wont respect the price at the store because its an online only discount. However, you can pick up the item at the store which make no sense why I have to wait a day to come back to the store and pick up my item.

Theres a very nice young man in the firearms department (named Cameron I believe). Hes very helpful and patient. Ammo is difficult to come by, so when they get some in they limit your purchase to two boxes total so as many people as possible can get some. He must have explained the rule to fifty people while I was looking at the firearms. He was very nice all fifty times. Even when someone came in for the second time in a day to try to skirt the rules, he kindly said no.Also hes got a good knowledge of firearms. He was happy to show me anything even though I was just looking.The checkout personnel were pleasant and I even heard a genuine Thank you and have a nice day from someone as I was heading out the door. Very positive experience.

A little overpriced, but thats what happens when you come to a sports store that offers a large selection.Store is big and there is just about something for everyone depending on what kind of activity youre into.

I have shopped several times since it opened (2020). During the pandemic worst times masks were required by customers and the store practiced virus mitigation. Masks are encouraged for customers but not required. Employees still wearing masks. No joy in the ammo dept; they have little on hand unless you luck out just when shipment arrives. Lots and lots of clothing and sports equipment to choose from as it is well stocked. I got a nice straw sun hat to wear outdoors. I also like the named brands of clothing they stock. Staff friendly and courteous.

It was early, so no crowd, was able to get in & out quickly. Not a big selection of Texas Longhorn gear at this location.

Bought the wrong size shirt and didnt save the receipt. When I returned to try to exchange it I was initially met with scepticism so I asked to speak to the manager. The manager Stephanie was not only knowledgeable and helpful but went out of her way to make sure my shopping experience was memorable. Her willingness to make sure my time spent in her store more than justifies all the money I spend here.

I went in to buy a cast iron skillet. Not only did I get a skillet, but the handsome man that helped me gave me a great recipe for chicken fajitas! I love this Academy location, everytime Ive been in they have always been super helpful and nice.

The clothes selection wasn’t the best today, however our cashier Paul’s service was an awesome face of the company. 10/10 will be coming back when the winter seasons around.

Went there to buy tennis shoes I saw in a weekly add. I had trouble finding them. I asked a young girl who was working in the shoe department to help me find them. She had a little trouble at first helping me find them but she was very persistent in trying to find them. She found the ones I was looking for and helped me find my size. She was extremely helpful. I probably would have walked out if she had not helped me.

The employee working the front ended up being very kind, helpful and polite. This is a new and far out there location but they were out of the kayak I wanted, and I found a solution anyway. Just impressed with the professional attitude of this particular young man this day, and thats worth recognizing.

They always have great prices on pew pews and they have great selection of shoes and fishing gear amongst other things. And they did not bow down to the pressure and stop selling certain things because a few people dont know what they are talking about. 😉

Who knew the whole family could bond during a trip to academy?! Was able to pick up a cool Texas tee for a visiting family member. We all found something and had a good time. Found everything we came in for.

Bought a high dollar baitcaster got it hope an one of the inverts were missing from the tip. Now I thought its going to a ordeal switching for a new one. Old one sat by register an I got finger the replacement. Luck there were two left. Took it to the register and done & out in 10 minutes. Happy angler now learn to us a baitcaster

Worst customer service. I waited for 15 minutes at curbside pickup no one came. When I went inside lady says they cant server curbside pickup.

Friendly staff and the store is clean and organized.I liked being asked if I need help, but not harrased. I was checked on in each department, but no one hovered, which was nice.At checkout, we had a nice young lady who seemed to enjoy her job and took time to interact with her customers. Always nice to have someone who is enjoying their job at the checkout counter.

They have 14 registers and 2 cashiers standing next to each other to ring up customers rather than spreading out. The cashier is extremely rude. They have 3 people standing around doing nothing while they are using their cell phones with a long line. Y’all have to do better. With the state of the economy and Pandemic you should have top notch customer service to earn people’s business. I think I will stick to Amazon.

This Academy Sports location is exactly the reason I shop at Scheels.I purchased an 18 bike for my son. At the store, I found that the brakes were not installed properly. I was encouraged by the staff to purchase the bike online (not in the store) and pick it up after Tuesday (that is when their bike assembler was to be back in the store). I purchased the bike online while standing in the store, which is quite ridiculous.I arrive on Thursday and stand in the online pickup line for at least ten minutes. As the line grows behind me, the single cashier continues to help the customers in the store. Another cashier begins completing transactions and his first transaction is a store employee making a purchase. This employee is purchasing something while there are 4 other customers behind her. I would expect that the employee would help the cashier move the line, and then choose to make her purchase after the customers were all helped. I was very wrong.After the line grew to 3 other customers behind me, I was finally addressed by the cashier and told that I could wait in the other line behind all of the customers purchasing items in the store. I then respond questioning why there is a separate line (as there are signs and labels on the floor) for online pickup. The employee who was in line also decided to chime in at this time and tell me I could have waited in any line (behind her of course).It then takes another 5-10 minutes to locate the bike. I am presented the bike and the tires are completely flat. At this point, I was just not surprised.This will definitely be my last purchase at Academy. I have purchased bikes at Scheels and other retailers in the DFW area and was treated infinitely better.

Bielive academy is a little pricey in comparison to before pandemic , most items are 10 to 15% higher than other chain stores

Bought a new reel today. Shimano Curado $180 only to realize when I got home it had been used. Not happy about it but also dont feel like taking it back. It was the only one they had. The things you have to worry about these days!

Can’t say enough great things about this location. My curbside order was recently incorrect and their staff did everything to make things right. This is definitely my new favorite location!

Low rating based on their swimsuit selection. This is supposed to be a sports store, and last time I checked, swimming was a sport. They had more lounge time bikinis than suits to use for the sport. Very disappointing. We went Extreme Swim and found exactly what we were looking for.

Poor brooks shoe selection and sizes. No back stock. If you dont find it yourself they dont have it.

Employees are behaving like “high school juniors” by playing with some toys while working, chatting, jumping & roaming around, I asked one guy to help me, imminently he ran away like a kid, so I found the manager to address that & get help to find an item, but he acted like a “high school senior” kid, he doesnt have any idea about what is customer service, how to treat customers & how to behave in a store, altogether these kids are bringing down academy brand down

The new Academy in North Frisco is great. The employees there were very attentive and friendly. I was there to purchase a fire arm and they answered all my questions. I will be buying my next fire arm from this store.

Upon arrival, I was kindly greeted and offered assistance. I really needed the assistance and received it. The staff was helpful, store clean and organized and plenty of variety of brands.I was able to find what I needed and easily through the checkout.

This rating is only for the outdoor (gun department) bad costumer Service just ignore you they rather like to talk to themselves than to help and don’t even try to ask some questions specially the little blond guy and the state puff guy.On a side note there where some really nice guys I believe they also help load curbside they where really friendly store is nice and clean but school the gun and hunting department that’s bad for business specially when someone trying to sound smart but is wrong

Poor customer service and product. I ordered a treadmill online to pick up. I went to pick it up and the box was kind of rugged still had all the bands around it so i was like ok it still new and looked intact. Got home and opened it up, looked ok so hauled the parts upstairs individually as it was very heavy. Put together and found a plastic tab missing and a piece of plastic on a back corner cracked. Then the very last step of the whole assembly and the part is missing. So called store talked to associate, he said just bring it back. I said are you gonna help me move it down stairs assembled? He said nothing he can do he just works at the register and i can bring it back assembled and they will still accept it... so now im carefully moving it downstairs and will be droping it off at the store and going somewhere else

Really wish you would fix your inventory tired of going there looking for stuff and you dont even have it walking in ready to drop 200 bucks on a reel alone and you dont have it when your site says you do. I have walked in ready to spend 100s of dollars on fishing rods and reels for different types of fishing and you never have anything your site says you do. Fix your inventory cause you about to loose a loyal customer. Maybe I should contact corporate

Great store lay out, friendly and helpful staff

The drive up option is horrible. I waited 15 min after I confirmed my arrival. Then I went inside and the employee told me they must missed it and it would be another 10 min. They also don’t answer the phone so don’t try to call them.Terrible service!

This Academy was great! The associate, Julio, helped us. He was so nice. Greeted us the moment he saw us and had a big smile the whole time.Ive never considered Academy as my go-to store for my sports and gear. I usually go to Sports Authotity... but I will definitely be coming here from now on! Its conveniently down the street and if all the employees are as friendly and helpful as Julio then it will be well worth it!

It has limited items and not a super site with a large variety of items. It also had mainly their brands so not as much variety.

Really clean inside the new academy. Little hard to find things, but friendly staff help direct you where you need to go. The selection is small in each section of the store, be prepared to only have a few selection of brands for a product.

The staff in the fishing section is very knowledgeable. Answered all of our questions and helped us choose the correct fish finder for our needs! My husband left the store a very happy man!

Great new store. Getting used to the new layout, compared to other Academys.Only complaint, one lady working the registers was very rude. We were in line and told us to move--would have been helpful to tell us she was going to help someone else making a purchase instead of telling us to move.Everyone else working there is real nice and helpful.

Curbside pickup was ridiculous. Checked in via email at 9:03- called at 9:10 and 9:15 and finally received pickup at 9:25. They just opened, so they weren’t overly busy. I would have brought my mask to run in if I knew it was going to take over 20 minutes for a pick up. Those that are offering curbside, just need to have someone designated to do it- very frustrating. This is the second time we’ve been to this Academy, the first time we had trouble finding help in the shoe department. The selection was good- it just hasn’t been strong service, so I hope they can adjust since the store is quite new in a vastly growing area.

Pretty good store. I bought an XL dog bed there for way cheaper than a pet store. My cutie has been sooo comfy on her bed!The only thing I didnt like was one of the cashiers. He answered the phone in the middle of our transaction and had me standing there waiting for my receipt, and didnt even try to be friendly about it... It was pretty offensive.But the older guy at the front was friendly and funny.

This is the best Academy store my husband and I have been to! I was looking for a specific pair of Reef flip flops and Tru, a store associate, was amazing! The staff here is friendly and the store is clean. We will definitely always make the drive to this one!
