What can I say besides: classic! This cute little cafe absolutely holds a spot in my heart for best bagel shop in New Jersey. I stopped by on a business trip as I’m not from the area, but I’ll definitely be making stops here whenever I have to travel in the morning/early afternoon. 7/5 stars; will definitely anticipate a return

Absolutely fantastic breakfast take out spot. Bagels, eggs on rolls, platters, etc… are great. Can dine in if you like as well. Usually busy because of the quality. Have to take a star off because of the counter operation. Customers don’t know where the line to order forms. They need to put a sign up for the ordering line. People cut in front of each other w/o even knowing it. The guy at the register takes your money when you order other timers he doesn’t. Then trying to pay later delays getting out of there. Then he answers phone while manning the register when the place is busy. Need a dedicated phone person when busy: Need organization at the register. Besides that it is a great spot.

Uh. Is this the same liberty bagel I’ve been going to for 10 years? Who would charge money for this sandwich?

This place was great at one point in time, but now? It must be new owners or something, because the food doesnt taste the same, and now its like you get less portion for the same price. Its still clean and everything else. I visit a lot less now. I hope this helps.

I drove in the pouring rain to go to this place cuz they advertise opening at 5am at 5:30 am .. lights out door locked , employees inside. You lost a potential customer ..

Manager is Great. The Service is Great and got to say one of the best sandwiches is the Golden Classic my favorite. High end breakfast not far from home

Ownership here needs a course in customer service management. If it weren’t for the workers, I wouldn’t come back. Food is good, but not worth the sour taste the owners leave in your mouth. Seems like a father and son business. Fairly small with a lot of foot traffic. Mostly because there aren’t other competitors close by. I would recommend areas in South Amboy / Parlin … much more of a home feel with customer service and great food.

This place used to be my favorite place to eat breakfast but the new owner had increased the prices redicously. I went there recently I paid $35 for 3 breakfast and 2 small coffee. I was shocked. After I picked up the food I asked the girl thats not the price I had paid here before and the prices on the board is not what the guy charged me. She said there paper that said price due to change management. I said at least cove the old prices. I said its was $4.95 for the meal before what are you charging now when its $35. For the same meal 3 times. Its like it double the price here. And she said I dont it management who deal with it. I said ok thank you but I am not coming back here again.

I use to go here years ago and they were great until they werent. Orders were consistently incorrect. I went in there 3 days ago for the first time in years and apparently they have new ownership. Ive been in there every day since and each day order was on the money. They added a tea bar that will satisfy any flavor preference. Very great start. Great personality there too. 1 suggestion...add a bin for Stevia (green) sweetner packets.

The lady in charge of taking orders is SUPER nasy… my first and last time coming here. Unprofessional and just super rude.

Great Bagels, great service. We are from California and stumbled on this place as random google search... Best Google find in a while. Its obviously a neighborhood favorite. Prices are very reasonable and even though the line was out the door we were served with in 10 minutes

Service is always great, friendly and quick. Food is even better. The bagels are top notch and always fresh. It’s always very clean as well. Everywhere is frequently spotless.

This used to be a fairly priced breakfast establishment and instead it’s severely overpriced since the new ownership. How is a simple breakfast sandwich and a Snapple $7.50? I was quoted $6.20 then he told me to take my card out and charged me the extra dollar and some cents. Wth is this madness. He’s lucky I’m too blessed to fight over the dollar and some but buyers beware. Seems like this happens often based on others reviews. Won’t be back!!!

I hadn’t have a bagel like this since I was a child in Brooklyn NY. Most places here in the Edison area is doughy and tastes like a roll not a bagel.

They have the best bagels in town.

We just got home and realized that were missing our home fries, tried calling the restaurant but theyre already closed. They were in such a hurry to leave today - even though we got there an hour before they closed (online says 3PM but theyre sign says 4PM?). Neither of our bagels were toasted, theres barely any cream cheese on my bagel and of course were missing food. It wasnt busy, Im not sure why they rushed to get our food out.

Food is great but service is just awful. They do not listen to my request when it comes to what I want on a bagel. And they always ask for tip. I don’t mind giving tip if i deem it worthy but to make a comment about not receiving tip and getting upset is ridiculous.

I really hate to leave such a sad review on this place. This was a go to breakfast spot for everyone in my local high school. Unfortunately after they changed management. The quality, service and value went extremely downhill. I used to love coming there every Friday, but I refuse to step in there again. If you do, be careful how they charge you. They add hidden fees. My boyfriend and I made our typical order which was $12, and got charged $22. We understand COVID raised the prices but not to that extreme. And when I asked for receipt because I didn’t want to question it with a line behind me, I was given attitude. I saw miscellaneous charges.

I been coming to this place 5-6 times a week, some days twice. Me and my family been coming to liberty for the past 15 years. We bought our house close to liberty cafe since it was our favorite place to eat but everything changed when new owners took over. But as a loyal customer I continue going there until last week. Every morning I get the same thing which the price is $6.20, but the new owner is a thief. Someday he will charge me $8.20, $9.20. The price keeps changing every day. Last week I went there from Monday to Friday and each day was a different price. I am sure I am not the only he does this to.

Used to be a great place but since the new owner took over it’s been going a bit downhill the food is still the same but the service from the elderly guy at the register (I assume is the owner) has been horrific. He either doesn’t pay attention to what you are ordering and tries to force his mistake on you or flat out disrespectful and ignores you. I had an altercation where in the middle of ordering food he cuts me off to talk to a vendor and proceeded to have a full length conversation while I stood there. I also caught him another occasion trying to charge me for “extra egg” when all that was ordered was what was on the menu. Needless to say this guy is shady. The only silver lining is who I’m guessing to be the son of the owner. The times I’ve been there with him at the front has been great. Good focus on customer service and charismatic.

Consistently come here almost every morning right when shop opens, and the owner (raj i believe) charges me a different price for my SAME order every day. very annoying and inconsiderate. sometimes extra cheese is 30 cents, others days it’s an extra $2.00. all from the same person who rings us up every day.

Consistently mess up my order. You ask for something they charge you for it and you don’t get it. Unfortunately I don’t open my platters before I leave but shouldn’t have to. Understand once or twice but seems like it happens all the time now

The people here are so nice and the bagels are really great. I had the liberty and my wife had the time a melt. Both were very good. We got a few of there bagels to bring home. I’ve heard a lot about this place over the years and I do think that it holds up to its reputation. I’ll be back.

Confirmed by order three times over and they still got it wrong.When youre paying almost $4 for a sandwich you kind of want your order to be right. and you cant be too chintzy on putting some meat on it. I asked for pork roll egg and cheese on a hard roll and I got two thin slices of pork roll. Sorry that doesnt cut it for me when you got a hankering for a good pork roll egg and cheese sandwich.My son said the bagel was good so they must have that right.

Used to be best place in town. Gone wayyyy down hill since new owners took over. Bagels not as good anymore. Today got an egg sandwich plain bagel was stale. Pork roll overcooked and nasty. Old dude at register is cranky and has no patience. So disappointed.

This was a breakfast detour for us on the way to the shore. I understand everyone is doing the best they can, restaurant and dining wise, but there are some things you cant overlook. We waited quite a bit for our order, which is fine, but when we did get it, it was kind of a let down. The bagels were small for a jersey bagel and my iced coffee was more ice than coffee.

Been here for years some tough times lately , but they always are good

After ordering on the phone 15 minutes prior to walking in to pick it up. I had to wait another 40 minutes just to get my order which was an everything bagel with everything and French fries. Something that should’ve taken less then 10 minutes took 45 minutes. After requesting how much longer would my order take to be done. The owner stated that they were very busy. But yet, everyone that did a walk in order got there orders before I did? Doesn’t make sense. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Used to be the go to spot. Still not bad but compared to what they used to be it’s not even close. Hopefully it is just growing pains with the new management and they get back the greatness they used to have.

Giving this review really pulls at my heart strings ! Have been a liberty bagel customer for around 15 years now and always recommended them ! When I heard of the new owners taking over I was a bit worried , then noticed alot of positive changes happening in the store ! But as time goes on service seems to be slipping and prices seem to be creeping higher and higher ! 3 times in a row my order has been wrong or something was forgotten! But all in all they still make a very good sandwich and the bagels are still really good! Would still recommend them just hoping that the issues are fixed and that the restaurant doesnt continue on in a negative direction

I live close by and its very helpful to just run in and grab a bagel or a pork roll sandwich and scoot right out the door in minutes. The food is fantastic and the portions are pretty decent. And the same people that work there are nice to me. I like it when they are nice to me. That makes my day go well, very well. But if they arent nice to me or they dont give that friendly smile, then I know my day is not gonna go well at all. In fact, I will not go to work that day and just sit in my car and wait about 2 hours, then go back in and order more food, and wait to see if I get that friendly smile or just a simple Hello....How are you today! And if I dont get a smile or a simple hello. Then I will try Super Duper Deli. Thank You.

Used to be a top dining choice in town.Especially for breakfast. But it seems to be going under new management/ownership and I see a lot of disorganization in my last visit.Updated February 23, 2020:On most recent visit, this one time top destination for all things breakfast and Deli is only getting worse. My son and I walk in, there is no friendliness to the place as there was one time. I ordered a coffee and there was no decaffeinated which is my preference. There was no half-and-half at all. There were no coffee cup holders at all. Took them forever to get those items. I served myself a regular coffee because I didnt feel like being in there longer than I had to. The atmosphere in there is really now officially in my view of a place that is going downhill service and management wise. I mean theres just a bad vibe to the place. What was once a welcoming experience, its no longer. And this will be the last time I visit this establishment.If I could give them negative stars I most definitely would!

This place has no manners in fact i even feel discriminated. I have seen the old brown guy greeting everybody except me plus there is no friendliness. They also use same cutters for veg orders. Its just not hygiene enough for vegetarian people. I wish i can give them negative stars

Great food, fast service

I guess all good things come to an end since original owner so everything has never been the same. Food is made 10 times in a rush new management is always yelling at their employees their prices have skyrocketed. And it’s just not the same feeling anymore today was my last day ever visiting them again. Very poor service no one chooses to wear hairnets hairs all over the place not as clean as they used to be. Flies all in the dining room. I will no longer give them my business.

Ordered Tru door dash, but my driver was told they dont use door dash. I didnt get a meal and my driver wasted gas driving. Caution if ordering online. Driver was told they only use Uber eats. Card was charged for my ordered (pending)

When its the morning you want to have breakfast in a nice calming place but this is not what I got. First, a younger employee cursing to the other elderly employee infront of everybody And I waited 25 minutes in line and he didnt have patience to take my order so he started giving me attitude so i ended up leaving.

If I could give negative stars I would.This once amazing bagel shop has gone plummeting downhill ever since the new owner took over. He has zero idea what hes doing other than overcharging customers and giving people wrong orders. Id rather eat at McDonalds.

The people at Liberty Bagel are wonderful, and treats everyone with the same respect. Liberty Bagel is a great spot to have some breakfast with the family. Although some days are so busy one cant find a seat. I usually call them place my order and eat at home. Some times we are in a rush, so we cant wait to see who is going to get up to leave.

Great Place For a quick family breakfast! This place has been around for years. Prices are very affordable even on a tight budget. The only thing I can add is things are diffrent lately with them having new owners the family vibe the staff used to bring is now gone. Will still continue to go here either way!

Saw the good reviews so decided to stop in for a quick bite. The place isnt glamorous, But the food was delicious and cheap. My bagel was fresh, the cream cheese was flavorful, staff was friendly. Thats all I need from a good bagel place ☺️

I’m 23 and have been coming here since I was a baby. Ever since the new owners took over the service and food absolutely sucks!! I am devastated at how bad this deli has fell apart. It’s truly sad to watch as well as a shame. I have most definitely been looking for a better breakfast place.

Not what it use to be. The front cooler that use to have cream cheeses and other items seems to be broken and they just had some items in pans with no ice or anything to keep them cool

I recently relocated to this area and found this casual local Cafe. Great value here as well as friendly, timely and courteous service with a smile. Breakfast was very good as well. Ill try a lunch sandwich next time I pass by.
