Best service I’ve received from any building material place and business in general. On a busy day I didn’t have time to wait any longer but a manager reached out to me, helped me w my order and assisted me the whole way getting it to my location. Friendly, supportive and knowledgeable. Can’t thank Dustin the manager enough for his excellent customer service! I’ll definitely be coming back!

This is heaven for any masonry, concrete, or waterproofing contractor. They’ve got an array of tools & materials. You walk into the main building & place your order , then walk out with your invoice and hand it to a worker on a forklift (near a marked tent). You point out which vehicle is yours and they bring your material to you. Their silica sand & Portland cement is fairly priced.

I have been going here for more than 15 years. Thompsons is my go-to source for everything regarding home improvement, particularly the outside of our home. Most recently we decided to re-do our driveway, sidewalk going up to front door, pathway around front yard, pool deck and planter wall. It is a huge project and I was stressed. Picking the pavers was a huge decision. Isis Martinez in the design center (which is an amazing place) was the greatest help. She made it possible for me to make very important decisions. Her knowledge about the various products and companies is vast. She is professional, courteous, and patient beyond description. Her co-worker, Luis is the same. He went beyond what I ever expected in gathering samples of pavers and stone from the vast building material yard. I cannot praise these two associates enough. Thompsons is very fortunate to have them in their employ. They must certainly bring a lot of business (and income) to Thompsons, which is the very best place for building materials I have ever seen.

Boy that place has really changed! Last time I was there was 15 years ago. Went there to get some plants and they were the healthiest Ive seen in a long time. Alot of little exhibits to check out, I was really impressed. Going back soon, see you there! 😉

Love the place it has lots of beautiful rocks and planters. But, I bought Bontone II Rooting powder 2 weeks ago and just opened it today, it has no seal and its only 1/3 full. Idk if its supposed to be like that or I just got an opened/used bottle. Other than that I enjoyed shopping there.

This place is downright crazy, a real sensory overload of eye candy. If you go here without a set list or a general idea of what youre looking for you will find yourself lost in all the cool products. Thankfully I was here to pick up a set list of building materials and they were quick on delivering it directly to the bed of the work truck. You cant help but check out all the neat and unique things they have though.

I really love it here my father went in to buy materials while i went to the outside garden grove and it was luxurious.

All employess are extremely helpful and resourceful. Everytime I go. The employees help me with my items to the car. They go out of their way. Huge selection and variety. They are way cheaper then Lowes and Home depot. They have different sands, dirt,graveland rocks. They are located north of the 10 freeway of Cherry on your left hand side. Place looks like a park and they have a huge outdoor bird cage.

Beautiful koi fish in a pond. Beautiful fountains and plants. Gravel rocks. Every thing you need for outdoor living.

I never been so upset at how poorly the credit department handle my account Mabel Chavez threaten our company and than turned around and said we threatened her. She threatened us to the CSLB and we paid our entire account and because she didnt like the way we spoke to her, she shut down the account. She needs to be fired.

They have a great selection of materials, but getting help to find what you need is a problem. They also get only 3 stars because I called in advance to be sure they had the product I wanted, then drove 45 minutes to their Fontana location, and was told they dont carry that product or anything like it. Incredibly frustrating. The employees were pleasant, but the sales person on the phone was misleading. Probably a good place for landscaping contractors, but not so much for the general public.

This place is great but its a little pricey

I just got off the phone with Jessy prior from Jessy and after Jessy I was being bounced around and I kept repeating myself several times I don’t understand what kind of services they’re running here but I am a customer that’s very interested in wanting to buy 5 to 6 pallets of 105 pounds retaining wall for my back hill of my home it is to my understanding that there are open seven days a week which was very convenient for me It would’ve all worked out but all they kept doing was taking me around and passing me around to several different people and I kept Repeating myself what I wanted.

They have a great supply.

I paid my contractor to buy materials and have them delivered to my job site. Two delivery days set and failed. The general manager Dustin Chavez told me that the materials were not paid for. Told by contractor a refund was given because of miscommunication. Then Dustin Chavez said hed look into it and never called back. They are nothing but liars. They take your money and dont deliver. Very crooked and dishonest. I will leave a review with the BBB as well. They arent even rated with the BBB. Interesting in business over 30 years and no rating?? Ya, Id STEER CLEAR OF THIS PLACE.

They have a good selection of rocks and plants. Waiting to pay and picking up stuff is sometimes long, especially on weekends. But overall good experience, the guys in the forklifts are super helpful and nice.

The worst customer service. Instead of fixing the problem they told us to go buy new paint.We bought the Venizia paint and were told it takes 5-7 days. We called to get an update and they said we can pick up the primer, we arrive and it’s not there.Few days pass we call back and they let us know it’s ready.Our contractor picks up the paint but it’s not mixed, we call to let them know and their response Is “you can come back and buy another one” it’s $200 for a 5 gallons.. why would i go back and buy new paint? The sales rep Jorge did not inform that we either need it mixed or on the side. When we asked why he didn’t offer that he said it was our contractors job to let us know how to order the paint. We’re clearly not contractors and continued to say “you as a buyer should already know what you’re ordering” as a sales rep it’s ones job to help your customers. Instead he tries to up sell us on wax but doesn’t mention how we would like the paint? We speak to a supervisor and he said they can mix the paint for a $15 fee but that it would take 2-3 day. The supervisor wasn’t helpful at all, he said the sales rep did his job and again was our contractors fault for not informing us about the paint.

Always awesome plants, soil, decorations, and of course awesome services. They often ask if I need help and help carry heavy thinks to cart and vehicle.

Lots of selections to see, but you have to go inside to ask for prices. The woman in the design center was very rude, dismissive and condescending. Also a lot of the displayed designs we asked about were discontinued.

They are very fast to unload your truck but they can be very busy so it can take a little bit to get to you. Ive had times where Im unloaded in 20 minutes and times where it takes an hour and a half. It just depends on what time of the day you get here the earlier the better.

Pricing was fine I was buying in bulk with an account and a salesman but I have to keep in mind the sheer scale of the facilities and how readily available materials are on the spot..plus show room/display areas all an investment by Thompson’s for the client for sales

Went by today just to look around n look for some rock thingy I want for my yard. Wow this place is awesome! So many ideas n the set up was a very nice outing for my toddler and us . We did find what we were looking for and where glad to see that what we want is significantly cheaper then home depot. We will be returning. The bird cage was quite impressive 😊

Do not buy from Thompson. Their prices are much higher than other local building material suppliers. I went to pick up a few blocks to finish a job and their “contractors price” was much higher than the price given just calling resource building materials or p&s building materials for the exact same product from the same manufacturer. The difference was over 25%. I will not be back to this yard.

I had a delivery scheduled for red lava rock. I was told the delivery would be between 9 AM and 12 PM. When I called at 12 PM they said it delivery time had changed to 12 noon to 3 PM.. I understand or unforeseen circumstances but as I explained to the dispatcher a phone call would have alleviated me wasting My entire morning waiting for a delivery. I just wanted them to be aware so this wouldn’t happen to others but she didn’t seem to understand that

Fantastic service. Every employee that went by us asked if we needed help while we picked our own flat rocks. The forklift drivers were very nice and expert drivers. Overall smooth experience and easy to pick up all of our rocks.

This is a great place for plants, rocks, bricks, whatever you need for your landscaping project. They also have barbeques and lawn art. They are always extremely helpful and give you free water and popcorn in the summer. The place is pretty clean, bathrooms are super clean, climate controlled and pleasant year around. Highly recommend shopping here, or just coming to browse and get ideas. They also have a design center of you need help.

The customer service is horrible as hell. They are so rude and in front of our face told us to fire our contractor just because he was confused with a certain mixture that they weren’t explaining correctly!! I was so angry that they would say something like that in front of customers.

I guess showing up at 6am is too early. There was no floor sales associate and no prices on the items I planned to buy.UPDATE: If no employee approaches you to provide costumer service, just go to the register employees. Luckily for us, an employee finally ask is if we were finding everything ok after about 40 minutes.Their materials seem to be of good quality. Ill go back for more materials. Its a good place to find items that might not be found at other local locations.

Im so glad my landscaper told me about this place. Its a wonderland of beautiful hardscapes, unique water features and plant life.As a shopper it was a bit overwhelming to sift through all the options. Thankfully their Design Center offered expert guidance.

Absolutely disgusted!!! 2 out of 4 pallets of brick I received were broken. When I went to complain, the manager wouldnt even come talk to me. All I wanted was an apology, and to be assured it wouldnt happen again. Lost my business for life! Guess they are so big that one contractor isnt worth their time. They should be ashamed! They dont even deserve one star!

I love to go to Thompsons Building Materials! They have a huge selection of mulch, planting soils, amend, gravel, blocks, bricks, faux veneers, fountains, statues, outdoor grills, islands, and plants...you name it they have it or can get it. They sell stains and stuccos, etc all manner of exterior treatments. I love to walk around there and get ideas. They have several custom water features, such as water falls and pools, to give you ideas. They carry a good selection of plants so you can do shade areas, full sun and everything in between. They yard decores are unique and I just love it all.

Very friendly staff and pretty much have everything from gardening to constructions.

Great people the workers talk to you and assist you with information about the plants you are buying I love this place. Friendly with dogs. 😀

I give it a 1 star becuase my herb plants died 3 weeks after purchase and come to find out there is no warranty after reading receipt...and after reviewing receipt i noticed i was billed more than what the plants stated cost....i purchased them from clearance section...i told female teller when being charged and she only charged me correctly for 2 of the 5 plants i purchased. Not going back here for small plants or herbs lowes/ homedepot return policy is a whole lot better. Good for material and big plants/trees 😔

My whole life I thought Tompson was like an Orco distributor....masonsry supplies like brick and cinder block. Probably due mostly to the fact that my highschool masonsry class purchased material from them. But boy was I wrong. Ive lived two miles from Thompson for the last 8 years, drove by it countless times, and never once even considered (let alone noticed) what they actually have to offer.As others have said, can be a little daunting when you first walk in with no direction. Went in looking for a Chinese Pistache tree. Found the tree area in short order, but it was only the fruit trees....rows and rows of them. Finally I resorted to asking for help, and gentleman named Juan was more than happy to take me to the trees. That particular tree they only had in a 2 box. He knew exactly what I wanted, and helped me pick the best one, and offered his opinion on amendments I should add for the terrible rocky soil in this area.I wasnt necessarily going for a larger box tree, but all in all it was a good buy. Starting with a larger tree (Im estimating 3-4 years old) will be easier in the long run, and it was about $15-20 cheaper than I would of expected.All in all, an excellent experience and Ill be back for sure.
