This place has been around forever. Stopped by recently. Its a little disorganized but thats part of the charm. Lots of old and new comics and other geeky things.
Never open when we try to go and the one time they were the guy was very rude and not helpful at all. They need to update their hours or honestly, should just close for good since they are never there anyways.
Best place Ive been going there 30 or 40 years plus but have to LOL its the only game in town but still its a pretty good place to go
This was a great old school comic shop. My soon Found some back issues he had been looking for and their new release wal was full of all kinds of independent releases! Really enjoyed the visit!
Many unique items,very helpful.
The store has an amazing assortment of new and old comics. I went there mostly for silver age comics which he had plenty in stock. Prices are fair on back issues. Store is a little crowded and could use some organizing but we are in a pandemic and staffing is difficult in any field. We brought our kids in ( 2.4.6 and 8) and of course they had to use the restroom, the owner was kind enough to let us use the restroom and it was very clean. If you are looking for a place that has great selection then this is the place. We drove in from Lansing and I will continue to make this trip.
Staff is always helpful.Bought my first asm from the old owner when it was located next to donna doughnuts.Keep mine marvel
The owner of this comic shop had the courtesy to give me a call back to tell me the graphic novel I called about 20 minutes ago had just arrived, made my day!
Today’s the 24th of April and the store was closed at 11am, sign on door says out for anniversary Sunday April 4th. So first time visiting the store, and I won’t be trying again.
If youre a comic lover this is the place for you
Excellent selection of great comics
The owner Lou is a friendly guy. The store is run-down a little bit, but it is hard to maintain the store and sell collectibles not online. :) His selection of numerous collectible things is awesome. He has become my local to go store for my needs, and I always check Comic Relief first before going anywhere else.
Great service and selection.
Comic selection is nice. Every time I go in the owner never has a mask on. Join the team and mask up, bud.
Always Super Friendly and Willing to help! Big Lou is the Comic Guy for You 😁
This store is like a small oasis for my nerd dumb. They were able to take care of my magic the gathering needs, and the store is filled with many other awesome things to check out
Fair selection of back issues and collectables. Been a staple for decades...
Owners super friendly and knowledgeable. Amazing selection, well organized, priced very fairly.
Place is pretty run down. No prices on cards in the display cases. Its in a very, very rough location too. That being said, if youre going for comics, everything is ultra organized and kept in pristine condition. From what I saw they only carried magic cards and comics.
Honestly the 2nd best comic book shop Ive ever been to and I stop at a lot when I travel
Comic Relief is the nostalgic go to shop for all superhero and fantasy/fiction lovers. Great prices! Outstanding gentlemen running the store. I highly recommend this comic book store over any if youre debating on any. Id drive an hour away rather than down the road just to give the business!1. Great Prices2. Negotiable prices when buying bundle3. Offer a Guild member saving system4. Down to earth comic nerd5. Very nice hard to find and rare Comics6. Toys, action figures, shirts, posters7. THEY HAVE EVERYTHING!!
The owner is a very cool guy and he does his best to get you the comics you want. If DC would quit screwing up, then you would have them all. Thanks Lou
Called them on the phone prior to showing up to make sure they had a stack of Pokemon cards to go through. They sure did! All in a dirty old box! My girlfriend and I spent a solid hour going through cards we assumed were in a $.25 box but no.We get a stack of cards and the employee then proceeds to price out EVERY SINGLE CARD.Before he stated that the box is full of $.25 - $1 cards. We were there an addition 45 minutes. The inside also looks like a mix between a dungeon and a dirty basement. Not sure where he got the prices for these cards but they started to be worth more than $1 very quickly. We put over half of them back because the prices were outrageous. We wont ever come back. At least Retro Replay was EXTREMELY fair with their pricing if not excellent. At least the employee was nice to us. Only good thing about the store when we visited.
I go here every Wednesday for my books. The staff is very cool and the place is well organized which can be difficult for comic book stores. It has that cool comic smell too.
Great selection, staff and prices!
They had a big selection. I went in for the new Venom series and they had old issues that were going for double to 5x the cover price.Im new to buying comics in store so maybe that is normal. I didnt feel comfortable challenging their prices so my girlfriend and I just left.Store was not that bad though.
Nifty little spot. Some cool rare items come in from time to time. Would love to see this place expand to a larger location and get more Pathfinder like items. Very courteous staff however that keep you wanting to come back.
These guys welcomed me in after I had to find a new store and got me set up right away! I primarily buy the new books, and they can usually get the variants I want. I never have to worry about missing a book.
Good assortment good prices
Great place to geek out. Comics, Magic, D&D, and boatd games.
This store delivers inferior customer service that is nearly immeasurable! a complete disservice to proper customer relations. Ive on several occasions tried to acquire products and services from here whether it was for Magic the Gathering or Comics that i wanted to reacquire and was met with apathy and disdain towards my presence in this store. i have never greeted upon arrival at anytime i have come here, and after an egregiously long period of waiting and attempting to get service, it was simply put terrible! There was no icebreakers when greeted just a sickened look of your interrupting my tv program look on their faces and i could hear the tv in the background (judge judy). this is beyond unacceptable for a local shop. i try and do my best to support local business but i can assure you i would not recommend nor support this store. there are other local shops that deserve your money and time, please seek them out instead, you wont forget it
Great place allot of selection
Go here for damn near every comic series.
Nice store. Well organized helpful staff.
I have been going there for 25 years and have never had a problem. The guys are really cool and go out of the way to make sure that you are a satisfied customer. If they dont have it, they will look it up and try to find it. Also, the store is very clean and organize and finding things are easy to do.
Lots of cool stuff
Im not a big fan of stores that feel like someones basement. The dude working the counter looked homeless. Most of the display shelves were empty even though there seemed to be plenty of junk stashed in the back. The AC was not enough to keep up with twenty five grown men. Other than that, it was great.
I stopped in to find key comics and did I ever stumble upon some great choices!
Friendly place!
Work hard to make sure everyone gets the comics they need. Smaller shop, so you might want to get a subscription to make sure they keep a copy of the better selling comics for you. Great selection of back issues.
Comic relief is such a great place to either start getting into comic books/magic the gathering/and even dungeons and dragons. If your a die hard collector the owners actively offer a service to get all your favorite comic books delivered to the store and hold onto them for you. They have weekly magic the gathering get togethers with a very active player base that fills the back of the store and there are snacks for sale.My kids love the Freddy Krueger pinball machine and full size Spiderman statue the most, of course!Im so glad we have this gem available to Genesee county.
Nice comic shop with tons and tons of back issues, also has different TCG games and events.Update: Wanted to update my review, I have seen some other reviews talk about the store being disorganized and I cant for the life of me understand where this comes from. The boxes are all organized by age, title, issue number. I can go in this store and find a very specific comic from a certain age in less than two minutes out of probably 200+ longboxes. There arent many stores as organized as this place. This is THE shop to go to for comic back issues.
I frequent this location and usually visit on Wednesdays for the new releases. The proprietor is usually at the register and has been helpful on multiple occasions. I do however wish that the back issues were a little better organized, otherwise its usually a good experience.
I used to visit here with my father over 30 years ago. I lost him over a decade ago but still feel like I have a part of him through them. Thank you for helping to keep memories alive for generations to come.
These guys know their stuff. Always an interesting discussion going on. Whether you go in every Wednesday or once in a great while, in some ways its more like a hangout or second home than just a store.
Great little comic book store. Huge inventory of current and past issues of your favorite comic books from Marvel, DC, Image and Dark Horse and others. Also games for the enthusiast included Majic, the Gathering, pokemon cards and more. Friendly and knowledgeable staff to help you find everything you are looking for.
Small store but decent stock of new and old comics. They have D&D Adventure League and also Magic! Check it out!
The owner is a complete tool bag.
I am going to leave an honest review. In response, and based upon other honest reviews, the owner will probably be rude and tell me “good story”. But here goes: Parking is horrible. I had to park across the street and walk over. The store looks run down and shady. When you walk inside, it is not much better. Those who said it looks like someone’s basement are being generous. It is very disorganized, extremely dirty, dusty and has an unpleasant odor. No one was working at the register and no one ever greeted or acknowledged us the whole time we were in the store. There was some kind of card tournament going on in the back of the store. People had fast food out everywhere and were taking very loudly, including creative strings of curse words. Some merchandise in the store was covered in dust so thick I could not read the price tag. There was a dry erase calendar in the corner of the store that still had dates and events from July 2015. Everything appeared to be overpriced and I felt like I needed gloves to look through things. We left without purchasing anything and will not return based upon this experience. We went across town to the store on Richfield Rd. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. It was clean and well organized, no dust, no bad odors. They will have my business.
Excellent, friendly, and knowledgeable. Lou can help you with all your nerdy needs!
Great little comic shop with that hometown feel and tons of magic the gathering and yugi oh cards for buy and preview! great place to go to find that special comic or card your looking for!!
They have a great selection, pretty much anything you want. Just be prepared to pay a bit for it. The staff is a little annoying/awkward but friendly and very knowledgeable. If youre into Magic the gathering or table top they got alot of that, perhaps too much, for me at least. I always feel like Im interrupting a Magic game when I walk in and start looking at comics. Over all if you need something and cant find it elsewhere, this is the place to pick it up.
Wasnt opened on Sunday as stated on Google or their Facebook page
Flints premiere comic shop. Friendly staff, great selection. Also fantastic place to play Magic the Gathering.
Comic Relief is not solely dedicated to comics. They have a wide selection of books weekly. They also seek to get the books you want. They also deal in most forms of gaming needs. They excel at MTG and other card games. They also are a good rpg store and will order most board games aswell. I should know I use the store extensively for my comic and gaming needs.
Its that old school shop you love going to when you were a kid.Could look for hours
The person running the store was not very friendly at all. I guess they had good selection of comics.
Awesome experience. I am new to the world of comics and these guys were happy to explain and assist. Ive only been to a few other stores, and the selection here is much better.
Good store. Been going to there for years. Clean, lots of back issues. Well organized. Some back issues a bit high. But selection makes up for that.
Lots off neet stuff, but way over priced. For example a $16 captain america shield on Amazon is $25.
It was good, not perfect but good. Much to the surprise of the associate they had comics I was looking for the he didnt think they would. Maybe im spoiled by the store I frequented in the past but I think this will become my new go to if they are able to keep me up to date on the few series i read.
Great people, good events and games. A Flint staple.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Large selection of comics, toys, and board games.
Overpriced, no one will help you and if youre female, youll feel very weird being in here. Pick a different comic shop.
Ive been coming here for almost 20 years and loved every moment of it. Great atmosphere and even better customer service. Competitive prices and a good selection.
Awesome store, they have so much.
Great place to get great quality comics and play games with friends!
Ive had a pull list here for almost five years. They were the only comic store in flint to even attempt to carry the walking dead when it first came out. Theyve always been the most helpful guys every time Ive gone in. Theyve had wonderful suggestions and got me interested in series I didnt even know about. Theyve also ordered and kept on hand the Atomic Robo series I couldnt find anywhere else local. Stop by this place for sure
Great place to fond new and old comics. Little on the high side, but might have the one you are looking for.
Had just what I needed. Great help in finding issues.
Was a very friendly place but now I get treated so bad for asking questions about upcoming comics I will never step foot in again. Ive went there for over 20 years makes me sad was a great place but rude employees Ive spent thousands of dollars there I wish they would treat your customers better they buy your product.
Love this place been going here for years both MTG and comics
Great place to pick up Magic the Gathering Cards. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly.
GREAT staff here .helps with any comic books.
Great selection and service!
This is a reply to the comment the owner left earlier today on my boyfriends honest review. If I spent $8 in cards, why was I was CHARGED nearly $15 for 34ish cards!? I was QUOTED $47 for 50ish cards ALL of which were taken from 1 box in which I was informed ranged from $.25-$1. AND the employee informed us AFTER I handed him the cards I wished to purchase that he had to go through and price EVERY. SINGLE. CARD. not just the rares. If you watched the video then you would have noticed that much. Not to mention the card prices from TCG are lower than what I was quoted in store. Why was a Mistys Goldeen priced as $4 out of a box full of common cards? Shouldnt it be behind the glass like the others?Btw its less than a dollar online. And no, we werent there for JUST 35 mins. We sat through a yugioh tournament. You have this neat little timer up in the corner of your shop. So I know we were there for at least an hour going through the box itself. My boyfriend had INQUIRED about other boxes to look through but I had said No, I dont want to do that being they close at 4. In which the response of the employee was, because of the tournament, they are technically open until its over. So 430ish.I have no problem bringing you in the receipt of my transaction saying I spent $14 because if thats the case I would like the difference back. You say in the previous response the cards I purchased were only suppose to cost me $8.We will never shop here again. Stick to comics.Edit:: Yes, my bf and i were in today from like 3pm to a little after 4pm. My review was in response to the reply that was left on my bfs review about the experience today (1/27/19).
A galore of knowledge awaits your inkling to read Fantastic Adventures
Using their online pull list, they consistently pulled covers I didnt order (Cover B when I ordered A, Cover A when I ordered B, etc.) First couple times I thought maybe I was misclicking and ordering the wrong books, but I went back through every order and made sure I wasnt. Went back to exchange a book for the CORRECT version, but it was sold out. Thats when I realized they either pay no attention whatsoever when filling orders (which defeats the ENTIRE purpose of pre-ordering), or intentionally pull (presumably) less popular covers and hope you dont notice until its too late.
Lots of comics. Well organized. Gaming area in back prt of store for DnD and the like. Worth a visit.
I loved coming to this store with my dad when I was younger, and it is still one of my go-to places for the best deals.
Lue is fabulous. He has excellent recommendation of what to read next. Always money well spent.
The owner is awesome and the store hosts free comic Saturdays at the first Saturday of the month each month!
Literal amazing selection. Great for comic lovers and nerds of all kinds
Was in town to catch 2017 UM Spring Game. Stumbled into this place. Nice selection of comics, figures, and other goodies. Cant wwait to stop by on my next trip into Michigan.
Older place not as professional as other stores more like kids run it dirty shelves and products not a place I feel comfortable hanging out in but a 12 year old would just there style
Lou is the best! He sat down and made sure the little kids know how to play and tought them if they didnt. They have a large collection of comic books and cards. They have MTG Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon. Its amazing! The atmosphere is great and welcoming. I would give it 2000000/5 but Google said no.
Horrible customer service, was not greeted when I entered and when i was finally serviced after an agreesiously long time two customers were bumped ahead of me before i could complete my transaction. I will not do business here again. Terrible business practices!
Ive been going here since I was a kid and I wouldnt go anywhere else. Theyve got a great selection of old and new comics, and if they dont have what youre looking for theyll find it.
This is an excellent place to get books from for comics for kids and adults of all ages
This store is completely over priced by double, with books in not great condition. And they refuse to deal or barter on anything. When everything is doubled in price. Idk how they even stay in business. Don’t go here.
I came there with my kids. He was waiting on a customer. He told me to go to a table at the back of his small store. After the customer left. I stood there waiting for him as he stood behind ths register acting like he couldnt see me. I walked over and asked if he would help me and he said he forgot about me and my kids in this very small store.... with two kids in a comic book store it had to be hard to forget we were there... and the only ones there! When he did help us he was very rude, made me feel unwelcome. My daughter even mentioned when we left that he didnt like us 😐 I had also messaged him that we were coming before we came there...
Great values and varieties of comics and graphic novels, from golden age to mordern.
I dont like the neckbeards
Friendly atmosphere and an awesome selection of comics and cards.
Expensive, rude and unsocial. Would not even look unless you like mean, rude people and outrageous prices
Lots lots lots of back issues. Its a little hard to find some things, but the owner knew exactly where things were once I asked to find what I wanted.
Best place to get comics in Flint
Small little comic/card shop. They have Friday Night Magic but I dont know if they do the pre-releases.
Good service, wide selection, but upmarks most if not all older books and doesnt bag and board new books
