I really like the restring of my bow with Mongolian Brown. Very customer service oriented!

High praise for Mr. Joseph Yoo, owner and luthier. It was my first time bringing my beloved violin in for a crack and ‘overhaul’, which was long overdue. It required the removal of a bass bar and other miscellaneous wood glued inside the top and I had concerns about how it would sound after the removal and repair. I’d also brought in a 2nd violin for inspection and possible repair. Mr. Yoo’s professionalism was immediately apparent and appreciated. As others have mentioned, Joseph went the extra mile. He rejuvenated my violin - it sounds amazing once again and looks beautiful. The 2nd violin has huge sentimental value and Joseph also brought it back to life. He even put a patch on my husband’s double bass while we enjoyed shops in the mall. I don’t often make recommendations, but want others to feel confident of this trustworthy, talented and honest man.

This review may be a bit long, but it is well deserved!First off, I am thankful that there is finally a violin shop in Fairfax! I have been playing the violin for about 12 years now and remember having to drive quite a bit for repairs, sheet music, etc. However, now I dont have to as this place is so close! I have not played the violin in many years, but wanted to pick it up again. When I initially called Fairfax Fine Violins, just to have my bow re-haired, they were able to do it within a few hours, which was great! Upon picking it up, Joseph was nice to take the time to discuss the quality of my current violin (the one I bought in elementary school - HA) and bow. I wanted to try out a better quality violin, so I rented one for the first 3 months. Unfortunately due to health issues, I was not able to play it and when I went to return it, I had an outstanding charge. Joseph was very understanding of my recent health concerns and went above and beyond to try and accommodate my pending payment. I have heard of businesses going out of their way to help their customers, but I never experienced it until now. I will always be thankful for this kind gesture!!

Joseph (owner) is such a gentleman. He is knowledgeable of the instruments because he is a trained luthier. We visited his shop to purchase a bow and he was patient and provided excellent advice. Whats most surprising is that his prices are highly competitive with other shops in the area. Given his expertise and our buyers experience, we strongly recommend visiting his shop.

I grew up playing cello and now my son is playing the cello I grew playing. I knew I could trust Joseph 100% with a beautiful repair job on my cello and that he would give me a fair price. We go here for everything from music stands, restringing bows, rental (violin for my daughter). I would recommend this place 1000% for customer service, and for top notch care of any stringed instrument.

This is such a great business! Our daughters Orchestra teacher referred us to Fairfax fine violins, and we are so glad she did. The place is beautiful, the staff is professional and tactful, and they take such great care of your instruments. Theyre not pushy at all and really work with you to inform you on the work that they are performing. If I could give a sixth star I would!

We were so happy to find this shop! Our daughters rental violin is of such fine quality that her school orchestra teacher asked where it came from. The rental price was great too. Another advantage is that all the rental fees can be applied toward the purchase of an instrument. I am so grateful that the shop owner has brought his skills and inventory to our area!

Im glad to have found a professional Violin store much closer to me! Mr. Yoo was very kind! I wish this place was here for a long time. Its only been almost a year since theyve been here I believe. This place will not RIP you off AT ALL. It has everything needed for your violin care. They can repair right from the shop. Surely it is pricey like all other places, but services are valuable here. I would recommend to get a Violin, Viola, or Cello from this store because that is just how good it is. You can even rent the place for events like recitals. I give this place a solid 5/5!

I bought a 3/4 cello after trading-in 1/2. Through out the whole process, Mr. Yoo was a great pleasure to work with. He was very prompt in email exchanges and phone calls. I was impressed by the very well-maintained and decorated shop. He carefully and openly explained details on the cello and bows that he prepared for us to choose. We were very happy with the final cello we chose and were confident that we bought the best one at the price we were offered. I wont hesitate to recommend Mr. Yoo and his shop to my friends and will definitely go back for future upgrades.

The shop is very clean and the staff are very friendly. If I need something by a specific date, they will get it done by then with quality work. I am very impressed by this shop and will definitely continue to work with them.

So happy to have found a shop that specializes in stringed instruments in Fairfax. I found the shop to be pleasantly calm and not overcrowded with instruments. The front showroom is rather charming with a vintage radio playing classical music, a quirky clock fashioned out of a violin case, and a beautiful baby grand piano. The luthier, Mr. Yoo (the cello doctor), was very kind and took time to answer questions and explain what would be done with the instrument. I also purchased a new light case that was on sale, which will ultimately save my shoulder from breaking after having used a 14 pounder for 10 years. Have already spread the word on this place. Support your local small business!

I’m a professional violinist and just had my bow rehaired here - the service was wonderful, my bow feels and sounds great, and the rehair was done in an afternoon! Will definitely be back for work on my violin when it needs it.
