Very clean, some cool cars. The building is very neat. Took our family only about 30 min to browse through all three floors. James Bond car were really well done with the videos off the cars on a monitor next to the vehicle . I would have given it a 5 star except for the price for adults is $17 and $12 for kids. So for the whole family it can get pricey.

Awesome place! I’d suggest planning on an hour here. More if you really like to read the history notes, I was able to do it all in 45 min but kinda had to rush through. Plan for more than an hour if you buy the vault access. Probably worth upgrading to the vault if you’re really into cars. A lot of the cars I saw on google photos were in the vault. Great for little guys, they have an awesome gift shop with great toys and souvenirs

We visited for the ‘Bond in Motion’ exhibit which was great mostly because of being able to get up close and personal with the DB5 and because we are very avid 007 fans. But I spent 18 years living in SE Michigan and was at The Henry Ford a lot so the Petersen’s collection of cars was fine, good even — but not worthy of 5 stars for me personally. In compared to that and other car museums I’ve been to in the UK and Europe. I think it’s an interesting collection but not fascinating enough that I’d need to ever go back. And while the cars are nice, for me it was the displays and the layout in the end that left me wanting. It’s just several floors of cars with some loose [but lacking in sense] organization and a little bit of info. Could be a lot better, I think. For a museum. It felt more like seeing inside someone’s large, white garage.

This museum made me appreciate vehicles of all sorts in a way I would’ve never have thought of. It’s fascinating seeing the transition of design, aesthetics, shapes, and materials used over time. Each piece has its own unique architecture and story to tell. I love how they decided to keep the dirt on some off road vehicles, makes it feel more lifelike. It’s art in a different form, but captivating nonetheless. The building itself is stunning to look at and even more beautiful at night! Highly recommend going here!

Great selection of cars to see on the 3 floors. Some old, some new, some used in films, some owned by celebrities.Their special showcase when I was there centered around the Bond films which I am not particularly interested in, but they rotate this showcase periodically. The main attraction and general admission is certainly worth it. You also have the option to pay 25 additional dollars to see the warehouse (The Vault) which is a somewhat fast paced tour of the underground parking garage they keep all the cars not on display. (Fast paced in that they mentioned particular cars and skip many due to time constraints). I am personally partial to sport and supercars with little interest in vehicles before the 70s and 80s. The tour spent the most time talking about the oldest cars in the collection, which if youve seen one horseless carriage youve seen them all, in my mind. They did have a few new Ferraris at the time as well as 3 nice McLarens, but the warehouse is on rotation with the display upstairs so its hard to say whats upstairs and whats down.

This is the “go to” place for any car enthusiasts out there! It is very easy to spend hours looking at the diverse vehicle collection that the museum has to offer. There are 3 levels of vehicles that are open to look at. There are countless makes, models, and time eras. The cost for admission for adults is $16, which is very reasonable. Additionally, you can pay $28 extra and receive a guided “vault tour” which includes an underground paradise of over 250 classic vehicles!

The Petersen Automotive Museum is perfect for any car lover, new or vintage. The descriptions of the cars tell more than I was expecting (the yellow Pantera was Elvis’ and still has bullet holes in it). The “vault” is an add on that you must go to, for an extra $20 there are guided tours that last an hour and a half in the basement of the museum that stretches a whole city block. They don’t allow pictures in the vault, but the amount of cars you’ll see, and how diverse the collection is makes it worth it! (They post pictures of some cars from the vault on Instagram if you’d like an idea of what you could see).

For $16 an adult this is a pretty good price for an hour and a half! They didn’t have any Formula 1 cars on display but they did have a lot of US history. It’s clear which car brands are sponsors of the museum so if you’re going specifically for a certain type of car, you might want to purchase the $20 vault ticket. They have a bunch of cool LA vehicles from movies so def work checking out. Apparently Notorious BIG was shot after attending a party here which is kinda neat.Park on the street a few blocks away for free or else parking is $17!

Ive been a car enthusiast all my life. The first books I remember reading were old issues of my Dads collection of Car and Driver magazine. This museum felt like it was made just for me. Every level of this museum brought new wonders to behold. Historical artifacts on level 3, movie cars and a F1 exhibit on floor 2, and the James Bond exhibit on the first floor, every room brought new joys and wonders. Three floors of vehicle displays are included with admission. There is an additional (steep) $20. fee to view another approximately 150 tightly parked, beautifully restored, vehicles in the basement vault - viewable at scheduled times only (11:00, 1:00 & 3:00). There was a large section of cars cordoned off, not accessible for viewing. I would have liked to have seen more classic cars from the 60s & 70s (there were very few from that period, in comparison). There were docents available to answer questions and provide vehicle histories. There are restrooms conveniently located on all floors (accessible by stairs and an elevator).

This was my second visit to the Petersen, this time I brought my son with me and we did the vault tour in addition to the main tour. We spent about 4 hrs in the museum and could easily have spent more. This collection and its presentation is really unparalleled! From some of the earliest automobiles to the newest with luxury cars, unique designs, prototypes, race cars, rally cars, motorcycles, trucks, Baja racers, dune buggies, and movie cars, theres something to interest anyone. The James Hetfield collection and James Bond exhibits are both incredible. Our tour of the vault was the icing on the cake. With several hundred cars in the vault its impossible to learn about each one, but our guide Steven gave us background on quite a few individual cars. Some of the ones in this collection have very interesting stories, some are one of a kind, but all are beautiful. Im sure Ill be back again for more some day.

An automotive enthusiasts must see when in Southern California, this museum houses as much artistry as its provocative exterior suggests. I very much enjoyed my time here and plan to return for new exhibits to come.Parking was ample however it cost as much as the days basic ticket. I didnt mind since I found the regular day pass to be a great value already and, to be fair, there are exhibits within the parking lot to enjoy! The cafe was closed the day of my visit so that may be something for next time. I plan to take The Vault tour in the future while on the subject of things missed.I cant wait to return.

This is a must check out for any automotive enthusiast, but can also be interesting for those with less automotive interest. Ticket prices are fair for the collection. Theres a good variety with movies props, special vehicles, & automotive related items. The vault option is extra & I was not able to check that out due to limited time. Tickets seem to be purchased for a time period. For example, my ticket was 2 to 5 I believe.Downsides: Charge for parking is excessive, so I would use ride share. This was one of the Must See Places on My Birthday Vacation List. My grandson and I absolutely loved it. There was an Easy Convenient Parking Garage that was just a Short Walk to the Front Door. We Were asked to check our Back Pack at The Security Office, but, it Was better than Lugging it Around on our Tour. We got our Tickets and were Shown to the Elevator. You start at the Top Floor (3rd) and walk yourself down. For Me, it was a lot of Really Pretty Cars. For My Grandson, it was more than that. He really studied the Makes and Models and read All The Information about each one. The Museum was Cool, Quiet and the Lighting was Perfect for Taking Pictures. The Collections were Grouped and Displayed with Lots of Room to see around All Sides of Each Vehicle. We went very Early and Since We Did, there Werent a lot of People to work around to get the really good Photos. I especially liked the Bat Man Exhibit. I was a bit startled when I saw a Life Size Bat Man staring at me from between Two Bat Mobiles. But, he was Harmless. There was also an Exhibit of Dream Cars designed by a Famous Musician. As a Bass Player, those were really Cool for Me, because they had Some Guitars and Amps that Matched the Vehicles. The Paint Schemes were Vibrant and Flawless. I also like the Mini Electric Vehicles from Way Back When. We Took the Spiral Staircase down to each Next Floor. I kept seeing something at the Bottom of the Spiral. When we finally reached the Last Floor, I really got a Kick! It was the Transformer Bumble Bee and his Volkswagon. Larger Than Life. I especially Enjoyed the DeLorean from the Back to the Future Exhibit. Those Movies have always Been Favorites in our House. And, It was the Actual Car from the Movies. So Cool. We were almost done with the Tour when I finally hand to find The Ladies Room. I was Pleased that It was very Clean, Well Stocked and had Plenty of Hand Sanitizer readily available for Extra Peace of Mind. We had spent almost Three Hours looking around and admiring the Entire Collection. There was One Part we Missed. Its called The Vault. We ran Short on Time. Maybe, the Next Time well Start with That.. I took a lot of Photos and for The Price of Admission it was by far the Best Value for Entertainment of any of The Museums we went to. I highly recommend The Petersen Auto Museum. If you are a Car Person, definitely, put it on Your Vacation Must See List.
