Exceptionally nice people - except for the Englishman that worked there on my last and final visit. But he admitted he was born and raised Andalusia so I havent figured that out. He said he taught college. He also expressed the opinion that if I made $1M a year I should be taxed $900k because I didnt need it and it would go to help others. He would not comment on his own donations. I did not appreciate communists being in charge of Coffee Country history so I have not returned, I have paid no more dues and truly wish I had my donations and map/document contributions back. I was so disgusted I have not even spoke about it for years. I have ancestors in other counties and have chosen to concentrate on their available information. The one star is for the Societys choice to allow him there as an authority.

I love this place! I am not from the area originally but I recommend everyone who has never been to go take a look inside their gift shop! Very unique items! I love their collection of Alabama Clay figurines (my wife bought one to begin with but now we own FIVE). Mrs. Diane is very knowledgable and so is Mr. Doug! Great learning experience for sure!

I wanted to update this page to add the hours they are open but for some reason thats not an option. They are open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. I visited on Saturday around 12:30

Absolutely a must when wanting to learn more about the history of this area! I have a few ancestors that were linked to the area and the historical society was able to help me trace some of my roots back. They also have an extensive collection of books for sale as well as tshirts! I love my Fear No Weevil tshirt! Thank you Mr. Doug and Mrs. Diane!
