After my morning walk downtown I was in the mood for a cup of coffee and a pastry. I spotted the Grand Avenue Cafe and oh my goodness....what a quaint, lovely cafe. I ordered the fried sausage, egg, cheese, green pepper breakfast wrap.Great pricing and portion size. Friendly service. My new favorite breakfast nook.

For ambience of sidewalk tables. Average for sausage omelet served with no toast and lack of flavor. My wife liked her poached eggs

The food was good. But the wait to receive it was just unnecessary. The wait for even water was unnecessary. Watched another couple sit and wait to be served let alone acknowledged, they eventually got up and left. Asked for a box for my leftovers, our server brought me a dish of ketchup instead. I would love to come back and try again, but dont want the same experience.

I had a very positive experience at Grand Avenue during the three visits that I have had. Their seasonal almond joy drink was terrific I also love that they are being very considerate of folks during the Coronavirus season. I also really liked their home made granola, and I was able to keep it stored for a while to add to my morning yogurt and oats! They also play very good music at this place and the staff genuinely cares. I am looking forward to coming here more and more.

Was not a great dining experience. Took forever to even be acknowledged that we would like a table. Service not great, food is mediocre at best. Loved the lipstick mark on my latte drink glass that was left from a previous customer! I do not recommend...want a really good breakfast? Go to Chickadees restaurant.

Visiting the Grand avenue Cafe is always a must after I have taken my 92 year old mother in law to the doctors at Mayo. She has been going to this location since they opened way back when. The people are always so personable and friendly and the food is absolutely the best. They use the most high quality fresh ingredients and have such wonderful food selections to tantalize the taste buds. I tried the bread pudfing during my last visit. It was my first time trying it. It is to dye for! Such a comfort food that transports you back to your youth sitting down at your gramdmothers kitchen table. Yep....I will be going there every time I miss her. Thanks Grand avenue for your timeless culinary creations, service and dedication to our safety. Much appreciation!

Owner exhibited a prime example of age discrimination in putting on hold (owners words) of a senior citizen server. Effectively replaced with newer younger models with no reason given. Disgusting behavior by a business owner who should be ashamed of her actions in such a wonderful, diverse community. Discrimination of any kind has NO place in Eau Claire. Just be mindful that any patronage of this place is support of such behavior.

Do not recommend. For the price, there are FAR better options available with better coffee and food. They may have the aesthetic, but the fare doesnt follow through. The omelet: eggs were rubbery, mushrooms werent well cooked, dish wasnt well seasoned. Hashbrowns that came with it were HARD (not crispy). Ordering the eggs Benedict was a huge regret as well: broken hollandaise sauce that was separated and clotting on top of eggs that were definitely not poached and hard cooked. Small plate, which would have been fine if it actually tasted good, but for the fact it didnt and at the listed price, was definitely a negative. The saving grace and only reason this is two stars is bc of the bread pudding. That was the one item that was worth the wait.

Were driving back to MKE and this was a nice, (very) quick stop with an interesting menu. I had a basil pesto pizza sandwich, which was pretty good. The husband had the Cajun chicken salad and he enjoyed it. The place was nothing fancy but it satisfied our hunger and was better than going to Jimmy Johns. I gave it a 3 because the table arrangements were awkward and the interior decor need some serious help. My husband (unintentionally) sat next to a return duct and it blew cold air on him (it is winter, 11 degrees out).

Stopped here on a snow day from work, so it read not busy at all. Still, a few regulars were in for coffee and a chat along with a student who seemed to have wandered away from the University to find some realr breakfast. The guys behind the counter were friendly and accommodating. The wooden table and chair arrangements, pressed metal ceiling and kitchy wall paper runner of book spines atop the wainscoting contrasted with the funky beats of Brick House, James Brown and Peter Frampton playing over the radio. Is this Madison, or am I still in Eau Claire? They have my favorite double espresso drink available in three sizes. Alongside a warmed up piece of bacon, cheddar and mushroom quiche accompanied by a piece of cranberry-wild rice toast, my appetite was fully satisfied.Ill be back, maybe this summer to check out the lunch menu and outdoor seating.
