One of the more modernized Big Ys. Im jealous because the one in my area doesnt even have self check out lol. Some of the shoppers were giving me dirty looks but this America! Linda the cashier was very nice and Charles with bagging was very helpful!!

Sadly while the 3 sandwiches I got for myself and coworkers were great, the service was not. Jackie the sandwich maker was rude and condescending throughout the sandwich making process. Can not say I feel welcome to come back and I honestly think it was the intention.

The Ellington Big Y fresh prepared foods area is outstanding. Great quality, freshness, prepared with professionalism and care. Excellent food service staff!

Good selection. Early morning was my time to go. But the prices have gone way up compared to other stores. The stocking of the shelves and blocking the way is not worth going anymore. Only one cashier at 7 am. Everyone else stands around trying to force you to use the self checkout.

Todays experience was the same as usual at Big Y in Ellington, excellent. I personally do not like to wait in long lines, bag my groceries, or get a bad attitude from people that do not want to be at work, like at another local grocery store. I am never disappointed when I leave Big Y in Ellington, CT. On top of outstanding customer service, you also get top quality products at competitive prices. Keep up the good work Big Y Ellington, CT.

For a business that talks about supporting their community. I dont see them as an option to have self delivery for DTA transactions. For this they get 3 stars otherwise it would be a 5. They have a good selection of foods and is my ideal store because they have a celaic aisle thats is a great variety. But with no transportation and currently employed. Aldis and price chopper have been supportive with my DTA transactions. Wish they would hop on board like all the other grocery stores....

I only shop at Big Y for the pre-made food / grinders from time to time. Normally I have a good sandwich experience but the last 2 times Ive been there makes me not want to go back. The same woman made my sandwich twice (the one who wears the black bandana mask, mid 50s probably).The first time it was NYE so it was busy and I just thought she was overwhelmed or something so I let it go. My second experience, was the same as the first and there was no reason for it. She was basically yelling at me, rushing me and making a really bad sandwich. Sandwiches arent very hard to make but she apparently doesnt know how to make one. It was such an unpleasant experience and I wont go back as long as she is working in the sandwich department.

Normally my sandwich is very good from here. Lately I get home and this is what I unwrap.. This is just lazy and no pride in the employees work... unfortunately as much as I love their grinders they will be loosing me as a customer

I like this stores organization set up of aisles. The employees are helpful with any questions. Prices are comparable to four other grocery stores within a ten mile radius. Sales are great. Produce is fresh & looks great.

Good store with ample parking. Most of the shelves are stocked well, minus disinfectants like every other store. Would like to see them install self check out stations though.

I have been a loyal customer at the Ellington Big Y since moving here 12 years ago. It is a clean and well-stocked store, and usually has outstanding employees. Today was a different experience. After shopping through a few aisles, I noticed that two store employees in the meat department, and one in produce, were wearing their required Covid masks below their noses. In fact, I was unable to approach the produce I was interested in because the incorrectly masked produce man was standing in front of it. So, I went to customer service and told a very nice young woman at the counter about it. She seemed shocked and said she would take care of it.A few minutes later, there was a general recorded announcement reminding the public to wear masks. I thought I may not have been clear that it was employees who were non-compliant. Then, a few aisles later, I came upon yet another employee with an uncovered nose! By this time, I was livid. So, I asked him if he understood that the mask doesnt work if it is not covering his nose. He glared at me and said I know. Hmmm. So then, I asked him if he understood that wearing a mask protects others. He glared at me and said I know.When I checked out, I told the woman at the register, who was a customer service manager. She weakly apologized and said that they have to wear them sometimes 8 hours and its hard. I asked her to ask the employees how theyd feel about their surgeon whipping off his mask in mid-surgery because it bothered him.This is completely unacceptable.

Orderly shopping experience. Staff and customers all wore masks and adhered to the distancing rules. Shelves were stocked, not completely, but adequately.

One of the nicest stores to go into. Always well stocked and kept clean! Their Bakery Department is fantastic! The cupcakes divine. If you want a unique dessert, this is the place to get it.Friendly staff that is always polite and willing to help.Alas an item we use to buy is no longer sold. Apparently, Stouffers Mexican Lasagna was not very popular. We appreciate the effort from them for offering something new.Prices are good and they have a huge parking lot where folks are courteous. No weird layout to get from point A to point B.Would definitely recommend to your friends.

This is a beautiful Big Y. Always clean and decorated for the current season. I choose this store because their produce is amazing!! Their meats are excellent as well, with more organic/grass fed options added recently. Their organic and gluten free section is small, and I would be happier if it was expanded, but for this small town they manage to have many excellent options. The parking lot is well kept (unlike the Manchester Big Y) and the staff is generally friendly. A few cashiers are quite excellent. They always have fresh flowers, and their bakery cakes are great. This grocery store doesn’t disappoint and that is why I have been a loyal customer for years.

We went to order grinders from the sandwich shop at about 6:15pm and they had no meatballs or sausage for the rest of the night. Mind you they close at 8:00 I would of expected them to still have a supply until about 7:30 as for the chicken tender sandwich the chicken was super dry to the point we couldn’t finish it and ended up being wasted. They also didn’t offer us a free soda or water with the 12inch sub purchase. I’m so very disappointed in their service.

The night manager is absolutely the rudest person I have ever come in contact with at a supermarket and should be fired because he absolutely has the worst customer service skills and has no respect for females, After shopping there for years as did my family I had a coupon that was supposed to be honored and rather than looking at the proof which was provided by the Damien to church he didnt care and dismissed me so I told him that I will never shop there again and neither will my family and he said good well Im sure that the store owners would be very happy to know that they are now going to be losing about $3000 a month because of their sexist manager. All I can say is that everyone should take their business down the street to Stop & Shop because as much as they preach that there a family business there The night manager didnt care that I was trying to get coupons for dogs at an animal shelter ( which he knew)who needed it and I was supposed to get a deal not for me but for these animals and thinking that they were a local company you would really think that they would want to support their local animal shelters but I guess not because he told me I can just leave the store .

The best supermarket in the area - no question. Well maintained and stocked; very clean and bright. Associates are helpful and attentive. It took me about a week after moving to the area to find this place and once I did, I never set foot in the local Stop & Shop again.

Great place for fresh produce and a great bakery too ! Very courteous staff.Quite a pleasant experience recently.We bought a bunch of oranges (darling clementines), some of which turned sour and rotten very fast - perhaps in just a day or 2.Took it back and spoke with one of the managers. Just wanted to bring it to their notice that it is so (as they usually stock the choicest produce).He said, yes, it is so ! As its nearing the end of season. He suggested that I see the Customer Service Desk for a refund. And I thanked him and went about my way. Continued shopping, picked up some milk, strolled around in the other aisles for a while, and then I turned up at the Customer Service desk.To my pleasant surprise, my job was a lot easier - the executive there had already known about my grievance - as the MGR I had spoken with earlier had dropped by and apprised her of my situation !!She processed my refund very fast.Hows that for great Customer Service ??!!!👍👍👍

Priced accordingly...great selections.. Watch out for shady sale tactics...buy one get two free.... Know what first item costs else where .....high quality meats and fresh food ,and selection is what they got goin on..

Just left Big Y in Ellington and must say how disappointed I was to see 5 young adults walking around without masks and not one employee said a word to them. They were the only people in the store without masks and I thought that wearing a mask is required to enter the store. Very disappointing!

Nice selection of proteins, produce, and ready-made lunch / dinner items. My only complaint is that theyre significantly more expensive than the other various options within a couple of miles. All-in-all, nice to have for emergency ingredients, but I save a tangible amount every week doing my shopping elsewhere.

Its hard to describe what makes this place special. It feels like part of the community. I feel at home here. The selection is great , the layout is great , the Big-Y products themselves are good ( Particularly their red sauce and pizzas cooked in-store ) , and its right in the center of a large residential area, making this a perfect grocery store. My one single complaint is the layout and placement of foods within various aisles change far too often.

A very clean grocery store with a great selection of produce. They also are great if you want to grab a hot meal and,go with choices from sushi to rotisserie chicken. They are also open until 10pm every day except Sunday (they are open until 9pm) which is pretty late if you want to run out late!

Good on Tuesdays for one that is over 60. Good coupons. Some low prices on a few items and free items when putting it on your card from the Big Y app. Cant shop here too much. Prices are very high for me.

High quality products, but tends to be on the pricey side, sales could be better. If want best grocery store seafood, this is your best bet.

The best display of produce I think Ive ever seen. They have all the fruits, vegetables, and other edible planty things you could imagine, as well as a huge organic selection. Equally impressed with the meats. Great experience every time.

They have a lot, but not everything. They are over priced so live for the deals. Frozen veggies and bread are all I would buy here. They do try to sell local stuff, sometimes. But they make it too expensive. Good parking lot size and the workers are friendly and helpful.

Used to be my one and only but have spent more money on produce that is bad the next day, or never really ripe. I find better fruit almost anywhere else. Plus, if its on sale better check the expiration date.

Absolutely love this grocery store! Great staff, good quality food! They really go the extra mile. Just last night I needed some meat from the case in the butcher/meat department; it was closed but a manager came out and got me what I needed. Great community store, cant say enough good things about it.

This is a beautiful market with a large selection and wonderful employees. It is very, very expensive but the store is always busy so people must not mind, or have large grocery budgets. I buy very little here but I do really like this market.

I love Big Y. Freshest veggies/fruits,exceptional employees and they are very helpful,as I am disabled. I can shop and be in and out because they arent standing around wondering what to do.EDIT: my service dog was ambushed down an aisle by a FAKE service dog and bit on his backend. I took a star away because the owners should have been asked that their dog be taken out of store. It wasnt handled properly by big y manager. I will forever be affected by this incident

Big Y store in Stafford Connecticut is probably one of the worst stores that you can get to theyre the only food store in Stafford Connecticut so they dont care what they give to their customers how they treat their customers the store opens at 7 I was there the other day at 9:30 in the morning and they just started stocking the produce section and the seafood section all the other Big Y stores are fantastic Stafford is just a piece of garbage

What is it with Big Y baggers? I never have someone smart enough to keep cold with cold, boxes and cans together, and meats by themselves. My bagger today took a bag of spring mix and threw 5 bags of frozen vegetables on it. It never fails, I have to go out to my car and repack.+I only went there because Stop and Shop was on strike...but I think I cross the picket line. Beside Big Y is expensive.

ALL the employees are SO very nice at BigY. No matter if I shop in Plainville or Stafford Springs, CT. Big-Y has a lot to offer and have shopped for years. 3 stars is for having to shop online now. VERY disappointed they got rid of the COINS program and now want everyone to shop online. Understood online may be the same and more convenient for some, as they have already tried to convince me to shop online. Not for me. I am a people person & would rather shop & visit in person. Lots of BigYs got rid of the Customer Satisfaction bell before you walk thru the exit. Always thought it made the employees feel good to know their customer service was worth an applaud.

Produce is CRAZY expensive.

The seafood is always high quality here. I just wish that there was a self checkout area because the lines can get quite long sometimes.

Store was stocked well, but cashier Marlene was quite curt and talked over me the entire transaction. When I asked the bagger to please use different bags for a few items she cut me off and told him I only needed one and to cram everything into one bag. (Which meant mixing chemical, frozen and produce). Just not all together a very pleasant experience.

Big Y in Ellington is in a great location. The store is very big, it is clean and bright. I seem to able to fin everything i need pretty quick every time i am there. If not then there is always someone on the floor to help. Often times when we shop there you can hear people ringing the bell by the exit door, meaning they received great customer service. My wife and I do so as well. Associates working at the registered are very friendly and always greet you with a smile. The only suggestion for the store i have, i wish they were selling Häagen-Dazs - Chocolate Dark Chocolate Bars. They only carry vanilla :-( So we have to go to different market to get that.

My visit to Big Y in Ellington was exceptional I am a large woman and handicapped and they brought the scooter out to me as ask so I could do my shopping with not a problem their Carriage people are so good over there

They may be overpriced, but their service is top notch. From the deli to the pizza shop, to their butcher, everything is done fresh and right. Great sales and huge selection.

I ran in there for a gift for a sick grandchild and the baking Department caught my eye their baking goods are awesome
