Ellington Agway is awesome I have been going here for awhile now, It finally came time to purchase a new lawnmower! Working with the guys over in power equipment. They helped me out tremendously from start to finish. I had great communication with them they helped me build my tractor, delivered it to my house and spent time explaining how the new lawnmower worked. I had one minor issue no problem they fixed it immediately. I was back to cutting the lawn in no time. If you need new power equipment I highly recommend working with the guys in Ellington, they are extremely knowledgeable and are always willing to help with whatever you need!!!

I love this store!! I go to pick up my dogs specialty food. They have awesome gifts in stock! Fun to browse their new items. I love that they carry local products and gifts, etc. Staff is always helpful and pleasant!

Been a long time customer since 2013; bought my John Deere x300 tractor brand new from here; serviced religiously every year by them for 8 years; no issues until 2021. A recent experience with the service department has convinced me to go elsewhere. I had an issue with my mower deck which caused me to bring it in for assessment. I am aware of the $50 assessment; which I had no issue with. I was told that my old mower deck was bad, blade shafts were bent, deck shell was rusted/bent; and required replacement. I was quote $1100 for this work. I confirmed that the replacement part came complete with a new deck, spindles, blades, belt...etc. Basically all new mowing parts. They did extend a discount for this because it was expensive and unexpected; bringing the cost down to $975; which I was appreciative of. I thought about buying it online where it was cheaper; but opted to buy/support local because they know the machine and have serviced it for so long. A couple weeks go by and hadnt heard anything; so I call for a status check. I was told that everything would be ready soon. But John Deere sent them only the mower deck shell only without all the other parts. I was told not to worry and they would transfer all the old parts over from my old deck; which I was previously told was bad. I never authorized the use of the old parts; nor did they call me to inform me of the incomplete part coming in. I asked if there would be any discount because this is not what was agreed, and they said no. I asked if they had the other new parts on the shelf to make it right. They said yes, but that it would cost an additional couple hundred dollars. So I asked why they could not get the parts right from John Deere, and they said there was nothing they could do, there was a parts shortage, and it is what it is. Frustrated with this; I told them I dont want the deck and that they could keep the bad one. This was not what was agreed upon from the beginning and that someone screwed up; and I was getting stuck with the bill and getting an incomplete repair. I never agreed to the use of the old parts which were supposedly bad. As long as this review is...I inquired with another John Deere dealer who ordered the parts; everything came as described; there was no parts shortage; and it was installed within 2 weeks for several hundred dollars less. My theory is someone ordered the wrong part and they didnt want to eat the cost. Its too bad, because they are the most conveniently located John Deere dealer in the area. They seemed a bit frustrated that I decided not to proceed; but there was a severe lack of communication on this job and I wasnt going to get the short end of the stick on this. Its not right. Does 8 years of customer loyalty mean anything? They tried to pull a fast one on me and screw me bad on this repair.

Called them to ask if they had a part we needed for our tractor. They said they did went down to order it Steive came out with the part we needed went into the trailer and fixed it right away.Was able to get back to work the same day!!Good service and the mechanics know what they are doing.

Great store for pet and gardening supplies.They have reasonably priced oxbow hay and millet. Also a great selection of dog treats.They can test your soil and then recommend what to do to optimize your garden. Many racks of seeds to choose from to start your garden. I’ve never had a problem with getting the seeds to sprout.Staff are friendly and helpful. They can help load larger items into your vehicles if you ask.Leashed well behaved dogs are welcome at this location.

I would highly recommend the Ellington Agway service department. They did an exceptional job servicing my John Deere mower. They evaluated the issue, obtained needed replacement parts, even working from a donated engine all while keeping us informed on the status of the repair. This is going above and beyond with exceptional customer service, all while dealing with the uncertainty and hardship of a pandemic. They even loaned us a mower to be able to cut our lawn while waiting. Can’t say enough about the positive experience!

Love these folks. They are incredibly beyond-the-norm helpful. During the pandemic, we’ve used their curbside pickup to get all the yard/garden stuff to keep our property looking good each season. Every time I call, I am given someone’s full attention, just like I would be inside the store. That’s something I appreciate, since I’ve got health issues that put me in a high risk category...yet am still a “real” customer.This very morning, I had a hundred questions about materials for a garden winterizing project and I apologized for taking so much of the customer service person’s time. She said to me, “It’s totally okay. I’m here for you.” Oh, lovely, you had me at “It’s totally ok.” Lol. It’s such a simple thing and yet it means so much to me. Thank you so much, Ellington Agway!!!

After an awful experience at another lawnmower dealer I stopped in at Ellington Agway.I should have stopped here to begin with. They explained everything to me. I ended up getting a better mower and for a better price.Since mine won’t be ready for a day or so they immediately brought a loaner to our house for us to use in the meantime and will swap them when mine is ready.This is how it should be.Thanks for all your help!

With my first trip there, I was pleasantly surprised. They have everything you may want and need around your home. There was a good selection of seasonal items. The staff is very helpful and professional. I shall return!

Dropped off my s t h i l Backpack Blower yesterday for a no-start condition. Upon handing over the equipment they asked for a $50 deposit. I never heard of anything like this but I needed the blower fixed. Today they called saying it was ready. The no-start condition was because it was flooded. When I arrive I asked them to show me how to start the blower. Found out that I was choking the blower rather than have it in the Run position. Went into the shop to pay expecting to get some refund from the $50 deposit. Fellow behind the counter pointed to the wall where there was a sign stating $50 minimum charge. Essentially it cost me $50 to have them tell me it was flooded. Over the years I have spent many thousands of dollars on equipment purchase from them. Needless to say I will never return to their store ever again.

Been going there often. Always good service and friendly. Might find prices lower elsewhere but much quicker and staff more knowledgeable than elsewhere. My time is valuable and its easier to get in and out than big box store.

Steven from parts department was very helpful and nice on the phone. You had our v-belt in stock, how lucky for us. Workers in the store are all very nice and helpful. Steven greeted me at the register, helped me with another part and I was off to our lawn. I live in Enfield ....and could buy on line.... but I enjoy Ellington Agways service ...and of course merchandise too.

Purchased my snowblower here from the power dept and my wife and I buy all our pet and grass seed from Ellington Agway. There really isnt a need to go out of town when they carry some of the best brands around. I brought my Ariens snow blower to these people for repair because the traction drive belt kept jumping off the drive pulley. My machine is twelve years old, I bought it new and has always run flawlessly so I figured it was a matter of a simple adjustment.Ok, so up front they told me there was a $50 diagnostic charge which I had no problem with. I received a call from them a week later to tell me that the entire drive line was worn out, the engine had a blown head gasket and it was going to cost more to repair than buying a new machine.This seemed VERY odd to hear since the engine still started and ran perfectly fine, something not possible with a blown head gasket. They told me that they would credit me the $50 diagnostic fee towards the purchase of a new Ariens machine, and that they would dispose of my old machine for me..... YEAH, right..... Thanks, but no thanks.I immediately went and picked up my machine.I called Ariens in Wisconsin and spoke with one of their technicians. I told him the story about dealing with Ellington AGWAY, the Ariens technician was not very pleased to hear this and the technician at Ariens suggested that I install two very inexpensive parts, which I did in less than five minutes.I repaired the machine myself with less than $5 in parts. I just ran this twelve year old snow monster for several hours cleaning up all the snow that came down yesterday 03/14/2017 in Manchester, CT. The traction drive belt did NOT pop off the pulley once. This machine still blows 50 rooster tails of snow like it was still new.So much for Ellington AGWAY and their diagnostic skills. Well, their poor attempt at trying to scare me into buying a new machine failed.I will not be going back to Ellington AGWAY.......EVER.I would not recommend these people to anyone in need of having their Ariens machine repaired.
